| 1 | Multimorbidity patterns and association with mortality in 0.5 million Chinese adults显示文摘Background:Few studies have assessed the relationship between multimorbidity patterns and mortality risk in the Chinese population.We aimed to identify multimorbidity patterns and examined the associations of multimorbidity patterns and the number of chronic diseases with the risk of mortality among Chinese middle-aged and older adults.Methods:We used data from the China Kadoorie Biobank and included 512,723 participants aged 30 to 79 years.Multimorbidity was defined as the presence of two or more of the 15 chronic diseases collected by self-report or physical examination at baseline.Multimorbidity patterns were identified using hierarchical cluster analysis.Cox regression was used to estimate the associations of multimorbidity patterns and the number of chronic diseases with all-cause and cause-specific mortality.Results:Overall,15.8%of participants had multimorbidity.The prevalence of multimorbidity increased with age and was higher in urban than rural participants.Four multimorbidity patterns were identified,including cardiometabolic multimorbidity(diabetes,coronary heart disease,stroke,and hypertension),respiratory multimorbidity(tuberculosis,asthma,and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease),gastrointestinal and hepatorenal multimorbidity(gallstone disease,chronic kidney disease,cirrhosis,peptic ulcer,and cancer),and mental and arthritis multimorbidity(neurasthenia,psychiatric disorder,and rheumatoid arthritis).During a median of 10.8 years of follow-up,49,371 deaths occurred.Compared with participants without multimorbidity,cardiometabolic multimorbidity(hazard ratios[HR]=2.20,95%confidence intervals[CI]:2.14-2.26)and respiratory multimorbidity(HR=2.13,95%CI:1.97-2.31)demonstrated relatively higher risks of mortality,followed by gastrointestinal and hepatorenal multimorbidity(HR=1.33,95%CI:1.22-1.46).The mortality risk increased by 36%(HR=1.36,95%CI:1.35-1.37)with every additional disease.Conclusion:Cardiometabolic multimorbidity and respiratory multimorbidity posed the highest threat on mortality risk and deserved particular attention in Chinese adults. | Junning Fan Zhijia Sun Canqing Yu Yu Guo Pei Pei Ling Yang Yiping Chen Huaidong Du Dianjianyi Sun Yuanjie Pang Jun Zhang Simon Gilbert Daniel Avery Junshi Chen Zhengming Chen Jun Lyu Liming Li On Behalf of the China Kadoorie Biobank Collaborative Group | 2022 | Chinese Medical Journal2022,,6: | 17 |
| 2 | Research on crystal growth and properties of a new nonlinear optical crystal:Bismuth borate BiB_3O_6显示文摘BiB3O6 (BIBO) single crystals with sizes of 44 mm × 24 mm × 10 mm and weight of 24.7 g have been successfully grown by the top-seeded method. In this note, the preparation of seed, the growth of crystal and some problems encountered are reported. The lattice parameters of BIBO are a =7.1203(7)A, b = 4.9948(7)A, c = 6.5077(7)A, β= 105.586(8) ', V=222.93(5)A3, which were determined by BRUKER-P4 four-circle diffractometer. BIBO is biaxial crystal and the relative orientation of (X, Y, Z) with regard to (a, b, c) is: X|| b, (Y, c) =47.2°, (Z, a) = 31.6°, determined by the X-ray analysis combined with polarized microscopy. The second-harmonic-generation (SHG) conversion efficiency of the sample for 1.064 μm light is up to 67.7%. We have also obtained the third harmonic generation (THG) of 1.064 μm, namely, 1.064 μm + 0.532 μn →0.355 μm. | 3 | Illumina-Based Analysis of Bulk and Rhizosphere Soil Bacterial Communities in Paddy Fields Under Mixed Heavy Metal Contamination显示文摘There is an increasing concern about rice(Oryza sativa L.) soil microbiomes under the influence of mixed heavy metal contamination. We used the high-throughput Illumina Mi Seq sequencing approach to explore the bacterial diversity and community composition of soils in four paddy fields, exhibiting four degrees of mixed heavy metal(Cd, Pb and Zn) pollution, and examined the effects of these metals on the bacterial communities. Our results showed that up to 2 104 to 4 359 bacterial operational taxonomic units(OTUs)were found in the bulk and rhizosphere soils of the paddy fields, with the dominant bacterial phyla(greater than 1% of the overall community) including Proteobacteria, Actinobacteria, Firmicutes, Acidobacteria, Gemmatimonadetes, Chloroflexi, Bacteroidetes and Nitrospirae. A number of rare and candidate bacterial groups were also detected, and Saprospirales, HOC36, SC-I-84 and Anaerospora were rarely detected in rice