| 1 | UDP-glucose pyrophosphorylase2 (OsUgp2), a pollen-preferential gene in rice, plays a critical role in starch accumulation during pollen maturation显示文摘UDP-glucose pyrophosphorylase (UGPase) is predominantly present and plays significant role in carbohydrate metabolism in plants. Two homologous UGPase genes, OsUgp1 and OsUgp2, exist in rice genome. OsUgp1 has recently been reported to be essential for callose deposition during pollen mother cell and meiosis stages as well as for seed carbohydrate metabolism. In this study, a full-length cDNA of OsUgp2 was isolated from rice anther. Northern blot and RNA in situ hybridization indicated that the expression of OsUgp2 was preferentially in pollen and developmentally regulated. No transcripts were found in leaf, stem, lemma/palea, ripening grain and florets before the uninucleate microspore developmental stage, but a large quantity of OsUgp2 mRNA was found in pollen at the binucleate and mature stages. The immunolocalization of OsUgp2 showed a similar expression pattern to that by RNA in situ hybridization. The function of OsUgp2 was investigated by dsRNA-mediated transcriptional gene silencing. The pollen fertility of 16 independent transgenic rice plants was found between 25% and 90%, which was correlated with the amount of OsUgp2 mRNA. The results of morphological changes and starch variation during pollen development in transgenic rice showed that the abnormal feature of pollen development appeared after the uninucleate microspore stage. Starch failed to accumulate in pollen and thus led to sterile pollens. These results demonstrated that OsUgp2 is a pollen-preferential 'late gene' and plays a key role during pollen maturation, especially for starch accumulation. | 2 | Different dietary starch sources alter the carcass traits, meat quality, and the profile of muscle amino acid and fatty acid in finishing pigs显示文摘Background: With increasing health awareness among consumers, the demand for healthier, tastier, higher quality and nutritional value pork is increasing. It has been shown that different dietary starch sources can alter the carcass traits and meat quality. However, research on the effects of different starch sources with clear different amylose/amylopectin ratio on the amino acid and fatty acid composition in Longissimus thoracis(L. thoracis) muscle of pigs is limited. This study aimed to investigate the effects of different dietary starch sources on carcass traits, meat quality, muscle amino acid and fatty acid composition, and the mRNA expression levels of genes involved in lipid metabolism and muscle fiber characteristics in finishing pigs. A total of 72 Duroc × Landrace × Large White barrows were randomly allocated to 3 different dietary treatment groups with 8 replicate pens/group and 3 pigs per pen.Tapioca starch(TS), corn starch(CS), and pea starch(PS), with amylose/amylopectin ratio of 0.11, 0.25, and 0.44,respectively, were used as their dietary starch sources for 40 days.Results: Results showed that the PS diet significantly increased(P < 0.05) the final body weight, average daily gain,loin-eye area, and fat-free lean index compared with the TS diet, but significantly decreased(P < 0.05) the feed to gain ratio and backfat thickness. Compared with the TS diet, PS diet also increased(P < 0.05) the pH45 min, marbling scores, the content of intramuscular fat and inosine monophosphate in the L. thoracis, and decreased(P < 0.05) the drip loss and shear force. In addition, compared with the TS diet, PS diet increased(P < 0.05) the proportions of flavor amino acids, DHA, EPA, and n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid(PUFA) in the L. thoracis compared with TS diet,but decreased(P < 0.05) the ratio of n-6/n-3 PUFA. | 4 | An efficient RNS parity checker for moduli set{2~n-1,2~n+1,2^(2n)+1}and its applications显示文摘Residue number system (RNS) has received considerable attention since decades before,because it has inherent carry-free and parallel properties in addition,sub-traction,and multiplication operations. For an odd moduli set,the fundamental problems in RNS,such as number comparison,sign determination,and overflow detection,can be solved based on parity checking. The paper proposes a parity checking algorithm along with related propositions and the certification based on the celebrated Chinese remainder theory (CRT) and mixed radix conversion (MRC) for the moduli set {2n-1,2n+1,22n+1}. The parity checker consists of two modular adders and a carry-look-ahead chain. The hardware implementation requires less area and path delay. Besides,the implementations of number comparison,sign determination,and overflow detection,which are based on this parity checker,are also performed in this paper. | 5 | Maize grain concentrations and above-ground shoot acquisition of micronutrients as affected by intercropping with turnip, faba bean, chickpea, and soybean显示文摘Most research on micronutrients in maize has focused on maize grown as a monocrop. