2Altered trends in carbon uptake in China’s terrestrial ecosystems under the enhanced summer monsoon and warming hiatus显示文摘The carbon budgets in terrestrial ecosystems in China are strongly coupled with climate changes.Over the past decade,China has experienced dramatic climate changes characterized by enhanced summer monsoon and decelerated warming.However,the changes in the trends of terrestrial net ecosystem production(NEP)in China under climate changes are not well documented.Here,we used three ecosystem models to simulate the spatiotemporal variations in China's NEP during 1982–2010 and quantify the contribution of the strengthened summer monsoon and warming hiatus to the NEP variations in four distinct climatic regions of the country.Our results revealed a decadal-scale shift in NEP from a downtrend of–5.95 Tg C/yr^2(reduced sink)during 1982–2000 to an uptrend of 14.22 Tg C/yr^2(enhanced sink)during 2000–10.This shift was essentially induced by the strengthened summer monsoon,which stimulated carbon uptake,and the warming hiatus,which lessened the decrease in the NEP trend.Compared to the contribution of 56.3%by the climate effect,atmospheric CO2 concentration and nitrogen deposition had relatively small contributions(8.6 and 11.3%,respectively)to the shift.In conclusion,within the context of the global-warming hiatus,the strengthening of the summer monsoon is a critical climate factor that enhances carbon uptake in China due to the asymmetric response of photosynthesis and respiration.Our study not only revealed the shift in ecosystem carbon sequestration in China in recent decades,but also provides some insight for understanding ecosystem carbon dynamics in other monsoonal areas.Honglin He Shaoqiang Wang Li Zhang Junbang Wang Xiaoli Ren Lei Zhou Shilong Piao Hao Yan Weimin Ju Fengxue Gu Shiyong Yu Yuanhe Yang Miaomiao Wang Zhongen Niu Rcmg Ge Huimin Yan Mei Huang Guoyi Zhou Yongfei Bai Zongqiang Xie Zhiyao Tang Bingfang Wu Leiming Zhang Nianpeng He Qiufeng Wang Guirui Yu 2019National Science Review2019,6,3:24

4Timing of the formation of the Tianhuashan Basin in northern Wuyi as constrained by geochronology of volcanic and plutonic rocks显示文摘The Tianhuashan Basin is one of the most important volcanic basins in the northern Wuyi,southeastern China,comprising two successive volcanic units,the Daguding Formation and the overlying Ehuling Formation,along with several small associated igneous intrusions.The Lengshuikeng super-large-scale Ag-Pb-Zn deposit,which is closely related to these volcanic-intrusive rocks,is located in the northwestern part of the basin.In order to understand the basin evolution and magmatism,we determined LA-ICP-MS U-Pb zircon ages for the volcanic successions and associated intrusive rocks.U-Pb zircon dating of volcanic units yielded precise ages of 144±1 Ma for crystal tuff in the lower member of the Daguding Formation,142±1 Ma for andesite within the upper member of the Daguding Formation,140±1 Ma for tuffite of the first(i.e.,lowermost) member of the Ehuling Formation,and 137±1 Ma for rhyolitic ignimbrite within the third volcano-stratigraphic member of the Ehuling Formation.Three types of intrusive igneous rocks(quartz syenite porphyry,K-feldspar granite porphyry,and rhyolite porphyry) yielded precise weighted mean 206 Pb/238 U ages of 144±1,140±1,and 140±1 Ma,respectively,suggesting that these intrusions along with the aforementioned volcanics were all emplaced during the Early Cretaceous.In addition,the weighted mean 206 Pb/238 U ages determined on zircon from two samples of a granite porphyry intrusion,which hosts ore mineralization of the Lengshuikeng Ag-Pb-Zn deposit,are 158±1 and 157±1 Ma,indicating emplacement in the Late Jurassic.These new geochronological results for igneous rocks of the Tianhuashan Basin constrain the timing of volcanic and plutonic activity in the basin,and have important implications for our understanding the tectonic history of the region,and for identifying metallogenic types and the timing of ore deposition of the Lengshuikeng deposit.SU HuiMin MAO JingWen HE XiRong LU Ran 2013Science China Earth Sciences2013,56,6:16
5Road Centrality and Landscape Spatial Patterns in Wuhan Metropolitan Area,China显示文摘Road network is a corridor system that interacts with surrounding landscapes,and understanding their interaction helps to develop an optimal plan for sustainable transportation and land use.This study investigates the relationships between road centrality and landscape patterns in the Wuhan Metropolitan Area,China.The densities of centrality measures,including closeness,betweenness,and straightness,are calculated by kernel density estimation(KDE).The landscape patterns are characterized by four landscape metrics,including percentage of landscape(PLAND),Shannon′s diversity index(SHDI),mean patch size(MPS),and mean shape index(MSI).Spearman rank correlation analysis is then used to quantify their relationships at both landscape and class levels.The results show that the centrality measures can reflect the hierarchy of road network as they associate with road grade.Further analysis exhibit that as centrality densities increase,the whole landscape becomes more fragmented and regular.At the class level,the forest gradually decreases and becomes fragmented,while the construction land increases and turns to more compact.Therefore,these findings indicate that the ability and potential applications of centrality densities estimated by KDE in quantifying the relationships between roads and landscapes,can provide detailed information and valuable guidance for transportation and land-use planning as well as a new insight into ecological effects of roads.LIU Yaolin WANG Huimin JIAO Limin LIU Yanfang HE Jianhua AI Tinghua 2015Chinese Geographical Science2015,25,4:9
