Multimorbidity patterns and association with mortality in 0.5 million Chinese adults显示文摘Background:Few studies have assessed the relationship between multimorbidity patterns and mortality risk in the Chinese population. We aimed to identify multimorbidity patterns and examined the associations of multimorbidity patterns and the number of chronic diseases with the risk of mortality among Chinese middle-aged and older adults. Methods:We used data from the China Kadoorie Biobank and included 512,723 participants aged 30 to 79 years.Multimorbidity was defined as the presence of two or more of the 15 chronic diseases collected by self-report or physical examination at baseline.Multimorbidity patterns were identified using hierarchical cluster analysis.Cox regression was used to estimate the associations of multimorbidity patterns and the number of chronic diseases with all-cause and cause-specific mortality.Results:Overall,15.8%of participants had multimorbidity. The prevalence of multimorbidity increased with age and was higher in urban than rural participants.Four multimorbidity patterns were identified, including cardiometabolic multimorbidity(diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke, and hypertension),respiratory multimorbidity(tuberculosis, asthma, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease),gastrointestinal and hepatorenal multimorbidity(gallstone disease, chronic kidney disease, cirrhosis, peptic ulcer, and cancer),and mental and arthritis multimorbidity(neurasthenia, psychiatric disorder, and rheumatoid arthritis).During a median of 10.8 years of follow-up,49,371 deaths occurred.Compared with participants without multimorbidity, cardiometabolic multimorbidity(hazard ratios[HR]=2.20,95%confidence intervals[CI]:2.14-2.26)and respiratory multimorbidity(HR=2.13,95%CI:1.97-2.31)demonstrated relatively higher risks of mortality, followed by gastrointestinal and hepatorenal multimorbidity(HR=1.33,95%CI:1.22-1.46).The mortality risk increased by 36%(HR=1.36,95%CI:1.35-1.37)with every additional disease. Conclusion:Cardiometabolic multimorbidity and respiratory multimorbidity posed the highest threat on mortality risk and deserved particular attention in Chinese adults. | Junning Fan Zhijia Sun Canqing Yu Yu Guo Pei Pei Ling Yang Yiping Chen Huaidong Du Dianjianyi Sun Yuanjie Pang Jun Zhang Simon Gilbert Daniel Avery Junshi Chen Zhengming Chen Jun Lyu Liming Li On Behalf of the China Kadoorie Biobank Collaborative Group | 2022 | Chinese Medical Journal2022,,6: | 17
Illumina-Based Analysis of Bulk and Rhizosphere Soil Bacterial Communities in Paddy Fields Under Mixed Heavy Metal Contamination显示文摘There is an increasing concern about rice(Oryza sativa L.) soil microbiomes under the influence of mixed heavy metal contamination. We used the high-throughput Illumina Mi Seq sequencing approach to explore the bacterial diversity and community composition of soils in four paddy fields, exhibiting four degrees of mixed heavy metal(Cd, Pb and Zn) pollution, and examined the effects of these metals on the bacterial communities. Our results showed that up to 2 104 to 4 359 bacterial operational taxonomic units(OTUs)were found in the bulk and rhizosphere soils of the paddy fields, with the dominant bacterial phyla(greater than 1% of the overall community) including Proteobacteria, Actinobacteria, Firmicutes, Acidobacteria, Gemmatimonadetes, Chloroflexi, Bacteroidetes and Nitrospirae. A number of rare and candidate bacterial groups were also detected, and Saprospirales, HOC36, SC-I-84 and Anaerospora were rarely detected in rice paddy soils. Venn diagram analysis showed that 174 bacterial OTUs were shared among the bulk soils with four pollution degrees. Rice rhizosphere soils displayed higher bacterial diversity indices(ACE and Chao 1) and more unique OTUs than bulk soils. Total Cd and Zn in the soils were significantly negatively correlated with ACE and Chao 1, respectively, and the Mantel test suggested that total Pb, total Zn, p H, total nitrogen and total phosphorus significantly affected the community structure.Overall, these results provided baseline data for the bacterial communities in bulk and rhizosphere soils of paddy fields contaminated with mixed heavy metals. | HE Huaidong LI Waichin Riqing YU YE Zhihong | 2017 | Pedosphere2017,27,3: | 10
