The five major autoimmune diseases increase the risk of cancer:epidemiological data froma large-scale cohort study in China显示文摘Background:Cancer incidence and mortality have received critical attention during the long-term management of morbidities in patients with autoimmune diseases(AIDs).This study aimed to investigate and compare the risk of cancer associated with five major AIDs in a large-scale Chinese cohort. Methods:A total of 8,120 AID patients consecutively admitted to a national tertiary referral center in China were included and followed-up for 38,726.55 patient-years,including those with systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE),rheumatoid arthritis(RA),Sjoren’s syndrome(SS),systemic scleroderma(SSc),and idiopathic inflammatory myositis(IIM).Demographic data, cancer incidence, predilecting sites and cancer onset time were recorded and compared among the five AIDs.Results:Four hundred and thirty(5.3%)patients developed cancer.Their median agewas 57.5 years and AID durationwas 79.8 months. The estimated total standardized incidence ratio(SIR)of cancer in AIDs patients was 3.37,with the highest SIR observed in IIM(4.31),followed by RA(3.99),SSc(3.77),SS(2.88)and SLE(2.58).The increased SIR of cancers in AID patients showed a female predominance(female vs.male:3.59 vs.2.77)and younger patient involvement(age<50 vs.≥50 years:4.88 vs.3.04).Patientswith SLE had increased SIRs for developing hematologic malignancies and solid tumors located in the urinary bladder, corpus uteri and cervix uteri.Patients with SS had a significantly high SIR for developing non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.Within 3 years of IIM diagnosis,74.6%of the patients developed cancer and they had a high risk of ovarian cancer.RA was associated with a wide distribution of scancers, including non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, gynecologic, urinary tract, thyroid gland and lung cancers.SSc patients had increased SIRs for developing cervical uterine, lung, and breast cancers. Conclusion:Patients with five major AIDs in China had an increased risk of developing cancer, with a predominance in women and younger patients, although cancer incidence, predilection sites and cancer onset time may vary greatly in each AID entity. | Ziyue Zhou Huazhen Liu Yiying Yang Jingya Zhou Lidan Zhao Hua Chen Yunyun Fei Wen Zhang Mengtao Li Yan Zhao Xiaofeng Zeng Fengchun Zhang Huaxia Yang Xuan Zhang | 2022 | Cancer Communications2022,42,5: | 4
Sex-specific association between coffee consumption and incident chronic kidney disease: a population-based analysis of 359,906 participants from the UK Biobank显示文摘Background:The risk for chronic kidney disease(CKD)is influenced by genetic predisposition, sex, and lifestyle.Previous research indicates that coffee is a potentially protective factor in CKD.The current study aims to investigate whether sex disparity exists in the coffee–CKD association, and whether genetic risk of CKD or genetic polymorphisms of caffeine metabolism affect this association. Methods:A total of 359,906 participants from the UK Biobank who were enrolled between 2006 and 2010 were included in this prospective cohort study, which aimed to estimate the hazard ratios for coffee intake and incident CKD using a Cox proportional hazard model.Allele scores of CKD and caffeine metabolism were additionally adjusted for in a subsample with qualified genetic data(n=255,343).Analyses stratified by genetic predisposition, comorbidities, and sex hormones were performed.Tests based on Bayesian model averaging were conducted to ascertain the robustness of the results. Results:Coffee was inversely associated with CKD in a dose-dependent manner. The effects of coffee did not differ across different strata of genetic risk for CKD,but were more evident among slower genetically predicted caffeine metabolizers.Significant sex disparity was observed(P value for interaction=0.013),in that coffee drinking was only associated with the risk reduction of CKD in females.Subgroup analysis revealed that testosterone and sex hormone-binding globulin(SHBG),but not estradiol, modified the coffee–CKD association. Conclusions:In addition to the overall inverse coffee–CKD association that was observed in the general population,we could also establish that a sex disparity existed,in that females were more likely to experience the benefit of the association.Testosterone and SHBG may partly account for the sex disparity. | Lei Tang Lina Yang Wenwen Chen Chunyang Li Yu Zeng Huazhen Yang Yao Hu Yuanyuan Qu Huan Song Xiaoxi Zeng Ping Fu | 2022 | Chinese Medical Journal2022,,12: | 2