6Treatment of mine water high in Fe and Mn by modified manganese sand显示文摘The iron and manganese absorption properties of several filter media were studied. Four plain filter media and six surface-modified media were examined. The surface modification was performed using potassium permanganate as a surface treatment. The surface-modified manganese sand was found to be most efficient at removing iron and manganese from water. The metal concentrations in filtered effluent were between 0.01 and 0.04 mg/L, which is far lower than the standard for recycle water. A concen-tration of 5% KMnO4 was found to be most effective as surface modifier. The surface of the manganese sand modified by 5% KMnO4 was examined and found to be covered with a dense membrane of some compound. The membrane had the advantages of uniform texture, large surface area and physical and chemical stability. 8In vitro differentiation of human adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells into endothelial-like cells显示文摘The neovascularization of ischemic tis- sue is a crucial initial step for the functional rehabili- tation and wound healing. However, the short of seed cell candidate for the foundation of vascular network is still a big issue. Human adipose tissue derived mesenchymal stem cells (hADSCs), which possess multilineage potential, are capable of adipogenic, osteogenic, and chondrogenic differentiation. We examined whether this kind of stem cells could dif- ferentiate into endothelial-like cells and participate in blood vessel formation, and whether they could be used as an ideal cell source for therapeutic angio- genesis in ischemic diseases or vascularization of tissue constructs. The results showed that hADSCs, grown under appropriately induced conditions, dis- played characteristics similar to those of vessel en- dothelium. The differentiated cells expressed endo- thelial cell markers CD34 and vWF, and had high metabolism of acetylated low-density lipoprotein and prostacyclin. In addition, the induced cells were able to form tube-like structures when cultured on matrigel. Our data indicated that induced hADSCs could ex- hibit characteristics of endothelial cells. 10Low-overpotential selective reduction of CO2 to ethanol on electrodeposited CuxAuy nanowire arrays显示文摘Direct electrochemical reduction of CO2 to multicarbon products is highly desirable, yet challenging. Here, we present a potentiostatic pulse-electrodeposition of high-aspect-ratio CuxAuy nanowire arrays (NWAs) as high-performance electrocatalysts for the CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR). The surface electronic structure related to the Cu:Au ratio in the CuxAuy NWAs could be facilely modulated by controlling the electrodeposition potential and the as-fabricated CuxAuy NWAs could be directly used as the catalytic electrode for the CO2RR. The morphology of the high-aspect-ratio nanowire array significantly lowers the onset potential of the alcohol formation due to the diffusion-induced enhancement of the local pH and CO concentration near the nanowire surface. Besides, the properly adjusted surface electronic structure of the CuxAuy NWA enables the adsorption of CO and facilitates the subsequent CO reduction to ethanol via the C-C coupling pathway. Owing to the synergistic effect of morphology and electronic structure, the optimized CuxAuy NWA selectively reduces CO2 to ethanol at low potentials of -0.5——0.7 V vs. RHE with a highest Faradaic efficiency of 48%. 12In situ SEM-DIC technique and its application to characterize the high-temperature fatigue crack closure effect显示文摘In situ high-temperature(maximum: 650℃) experiments for fatigue crack growth on single edge-notched GH4169 superalloy specimens have been performed in scanning electron microscopy(SEM). In order to investigate the crack closure behavior,digital image correlation(DIC) method was applied to measure the full-field displacement and strain fields around the crack tip.The deformation carrier(speckle) was fabricated on the polished specimen surface with Zr O2 powders having a good hightemperature resistance, and the speckle patterns were recorded during the fatigue test by SEM. In consideration of the distortion of SEM images, the unabridged model and the bicubic model were used to correct the spatial distortion, and the distortion parameters can be determined by a calibration test. It is shown that the unabridged model makes a better contribution towards improving SEM-DIC measurement accuracy. Based on the deformation field, the mode Ι stress intensity factor range ?K and the crack opening displacement(COD) can be calculated for evaluating the crack closure effect. Additionally, the crack propagation was monitored using SEM and optical microscope. 