1High expression of ACE2 receptor of 2019-nCoV on the epithelial cells of oral mucosa显示文摘It has been reported that ACE2 is the main host cell receptor of 2019-nCoV and plays a crucial role in the entry of virus into the cell to cause the final infection. To investigate the potential route of 2019-n Cov infection on the mucosa of oral cavity, bulk RNA-seq profiles from two public databases including The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA) and Functional Annotation of The Mammalian Genome Cap Analysis of Gene Expression(FANTOM5 CAGE) dataset were collected. RNA-seq profiling data of 13 organ types with para-carcinoma normal tissues from TCGA and 14 organ types with normal tissues from FANTOM5 CAGE were analyzed in order to explore and validate the expression of ACE2 on the mucosa of oral cavity. Further, single-cell transcriptomes from an independent data generated in-house were used to identify and confirm the ACE2-expressing cell composition and proportion in oral cavity. The results demonstrated that the ACE2 expressed on the mucosa of oral cavity. Interestingly, this receptor was highly enriched in epithelial cells of tongue. 2Preparation of calcium sulfate whiskers from FGD gypsum via hydrothermal crystallization in the H_2SO_4-NaCl-H_2O system显示文摘Little attention has thus far been paid to the potential effect of solution composition on the hydrothermal crystallization of calcium sulfate whiskers prepared from flue-gas desulfurization(FGD) gypsum.When purified FGD gypsum was used as raw material,the morphology and phase structure of the hydrothermal products grown in pure water,H_2SO_4-H_2O,NaCl-H_2O,and H_2SO_4-NaCl-H_2O solutions as well as the solubility of purified FGD gypsum in these solutions were investigated.The results indicate that calcium sulfate whiskers grow favorably in the H_2SO_4-NaCl-H_2O system.When prepared using 10-70 g NaCl/kg gypsum-0.01 M H_2SO_4-H_2O at 130 ℃ for 60 min,the obtained calcium sulfate whiskers had diameters ranging from 3 to 5 |xm and lengths from 200 to 600 |xm,and their phase structure was calcium sulfate hemihydrate(HH).Opposing effects of sulfuric acid and sodium chloride on the solubility of the purified FGD gypsum were observed.With the co-presence of sulfuric acid and sodium chloride in the reaction solution,the concentrations of Ca^(2+) and SO_4^(2-) can be kept relatively stable,which implies that the crystallization of the hydrothermal products can be controlled by changing the concentrations of sulfuric acid and sodium chloride.Xiao Wang Liushuan Yang Xinfeng Zhu Jiakuan Yang 2014Particuology2014,12,6:34
3Can transgenic rice cause ecological risks through transgene escape?显示文摘Alien transgene escape from genetically engineered rice to non-transgenic varieties or close wild relatives (including weedy rice) may lead to unpredictable ecological risks. However, for transgene escape to occur three conditions need to be met: (i) spatially, transgenic rice and its non-transgenic counterparts or wild relatives should have sympatric distributions; (ii) temporally, the flowering time of transgenic rice and the non-transgenic varieties or wild relatives should overlap; and (iii) biologically, transgenic rice and its wild relative species should have such a sufficiently close relationship that their interspecific hybrids can have normal generative reproduction. This paper presents research data on the geographic distribution, flowering habits, interspecific hybridization, and gene flow of cultivated rice (Oryza sativa) and its closely related wild relatives containing the AA genome. 4Transition study of 3D aerodynamic configures using improved transport equations modeling显示文摘As boundary layer transition plays an important role in aerodynamic drag prediction,the proposal and study of transition prediction methods simulating the complex flow phenomena are prerequisite for aerodynamic design. In this paper, with the application of the linear stability theory based on amplification factor transport transition equations on the two-equation shear stress transport(SST) eddy-viscosity model, a new method, the SST-N TS-N CF model, is yielded. The new amplification factor transport equation for the crossflow instability induced transition is proposed to add to the N TS equation proposed by Coder, which simulates Tollmien–Schlichting wave transition. The turbulent kinetic energy equation is modified by introducing a new source term that simulates the transition process without the intermittency factor equation. Finally, coupled with these two amplification factor transport equations and SST turbulence model, a four-equation transition turbulence model is built. 