| 1 | The Human Microbiota in Health and Disease显示文摘Trillions of microbes have evolved with and continue to live on and within human beings. A variety of environmental factors can affect intestinal microbial imbalance, which has a close relationship with human health and disease. Here, we focus on the interactions between the human microbiota and the host in order to provide an overview of the microbial role in basic biological processes and in the development and progression of major human diseases such as infectious diseases, liver diseases, gastrointestinal cancers, metabolic diseases, respiratory diseases, mental or psychological diseases, and autoimmune diseases. We also review important advances in techniques associated with microbial research, such as DNA sequencing, metabonomics, and proteomics combined with computation-based bioinformatics.Current research on the human microbiota has become much more sophisticated and more comprehensive.Therefore, we propose that research should focus on the host-microbe interaction and on causeeffect mechanisms, which could pave the way to an understanding of the role of gut microbiota in health and disease, and provide new therapeutic targets and treatment approaches in clinical practice. | Baohong Wang Mingfei Yao Longxian Lv Zongxin Ling Lanjuan Li | 2017 | Engineering2017,3,1: | 24 |

| 12 | Supplementation with alpha-glycerol monolaurate during late gestation and lactation enhances sow performance,ameliorates milk composition,and improves growth of suckling piglets显示文摘Background Physiological changes during lactation cause oxidative stress in sows,reduce immunity,and hamper the growth capacity of piglets.Alpha-glycerol monolaurate(α-GML)has potential for enhancing the antimicrobial activity of sows and the growth of suckling piglets.Methods Eighty sows were allocated randomly to four groups:basal diet and basal diets supplemented with 500,1000,or 2000 mg/kgα-GML.The experiment started on d 85 of gestation and lasted until piglets were weaned on d 21 of lactation.The number of live-born piglets was standardized to 12 tion,body weight of piglets was measured and milk samples±1 per sow on day of parturition.On d 0 and21 of lactawere obtained from sows,and serum samples and feces from piglets were obtained on d 21.Results Feed intake,backfat loss,and weaning estrus interval did not differ among the four groups of sows.Maternalα-GML supplementation increased(P<0.05)the body weight of piglets at weaning and the apparent total tract digestibility of crude fat of sows.The immunoglobulin A and immunoglobulin G levels were greater(P<0.05)in a quadratic manner in the milk of sows as dietaryα-GML increased.Concerning fatty acid profile,C12:0,C15:0,C17:0,C18:2n6c,C18:3n3,C24:0,and C22:6n3 were higher(P<0.05)in linear and quadratic manners in colostrum of sowsfedα-GML diets compared with the control sows.There was lower(P<0.05)n-6:n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid ratio in milk than in the control sows.Maternalα-GML increased the abundance of Firmicutes(P<0.05)and decreased the abundance of Proteobacteria(P<0.05)of piglet fecal microbiota.Conclusions Dietary supplementation withα-GML improved milk immunoglobulins and altered fatty acids of sows,thereby improving the health of piglets. | Longxian Li Huakai Wang Shuang Dong Yongxi Ma | 2023 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2023,14,4: | 1 |

| 15 | Endogenous chitinase might lead to differences in growth performance and intestinal health of piglets fed different levels of black soldier fly larva meal显示文摘This study aimed to investigate the effects of different levels of black soldier fly(BSF)replacing soybean meal(SBM)in diets on the performance and health condition of piglets.A total of 180 weaned piglets were allocated into 5 treatments:BSF0(corn-soybean meal basal diet),BSF25(BSF replacing 25%SBM),BSF50(BSF replacing 50%SBM),BSF75(BSF replacing 75%SBM)and BSF100(BSF replacing 100%SBM).During the whole period,in comparison with BSF0,average daily gain(ADG)and average daily feed intake increased in the BSF25 and BSF50 groups,whereas ADG decreased in the BSF75 and BSF100groups(P<0.05).The result of quadratic fitting curve showed that piglets exhibited the highest ADG when BSF replaced around 20%SBM.Compared with BSF0,organic matter and dry matter digestibility improved in the BSF25 group,whereas ether extract digestibility decreased in the BSF100 group(P<0.05).In comparison with BSF0,piglets from the BSF25 group showed a higher duodenal ratio of villus height to crypt depth,increased jejunal sucrase activity,serum neuropeptide Y and ghrelin levels,elevated ileal immunoglobulin(Ig)A,Ig G and Ig M contents and a lower leptin level,and piglets from the BSF100 group exhibited an increased relative weight of kidney(P<0.05).However,no significant differences were observed in the expression level of tight junction proteins and chitin-degrading enzyme.Additionally,compared with BSF0,the abundance of short chain fatty acid producing bacteria such as Ruminococcaceae,Faecalibacterium and Butyricicoccus increased,and potential pathogenic bacteria decreased in piglets from the BSF25 group,whereas piglets from the BSF100 group had a greater abundance of harmful bacteria.In conclusion,BSF replacing 25%SBM in diets could improve digestive parameters,immune function and intestinal microbiota,and thus improved growth performance of piglets.However,BSF replacing 100%SBM showed an adverse effect on piglet performance,and the reason might be related to the limited amount of chitin-degrading enzyme. | Sujie Liu Jian Wang Longxian Li Yonggai Duan Xiaolin Zhang Tenghao Wang Jianjun Zang Xiangshu Piao Yongxi Ma Defa Li | 2023 | Animal Nutrition2023,,3: | 0 |