Health consequences of early-onset compared with late-onset type 2 diabetes mellitus显示文摘Background:Although cumulating evidence has suggested that early-onset type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)conferred on patients a broader tendency for complications beyond vascular ones,a comprehensive analysis of patterns of complications across all relevant systems is currently lacking.Method:We prospectively studied 1777 early-onset(age at diagnosis≤45 years)and 35889 late-onset(>45 years)T2DM patients with matched unexposed individuals from the UK Biobank.Diabetes-specific and-related complications were examined using phenomewide association analysis, with patterns identified by comorbidity network analysis. We also evaluated the effect of lifestyle modifications and glycemic control on complication development. Results:The median follow-up times for early-onset and late-onset T2DM patients were 17.83 and 9.39 years, respectively.Compared to late-onset T2DM patients, patients with early-onset T2DM faced a significantly higher relative risk of developing subsequent complications that primarily affected sense organs[hazard ratio(HR)3.46 vs.1.72],the endocrine/metabolic system(HR 3.08 vs.2.01),and the neurological system(HR 2.70 vs.1.81).Despite large similarities in comorbidity patterns,a more complex and well-connected network was observed for early-onset T2DM.Furthermore,while patients with early-onset T2DM got fewer benefits(12.67%reduction in pooled HR for all studied complications)through fair glycemic control(median HbA1c≤53 mmol/mol)compared to late-onset T2DM patients(18.01%reduction),they seemed to benefit more from favorable lifestyles, including weight control, healthy diet, and adequate physical activity. Conclusions:Our analyses reveal that early-onset T2DM is an aggressive disease resulting in more complex complication networks than late-onset T2DM.Aggressive glucose-lowering intervention, complemented by lifestyle modifications, are feasible strategies for controlling early-onset T2DM-related complications. | Can Hou Huazhen Yang Yuanyuan Qu Wenwen Chen Yu Zeng Yao Hu K.M.Venkat Narayan Huan Song Dong Li | 2022 | Precision Clinical Medicine2022,5,2: | 1

Synthesis Optimization of SSZ-13 Zeolite Membranes by Dual Templates for N_(2)/NO_(2) Separation显示文摘High-silica SSZ-13 zeolite membranes are promising in industrial separations of light gases and continuous membranes are highly demanded for better separation performances. Herein, pure-phase, continuous and thin SSZ-13 zeolite membranes were synthesized using dual templates of N,N,N-trimethtyl-1-adamantammonium hydroxide(TMAdaOH) and tetraethylammonium hydroxide(TEAOH). Systematical investigations of TMAdaOH/TEAOH ratios and their concentrations show that TMAdaOH acts as the main structure-directing agent in the formation of the SSZ-13 zeolite. TMAdaOH cooperatively plays with TEAOH in promoting the SSZ-13 crystal intergrowth to form a continuous polycrystalline membrane. Additionally, appropriate introduction of TEAOH is able to adjust the membrane thickness to the crystal-comparable size of ca. 2.0 μm. The SSZ-13 membranes are further applied for N2/NO2separation, which is firstly reported on zeolite membranes. The gas permeation results show that the SSZ-13 membrane synthesized by the dual-template approach exhibits selective separation of N2 over NO2 with N2/NO2 separation factor of 7.6 and N2 permeance of 1.66×10-8 mol·m-2·s-1·Pa-1. | LI Jun RONG Huazhen CHEN Cong LI Ziyi ZUO Jiayu WANG Wenjian LIU Xinjian GUAN Yixing YANG Xiong LIU Yingshu ZOU Xiaoqin ZHU Guangshan | 2022 | Chemical Research in Chinese Universities2022,38,1: | 0
Catalytic oxidation of CO over Pt/Fe3O4 catalysts:Tuning O2 activation and CO adsorption显示文摘The self-inhibition behavior due to CO poisoning on Pt metal particles strongly impairs the performance of CO oxidation. It is an effective method to use reducible metal oxides for supporting Pt metal particles to avoid self-inhibition and to improve catalytic performance. In this work,we used in situ reductions of chloroplatinic acid on commercial Fe3O4 powder to prepare heterogeneousstructured Pt/Fe3O4 catalysts in the solution of ethylene glycol. The heterogeneous Pt/Fe3O4 catalysts achieved a better catalytic performance of CO oxidation compared with the Fe3O4 powder. The temperatures of 50%and 90%CO conversion were achieved above 260℃and 290℃at Pt/Fe3O4,respectively.However,they are accomplished on Fe3O4 at temperatures higher than 310℃.XRD,XPS,and H2-TPR results confirmed that the metallic Pt atoms have a strong synergistic interaction with the Fe3O4 supports.TGA results and transient DRIFTS results proved that the Pt metal particles facilitate the release of lattice oxygen and the formation of oxygen vacancies on Fe3O4.The combined results of O2-TPD and DRIFTS indicated that the activation step of oxygen molecules at surface oxygen vacancies could potentially be the rate-determining step of the catalytic CO oxidation at Pt/Fe3O4 catalysts. The reaction pathway involves a Pt-assisted Mars-van Krevelen(MvK)mechanism. | Zihao Li Yang Geng Lei Ma Xiaoyin Chen Junhua Li Huazhen Chang Johannes W.Schwank | 2020 | Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2020,14,4: | 0