5Improved local amplification factor transport equation for stationary crossflow instability in subsonic and transonic flows显示文摘Transition prediction is a hot research topic of fluid mechanics.For subsonic and transonic aerodynamic flows,e^(N) method based on Linear Stability Theory(LST)is usually adopted reliably to predict transition.In 2013,Coder and Maughmer established a transport equation for Tollmien-Schlichting(T-S)instability so that the e^(N) method can be applied to general Reynolds-Average-Navier-Stokes(RANS)solvers conveniently.However,this equation focuses on T-S instability,and is invalid for crossflow instability induced transition which plays a crucial role in flow instability of three-dimensional boundary layers.Subsequently,a transport equation for crossflow instability was developed in 2016,which is restricted to wing-like geometries.Then,in 2019,this model was extended to arbitrarily shaped geometries based on local variables.However,there are too many tedious functions and parameters in this version,and it can only be used for incompressible flows.Hence,in this paper,after a large amount of LST analyses and parameter optimization,an improved version for subsonic and transonic boundary layers is built.The present improved model is more robust and more concise,and it can be applied widely in aeronautical flows,which has great engineering application value and significance.An extensive validation study for this improved transition model will be performed.Jiakuan XU Lei QIAO Junqiang BAI 2020Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2020,33,12:7
6Changes in soil carbon sequestration and soil respiration following afforestation on paddy fields in north subtropical China显示文摘Aims Although many studies have reported net gains of soil organic carbon(SOC)after afforestation on croplands,this is uncertain for Chinese paddy rice croplands.Here,we aimed to evaluate the effects of affores-tation of paddy rice croplands on SOC sequestration and soil respiration(R).Such knowledge would improve our understanding of the efctive-ness of various land use options on greenhouse gas mitigation in China.Methods The investigation was conducted on the Chongming Island,north subtropical China.Field sites were reclaimed from coastal salt marshes in the 1960s,and soils were homogeneous with simple land use:histories.SOC stocks and R,levels were monitored over one year in a paddy rice cropland,an evergreen and a deciduous broad-leaved plantation established on previous paddy fields and a reference fal-low land site never cultivated.Laboratory incubation of soil under fast-changing temperatures was used to compare the temperature sensitivity(Q10)of SOC decomposition across land uses.Important Findings After 15-20 years of afforestation on paddy fields,SOC concentra-tion only slightly increased at the depth of 0--5 cm but decreased in deeper layers,which resulted in a net loss of SOC stock in the top 40cm.Seasonal increase of sOC was observed during the rice-growing period in croplands but not in afforested soils,suggest-ing a stronger SOC sequestration by paddy rice cropping.However,SOC sequestered under cropping was more labile,as indicated by its higher contents of dissolved organic carbon and microbial bio-mass.Also,paddy soils had higher annual R,than afforested soils;R,abruptly increased after paddy fields were drained and plowed and remained distinctively high throughout the dry farming period.Laboratory incubation revealed that paddy soils had a much higher Q10 of SOC decomposition than afforested soils.Given that tem-perature was the primary controller of R,in this region,it was con-cluded that despite the stronger SOC sequestration by paddy rice cropping,its SOC was less stable than in afforested systems and might be more easily released into the atmosphere under global warming.Jun Cui Rongjuan Zhang Naishun Bu Huabin Zhang Boping Tang Zhaolei Li Lifeng Jiang Jiakuan Chen Changming Fang 2013Journal of Plant Ecology2013,6,3:4
7Deformation mechanism of compression of 2024 Al alloy in semi-solid state显示文摘The deformation mechanism of alloy in the semi-solid state has been investigated, with the compression of 2024 Al alloy in the semi-solid state as an example. Experimental results showed that the compressive deformation of 2024 Al alloy in the semi-solid state was mainly caused by the liquid flowing under the hydrostatic compressive stress, the grain boundary sliding under the shear stress and the plastic deformation of grain under the normal compressive stress. 10Green Synthesis of Magnetic Adsorbent Using Groundwater Treatment Sludge for Tetracycline Adsorption显示文摘Groundwater treatment sludge is an industrial waste that is massively produced from groundwater treatment plants.Conventional methods for treatment of this sludge,such as discharge into deep wells or the sea,or disposal at landfills,are not environmentally sustainable.Here,we demonstrate an alternative strategy to recycle the sludge by preparing a magnetic maghemite adsorbent via a one-step hydrothermal method with NaOH solution as the only solvent.With this method,the weakly magnetized sludge,which contained 33.2%iron(Fe)and other impurities(e.g.,silicon(Si),aluminum(Al),and manganese(Mn)),was converted to magnetic adsorbent(MA)with the dissolution of Si/Al oxides(e.g.,quartz and albite)into the liquid fraction.At a NaOH concentration of 2 mol L^-1,approximately 18.1%of the ferrihydrite in the Fe oxides of the sludge was converted into 11.2%maghemite and 6.9%hematite after the hydrothermal treatment.MA2(i.e.,MA produced by a 2 mol L^-1 NaOH concentration)exhibited a good magnetic response of 8.2 emu g^-1(1 emu=10^-3 A m^2),and a desirable surface site concentration of 0.75 mmol g^-1.The synthesized MA2 was used to adsorb the cationic pollutant tetracycline(TC).The adsorption kinetics of TC onto MA2 fitted well with a pseudo-second-order model,and the adsorption isotherms complied well with the Langmuir model.The maximum adsorption capacity of MA2 for TC was 362.3 mg g^-1,and the main mechanism for TC adsorption was cationic exchange.This study is the first to demonstrate the preparation of an MA from recycled sludge without a reductant and/or exogenous Fe source.The prepared adsorbent can be used as a low-cost adsorbent with high capacity for TC sorption in the treatment of TC-containing wastewater.Zhan Qu Yaqiong Wu Suiyi Zhu Yang Yu Mingxin Huo Leilei Zhang Jiakuan Yang Dejun Bian Yi Wang 2019Engineering2019,5,5:2
