1Cloning and functional analysis of chloroplast division gene NtFtsZ2-l in Nicotiana tabacum显示文摘FtsZ protein plays an important role in the division of chloroplasts. With the finding and functional analysis of higher plant FtsZ proteins, people have deepened the understanding in the molecular mechanism of chloroplast division. Multiple ftsZ genes are diversified into two families in higher plants, ftsZ1 and ftsZ2. On the basis of the research on ftsZ1 family, we analyzed the function of NtFtsZ2-1 gene in Nicotiana tabacum. Microscopic analysis of the sense and antisense NtFtsZ2-1 transgenic tobacco plants revealed that the chloroplasts were abnormal in size and also in number when compared with wild-type tobacco chloroplasts. 5Landsat time-series land cover mapping with spectral signature extension method显示文摘Time-series remote sensing images were previously employed to detect land use and land-cover changes and to analyze related trends. However,land-cover change mapping using time-series remote sensing data,especially medium-resolution imagery,was often constrained by a lack of high-quality training and validation data,especially for historical satellite images. In this study,we tested and evaluated a generalized classifier for time series Landsat Thematic Mapper( TM) imagery based on spectral signature extension. First,a new atmospheric correction procedure and a robust relative normalization method were performed on time-series images to eliminate the radiometric differences between them and to retrieve the surface reflectance. Second,we selected one surface reflectance image from the time series as a source image based on the availability of reliable ground truth data. The spectral signature was then extracted from the training data and the source image. Third,the spectral signature was extended to all the corrected time-series images to build a generalized classifier. This method was tested on a time series consisting of five Landsat TM images of the Tibetan Plateau,and the results showed that the corrected time-series images could be classified effectively from the reference image using the generalized classifier. The overall accuracy achieved was between 88. 35% and 94. 25%,which is comparable with the results obtained using traditional scene-by-scene supervised classification. 6Treatment of childhood cancer in China:Current status and future direction显示文摘Introduction China has a population of 1.3 billion and 16.6%of the population(212 million)is below age of 15 years according to the sixth national census in 2010.1 Chinese National Central Cancer Registry(NCCR)collected data from 219 cancer registries distributed in different parts of China.In 2010 data from NCCR reported that childhood cancer comprised approximately 0.6%of all cancers.In a recent study analyzed data from 145 cancer registries in China,the age-standardized incidence rate of childhood cancer was 87.1 per million.The top five commonest childhood cancers were leukemia(35.6 per million),central nervous system(CNS)tumor(15.0 per million),lymphoma(6.4 per million),bone cancer(4.4 per million)and kidney cancer(3.7 per million).2 The incidence is lower than western countries but similar to those reported by other low-middle income countries.The reasons for lower incidence of childhood cancer may be related to incomplete data collection.In China,there is a large floating population,221 million,who were not permanent residents in locations they worked and might not be included in the city registration.The projected number of new cases of childhood cancer in 0-14 years is 22875,and new cases of leukemia projected to be 8943 in 2015.It is important to have accurate data on incidence and survival that will help the government in policy making on health care delivery.Chi-kong Li Jingyan Tang Huyong Zheng Jianpei Fang XiaofeiSun 2020Pediatric Investigation2020,4,3:1

8Acute myeloid leukemia following a primary mediastinal germ cell tumor显示文摘Introduction:There is a known association between primary mediastinal germ cell tumor(PMGCT)and hematologic malignancy that is not linked to treatment.They are exceptionally rare entities with a low morbidity and a poor prognosis.Case presentation:An 11-year-old boy presented with an anterior mediastinal mass diagnosed as a malignant germ cell tumor on the basis of an excisional biopsy.He was found to have acute myeloid leukemia(AML)two years after the chemotherapy for his germ cell tumor.The clinical course was very aggressive with a survival time of only 1 week after diagnosis of AML associated with PMGCT.Conclusion:AML associated with PMGCT needs to be diagnosed correctly.Relevant examinations should be carried out in patients with PMGCTs during and after chemotherapy,and long-term follow-up is still necessary to reduce the risk of morbidity and mortality.Huimin Hong Yan Su Chenghao Chen Lejian He Shuai Zhu Wei Lin Mei Jin Xisi Wang Ruidong Zhang Huyong Zheng Qi Zeng Xiaoli Ma 2020Pediatric Investigation2020,4,3:1

