1Relocation of the 10 March 2011 Yingjiang,China,earthquake sequence and its tectonic implications显示文摘An earthquake with MS5.8 occurred on 10 March 2011 in Yingjiang county,western Yunnan,China.This earthquake caused 25 deaths and over 250 injuries.In order to better understand the seismotectonics in the region,we collected the arrival time data from the Yunnan seismic observational bulletins during 1 January to 25 March 2011,and precisely hand-picked the arrival times from high-quality seismograms that were recorded by the temporary seismic stations deployed by our Institute of Crustal Dynamics,China Earthquake Administration.Using these arrival times,we relocated all the earthquakes including the Yingjiang mainshock and its aftershocks using the double-difference relocation algorithm.Our results show that the relocated earthquakes dominantly occurred along the ENE direction and formed an upside-down bow-shaped structure in depth.It is also observed that after the Yingjiang mainshock,some aftershocks extended toward the SSE over about 10 km.These results may indicate that the Yingjiang mainshock ruptured a conjugate fault system consisting of the ENE trending Da Yingjiang fault and a SSE trending blind fault.Such structural features could contribute to severely seismic hazards during the moderate-size Yingjiang earthquake.Jianshe Lei Guangwei Zhang Furen Xie Yuan Li Youjin Su Lifang Liu Honghu Ma Junwei Zhang 2012Earthquake Science2012,25,1:35
2The 20 April 2013 Lushan, Sichuan, mainshock, and its aftershock sequence: tectonic implications显示文摘Using the double-difference relocation algorithm,we relocated the 20 April 2013 Lushan,Sichuan,earthquake(MS7.0),and its 4,567 aftershocks recorded during the period between 20 April and May 3,2013.Our results showed that most aftershocks are relocated between10 and 20 km depths,but some large aftershocks were relocated around 30 km depth and small events extended upward near the surface.Vertical cross sections illustrate a shovel-shaped fault plane with a variable dip angle from the southwest to northeast along the fault.Furthermore,the dip angle of the fault plane is smaller around the mainshock than that in the surrounding areas along the fault.These results suggest that it may be easy to generate the strong earthquake in the place having a small dip angle of the fault,which is somewhat similar to the genesis of the 2008Wenchuan earthquake.The Lushan mainshock is underlain by the seismically anomalous layers with low-VP,low-VS,and high-Poisson’s ratio anomalies,possibly suggesting that the fluid-filled fractured rock matrices might significantly reduce the effective normal stress on the fault plane to bring the brittle failure.The seismic gap between Lushan and Wenchuan aftershocks is suspected to be vulnerable to future seismic risks at greater depths,if any.Jianshe Lei Guangwei Zhang Furen Xie 2014Earthquake Science2014,27,1:22
3Review of Ultraviolet Non-Line-of-Sight Communication显示文摘With rapid advances of solar blind ultraviolet LED and ultraviolet detecting technology in recent years, ultraviolet communication gradually becomes a research hotspot due to its inherent advantages: low solar background noise, non-line-of-sight(NLOS) and good secrecy. The strong scattering characteristics in atmospheric render ultraviolet waveband the ideal choice for achieving NLOS optical communication. This paper reviews the research history and status of ultraviolet communication both in China and abroad, and especially introduces three main issues of ultraviolet communication: channel model, system analysis and design, light sources and detectors. 4Distribution of polybrominated diphenyl ethers and decabromodiphenylethane in surface sediments from Fuhe River and Baiyangdian Lake,North China显示文摘Nineteen surface sediment samples collected from Baiyangdian Lake and its inflowing river (Fuhe River) in North China were analyzed for polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and decabromodiphenylethane (DBDPE).The concentrations of PBDEs and DBDPE in sediments ranged from 5.5 to 300.7 ng/g dry weight (dw) and 1.1 to 68.2 ng/g dw,respectively.Their levels in sediments in Fuhe River were significantly higher than those in Baiyandian Lake.Compared to data from other regions,the PBDE levels in surface sediments from Baiyangdian Lake and Fuhe River were in the medium to lower range.Among the PBDE congeners,BDE209 was predominant,with contributions to the total PBDEs ranging from 79.4% to 97.3% in sediment samples.For the lowly brominated congeners (tri-to hepta-BDE),BDE47 and BDE99 were the most abundant,which contributed 52.1% and 44.1% to the sum of tri-to hepta-BDEs in the sediments from Baiyangdian Lake and Fuhe River,respectively.The compositional patterns of PBDEs in Baiyangdian Lake sediments indicated that technical deca-BDE mixture was the major pollutant sources with a minor contribution of penta-BDE mixture.The present study suggested that the importance of Fuhe River as a possibly potential sources of PBDEs contamination in Baiyangdian Lake.Guocheng Hu Zhencheng Xu Jiayin Dai Bixian Mai Hong Cao Jianshe Wang Zhimin Shi Muqi Xu 2010Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,12:18