13Epidemiological and clinical characteristics of 35 children with COVID-19 in Beijing,China显示文摘Importance:Within the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)global pandemic,more attention is warranted for whether this new infectious disease has unique manifestations in children.Objective:To retrospectively determine the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of 35 children with COVID-19 in Beijing,China.Methods:We collected data for 35 children diagnosed with COVID-19 who were admitted to Beijing Ditan Hospital from January 2020 to June 2020,and analyzed their epidemiological characteristics,clinical manifestations,laboratory examinations,chest imaging findings,treatments,and outcomes.Results:The children comprised 18 boys(51.4%)and 17 girls(48.6%)aged 6 months to 15 years.All patients had clear epidemiological history,with family clusters accounting for 28 cases(80.0%)and clear tracing of exposure to high epidemic areas in the remaining 7 cases(20.0%).Four(11.4%)patients were classified as asymptomatic,17(48.6%)as acute upper respiratory infection,and 14(40.0%)as mild pneumonia,with no severe or critical cases.Clinical manifestations were mild,including fever in 18(51.4%),cough in 14(40.0%),and nausea and diarrhea in 7(20.0%)patients.White blood cell count was mostly normal(26 cases,74.3%)or decreased(7 cases,20.0%);lymphocyte percentage was increased in 24(68.7%);neutrophil percentage was decreased in 25(71.4%);alanine aminotransferase was increased in 3(8.6%);and serum potassium was decreased in 4(11.4%).Time to negative viral nucleic acid testing was 2-42 days(mean:14.0±9.4 days).Chest imaging examination revealed that 20 patients(57.1%)had different forms of lung inflammation.Treatment was mainly isolation and nutritional support.Eleven patients were treated with interferon atomization inhalation.No patients required oxygen therapy.All 35 children were cured and discharged.Length of hospital stay was 9-54 days(mean:25.4±13.8 days).During regular follow-up after discharge,5 children showed positivity again in the viral nucleic acid test and were re-hospitalized for observation and treatment.The mean length of re-hospitalization stay was 10.8 days.Interpretation:Children with COVID-19 mainly become infected within their family,and children of all ages are generally susceptible.The disease in children is mostly mild and the prognosis is good.Nucleic acid tests in some patients become positive again after discharge,suggesting that it is of great significance to carry out centralized isolation medical observations and active nucleic acid tests in close contacts for early detection of patients and routine epidemic prevention and control.Ming He Caiying Wang Lin Xu Huimin Zhang Yuhuan Liu Yang Zhao Shuxin He Yanlan Zhang Hongling Yang Yang Liu Min Miao Zhihai Chen Lin Pang 2020Pediatric Investigation2020,4,4:3
14Factors affecting potassium fixation in seven soils under 15-year long-term fertilization显示文摘Potassium (K) fixation by seven soils, including black soil, fluvo-aquic soil, grey desert soil, loess soil, paddy soil, red soil and purple soil, was determined by laboratory simulation under a fifteen-year-period of long-term fertilization. Factors affecting soil K fixation were then discussed by factor analysis and stepwise regression. Magnitude of soil K fixation rate was as follows: the black soil > the purple soil > the loess soil > the fluvo-aquic soil > the paddy soil > the grey desert soil > the red soil. Our results showed that soil K fixation capacity was significantly affected by the clay mineral types in the soils. Potassium fixation capacity of soils, whose 2:1 layer silicates were dominant minerals, was af- fected by two components extracted by the method of principal component analysis: the first including soil available K, slow available K and K+ saturation, and the second including cation exchange capacity (CEC), soil organic matter (SOM) and <0.002 mm clay contents. 18mTOR regulates TLR-induced c-fos and Th1 responses to HBV and HCV vaccines显示文摘Although IL-12 plays a critical role in priming Th1 and cytotoxic T lymphocyte(CTL) responses, Toll-like receptor(TLR) signaling only induces low amounts of IL-12 in dendritic cells and macrophages, implying the existence of stringent regulatory mechanisms. In this study, we sought to uncover the mechanisms underlying TLR-induced IL-12 expression and the Th1 response. By systemic screening, we identified a number of protein kinases involved in the regulation of TLRinduced IL-12 expression. In particular, PI3 K, ERK, and m TOR play critical roles in the TLR-induced Th1 response by regulating IL-12 and IL-10 production in innate immune cells. Moreover, we identified c-fos as a key molecule that mediates m TOR-regulated IL-12 and IL-10 expression in TLR signaling. Mechanistically, m TOR plays a crucial role in c-fos expression, thereby modulating NFκB binding to promoters of IL-12 and IL-10. By controlling the expression of a special innate gene program, m TOR can specifically regulate the TLR-induced T cell response in vivo. Furthermore, blockade of m TOR by rapamycin efficiently boosted TLR-induced antigen-specific T and B cell responses to HBV and HCV vaccines.
