13-N-butylphthalide improves neuronal morphology after chronic cerebral ischemia显示文摘3-N-butylphthalide is an effective drug for acute ischemic stroke. However, its effects on chronic cerebral ischemia-induced neuronal injury remain poorly understood. Therefore, this study ligated bilateral carotid arteries in 15-month-old rats to simulate chronic cerebral ischemia in aged humans. Aged rats were then intragastrically administered 3-n-butylphthalide. 3-N-butylphthalide administration improved the neuronal morphology in the cerebral cortex and hippocampus of rats with chronic cerebral ischemia, increased choline acetyltransferase activity, and decreased malondialdehyde and amyloid beta levels, and greatly improved cognitive function. These findings suggest that 3-n-butylphthalide alleviates oxidative stress caused by chronic cerebral ischemia, improves cholinergic function, and inhibits amyloid beta accumulation, thereby improving cerebral neuronal injury and cognitive deficits.Wanhong Zhao Chao Luo Jue Wang Jian Gong Bin Li Yingxia Gong Jun Wang Hanqin Wang 2014Neural Regeneration Research2014,9,7:43
2Cropland redistribution to marginal lands undermines environmental sustainability显示文摘Cropland redistribution to marginal land has been reported worldwide;however,the resulting impacts on environmental sustainability have not been investigated sufficiently.Here we investigated the environmental impacts of cropland redistribution in China.As a result of urbanization-induced loss of high-quality croplands in south China(~8.5 t ha^(-1)),croplands expanded to marginal lands in northeast(~4.5 t ha^(-1)) and northwest China(~2.9 t ha^(-1)) during 1990-2015 to pursue food security.However,the reclamation in these low-yield and ecologically vulnerable zones considerably undermined local environmental sustainability,for example increasing wind erosion(+3.47%),irrigation water consumption(+34.42%),fertilizer use(+20.02%) and decreasing natural habitats(-3.11%).Forecasts show that further reclamation in marginal lands per current policies would exacerbate environmental costs by 2050.The future cropland security risk will be remarkably intensified because of the conflict between food production and environmental sustainability.Our research suggests that globally emerging reclamation of marginal lands should be restricted and crop yield boost should be encouraged for both food security and environmental benefits.Wenhui Kuang Jiyuan Liu Hanqin Tian Hao Shi Jinwei Dong Changqing Song Xiaoyong Li Guoming Du Yali Hou Dengsheng Lu Wenfeng Chi Tao Pan Shuwen Zhang Rafiq Hamdi Zherui Yin Huimin Yan Changzhen Yan Shixin Wu Rendong Li Jiuchun Yang Yinyin Dou Wenbin Wu Liqiao Liang Bao Xiang Shiqi Yang 2022National Science Review2022,9,1:13
3SIDT1-dependent absorption in the stomach mediates host uptake of dietary and orally administered microRNAs显示文摘Dietary microRNAs have been shown to be absorbed by mammals and regulate host gene expression,but the absorption mechanism remains unknown.Here,we show that SIDT1 expressed on gastric pit cells in the stomach is required for the absorption of dietary microRNAs.SIDT1-deficient mice show reduced basal levels and impaired dynamic absorption of dietary microRNAs.Notably,we identified the stomach as the primary site for dietary microRNA absorption,which is dramatically attenuated in the stomachs of SIDT1-deficient mice.Mechanistic analyses revealed that the uptake of exogenous microRNAs by gastric pit cells is SIDT1 and low-pH dependent.Furthermore,oral administration of plant-derived miR2911 retards liver fibrosis,and this protective effect was abolished in SIDT1-deficient mice.Our findings reveal a major mechanism underlying the absorption of dietary microRNAs,uncover an unexpected role of the stomach and shed light on developing small RNA therapeutics by oral delivery.Qun Chen Fan Zhang Lei Dong Huimin Wu Jie Xu Hanqin Li Jin Wang Zhen Zhou Chunyan Liu Yanbo Wang Yuyan Liu Liangsheng Lu Chen Wang Minghui Liu Xi Chen Cheng Wang Chunni Zhang Dangsheng Li Ke Zen Fangyu Wang Qipeng Zhang Chen-Yu Zhang 2021Cell Research2021,31,3:10
