1Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cells Act as the Most Competent Cell Type in Linking Antiviral Innate and Adaptive Immune Responses显示文摘Appropriate in vivo control of plasmacytoid dendritic cell (pDC) recruitment and activation is a fundamental requirement for defense against viral infection. During this process, a pivotal event that influences the outcome of viral infection is the production of high levels of type I interferon by pDCs. In particular, recent research findings showed that pDCs not only shape the nature of innate resistance, but are also responsible for the successful transition from innate to adaptive immunity for viral resistance. In addition, pDCs can differentiate into antigen presenting cells that may regulate tolerance to a given pathogen. Importantly, in a series of recent clinical studies,pDCs appeared to be defective in number and function in conditions of chronic viral diseases such as infected with HIV-1, HBV or HCV. pDC-associated clinical antiviral therapy is also emerging. 4A New Insight into the Influence of Composition of Fault Rocks on Aseismic and Seismic Fault Slip显示文摘Active faults can slip either slowly and continuously by aseismic creep, or abruptly by a seismic event. Both slip modes of faults are closely related to the composition of fault rocks. However, the actual materials resulting in differences of slip behavior remain uncertain. The Guanxian-Anxian fault (GAF) characterized by long-term aseismic creep and the Yingxiu-Beichuan fault (YBF) slipping by large earthquakes in the Longmen Shan fault zone (LSFZ) are ideal examples for exploring the above issues. 5Synchronous multiple primary gastrointestinal cancers with CDH1 mutations:A case report显示文摘BACKGROUND Synchronous multiple primary cancers (SMPC) mean two or more malignant tumors occurring simultaneously and with different origins no matter what types they are or where they are located. The carcinogenesis of SMPC often involves variations of some specific genes. However, the correlation between CDH1 mutations and synchronous multiple primary gastrointestinal cancers is largely unknown. CASE SUMMARY A 62-year-old woman had sustained abdominal pain for one week and visited our hospital. Gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed multiple small polypoid lesions in both the stomach and colorectum. Computed tomography and laboratory results were within normal limits. Pathological evaluation confirmed signet ring cell carcinoma without obvious metastatic evidence. Malignant cells showed negativity for E-cadherin and positivity for β-catenin in the cytoplasm and nucleus. DNA sequencing performed on paraffin-embedded tissue revealed two exactly coincident alterations in CDH1, C.57T>G and C.1418A>T. 12Transcriptome and metabolome analysis reveal that oral secretions from Helicoverpa armigera and Spodoptera litura influence wound-induced host response in cotton显示文摘Cotton(Gossypium hirsutum)is an important fiber crop worldwide.Insect attack causes cotton yield and quality losses.However,little is known about the mechanism of cotton response to insect attack.We simulated insect feeding by applying insect oral secretions(OS)to wounds,and combined transcriptome and metabolome analysis to investigate how OS from two major pest species(Helicoverpa armigera and Spodoptera litura)affect cotton defense responses.We found that respectively 12,668 and 13,379 genes were differentially expressed in comparison with wounding alone.On addition of OS,the jasmonic acid signaling pathway was rapidly and strongly induced,whereas genes involved in salicylic acid biosynthesis were downregulated.On constructing a coexpression gene network,we identified a hub gene encoding a leucine-rich repeat receptor kinase that may play an important role in early signal recognition and transduction.OS from the two insect species altered the abundance of flavonoid-related compounds in different patterns.Gossypol remained in lower concentration after OS application than after wounding alone,suggesting a suppressive effect of OS on cotton defense response.This study illustrated transcriptional and metabolic changes of cotton in responding to OS from two chewing insect species,identified potential key response genes,and revealed evidence for OS inhibition of wounding-induced cotton defense response.Huan Si Hongling Liu Yiwen Sun Zhongping Xu Sijia Liang Bo Li Xiao Ding Jianying Li Qiongqiong Wang Lin Sun Xianlong Zhang Shuangxia Jin 2020The Crop Journal2020,8,6:1

18Effect of flow field distribution on the synthesis of sub-micron ZSM-5 molecular sieve in a quasi-solid system显示文摘Scale-up synthesis of sub-micron ZSM-5 molecular sieve in a quasi-solid system was investigated. Compared with traditional hydrothermal synthesis, the synthesis in a quasi-solid system has the advantages of high yield, short crystallization time, low energy consumption as well as low emissions. However, the high solid content in the quasi-solid system can cause the mass and heat transfer problems and make scalable production difficult. In order to solve the problem, we have developed a method for the optimization of the mass and heat transfer. By this method one can vary the flow field in the reactor by changing the stirrer speed. Scale-up synthesis of the sub-micron ZSM-5 molecular sieve in a quasi-solid system was carried out in a 5 L reactor with double propeller-type agitators. The process was investigated with product characterization using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and the flow field information was collected using laser Doppler velocimetry (LDV).
