| 1 | Multi-objective optimization of aircraft design for emission and cost reductions显示文摘Pollutant gases emitted from the civil jet are doing more and more harm to the environment with the rapid development of the global commercial aviation transport. Low environmental impact has become a new requirement for aircraft design. In this paper,estimation method for emission in aircraft conceptual design stage is improved based on the International Civil Aviation Organization(ICAO) aircraft engine emissions databank and the polynomial curve fitting methods. The greenhouse gas emission(CO2equivalent) per seat per kilometer is proposed to measure the emissions. An approximate sensitive analysis and a multi-objective optimization of aircraft design for tradeoff between greenhouse effect and direct operating cost(DOC) are performed with five geometry variables of wing configuration and two flight operational parameters. The results indicate that reducing the cruise altitude and Mach number may result in a decrease of the greenhouse effect but an increase of DOC. And the two flight operational parameters have more effects on the emissions than the wing configuration. | 4 | Aerobic anoxygenic phototrophic bacteria and their roles in marine ecosystems显示文摘Aerobic anoxygenic phototrophic bacteria (AAPB) are characterized by the following physiological and ecological features. A mother AAPB cell can unusually divide into 3 daughter cells and looks like a 揧?during the division. AAPB cells sometimes adhere together forming a free-floating population. Most of the known AAPB species are obligately aerobic. Bacteriochlorophyll a (BChl a) is the only photosynthetic pigment in AAPB, and the number of BChl a molecules in an AAPB cell is much less than that in an anaerobic phototrophic bacterial cell, while the accessorial pigments carotenoids in AAPB are abundant in concentration and diverse in species. In addition to the common magnesium containing BChl a, a zinc-containing BChla was also seen in AAPB. AAPB have light harvesting complexⅠbut usually lack light harvesting complexⅡ. Although AAPB featur in photosynthesis, their growth is not necessarily light- dependent. There is a mechanism controlling the photosynthesis approach. AAPB are widely distributed in marine environments especially in oligotrophic oceans accounting for a substantial portion of the total biomass and playing a unique role in the cycle of carbon and other biogenic elements. Besides the contribution to primary production, AAPB also have great potentials in bioremediation of polluted environments. | 7 | Identification of a novel planthopper resistance gene from wild rice(Oryza rufipogon Griff.)显示文摘Rice planthoppers,including brown planthopper(BPH)and white-backed planthopper(WBPH),are the most destructive pests in Asian rice cultivation regions.Planthopper resistance genes that have been mapped and characterized advance our understanding of underlying resistance mechanisms and facilitate the breeding of resistant varieties,thereby contributing to an efficient pest management strategy.In this study,a novel resistance gene Bph38 derived from the wild rice species Oryza rufipogon Griff.was found to confer high resistance to BPH and WBPH.Conventional mapping was performed to identify regions associated with BPH and WBPH resistance,and two mapping efforts led to the same region on chromosome 4 flanked by markers RM16563 and RM16763.Bulked-segregant analysis and next-generation sequencing were performed using the same population to detect the resistance gene.Conventional mapping narrowed the region to a 12.3-Mb segment,and fine mapping using BC1 F2 recombinants identified a 79-kb segment flanked by markers YM112 and YM190.Near-isogenic lines(NILs)carrying Bph38 in the 9311(indica)and BR54(japonica)genetic backgrounds were developed by crossing and backcrossing with marker-assisted selection.The agronomic traits and BPH and WBPH resistance of the NILs were similar to those of the recurrent parents.Mandatory feeding and host-choice tests revealed that Bph38 showed both antibiotic and antixenotic effects in both insects,with stronger effects in indica-background lines.Further fine mapping and characterization of the major gene may result in map-based cloning of the gene and allow its application in breeding insectresistant rice varieties. | Meng Yang Jiebin Lin Ling Cheng Hailian Zhou Shu Chen Fang Liu Rongbai Li Yongfu Qiu | 2020 | The Crop Journal2020,8,6: | 3 |
| 8 | Highly active and sintering-resistant heteroepitaxy of Au nanoparticles on ZnO nanowires for CO oxidation显示文摘Gold was supported on commercial ZnO powders(P) and homemade ZnO nanowires(NWs) by a modified deposition–precipitation method. X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy investigation indicated that the size of the Au nanoparticles(NPs) depended strongly on the calcination temperature.The Au NPs were highly dispersed(< 5 nm) on both supports with calcination temperatures < 400 °C.However, after calcination at 600 °C the Au NPs aggregated much more severely on ZnO P than on ZnO NWs. Gold NPs epitaxially grew into the {10–10} facets of the ZnO NWs after calcination at temperatures > 400 °C. Such unique anchoring mechanism accounts for the much better experimentally observed sintering resistance. X-ray photoelectron spectra showed that Au existed as both metallic Au0 and Auδ+species in all the synthesized catalysts with or without calcination treatment; the ratios of Auδ+/Au0,however, varied, depending on the treatment conditions. Catalytic tests showed that the activity for CO oxidation strongly depended on the size of the Au NPs. After calcination at 600 °C, the specific rate for CO oxidation at room temperature decreased about 30 times on Au/ZnO P but only about 4 times on Au/ZnO NW. | 11 | Microstructure Morphologies of Asphalt Binders using Atomic Force Microscopy显示文摘We investigated microstructure morphologies of three asphalts(SK, Karamay, and Esso) used in China using atomic force microscopy(AFM). The topography and phase contrast images were obtained. Topographic profile and three dimensional images were described. Roughnesses of microstructure were calculated. And the chemical compositions of asphalt were tested to explain the microstructural mechanism of the asphalt. The results show that the topography and phase image in atomic force microscopy are appropriate to evaluate the microstructure of the asphalt binder. There are significant differences in microstructural morphologies including bee-like structure, topographic profile, 3D image, and roughness for three asphalts in this study. There are three different phases in microstructure of asphalt binder.