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of intercropping on the concentrations of micronutrients in maize grain and their acquisition via the shoot. We conducted field experiments to investigate the effects of intercropping with turnip (Brassica campestris L.), faba bean (Vicia faba L.), chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.), and soybean (Glycine max L.) on the iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn) concentrations in the grain and their acquisition via the above-ground shoots of maize (Zea mays L.). Compared with monocropped maize grain, the grain of maize intercropped with legumes showed lower concentrations of Fe, Mn, Cu, and Zn and lower values of their corresponding harvest indexes. The micronutrient concentrations and harvest indexes in grain of maize intercropped with turnip were the same as those in monocropped maize grain. Intercropping stimulated the above-ground maize shoot acquisition of Fe, Mn, Cu and Zn, when averaged over different phosphorus (P) application rates. To our knowledge, this is the first report on the effects of intercropping on micronutrient concentrations in maize grain and on micronutrients acquisition via maize shoots (straw+grain). The maize grain Fe and Cu concentrations, but not Mn and Zn concentrations, were negatively correlated with maize grain yields. The concentrations of Fe, Mn, Cu, and Zn in maize grain were positively correlated with their corresponding harvest indexes. The decreased Fe, Mn, Cu, and Zn concentrations in grain of maize intercropped with legumes were attributed to reduced translocation of Fe, Mn, Cu, and Zn from vegetative tissues to grains. This may also be related to the delayed senescence of maize plants intercropped with legumes. We conclude that turnip/maize intercropping is beneficial to obtain high maize grain yield without decreased concentrations of Fe, Mn, Cu, and Zn in the grain. | 8 | A 2~n scaling scheme for signed RNS integers and its VLSI implementation显示文摘High effcient implementation of scaling in residue number system (RNS) is one of the critical issues for the applications of RNS in digital signal processing (DSP) systems. In this paper, an effcient scaling algorithm for signed integers in RNS is proposed firstly through introducing a correction constant in negative integers scaling procedure. Based on the proposed scaling algorithm, an effcient RNS 2n scaling implementation method is presented, in which Chinese remainder theorem (CRT) and a redundant modulus are used to perform the base extension to obtain the least significant n bits of RNS integers. With the redundant modulus, the RNS sign detection can be achieved by the parity detection. And then, an approach to update the residue digit of the redundant channel is also proposed. Meanwhile, this paper provides a method of computing the correction constant of the redundant channel in negative integers scaling. The analysis results indicate that the complexity of the proposed scaling algorithm grows linearly with the word-length of the RNS dynamic range without using Look-up Table (LUT). Furthermore, the proposed algorithm is employed for a specific moduli set 2n scaling. The synthesis results show that the critical path of the proposed algorithm is shortened by 12%, the area and power consumption performance is improved by about 35%, compared to the existing cascading 2n scaling method for very large scale integration (VLSI) implementation under the same restriction. | 9 | Urban Green Space, Uneven Development and Accessibility: A Case of Dalian′s Xigang District显示文摘This study examines the socio-spatial context of uneven development and the residential accessibility of green space in Dalian of Liaoning Province, China. The social fairness was analyzed with a community scale as the basis. We combined social scientific methods with a GIS method using a behavior accessibility model from the