paddy soils. Venn diagram analysis showed that 174 bacterial OTUs were shared among the bulk soils with four pollution degrees. Rice rhizosphere soils displayed higher bacterial diversity indices(ACE and Chao 1) and more unique OTUs than bulk soils. | 4 | Spatial-temporal dynamics of desert vegetation and its responses to climatic variations over the last three decades:a case study of Hexi region in Northwest China显示文摘Analysis of spatial-temporal variations of desert vegetation under the background of climate changes can provide references for ecological restoration in arid and semi-arid areas.In this study,we used the Global Inventory Modeling and Mapping Studies(GIMMS)NDVI data from 1982 to 2006 and Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(MODIS)NDVI data from 2000 to 2013 to reveal the dynamics of desert vegetation in Hexi region of Northwest China over the past three decades.We also used the annual temperature and precipitation data acquired from the Chinese meteorological stations to analyze the response of desert vegetation to climatic variations.The average value of NDVImax(the maximum NDVI during the growing season)for desert vegetation in Hexi region increased at the rate of 0.65×10–3/a(P<0.05)from 1982 to 2013,and the significant increases of NDVImax mainly appeared in the typical desert vegetation areas.Vegetation was significantly improved in the lower reaches of Shule and Shiyang river basins,and the weighted mean center of desert vegetation mainly shifted toward the lower reaches of the two basins.Almost 95.32% of the total desert vegetation area showed positive correlation between NDVImax and annual precipitation,indicating that precipitation is the key factor for desert vegetation growth in the entire study area.Moreover,the areas with non-significant positive correlation between NDVImax and annual precipitation mainly located in the lower reaches of Shiyang and Shule river basins,this may be due to human activities.Only 7.64% of the desert vegetation showed significant positive correlation between NDVImax and annual precipitation in the Shule River Basin(an extremely arid area),indicating that precipitation is not the most important factor for vegetation growth in this basin,and further studies are needed to investigate the mechanism for this phenomenon. | YANG Xuemei LIU Shizeng YANG Taibao XU Xianying KANG Caizhou TANG Jinnian WEI Huaidong Mihretab G GHEBREZGABHER LI Zhiqi | 2016 | Journal of Arid Land2016,8,4: | 10 |

| 6 | Chemical Composition and Antimicrobial Activity of Essential Oil of Asarum caulescene显示文摘Both essential oils of fresh and air-dried Asarum caulescene (Maxim.) were analyzed by GC-MS in three different polarities. The results show that thirty-four components were identified in the oils, and main compounds of both oils were β-pinene (7.63% vs. 20.72%), 2-carene (8.94% vs. 7.99%), β-phellandrene (7.80% vs. 14.39%), 1,8-cineole (8.91% vs. 13.29%) and germacrone (46.64% vs. 6.64% ), however, the content of monoterpene hydrocarbons(30.29% vs. 52.30% ) and oxygenated sesquiterpenes( 47.69% vs. 10.65%) of both oils was different. The antimicrobial activity of the oil was evaluated against 3 fungi and 11 bacteria including 7 clinical isolated strains. This article is a proof-of-principle report of a novel DMS–MS/MS method to separate and simultaneously quantify epimers, taking PGF2α and its 8-epimer, 8-iso-PGF2α, as an example. | 8 | The design and construction of a pulsed beam generation system based on high intensity cyclotron显示文摘In order to perform the studies on a pulsed beam generation system based on a high intensity cyclotron, a test beam line with a pulsed beam generation for a 10 MeV compact cyclotron (CYCIAE-10) has been designed and constructed at China Institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE). A 70 MHz continuous H- beam can be pulsed to the pulse length of less than 10 ns with a repetition rate of 4.4 MHz. The sine waveform with a frequency of 2.2 MHz is adopted for the chopper and a mesh structure with single drift and dual gaps is used for the 70 MHz buncher. A helical resonator is designed and constructed based on simulations and experiments on the RF matching for the chopper. A helical inductance loop that is exceptionally large of its kind and equipped with water cooling for the resonator has been successfully wound and a 500 W solid RF amplifier has been manufactured. A special measuring device has been designed, which can be used to measure both the DC beam and the pulsed beam.
