| 1 | Translational status of biomedical Mg devices in China显示文摘Magnesium(Mg)and its alloys as temporary medical implants with biodegradable and properly mechanical properties have been investigated for a long time.There are already three kinds of biodegradable Mg implants which are approved by Conformite Europeene(CE)or Korea Food and Drug Administration(KFDA),but not China Food and Drug Administration(CFDA,now it is National Medical Products Administration,NMPA).As we know,Chinese researchers,surgeons,and entrepreneurs have tried a lot to research and develop biodegradable Mg implants which might become other new approved implants for clinical applications.So in this review,we present the representative Mg implants of three categories,orthopedic implants,surgical implants,and intervention implants and provide an overview of current achievement in China from academic publications and Chinese patents.We would like to provide a systematic way to translate Mg and its alloy implants from experiment designs to clinical products. | Yu Sun Hongliu Wu Wenhui Wang Rui Zan Hongzhou Peng Shaoxiang Zhang Xiaonong Zhang | 2019 | Bioactive Materials2019,4,1: | 2 |
| 2 | Anti-Seizure and Neuronal Protective Effects of Irisin in Kainic Acid-Induced Chronic Epilepsy Model with Spontaneous Seizures显示文摘An increased level of reactive oxygen species is a key factor in neuronal apoptosis and epileptic seizures.Irisin reportedly attenuates the apoptosis and injury induced by oxidative stress.Therefore,we evaluated the effects of exogenous irisin in a kainic acid(KA)-induced chronic spontaneous epilepsy rat model.The results indicated that exogenous irisin significantly attenuated the KA-induced neuronal injury,learning and memory defects,and seizures.Irisin treatment also increased the levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF)and uncoupling protein 2(UCP2),which were initially reduced following KA administration.Furthermore,the specific inhibitor of UCP2(genipin)was administered to evaluate the possible protective mechanism of irisin.The reduced apoptosis,neurodegeneration,and spontaneous seizures in rats treated with irisin were significantly reversed by genipin administration.Our findings indicated that neuronal injury in KA-induced chronic epilepsy might be related to reduced levels of BDNF and UCP2.Moreover,our results confirmed the inhibition of neuronal injury and epileptic seizures by exogenous irisin.The protective effects of irisin may be mediated through the BDNF-mediated UCP2 level.Our results thus highlight irisin as a valuable therapeutic strategy against neuronal injury and epileptic seizures. | Jie Yu Yao Cheng Yaru Cui Yujie Zhai Wenshen Zhang Mengdi Zhang Wenyu Xin Jia Liang Xiaohong Pan Qiaoyun Wang Hongliu Sun | 2022 | Neuroscience Bulletin2022,38,11: | 1 |

| 8 | Role of Elevated Thrombospondin-1 in Kainic Acid-Induced Status Epilepticus显示文摘Previous studies have suggested that thrombospondin-1(TSP-1) regulates the transforming growth factor beta 1(TGF-b1)/phosphorylated Smad2/3(p Smad2/3) pathway. Moreover, TSP-1 is closely associated with epilepsy. However, the role of the TSP-1-regulated TGFb1/p Smad2/3 pathway in seizures remains unclear. In this study, changes in this pathway were assessed following kainic acid(KA)-induced status epilepticus(SE) in rats.The results showed that increases in the TSP-1/TGF-b1/p Smad2/3 levels spatially and temporally matched the increases in glial fibrillary acidic protein(GFAP)/chondroitin sulfate(CS56) levels following KA administration.Inhibition of TSP-1 expression by small interfering RNA or inhibition of TGF-b1 activation with a Leu-Ser-Lys-Leu peptide significantly reduced the severity of KA-induced acute seizures. These anti-seizure effects were accompanied by decreased GFAP/CS56 expression and Smad2/3 phosphorylation. Moreover, inhibiting Smad2/3 phosphorylation with ponatinib or SIS3 also significantly reduced seizure severity, alongside reducing GFAP/CS56 immunoreactivity. | 10 | Intelligent Knee Prostheses: A Systematic Review of Control Strategies显示文摘The intelligent knee prosthesis is capable of human-like bionic lower limb control through advanced control systems and artificial intelligence algorithms that will potentially minimize gait limitations for above-knee amputees and facilitate their reintegration into society.In this paper,we sum up the control strategies corresponding to the prevailing control objectives(position and impedance)of the current intelligent knee prosthesis.Although these control strategies have been successfully implemented and validated in relevant experiments,the existing deficiencies still fail to achieve optimal performance of the controllers,which complicates the definition of a standard control method.Before a mature control system can be developed,it is more important to realize the full potential for the control strategy,which requires upgrading and refining the relevant key technologies based on the existing control methods.For this reason,we discuss potential areas for improvement of the prosthetic control system based on the summarized control strategies,including intent recognition,sensor system,prosthetic evaluation,and parameter optimization algorithms,providing future directions toward optimizing control strategies for the next generation of intelligent knee prostheses. | Linrong Li Xiaoming Wang Qiaoling Meng Changlong Chen Jie Sun Hongliu Yu | 2022 | Journal of Bionic Engineering2022,19,5: | 0 |