Chemical Composition and Antimicrobial Activity of Essential Oil of Asarum caulescene显示文摘Both essential oils of fresh and air-dried Asarum caulescene (Maxim.) were analyzed by GC-MS in three different polarities. The results show that thirty-four components were identified in the oils, and main compounds of both oils were β-pinene (7.63% vs. 20.72%), 2-carene (8.94% vs. 7.99%), β-phellandrene (7.80% vs. 14.39%), 1,8-cineole (8.91% vs. 13.29%) and germacrone (46.64% vs. 6.64% ), however, the content of monoterpene hydrocarbons(30.29% vs. 52.30% ) and oxygenated sesquiterpenes( 47.69% vs. 10.65%) of both oils was different. The antimicrobial activity of the oil was evaluated against 3 fungi and 11 bacteria including 7 clinical isolated strains. Our results showed that both oils presented a broad antimicrobial spectrum, and compared with the essential oil from fresh herb, the extracted oil from dried herb had better antimicrobial activity, its minimum inhibitory concentration(c_ mi ) values of dried herb were 0.16-2.5 g/L and lowest minimum bactericidal concentration(c_ mb ) value was 0.31 g/L. | ZHU Shunying YANG Yang YU Huaidong YING Yue LONG Dong Zou Guolin | 2006 | Wuhan University Journal of Natural Sciences2006,11,3: | 7
Separation and simultaneous quantitation of PGF2α and its epimer 8-iso-PGF2α using modifier-assisted differential mobility spectrometry tandem mass spectrometry显示文摘Because many therapeutic agents are contaminated by epimeric impurities or form epimers as a result of metabolism, analytical tools capable of determining epimers are increasingly in demand. This article is a proof-of-principle report of a novel DMS–MS/MS method to separate and simultaneously quantify epimers, taking PGF2α and its 8-epimer, 8-iso-PGF2α, as an example. Good accuracy and precision were achieved in the range of 10–500 ng/m L with a run time of only 1.5 min. Isopropanol as organic modifier facilitated a good combination of sensitivity and separation. The method is the first example of the quantitation of epimers without chromatographic separation. | Chunsu Liang Hui Sun Xiangjun Meng Lei Yina J.Paul Fawcett Huaidong Yu Ting Liu Jingkai Gu | 2018 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2018,8,2: | 3
Associations of muscle mass, strength, and quality with all-cause mortality in China:a population-based cohort study显示文摘Background It remains unclear about the association of muscle mass, strength, and quality with death in the general Chinese population of diverse economical and geographical backgrounds. The present study aimed to comprehensively examine such associations across different regions in China. Methods Based on the China Kadoorie Biobank study, the present study included 23,290 participants who were aged 38 to 88 years and had no prevalent cardiovascular diseases or cancer.Muscle mass and grip strength were measured using calibrated instruments.Arm muscle quality was defined as the ratio of grip strength to arm muscle mass.Low muscle mass, grip strength, and arm muscle quality were defined as the sex-specific lowest quintiles of muscle mass index, grip strength, and arm muscle quality, respectively.Cox proportional hazards models yielded hazard ratios(HRs)and 95%confidence intervals(CIs)for risks of all-cause mortality in relation to muscle mass, strength, and quality. Results During a median follow-up of 3.98 years,739 participants died. The HR(95%CI)of all-cause mortality risk was 1.28(1.08–1.51)for low appendicular muscle mass index,1.38(1.16–1.62)for low total muscle mass index,1.68(1.41–2.00)for low grip strength, and 1.41(1.20–1.66)for low arm muscle quality in models adjusted for sociodemographic characteristics, lifestyle factors, and medical histories. Conclusion Low muscle mass, grip strength, and arm muscle quality are all associated with short-term increased risks of mortality, indicating the importance of maintaining normal muscle mass, strength, and quality for general Chinese adults. | Man Wu Yuxia Wei Jun Lv Yu Guo Pei Pei Jiachen Li Huaidong Du Ling Yang Yiping Chen Xiaohui Sun Hua Zhang Junshi Chen Zhengming Chen Canqing Yu Liming Li 无 | 2022 | Chinese Medical Journal2022,,11: | 2