11Investigation on the Synthesis Mechanism of β-FeSi_2 Prepared by Pulsed Laser Deposition显示文摘The FeSi2 target alloy was fabricated by conventional powder metallurgy technology, and then, β-FeSi2 thin films was successfully prepared by pulsed laser deposition (PLD). X-ray diffraction (XRD) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) were used to characterize the structure, composition, and their changes in the process of β-FeSi2 preparation. In addition, a laser sintering process was also employed to prepare FeSi2 alloy. The analysis of radiation heat transfers in different-sized FeSi2 melt indicates that the cooling rate of the melt depends on the size, i.e., the cooling rate of the micron sized melt is 103 times greater than that of the millimeter-sized melt. The product α-FeSi2 by laser sintering and β-FeSi2 by PLD reveals the different phase transition process in crystallization of milli-meter-sized and micron-sized (or submicron-sized) FeSi2 melt. 12Bacteremia tuberculosis among HIV-negative children in China显示文摘Importance:Bacteremia tuberculosis(TB)is a severe form of extrapulmonary TB.Studies assessing bacteremia TB in children are limited,especially for HIV-negative children.Objective:To explore the detailed clinical features of the bacteremia TB in children under 18 years of age.Methods:We reviewed the clinical records of the patients retrospectively and collected the strains isolated from their blood cultures.We used mycobacterial interspersed repetitive-unit-variable-number tandem-repeat(MIRU-VNTR)to characterize the bacterial genotypes and alamarBlue to determine their drug susceptibility profiles.Polymerase chain reactions and DNA sequencing were used to identify drug-resistant mutations.Results:There were 13 pediatric bacteremia TB patients,10 of whom were diagnosed with Bacillus Calmette–Guérin(BCG)bacteremia TB.Thirteen patients aged from 0.30 to 11.58 years were enrolled,of whom 76.92%were boys.All had fevers before hospitalization,and 76.92%had respiratory symptoms.All had received BCG vaccinations,and 46.15%had adverse post-vaccination reactions.Compared withMycobacterium tuberculosis,BCG bacteremia was more likely to appear in younger children.Patients with BCG bacteremia had primary immunodeficiency diseases,and lower CD4,IgA,and IgE levels.Interpretation:Bacteremia TB was rapidly fatal in a large proportion of the immunodeficient children.Because classic findings may not be diagnostically specific,a high level of clinical suspicion is required,especially for patients with certain types of immunosuppression.Studies are needed to develop rapid diagnostic tests and to determine the value of empirical therapy in childhood bacteremia TB.Ping Chu Jin Shi Fang Dong Hui Yang Shunying Zhao Gang Liu Huyong Zheng Jinrong Liu Huimin Li Jie Lu 2022Pediatric Investigation2022,6,3:0
13Characteristics of pediatric inpatients with primary and secondary hypertension显示文摘Importance:Extensive population-based studies have explored the prevalence of primary hypertension(HTN)in children and adolescents.However,there is little published data on the characteristics of different types of pediatric HTN and the causes of secondary HTN.Objective:To investigate the characteristics of different types of pediatric HTN and the causes of secondary HTN in a hospital setting.Methods:The study cohort comprised pediatric inpatients(<18 years of age)discharged with a diagnosis of HTN from Beijing Children's Hospital during 2015-2020.Pediatric patients with HTN were allocated to secondary and primary HTN groups on the basis of comprehensive analyses of their diagnoses,family history of HTN,and findings on physical examination,as documented in their medical records.The Mann-Whitney U test,χ^(2) and Fisher's exact test were used to assess differences in characteristics of patients with different HTN types and causes of secondary HTN.Results:Data of 1470 inpatients with HTN from 18 clinical departments were included in the analysis.Among them,458(31.2%)had primary HTN,and 1012(68.8%)had secondary HTN.Compared with patients had primary HTN,children with secondary HTN were younger and had lower body mass indexes and longer lengths of stay.Moreover,children with primary HTN had mostly been managed by the Endocrinology and Cardiology Departments,75.8%of them having obesity-related comorbidities.In contrast,most patients with secondary HTN had been managed by the Nephrology Department,renal diseases being the leading cause of their HTN(46.3%).Interpretation:Secondary HTN is more common than primary HTN in pediatric clinical settings,renal diseases being the leading cause of secondary HTN.Yijun Chen Peiyu Ye Xiaorong Liu Chunxiu Gong Caifeng Li Yue Yuan Huyong Zheng Xin Xu Hongbo Dong Qin Kong Yinkun Yan Jie Mi 2021Pediatric Investigation2021,5,1:0

20ftsZ gene and plastid division显示文摘Plastid is one of the most important cellular organelles, the normal division process of plastid is essential for the differentiation and development of plant cells. For a long time, morphological observations and genetic analyses to special mutants are the major research fields of plastid division, but the molecular mechanisms underlying plastid division are largely unknown. Because of the endosymbiotic origin, plastid division might have mechanisms in common with those involved in bacterial cell division. It has been proved that several prokaryotic cell division genes also participate in the plastid division. Recently, the mechanisms of prokaryotic cell division have been well documented, which provides a valuable paradigm for understanding the plastid division mechanisms. In plants, the functional analyses of ftsZ, a key gene involved both in bacteria and plastid division, have established the solid foundation for people to understand the plastid division in molecular level.