| 18 | The role of natriuretic peptide precursor A gene polymorphism in the development of coronary heart disease in Chinese Han population显示文摘Natriuretic peptide precursor A(NPPA)is synthesized,stored,and released by atrial myocytes.Previous studies have shown that NPPA plays a significant role in the regulation of coronary circulation and in atherosclerosis.Rs5065 NPPA gene polymorphism leads to the translation of NPPA with two additional arginines and has been suggested to be associated with salt-sensitive hypertension.The purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationship between the rs5065 NPPA gene polymorphism and the risk of coronary heart disease(CHD)in Chinese Han population.We genotyped the single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)rs5065 NPPA in the human NPPA gene in 1861 sex-and age-matched subjects,comprising of 904 CHD cases and 957 controls of Chinese Han population.Genotyping of SNP was performed with Taqman SNP allelic discrimination assays by means of an ABI 7900HT.Our study showed that the frequencies of rs5065 NPPA C allele in the case and the control groups were 0.012 and 0.005,respectively.There was significant difference in C allele frequency distribution between the two groups(OR=2.607,95%CI:1.197–5.678,P=0.012).In the case group,there was significant difference between smokers and nonsmokers with subjects carrying C allele(P=0.037),and no significant difference in gender,age,fasting total cholesterol(TC),triglycerides(TG),fasting plasma glucose(FPG),body mass index(BMI),and blood pressure(BP)between the cases and the controls(P>0.05).Our results suggest that the C allele of rs5065 NPPA gene polymorphism may be associated with the risk of CHD. | Ripen NSENGA Longxian CHENG Mei’an HE Tangchun WU | 2009 | Frontiers of Medicine2009,3,4: | 0 |
| 19 | Influence of calcium preconditioning and streptomycin on ventricular dilation-induced arrhythmias in isolated rat hearts显示文摘Objective To investigate the mechanism of ventricular dilation-induced arrhythmias by dilating isolated rat hearts. Methods Isolated rat hearts were perfused by Langerdorff method. After equilibration,80 hearts were randomly divided into four groups as follows:(1) control group(n=20) ,(2) Ca2+ preconditioning(CPC) group(n=20) ,(3) streptomycin group(n=20) ,and(4) CPC + streptomycin group(n=20) . A latex balloon which can be filled with fluid was anchored in the left ventricle through the left atrium and mitral valve. Epicardial ECG of the left ventricle,left ventricular pressure,coronary flow and heart rate were recorded before and during ventricular dilation by injecting fluid into the latex balloon. The rate and duration of ventricular dilation-induced arrhythmias were recorded. Results Under the same increase in ventricular end-diastolic pressure made by inflation of the balloon,the rate of arrhythmias was 100% and duration of arrhythmias was 2. 56±0.46s in the control group. Both the rates of premature ventricular beat(90%) and ventricular tachycardia 70%) were high. Compared with the control group,the total rate(60%) of arrhythmias was lower,and duration(1.67±0.61s) of arrhythmias was shorter in the CPC group. Both the rates of premature ventricular beat(60%) and ventricular tachycardia(40%) were low comparatively. The rate of arrhythmias(45%) was lower and duration(1.64±0.42s) of arrhythmias was shorter,and the rates of premature ventricular beat(30%) or ventricular tachycardia(35%) were lower in the streptomycin group than in the control one. The least ventricular dilation-induced arrhythmias occurred in the CPC + streptomycin group. The rate of arrhythmias(10%) was the lowest and duration(1.01±0.37s) of arrhythmias was the shortest;both the rates of premature ventricular beat(5%) and ventricular tachycardia(10%) were the lowest. Conclusions Ventricular dilation may induce arrhythmias in isolated rat hearts.
