2In vitro meat production: Challenges and benefits over conventional meat production显示文摘In vitro meat production system is the production of meat outside the food animals by culturing the stem cells derived from farm animals inside the bioreactor by using advanced tissue engineering techniques. Besides winning the favour of animal rights activists for its humane production of meat, in vitro meat production system also circumvents many of the issues associated with conventional meat production systems, like excessively brutal slaughter of food animals, nutrition-related diseases, foodborne illnesses, resource use, antibiotic-resistant pathogen strains, and massive emissions of methane that contribute to global warming. As the conditions in an in vitro meat production system are controlled and manipulatable, it will be feasible to produce designer, chemically safe and disease-free meat on sustainable basis. However, many challenges are to be faced before cultured meat becomes commercially feasible. 3Optimization of process parameters of aluminum alloy AA 2014-T6 friction stir welds by response surface methodology显示文摘The heat treatable aluminum-copper alloy AA2014 finds wide application in the aerospace and defence industry due to its high strength-toweight ratio and good ductility. Friction stir welding(FSW) process, an emerging solid state joining process, is suitable for joining this alloy compared to fusion welding processes. This work presents the formulation of a mathematical model with process parameters and tool geometry to predict the responses of friction stir welds of AA 2014-T6 aluminum alloy, viz yield strength, tensile strength and ductility. The most influential process parameters considered are spindle speed, welding speed, tilt angle and tool pin profile. A four-factor, five-level central composite design was used and a response surface methodology(RSM) was employed to develop the regression models to predict the responses.The mechanical properties, such as yield strength(YS), ultimate tensile strength(UTS) and percentage elongation(%El), are considered as responses. Method of analysis of variance was used to determine the important process parameters that affect the responses. Validation trials were carried out to validate these results. 4Resection of early esophageal neoplasms: The pendulum swings from surgical to endoscopic management显示文摘Esophageal cancer is a highly lethal disease and is the sixth leading cause of cancer related mortality in the world.The standard treatment is esophagectomy which is associated with significant morbidity and mortality.This led to development of minimally invasive,organ sparing endoscopic therapies which have comparable outcomes to esophagectomy in early cancer.These include endoscopic mucosal resection and endoscopic submucosal dissection.In early squamous cell cancer,endoscopic submucosal dissection is preferred as it is associated with cause specific 5-year survival rates of 100%for M1 and M2 tumors and 85%for M3 and SM1 tumors and low recurrence rates.In early adenocarcinoma,endoscopic resection of visible abnormalities is followed by ablation of the remaining flat Barrett’s mucosa to prevent recurrences.Radiofrequency ablation is the most widely used ablation modality with others being cryotherapy and argon plasma coagulation.Focal endoscopic mucosal resection followed by radiofrequency ablation leads to eradication of neoplasia in 93.4%of patients and eradication of intestinal metaplasia in 73.1%of patients.Innovative techniques such as submucosal tunneling with endoscopic resection are developed for management of submucosal tumors of the esophagus.This review includes a discussion of various endoscopic techniques and their clinical outcomes in early squamous cell cancer,adenocarcinoma and submucosal tumors.An overview of comparison between esophagectomy and endoscopic therapy are also presented.Vedha Sanghi Hina Amin Madhusudhan R Sanaka Prashanthi N Thota 2019World Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy2019,11,10:4

6Role of platelet-albumin-bilirubin score in predicting re-bleeding after band ligation for acute variceal hemorrhage显示文摘Platelet-albumin-bilirubin(PALBI)score was proposed by Roayaie et al with modification of previously studied albumin-bilirubin score to include platelet as an indicator of portal hypertension in 2015.Predictive value of this score was recently tested by Elshaarawy et al for re-bleeding in patients presenting with acute variceal hemorrhage.We did a similar study at our center(n=170)to look at incidence of re-bleeding after band ligation defined as drop in 2 units of hemoglobin and witnessed melena or hematemesis within 2 wk of the procedure.We calculated PALBI scores for all patients based on lab values prior to the procedure.Of 25.3%had re-bleeding episodes,area under receiver operating characteristic curve for PALBI as predictor of re-bleeding was 0.601(95%confidence interval:0.502-0.699).PALBI score showed moderate accuracy at predicting re-bleeding in our population.Muhammad S Faisal Tavankit Singh Hina Amin Jamak Modaresi Esfeh 2020World Journal of Hepatology2020,12,10:3
7Dengue fever treatment with Carica papaya leaves extracts显示文摘The main objective of the current study is to investigate the potential of Carica papaya leaves extracts against Dengue fever in 45 year old patient bitten by carrier mosquitoes.For the treatment of Dengue fever the extract was prepared in water.25 mL of aqueous extract of C.papaya leaves was administered to patient infected with Dengue fever twice daily i.e.morning and evening for five consecutive days.Before the extract administration the blood samples from patient were analyzed.Platelets count(PLT),White Blood Cells(WBC) and Neutrophils(NEUT) decreased from 176×10~3/μ L,8.10×10~3/μ L,84.0%to 55×10~3/μ L,3.7×10~3/μL and 46.0%.Subsequently,the blood samples were rechecked after the administration of leaves extract.It was observed that the PLT count increased from 55×10~3/μ L to 168×10~3/μ L,WBC from 3.7×10~3/μ L to 7.7×10~3/μ L and NEUT from 46.0%to 78.3%.From the patient feelings and blood reports it showed that Carica papaya leaves aqueous extract exhibited potential activity against Dengue fever.Furthermore,the different parts of this valuable specie can be further used as a strong natural candidate against viral diseases.Nisar Ahmad Hina Fazal Muhammad Ayaz Bilal Haider Abbasi Ijaz Mohammad Lubna Fazal 2011Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2011,1,4:3