11Incomplete lineage sorting and introgression in the diversification of Chinese spot-billed ducks and mallards显示文摘Incomplete lineage sorting and introgression are 2 major and nonexclusive causes of specieslevel non-monophyly.Distinguishing between these 2 processes is notoriously difficult because they can generate similar genetic signatures.Previous studies have suggested that 2 closely related duck species,the Chinese spot-billed duck Anas zonorhyncha and the mallard A.platyrhynchosvjere polyphyletically intermixed.Here,we utilized a wide geographical sampling,multilocus data and a coalescent-based model to revisit this system.Our study confirms the finding that Chinese spot-billed ducks and Mallards are not monophyletic.There was no apparent interspecific differentiation across loci except those at the mitochondrial DNA(mtDNA)control region and the Z chromosome(CHD1Z).Based on an isolation-with-migration model and the geographical distribution of lineages,we suggest that both introgression and incomplete lineage sorting might contribute to the observed non-monophyly of the 2 closely related duck species.The mtDNA introgression was asymmetric,with high gene flow from Chinese spot-billed ducks to Mallards and negligible gene flow in the opposite direction.Given that the 2 duck species are phenotypically distinctive but weakly genetically differentiated,future work based on genomescale data is necessary to uncover genomic regions that are involved in divergence,and this work may provide further insights into the evolutionary histories of the 2 species and other waterfowls.Wenjuan WANG Yafang WANG Fumin Lei Yang LIU Haitao WANG Jiakuan Chen 2019Current Zoology2019,65,5:2

13Trophic relationships in the Changjiang River estuarine salt marshes: preliminary investigation from δ^(13)C and δ^(15)N analysis显示文摘To obtain information on food web structure in salt marshes of the Changjiang (Yangtze) River Estuary, the δ13C and δ15N values of primary producers and consumers were determined. The mean δ13C values of 31 dominant consumers ranged from -23.13‰ to -14.37‰. Except for several species (Eriocheir sinensis, Sinonovacula constricta and Potamocorbula ustulata), consumers had intermediate δ13C values between those of benthic microalgae and Spartina alterniflora. The mean δ15N values of 31 dominant consumers varied between 6.87‰ and 13.33‰, which indicate three trophic levels in salt marshes of the Changjiang River Estuary. A total of 18 macroinvertebrates species and four fish species represented primary consumers with trophic levels ranging from 2.0 to 2.7. Secondary consumers included two macroinvertebrates and seven fishes with trophic levels varying between 3.0 and 3.9. The consumers were divided into three trophic guilds, i.e., detritivorous/algae feeders, omnivores and carnivores. The detrital food chain was the main energy flow pathway in the salt marsh food web of the Changjiang River Estuary, and the marsh vascular plants were at least as equally important as microphytobenthos for secondary production. 14nvasive Spartina and reduced sediments: Shanghai’s dangerous silver bullet显示文摘Aims This synthesis paper is developed to provide a summary of ecological,socioeconomic challenges facing the estuarine wetlands within the Yangtze River delta.Methods We combined literature review of the estuarine wetlands and ground measurements of sedimentation,vegetation,and carbon fluxes to illustrate the foreseeable crises in managing these wetlands that play a critical role in Shanghai’s urban development.Where the Yangtze River meets the Pacific Ocean,4.153108 mg/year of suspended sediments are deposited along mainland and island shorelines of the 40000 km2 delta-resulting in an average growth rate of land outwards 64 m/year since 1951.However,completion of the Three Gorges Dam in 2003,and earlier dam projects,reduced the rates of sedimentation and growth of the islands.To meet the increasing demands for lands and agriculture,policymakers have attempted to enlarge the islands by diking coastal areas and introducing Spartina alterniflora-a grass native to tidal salt marshes of the southeastern USA but exotic to China.Spartina is one of the 16 greatest invasive species listed by the State Environmental Protection Administration of China.Successful plantations and rapid spread of this species have increased the production and fertility of the coast,but at the cost of native ecosystems.We outline the social,economic,and ecological controversies related to this land management strategy in the context of global warming.Important findings Combinations of these changes,including sea level rise,and alterations to storm patterns and long-shore currents,with the continued spread of Spartina,human population growth,and river flow and sediment reduction will make current management untenable.Jiquan Chen Bin Zhao Wenwei Ren Sari C.Saunders Zhijun Ma Bo Li Yiqi Luo Jiakuan Chen 2008Journal of Plant Ecology2008,1,2:2
