| 1 | High prevalence of multidrug-resistance in Acinetobacter baumannii and dissemination of carbapenemase-encoding genes bla_(OXA-23-like),bla_(OXA-24-like)and bla_(NDM-1) in Algiers hospitals显示文摘Objective:To assess and characterize antibiotic resistance in Acinetobacter baumannii strains recovered from 5 health-care facilities in Algiers.Methods:Antibiotic susceptibility testing was performed by agar diffusion and agar dilution methods,resistance genes were identified by PCR and sequencing,and molecular typing of isolates was carried out by enterobacterial repetitive intergenic consensus-PCR(ERIC-PCR).Results:Among 125 tested isolates,117(93.6% ) were multidrug-resistant.of which 94(75.2% ) were imipenem resistant.The bla_(ADC)and bla_(OXA-51-like) genes were detected in all isolates,in association with ISAba I sequence in 84% and 8% (imipenem resistant) of isolates,respectively.The bla_(OXA-23-like) and bla_(OXA-24-like)carbapenemase genes were delected in 67.02% and 20.21% of imipenem-resistant isolates,respectively.The bla_(OXA-23-like) gene is linked to ISAba1 or ISAba4 elements.The metallo-β-lactamase NDM-1 gene was found in 10(10.6% ) imipenem-resisianl strains from three hospitals,it is linked to ISAba125 clement in nine strains.Extended spectrum β-lactamases production was not detected.Imipenem and cefotaxime resistance phenolypes could not be transferred to Escherichia coli by conjugation.Outer membrane protein CarO gene was not delected in four imipenem-resisianl isolates.The aac(6')-1b.sul1,sul2,tetA and tetB genes were present in 5.31% .36.17% .77.65% .1.06% and 65.92% of strains,respectively.Class 1 integrons were detected in 23.4% strains.KRIC-PCR typing showed a genetic diversity among bla_(OXA-23-like) and bla_(OXA-24-like) positive strains,while clonality was observed among bla_(NDM-1)positives.Conclusions:This study highlighted the high prevalence of imipenem resistance in Acinetobacter baumannii in Algiers hospitals mediated mainly by bla_(OXA-23-like),bla_(OXA-24-like),and bla_(NDM-1) genes. | Khadidja Khorsi Yamina Messai Moufida Hamidi Houria Ammari Rabah Bakour | 2015 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2015,8,6: | 20 |
| 2 | NOD2/CARD15 gene mutations in North Algerian patients with inflammatory bowel disease显示文摘AIM: To analyse allelic frequency of NOD2 gene variantsand to assess their correlation with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) in Algeria.METHODS: We studied 132 unrelated patients diagnosed with IBD, 86 with Crohn's disease(CD) and 46 with ulcerative colitis(UC). Data was prospectively collected between January 2011 and December 2013. The demographic and clinical characteristics were recorded for all the patients. A group of 114 healthy unrelated individuals were selected as controls. All groups studied originated from different regions of North Algeria and confirmed the Algerian origin of their parents and grandparents. Informed and written consent was obtained from each of the participants. All individuals were genotyped for the three CDassociated NOD2 variants(p.Arg702 Trp, p.Gly908 Arg and p.Leu1007 fsins C mutations) using the polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism method. Allele and genotype frequencies in patients and control subjects were compared by χ2 test and Fisher's exact test where appropriate. Odds ratios(OR) and 95% confidence intervals(95%CI) were also estimated. Association analyses were performed to study the influence of these variants on IBD and on clinical phenotypes.RESULTS: The p.Arg702 Trp mutation showed the highest frequency in CD patients(8%) compared to UC patients(2%)(P = 0.09, OR = 3.67, 95%CI: 0.48-4.87) and controls(5%)(P = 0.4, OR = 1.47, 95%CI: 0.65-3.31). In CD patients allelic frequencies of p.Gly908 Arg and p.Leu1007 fsins C variants compared to HC were 3% vs 2%(P = 0.5, OR = 1.67, 95%CI: 0.44-6.34); 2% vs 1%(P = 0.4 OR = 2.69 95%CI: 0.48-14.87 respectively). In UC patients, allelic frequencies of p.Gly908 Arg and p.Leu1007 fsins C variants compared to HC were 1% vs 2%(P = 1, OR = 1.62, 95%CI: 0.17-4.74) and 2% vs 1%(P = 0.32, OR = 0.39, 95%CI: 0.05-2.87). The total frequency of the mutated NOD2 chromosomes was higher in CD(13%), than in HC(8%) and UC(5%). In addition, NOD2 variants were linked to a particular clinical sub-phenotype in CD in this Algerian cohort. As expected, the three NOD2 variants showed a significant association with CD but did not reach statistical significance, despite the fact that the allele frequency of NOD2 variants was in the range found in most of the European populations. | 5 | Energy based 3D trajectory tracking control of quadrotors with model-free based on-line disturbance compensation显示文摘In this work, a Revisited form of the so-called Model-Free Control(R-MFC) is derived.Herein, the MFC principle is employed to deal with the unknown part of a plant