| 1 | Preparation and Electrochemical Performance of Nano-Co_3O_4 Anode Materials from Spent Li-Ion Batteries for Lithium-Ion Batteries显示文摘A hydrometallurgical process for the recovery of cobalt oxalate from spent lithium-ion batteries was used to recycle cobalt compound by using alkali leaching,reductive acid leaching and chemical deposition of cobalt oxalate.The recycled cobalt oxalate was used to synthesize nano-Co3O4 anode material by sol-gel method. The samples were characterized by thermal gravity analysis and differential thermal analysis(TGA/DTA),X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and charge/discharge measurements.The influence of molar ratio of Co2+ to citric acid and calcination temperature on the structure and electrochemical performance of nano-Co3O4 was evaluated.As the molar ratio of Co2+ to citric acid is 1:1,the face-centered cubic(fcc) Co3O4 powder shows the discharge capacity of 760.9 mA h g-1,the high coulombic efficiency of 99.7%in the first cycle at the current density of 125 mA g-1,and the excellent cycling performance with the reversible capacity of 442.3 mA h g-1after 20 cycles at the current density of 250 mA g-1. | Chuanyue Hu Jun Guo Jin Wen Yangxi Peng | 2013 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2013,29,3: | 8 |

| 3 | Testing the role of genetic variation of the MC4R gene in Chinese population in antipsychotic-induced metabolic disturbance显示文摘Antipsychotic-induced metabolic disturbance(AIMD) is a common adverse effect of antipsychotics with genetics partly underpinning variation in susceptibility among schizophrenia patients. Melanocortin4 receptor(MC4 R) gene, one of the candidate genes for AIMD, has been under-studied in the Chinese patients. We conducted a pharmacogenetic study in a large cohort of Chinese patients with schizophrenia. In this study, we investigated the genetic variation of MC4 R in Chinese population by genotyping two SNPs(rs489693 and rs17782313) in 1,991 Chinese patients and examined association of these variants with the metabolic effects that were often observed to be related to AIMD. Metabolic measures, including body mass index(BMI), waist circumference(WC), glucose, triglyceride, high-density lipoprotein(HDL), and low-density lipoprotein(LDL) levels were assessed at baseline and after 6-week antipsychotic treatment. We found that interaction of SNP×medication status(drug-na?ve/medicated) was significantly associated with BMI, WC, and HDL change %, respectively. Both SNPs were significantly associated with baseline BMI and WC in the medicated group. Moderate association of rs489693 with WC, Triglyceride, and HDL change % were observed in the whole sample. In the drug-na?ve group, we found recessive effects of rs489693 on BMI gain more than 7%, WC and Triglyceride change %, with AA incurring more metabolic adverse effects. In conclusion, the association between rs489693 and the metabolic measures is ubiquitous but moderate. Rs17782313 is less involved in AIMD. | 4 | Synthesis and electrochemical properties of Li[Ni_xCo_yMn_(1-x-y)]O_2 (x, y = 2/8, 3/8) cathode materials for lithium ion batteries显示文摘The uniform layered Li(Ni2/8Co3/8Mn3/8)O2, Li(Ni3/8Co2/8Mn3/8)O2, and Li(Ni3/8Co3/8Mn2/8)O2 cathode materials for lithium ion batteries were prepared using the hydroxide co-precipitation method. The effects of calcination temperature and transition metal contents on the structure and electrochemical properties of the Li-Ni-Co-Mn-O were systemically studied. The results of XRD and electrochemical performance measurement show that the ideal preparation conditions were to prepare the Li(Ni3/8Co3/8Mn2/8)O2 cathode material calcined at 900°C for 10 h. The well-ordered Li(Ni3/8Co3/8Mn2/8)O2 synthesized under the optimal conditions has the I003/I104 ratio of 1.25 and the R value of 0.48 and delivers the initial discharge capacity of 172.9 mA·h·g-1, the discharge capacity of 166.2 mA·h·g-1 after 20 cycles at 0.2C rate, and the im-pedance of 558 Ω after the first cycle. | 5 | Concentrations and distribution of biogenic barium in surface sediments of Prydz Bay,Antarctica显示文摘Concentrations of biogenic barium were investigated in surface sediments of Prydz Bay,Antarctica,during the 21st and27th CHINARE cruises.Factors controlling the observed distribution are explored.Biogenic barium concentrations obtained from a sequential extraction procedure are compared