4THE GENETIC DIVERSITY OF GAOZHOU WILD RICE ANALYZED BY SSR显示文摘The genetic diversity of total 240 acces- sions of common wild rice coming from Gaozhou, Shaoguan, Zhanjiang, and other places in Guang- dong, and Jiangxi, Fujian, Yunnan provinces, etc. in China and South-eastern Asia was evaluated by us- ing 24 pairs of SSR primers. The results indicated that: (i) there were 17 polymorphic loci in 24 pairs of SSR primers, and the average percentage of poly- morphic loci was 69%; the average total number of alleles, the average number of alleles per locus and the average number of alleles per polymorphic loci were 51.1, 2.04 and 2.43, respectively; (ii) the aver- age gene diversity was 0.8447. There were remark- able differentiations among 5 populations of Gaozhou wild rice. All the above-mentioned genetic parame- ters indicated that Gaozhou wild rice of Pengshan Village (or Bei Toudong) of Zhenjiang Town should be a center of genetic differentiation and diversity of Gaozhou wild rice. 5Linking microbial community composition to farming pattern in selenium-enriched region:Potential role of microorganisms on Se geochemistry显示文摘Selenium(Se)is an essential micronutrient for lives.Indigenous microbial communities play an important role on Se geochemistry in soils.In this study,the microbial community composition and functions of 53 soil samples were investigated using high-throughput sequencing.Samples were divided into 3 groups with different farming types based on the measured geochemical parameters and microbial functional structures.Results indicated that putative Se related bacteria Bacillus,Dyella,Paenibacillus,Burkholderia and Brevibacillus were dominant in dryland plantation soils which were characterized with higher available Se and low contents of H_(2)O,total organic carbon(TOC),NH_(4)^(+) and NO_(2)^(-).In contrast,the putative denitrifier Pseudomonas dominated in flooded paddy soils with higher TOC,NO_(3)^(-) and organic Se,whereas genera Rhizobium,Nitrosospira,and Geobacter preferred woodland soils with higher oxidation-reduction potential(ORP),pH,NH_(4)^(+) and Fe.Farming patterns resulted in distinct geochemical parameters including moisture,pH,ORP,TOC,and contents of soluble Fe,NO_(2)^(-) and NH_(4)^(+),shaping the microbial communities,which in turn affected Se forms in soils.This study provides a valuable insight into understanding of Se biogeochemistry in soils and prospective strategy for Se-rich agriculture production.Yanhong Wang Xinyan Shi Xianxin Huang Chunlei Huang Helin Wang Hanqin Yin Yixian Shao Ping Li 2022Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,2:3

8Spatiotemporal variations of carbon flux and nitrogen deposition flux linked with climate change at the centennial scale in China显示文摘The spatial and temporal variations of the vegetation carbon flux in China from 1901 to 2005 were studied using the vegetation net primary production(NPP)values from seven Earth-system models.In addition,the temporal and spatial changes in the nitrogen deposition flux in China were studied using the NHx and NOy fluxes from 1901 to 2005.The relationship between changes in the carbon flux,nitrogen flux and climate was analyzed.The results show that(1)over the past 100 years,NPP in China has shown an upward trend.The average trend coefficient is 0.88 and the NPP distribution trend is generally low in the north and high in the south,with a gradual increase from the northwest to the southeast.Temperature,precipitation and radiation are all conducive to plant growth in the direction of the gradient.The correlation coefficients between the ensemble model mean NPP and temperature,precipitation,longwave radiation and shortwave radiation are 0.88,0.73,0.91 and 0.67,respectively.(2)In the past 100 years,the NHx and NOy fluxes in China have shown an upward trend,with trend coefficients of 0.98 and 0.98,respectively,which pass the 99.9%confidence level of the t-test.NHx and NOy fluxes are also generally low in the north and high in the south,with a gradual increase from the northwest to the southeast in a step-like pattern.(3)The spatial distribution of the correlation coefficients between the NHx and NOy fluxes and air temperature is similar,with only slight differences in values.The spatial distribution of the correlation coefficients between the NHx and NOy fluxes and precipitation is similar in overall pattern,but the pattern is relatively complicated,with a positive-negative-positive-negative-positive pattern occurring across the monsoon region from north to south,and a negative-positive-negative-positive pattern occurring beyond the monsoon region from east to west.(4)The spatial distribution of the correlation coefficients between the NHx and NOy fluxes and NPP shows a generally consistent pattern,but the pattern is relatively uneven.The average distribution of the ensemble model mean is positive correlation in northeast China and southwest China,and alternating positive and negative correlation in other regions.Dongdong GAO Li DAN Guangzhou FAN Hanqin TIAN Jing PENG Xiujing YANG Fuqiang YANG Yueyue LI 2020Science China Earth Sciences2020,63,5:1