9Upper-and Lower-tropospheric Circulation Anomalies Associated with Interannual Variation of Pakistan Rainfall during Summer显示文摘This study investigated the large-scale circulation anomalies,in both the upper and lower troposphere,associated with the interannual variation of rainfall in Pakistan during summer,using the station observation data in this country and circulation data of the NCEP−NCAR reanalysis from 1981 to 2017.Results showed that the upper-and lower-tropospheric circulation anomalies associated with monthly rainfall variability exhibit similar features from June to August,so analyses were performed on June−August circulation and Pakistan rainfall data.The analyzed results indicated that summer rainfall in Pakistan is enhanced when there is an anticyclonic anomaly to the northwest of Pakistan in the upper troposphere and easterly anomalies along the southern foothills of the Himalayas in the lower troposphere,and vice versa.These upper-and lower-tropospheric circulation anomalies were found to be related,but show unique features.The upper-tropospheric anticyclonic anomaly is closely related to the Silk Road Pattern along the Asian westerly jet,while the lower-tropospheric easterly anomalies are related to the cyclonic anomaly to the south of Pakistan,i.e.,intensified South Asian monsoon trough.The results presented here suggest that the interannual variability of summer rainfall in Pakistan is a combined result of upper-and lower-tropospheric circulation anomalies,and of extratropical and tropical circulation anomalies.Riyu LU Saadia HINA Xiaowei HONG 2020Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2020,37,11:2
10In vitro larvicidal potential against Anopheles stephensi and antioxidative enzyme activities of Ginkgo biloba,Stevia rebaudiana and Parthenium hysterophorous显示文摘Objective:To investigate in vitro larvicidal and antioxidant enzymes potential of the medicinal plants Ginkgo biloba(G.biloba),Stevia rebaudiana(S.rebaudiana) and Parthenium hysterophorous(P.hysterophorous) against Anopheles stephensi(An.stephensi) 4th instars larvae. Methods:For evaluation of larvicidal potential,the ethanolic,methanolic and dichloromethane leaves extracts of three different plants were used in dose-dependent experiments in two media, while the antioxidant enzymes activities were investigated using four different methods viz., superoxide dismutase,peroxidase,ascorbate and catalase.Results:An.stephensi has developed resistance to various synthetic insecticides,making its control increasingly difficult.The comparative performance of ethanolic extracts(65%-90%) was found better than the methanolic extract(70%-87%) and dichloromethane extract(60%-70%).Among the three plants extracts tested in two media,S.rebaudiana exhibited higher larvicidal activity with LC50(24 h) in methanolic extract than P.hysterophorous and G.biloba.G.biloba and P.hysterophorous exhibited the strongest antioxidative enzymes activity and S.rebaudiana were less active and no significant difference was observed.Conclusions:These three plants exhibit larvicidal potential and can be further used for vector control alternative to synthetic insecticide due to eco-friendly and diseases control,furthermore these plant species have potent antioxidative enzyme activities, therefore,making them strong natural candidate particularly for diseases which are caused due to free radicals.Nisar Ahmad Hina Fazal Bilal H Abbasi Mazhar Iqbal 2011Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2011,4,3:2
11Determination of physical properties for the mixtures of [BMIM]Cl with different organic solvents显示文摘Physical properties including refractive index, density, viscosity and conductivity for binary mixtures of 1-butyl-3-methyl imidazolium chloride([BMIM]Cl) and different organic solvents at 298.15 K have been investigated. Excess molar volumes have been calculated and obtained data has been fitted by the Redlich–Kister equation. The density and refractive index were found to increase with increasing concentration of [BMIM]Cl, however, exceptions do exist as in the case of dimethyl sulfoxide(DMSO)/[BMIM]Cl. For DMSO/[BMIM]Cl, the density decreases with increasing concentration. The addition of different organic solvents was able to disrupt the interactions within mixtures, leading to free mobility of ions. The free mobility of ions has been found to enhance conductivity and decrease viscosity to varying extents in all mixtures studied. 14Group psychological intervention for maternal depression: A nested qualitative study from Karachi, Pakistan显示文摘AIM To understand the experience of maternal depression, the factors implicated in accessing health, and the acceptability of the psychosocial intervention. METHODS The participants were recruited from the paediatrics outpatient department of Civil Hospital Karachi, Pakistan. The study started in December 2009 and completed in December 2010. Women with maternal depression, aged 18-44 years with children aged 0-30 mo who had received nutritional supplements, and participated in the intervention programme [called Learning through Play(LTP) plus] were included in the study. Qualitative interviews were conducted with 8 participants before the intervention and 7 participants after the intervention. A semi structured topic guide was used to conduct the interviews.RESULTS Framework analysis procedures were used to analyse the qualitative data. Four themes emerged:(1) the women's contextual environment: Interpersonal conflicts, lack of social support and financial issues being the major barriers in assessing healthcare;(2) women's isolation and powerlessness within the environment: Sense of loneliness was identified as a restricting factor to access healthcare;(3) the impact of the intervention(LTP-Plus): Women felt 'listened to' and seemed empowered; and(4) empowered transformed women within the same contextual environment: The facilitator provided a 'gardening role' in nurturing the women resulting in a positive transformation within the same environment.