with total concentrations obtained from the normative calculation based on a total digestion,and differences in the results are examined.Concentrations of biogenic barium,calculated by the normative calculation,were much higher than the concentrations obtained through sequential extraction;this discrepancy is the result of the occurrence of barium associated with Mn/Fe oxides,which represents an important component of total barium in these sediments.Concentrations of biogenic barium obtained from the sequential extraction range from 104 to 445μg·g^(-1),and the average concentration was227μg·g^(-1).The highest concentrations of biogenic barium occur in the central area of the bay,where the seawater is more stable,while lower values occur in the bank and the ice shelf.Biogenic barium is significantly linearly correlated with biogenic barium and organic carbon,and similar in distribution of Chl a,which may indicate that primary productivity of phytoplankton in the surface water column is the main environmental factor regulating barium concentration and distribution. | TAN Saizhang YU Peisong HU Chuanyu HAN Zhengbing ZHANG Haisheng | 2013 | Advances in Polar Science2013,24,3: | 1 |

| 13 | The chemical distribution characteristics of variant form phosphorus in the seawater of the South China Sea显示文摘According to two cruises investigation information in summer and winter during 1998 and1999, the phosphorous concentration distribution and changes of summer and winter were discussed pri-marily in the South China Sea. The results show that the phosphate concentration of surface seawater insummer is distinctly lower than that in winter, averaging 0.04 μmol/dm3 in summer and 0.35 μmol/dm3 in winter. The organic phosphorous concentration of surface seawater in summer is higher than thatin winter, averaging 0.12μmol/dm3 in summer and 0.04 μmol/dm3 in winter respectively. The season-al changes of total phosphorus are similar to phosphate, averaging 0.22 μmol/dm3 in summer and 0.61μmol/dm3 in winter respectively. In vertical direction, phosphate, TDP and TP content are the lowestin upper 50 m water column, and increase in linearity rapidly with water depth, increasing slowly under500 m, reach to maximum about 1 000 m, then decrease slightly with water depth increasing. The ver-tical distribution is typical in summer, and there is small dispersed for phosphorus concentration for thesame depth of different stations. However, in winter there is a large disperse for phosphate, TDP andTP, specifically for phosphate at 200 m at which the concentration is maximum. This result indicatesthat there are large differences in hydrology and biology conditions that affect largely the chemical envi-ronment of the South China Sea. The organic phosphorus is the predominant in surface seawater of theSouth China Sea, but the inorganic phosphorus is the predominant in layers below depth of 150 m. Theorganic phosphorus concentration in deep water usually decreases with water depth increasing. | 15 | Short-and Long-Term Response of Phytoplankton to ENSO in Prydz Bay, Antarctica: Evidences from Field Measurements, Remote Sensing Data and Stratigraphic Biomarker Records显示文摘The study provides one of the first lines of evidence showing linkages between Antarctic phytoplankton abundance and composition in response to ENSO, based on historical reconstruction of sediment biomarkers. In addition to sediment biomarkers, field measured and remote sensing data of phytoplankton abundance were also recorded from Prydz Bay, Eastern Antarctica. Community structure of field measured phytoplankton showed significant El Nino/La Nina-related succession during 1990 to 2002. In general, the number of algae species decreased during El Nino and La Nina years compared to normal years. Austral summer monthly variation of remotely sensed chlorophyll-a(Chl-a), particulate organic carbon(POC), and sea surface temperature(SST) indicated that ENSO impacted the timing of phytoplankton blooms during 2007 to 2011. Phytoplankton blooms(indicated by Chl-a and POC) preceded the increases in SST during El Nino years, and lagged behind the SST increases during La Nina years. Stratigraphic record of marine sedimentary lipid(brassicasterol, dinosterol and alkenones) biomarkers inferred that the proportions of different algae(diatoms, dinoflagellates and haptophytes) changed significantly between El