perspectives of fairness of urban green space allocation based on social geography, geographic information science, management science and many other related discipline theories. | 11 | Integral equation of relationship on the apparent conductivity and true conductivity in induction logging显示文摘This paper investigates the relation between the induced electromotive force measured by induction logging tool and the apparent conductivity, and the relation between the apparent conductivity and the formation true conductivity. Assuming the conductivity in Green's function to be the function of the field point coordinate, the apparent conductivity expression of electric-field intensity is derived using Green's formula, and the integral equation has been established representing the relationship of the apparent conductivity with the true conductivity under this condition. The integral equation is analyzed and then leads to the conclusion that the equivalent conductivity is the apparent conductivity and the values of the apparent conductivity function contain the true conductivity, and the method derived the true conductivity from the apparent conductivity around the well axis is put forward. The validity of the approach given in this paper is verified through numerical calculation. | 16 | In situ self-assembled organoid for osteochondral tissue regeneration with dual functional units显示文摘The regeneration of hierarchical osteochondral units is challenging due to difficulties in inducing spatial,directional and controllable differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)into cartilage and bone compartments.Emerging organoid technology offers new opportunities for osteochondral regeneration.In this study,we developed gelatin-based microcryogels customized using hyaluronic acid(HA)and hydroxyapatite(HYP),respectively for inducing cartilage and bone regeneration(denoted as CH-Microcryogels and OS-Microcryogels)through in vivo self-assembly into osteochondral organoids.The customized microcryogels showed good cytocompatibility and induced chondrogenic and osteogenic differentiation of MSCs,while also demonstrating the ability to self-assemble into osteochondral organoids with no delamination in the biphasic cartilage-bone structure.Analysis by mRNA-seq showed that CH-Microcryogels promoted chondrogenic differentiation and inhibited inflammation,while OS-Microcryogels facilitated osteogenic differentiation and suppressed the immune response,by regulating specific signaling pathways.Finally,the in vivo engraftment of pre-differentiated customized microcryogels into canine osteochondral defects resulted in the spontaneous assembly of an osteochondral unit,inducing simultaneous regeneration of both articular cartilage and subchondral bone.In conclusion,this novel approach for generating self-assembling osteochondral organoids utilizing tailor-made microcryogels presents a highly promising avenue for advancing the field of tissue engineering. | Zhen Yang Bin Wang Wei Liu Xiaoke Li Kaini Liang Zejun Fan Jiao Jiao Li Yudi Niu Zihao He Hui Li Du Wang Jianjing Lin Yanan Du Jianhao Lin Dan Xing | 2023 | Bioactive Materials2023,,9: | 2 |

| 20 | Colonization of Penicillium oxalicum SL2 in Pb-contaminated paddy soil and its immobilization effect on soil Pb显示文摘Penicillium oxalicum SL2(SL2) is a previously screened Pb-tolerant fungus that can promote crops growth. The relationship between SL2 colonization and Pb immobilization was studied to provide a theoretical basis for microbial remediation of Pb-contaminated paddy soil.In this study, green fluorescent protein(GFP) labeled SL2 was inoculated into different Pbcontaminated paddy soils(S1-S6). The Pb extracted from the soil by HNO, EDTA and CaClwere used to characterize the available Pb. The results showed that the colonization of SL2was divided into lag phase(0-7 days), growth phase(7-30 days), and mortality phase(30-90days). SL2 colonized well in sandy soils rich in clay and total phosphorus with initial p H of 4.5-7.0. In addition, SL2 increased soil p H and decreased soil Eh, which was beneficial to immobilize Pb. In different soils, the highest percentages of CaCl-Pb, EDTA-Pb, and HNO3-Pb immobilized by SL2 were 34.34%-40.53%, 17.05%-20.11%, and 7.39%-15.62%, respectively.Pearson correlation analysis showed that the percentages of CaCl-Pb and EDTA-Pb immobilized by SL2 were significantly positively correlated with the number of SL2 during the growth phase.
