| 1 | Development of a New Index for Integrating Landscape Patterns with Ecological Processes at Watershed Scale显示文摘Understanding the relationship between landscape patterns and ecological processes has been a central yet challenging research theme in landscape ecology. Over the past decades,many landscape metrics have been proposed but few directly incorporated ecological processes. In this paper,we developed a landscape index,namely,location-weighted landscape index(LWLI) to highlight the role of landscape type in ecological processes,such as nutrient losses and soil erosion. Within the framework of the Lorenz curve theory,we develop this index by integrating landscape pattern and point-based measurements at a watershed scale. The index can be used to characterize the contribution of landscape pattern to ecological processes(e.g. nutrient losses) with respect to a specific monitoring point in a watershed. Through a case study on nutrient losses in an agricultural area in northeastern China,we found that nutrient losses tended to be higher for a watershed with a higher LWLI value,and vice versa. It implied that LWLI can be used to evaluate the potential risk of nutrient losses or soil erosion by comparing their values across watersheds. In addition,this index can be extended to characterize ecological processes,such as the effect of landscape pattern on wildlife inhabitation and urban heat island effect. | 2 | OsCYCP4s coordinate phosphate starvation signaling with cell cycle progression in rice显示文摘Phosphate starvation leads to a strong reduction in shoot growth and yield in crops.The reduced shoot growth is caused by extensive gene expression reprogram-ming triggered by phosphate deficiency,which is not itself a direct consequence of low levels of shoot phosphorus.However,how phosphate starvation inhibits shoot growth in rice is still unclear.In this study,we determined the role of OsCYCP4s in the regulation of shoot growth in response to phosphate starvation in rice.We demonstrate that the ex-pression levels of OsCYCP4s,except OsCYCP4;3,were induced by phosphate starvation.Overexpression of the phosphate starvation induced OsCYCP4s could compete with the other cyclins for the binding with cyclin-dependent kinases,therefore suppressing growth by reducing cell proliferation.The phosphate starvation induced growth inhibition in the loss-of-function mutants cycp4;1,cycp4;2,and cycp4;4 is par-tially compromised.Furthermore,the expression of some phosphate starvation inducible genes is negatively modu-lated by these cyclins,which indicates that these OsCYCP4s may also be involved in phosphate starvation signaling.We conclude that phosphate starvation induced OsCYCP4s might coordinate phosphate starvation signaling and cell cycle progression under phosphate starvation stress. | Lei Xu Fang Wang Ruili Li Minjuan Deng Meilan Fu Huiying Teng Keke Yi | 2020 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2020,62,7: | 2 |

| 4 | Visible Raman and Brillouin lasers from a microresonator/ZBLAN-fiber hybrid system显示文摘Raman and Brillouin lasers based on a high-quality(high-Q) whispering gallery mode microresonator(WGMR)are usually achieved by employing a tunable single-frequency laser as a pump source. Here, we experimentally demonstrate visible Raman and Brillouin lasers using a compact microresonator/ZrF4-BaF2-LaF3-AlF3-NaF(ZBLAN)-fiber hybrid system by incorporating a WGMR with a fiber-compatible distributed Bragg reflector/fiber Bragg grating to form a Fabry–Perot(F-P) fiber cavity and using a piece of Pr:ZBLAN fiber as gain medium.The high-Q silica-microsphere not only offers a Rayleigh-scattering-induced backreflection to form the ~635 nm red laser oscillation in the F-P fiber cavity, but also provides a nonlinear gain in the WGMR itself to generate either stimulated Raman scattering or stimulated Brillouin scattering. Up to six-order cascaded Raman lasers at0.65 μm, 0.67 μm, 0.69 μm, 0.71 μm, 0.73 μm, and 0.76 μm are achieved, respectively. Moreover, a Brillouin laser at 635.54 nm is clearly observed. This is, to the best of our knowledge, the first demonstration of visible microresonator-based lasers created by combining a Pr:ZBLAN fiber.