Nino and La Nina events. The content of Ge total in the sediments ranges from 1.14×10-6 to 2.35×10-6 (average of 1.71×10-6) and the highest value occurs at station P3-9 where water depth is > 1 000 m. The lowest value occurs at station P4-13 which is near the edge of the Amery ice shelf. The surface sediments have 16%-68% Ge bio within Ge total . The distribution trends of Ge bio and Ge total are generally similar, and the values outside Prydz Bay are higher than within the bay, bounded at 67°S. The vertical distribution of Ge in sediment cores presents higher values at the surface than in underlying sediments. Values of Ge bio appear to positively correlate with biogenic silica (BSiO 2) in surface sediments from non-polynyas sea. | 18 | The distribution and concentration of particulate biogenic silica in surface waters of Prydz Bay, Antarctica, during the austral summer of 2011显示文摘The concentrations and distributions of particulate biogenic silica (PBSi) in the upper surface waters of Prydz Bay, Antarctica, were investigated during the 27th Chinese National Antarctic Research Expedition cruises of January 2011. We aimed to characterize the correlations between PBSi and plankton, nutrients and particulate organic carbon. The results showed that the concentrations of biogenic silica ranged from 0.76-19.72 μmol dm-3 and the average concentration of biogenic silica was 6.06 μmol dm-3 . The distribution of surface PBSi had significant regional characteristics: The concentrations were higher south of 67°S than to the north. The distribution of PBSi, chlorophyll a and particulate organic carbon showed similar patterns, and PBSi distribution had a negative correlation with that of silicate. In the vertical direction, the mole ratio of PBSi and POC (Sibio /Corg ) decreased with increasing depth. | 19 | Phytoplankton community changes indicated by biomarker from sediment in Prydz Bay, Antarctica显示文摘Biomarkers including brassicasterol, dinosterol and alkenone in sediments are used as indicators to reconstruct changes to the phytoplankton community in surface and sub-aerial sediments of Prydz Bay, Antarctica. The results indicate that the biomarker records in surface and core sediment samples changed with time and space. The total content of phytoplankton biomarkers ranges from 391.0-1 470.6 ng·g-1 . The phytoplankton biomass has increased in Prydz Bay over the past 100 years. This variation may be mainly related with climate change in the region. The total biomarker contents in surface sediments from 5 stations in Prydz Bay are in the range of 215.8-1 294.3 ng·g-1 . The phytoplankton biomass in Prydz Bay is higher than that outside of the bay. This is similar to the distributions of chlorophyll a, organic carbon and biogenic silica in surface waters determined through in situ investigation. | 20 | Characteristics of particle fluxes in the Prydz Bay polynya, Eastern Antarctica显示文摘The settling of particulate carbon in seawater is a key component of the ocean carbon cycle. We deployed a set of sediment trap in the polynya of Prydz Bay from December 2010 to December 2011 to investigate the seasonal variations in particle fluxes. There was a clear seasonal variation in the particle fluxes, with maximum and minimum fluxes recorded during the summer and winter, respectively. The average total flux over the sampling period was 193.58 mg m^(-2)d^(-1), and the average fluxes of organic carbon(C_(org)), inorganic carbon(C_(inorg)), and biogenic silica(Si_(bio)) were 721.78, 28.67, and 2382.80 μmol m^(-2) d^(-1), respectively. Si_(bio)was the main contributor to the total mass flux, and strongly correlated with C_(org). The high Si_(bio)/C_(org)molar ratios(>1) suggest that C_(org)was transported to deep sea in association with Si_(bio). By comparing remote sensing data of sea ice and chlorophyll in the upper water column, we found that the dynamics of carbon fluxes were closely related to changes in sea ice. Algae in sea ice may have a key role in biological pump processes in early summer. Apart from the ice algae bloom period, variations in carbon fluxes generally corresponded with phytoplankton blooms in the upper water. The ballast effect controlled the particle settling velocity and the efficiency of the biological pump. Sea ice rafts initiated the first particle export event and enhanced the particle settling efficiency during melting period.