only(i.e., unmodeled dynamics, disturbances, etc.) and occurs beside an Interconnection and Damping AssignmentPassivity Based Control(IDA-PBC) strategy. Using the proposed formulation, it is shown that we can significantly improve the performance of the control through the reshaping properties of the IDA-PBC technique. Moreover, the control robustness level is increased via a compensation of the time-varying disturbances and the unmodeled system dynamics. This on-line compensation capability is provided by the MFC principle. The problem is studied in the case of Multi-Input Multi-Output(MIMO) mechanical systems with an explicit application to a small Vertical Take-Off and Landing(VTOL) Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV) where a stability analysis is also provided. | 14 | An ethnopharmacological survey of medicinal plants used in the traditional treatment of human infertility in eastern Algeria显示文摘Objective:To summarize medicinal plants used in the treatment of couple fertility disorders.Methods:An ethnopharmacological survey was conducted with 30 traditional healers from some localities of Skikda region in eastern Algeria.A standard questionnaire was used in the interview which focused mainly:the treated fertility disorders,the used medicinal plants species,parts used,and preparation methods.The relative frequency of citation and percentages of infertility troubles were calculated and analyzed.Results:The most important treated disorders in men were dysfunction of libido(44.22%),low sperm concentration and motility(25.33%),low semen volume(17.67%)and prostate disorders(5.66%).Women were treated mainly for menstruation disorders(35.32%),breast problems(29.53%)and sexual asthenia(25.82%).The survey identified 28 plant species belonging to 15 families,used by different ethnic groups,particularly women(58.00%),to address different fertility disorders.Three plant families were largely used viz Lamiaceae,Asteraceae,and Apiaceae.In term of relative frequency citation,ten dominated plant species were:Zingiber officinalis L.(0.96),Nigella sativa L.(0.83),Lepidium sativum L.(0.80),Capsicum annuum L.(0.60),Cuminum cyminum L.(0.56),Origanum vulgare L.(0.55),Allium sativum L.(0.50),Petroselinum sativum L.(0.43),Salvia officinalis L.(0.42),and Foeniculum vulgare L.(0.40).A number of investigated plants were scientifically confirmed by phytochemical and pharmacological studies to have one or more significant effects on couple fertility.However,much controversy was found in literature concerning the efficacy of some cited plants.Conclusions:The study highlights the important use of medicinal plants in management of couple infertility in eastern Algeria.More experimental studies are recommended to confirm or to refute these traditional uses and to ascertain the safety of these medicinal plants to consumers. | Zouhir Djerrou Houria Benyezzar-Kenana Zineb Maameri Louiza Benhamza | 2022 | Asian pacific Journal of Reproduction2022,11,2: | 0 |

| 18 | The impact of climate change on groundwater quantity and quality in a semi-arid environment:a case study of Ain Azel plain(Northeast Algeria)显示文摘In the last decade,North Africa has witnessed significant population growth,particularly those bordering the Mediterranean Sea.This led to increased demand for groundwater,which is an essential source for various water uses such as drinking water supplies and irrigation.Generally,human activities play a crucial role in the different quantitative and qualitative changes in groundwater.Now,climate changes such as a decrease in precipitation have also led to a shortage of water resources and a decline in the groundwater table.This paper presents the impact of climate changes on groundwater resources in the Ain Azel region,Setif,northeastern Algeria.The analysis of longterm spatiotemporal variability in rainfall over 63 years(1958–2021)revealed a significant decline in groundwater recharge,especially after 2013.In contrast,the Pettitt and Mann–Kendall tests show increased temperatures with breaks between 1984 and 1986.A piezometric analysis of the alluvial aquifer demonstrated a significant decline in groundwater levels in the last 20 years.Hydrochemical analysis showed that groundwater in the region is dominated by Ca–Mg–Cl water type,which indicates the presence of water salinity phenomenon.Water Quality Index(WQI)analysis showed the deterioration of groundwater in the area,which may be caused by several factors:brine intrusion from the Salt Lake(Sebkha)in the north;the dissolution of evaporites(Triassic)and/or anthropogenic sources of agricultural and industrial origin.Our findings provide an overview summarizing the state of groundwater,which will help improve groundwater resource management in the region in the coming years. | Hasna Aouati Abdeslam Demdoum Houria Kada Riad Kouadra | 2023 | Acta Geochimica2023,42,6: | 0 |
