| 1 | PCSK9 inhibitors: A new era of lipid lowering therapy显示文摘Hyperlipidemia is a well-established risk factor for developing cardiovascular disease(CVD). The recent American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association guidelines on lipid management emphasize treatment of individuals at increased risk for developing CVD events with 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase inhibitors(statins) at doses proven to reduce CVD events. However, there are limited options for patients who are either intolerant to statin therapy, develop CVD despite being on maximally tolerated statin therapy, or have severe hypercholesterolemia. Recently the Food and Drug Administration approved two novel medications for low-density lipoprotein(LDL)-cholesterol reduction: Evolocumab and Alirocumab. These agents target and inactivate proprotein convertase subtilsinkexin type 9(PCSK9), a hepatic protease that attaches and internalizes LDL receptors into lysosomes hence promoting their destruction. By preventing LDL receptor destruction, LDL-C levels can be lowered 50%-60% above that achieved by statin therapy alone. | 2 | Erythropoietin therapy after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest:A systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘AIM To assess safety and efficacy of early erythropoietin(Epo) administration in patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest(OHCA).METHODS A systematic literature search was performed using PubM ed,MEDLINE,EMBASE,EBSCO,CINAHL,Web of Science and Cochrane databases,of all studies published from the inception through October 10,2016.Inclusion criteria included:(1) Adult humans with OHCA and successful sustained return of spontaneous circulation;and(2) studies including mortality/brain death,acute thrombotic events as their end points.Primary efficacyoutcome was 'brain death or Cerebral Performance Category(CPC) score of 5'.Secondary outcomes were 'CPC score 1,and 2-4','overall thrombotic events' and 'acute coronary stent thrombosis'.RESULTS We analyzed a total of 606 participants(n = 276 received Epo and n = 330 with standard of care alone) who experienced OHCA enrolled in 3 clinical trials.No significant difference was observed between the Epo and no Epo group in brain death or CPC score 5(OR = 0.77;95%CI:0.42-1.39),CPC score 1(OR = 1.16,95%CI:0.82-1.64),and CPC score 2-4(OR = 0.77,95%CI:0.44-1.36).Epo group was associated with increased thrombotic complications(OR = 2.41,95%CI:1.26-4.62) and acute coronary stent thrombosis(OR = 8.16,95%CI:1.39-47.99).No publication bias was observed.CONCLUSION Our study demonstrates no improvement in neurological outcomes and increased incidence of thrombotic events and acute coronary stent thrombosis in OHCA patients who were treated with Epo in addition to standard therapy. | Rahul Chaudhary Jalaj Garg Parasuram Krishnamoorthy Kevin Bliden Neeraj Shah Nayan Agarwal Rahul Gupta Abhishek Sharma Karl B Kern Nainesh C Patel Paul Gurbel | 2017 | World Journal of Cardiology2017,9,12: | 2 |

| 13 | Cyanobacteria,Lyngbya aestuarii and Aphanothece bullosa as antifungal and antileishmanial drug resources显示文摘Objective:To investigate two cyanobacteria isolated from different origins i.e.Lyngbya aestuarii(L.aestuarii)from brackish water and Aphanothece bullosa(4.bullosa)from fresh water paddy fields for antifungal and antileishmanila activity taking Candida albicans and Leishmania donovain as targets.Methods:Biomass of L.aestuarii and A.bullosa were harvested after 40 and60 d respectively and lyophilized twice in methanol(100%)and redissolved in methanol(5%)for bioassay.Antifungal bioassay was done by agar well diffusion method while antileishmanial,by counting cell numbers and flageller motility observation of promastigotes and amastigotes from L.donovani.fluconazole and 5%methanol were used as control.Results:Both the cyanobacteria were found to be potent source of antifungal activity keeping fluconazole as positive control,however,methanolic crude extract(15 mg/mL)of A.bullosa was found more potent(larger inhibition zone)over that of methanolic crude extract of L.aestuarii,Similarly antileishmanial activity of crude extract(24.0 mg/mL)of A.bullosa was superior over that of methanolic crude extract of L.aestuarii(25.6 mg/mL).Conclusions:Antifungal and antileishmanial drugs are still limited in the market.Screening of microbes possessing antifungal and antileishmanial activity drug is of prime importance.Cyanobacteria are little explored in this context because most of the drugs in human therapy are derived from microorganisms,mainly bacterial,fungal and actinomycetes.Thus in the present study two cyanobacterial strains from different origins showed potent source of antifungal and antileishmanial biomolecules. | Maheep Kumar Manoj Kumar Tripathi Akanksha Srivastava Jalaj Kumar Gour Rakesh Kumar Singh Ragini Tilak Ravi Kumar Asthana | 2013 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2013,3,6: | 0 |

| 15 | Detection of urinary antigens and their seroreactivity with serum of patients in Leishmania donovani infection显示文摘Objective:To detect leishmanial antigens in pre and post treated urine of visceral leishmaniasis (VL) patients.Methods:Urine and serum sample from three VL patients were collected. Ammonium sulphate precipitation and purification of urine sample was done for proteins isolation.SDS PAGE of proteins was done followed by western blotting,with the patient’s pre and post treatment serum.Results:Eight proteins of molecular weights 17 kDa,25 kDa,28 kDa,42 kDa, 47 kDa,54 kDa,60 kDa and 85 kDa were detected in the urine of VL patients before treatment. After treatment with miltefosine,none of the above proteins was detected in urine samples.The western blot analysis with pre treatment serum confirmed the antigenicity of four urinary proteins of molecular weights 25 kDa,28 kDa,54 kDa and 60 kDa.The seropositivity with 25 kDa and 28 kDa antigens was negative with serum obtained after the completion of treatment.Conclusions:In the context to unavailability of a prognostic tool,urinary leishmanial antigens may offer a better choice and may also be useful as immunoprophylactic candidates. | Vinod Kumar Jalaj Kumar Gour Surabhi Bajpai Manish Mishra Rakesh Kumar Singh | 2011 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2011,4,5: | 0 |