5Boundary value problems of discrete generalized Emden-Fowler equation显示文摘By using the critical point theory, some sufficient conditions for the existence of the solutions to the boundary value problems of a discrete generalized Emden-Fowler equation are obtained. In a special case, a sharp condition is obtained for the existence of the boundary value problems of the above equation. 6Post-Mesozoic Transformation of Tectonic Domain in Southeastern China and Its Geodynamic Mechanism显示文摘Since the Mesozoic and Cenozoic, a transformation from a Tethyan Himalayan tectonic domain into a circum Pacific tectonic domain from Indosinian to Yanshanian is indicated in this paper, resulting in conspicuous changes in geophysics, tectono magmatic distribution, lithofacies and paleo geography, tectonic system in southeastern China. Tectonic analysis shows that the tectonic framework resulted from the compounding, transforming and superimposing of the two tectonic domains. 8Seismic tomography of the Moon显示文摘We attempted to determine the first three-dimensional P and S wave velocity and Poisson's ratio structures of the lunar crust and mantle down to 1000 km depth under the near-side of the Moon by applying seismic tomography to the moonquake arrival-time data recorded by the Apollo seismic network operated during 1969 to 1977.Our results show that significant lateral heterogeneities may exist in the lunar interior.Because there is no plate tectonics in the Moon,the lateral heterogeneities may be produced at the early stage of the Moon formation and evolution,and they have been preserved till today.There seems to be a correlation between the distribution of deep moonquakes and lateral velocity variations in the lunar lower mantle,suggesting that the occurrence of deep moonquakes may be affected by the lunar structural heterogeneity in addition to the tidal stresses.Although this is an experimental work and the result is still preliminary,it indicates that tomographic imaging of the lunar interior is feasible.ZHAO DaPeng LEI JianShe LIU Lucy 2008Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,24:11

11Electrochemical synthesis of silver nanoparticles-coated gold nanoporous film electrode and its application to amperometric detection for trace Cr(VI)显示文摘A simple and rapid approach for the electrochemical synthesis of Ag nanoparticles-coated gold nanoporous film (AgGNF) on a gold substrate was reported. The solid gold electrode (SGE) was directly anodized under a high potential of 5 V, and then reduced to obtain gold nanoporous film (AuNF) by freshly prepared ascorbic acid. The Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs) were grown on the AuNF electrode by potential-step electrodeposition. The resulting AgGNF composites electrodes were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry (CV). As-prepared AgGNF electrode was used as a kind of superior sensor for Cr(VI) detection, which exhibited better electrocatalytic behavior than those of AuNF and SGE under identical conditions. Such a designed AgGNF nanocomposites electrode showed outstanding sensitivity (about 0.15 nA/ppb) and favorable reproducibility for Cr(VI) detection. The dependence of reduction current on Cr(VI) concentration is linear from 2 to 370 ppb with a low detection limit of 0.65 ppb. Interferences from other heavy metals ions (Cr3+, Cu2+, Pb2+, As3+ and Hg2+) associated with Cr(VI) analysis could be effectively diminished. 13Influencing factors of water resources in the source region of the Yellow River显示文摘Taking the source region of the Yellow River as a study area and based on the data from Madoi Meteorological Station and Huangheyan Hydrological Station covering the period 1955–2005, this paper analyses the changing trends of surface water resources, climate and frozen ground and reveals their causes. Results show that there exist frequent fluctuations from high to low water flow in the 51-year period. In general, the discharge has shown a de- clining trend in the 51 years especially since the 1990s. The annual distribution shows one peak which, year on year is getting smaller. (1) Precipitation has a significant and sustained influence on discharge. (2) A sharp rise of temperature resulted in the increase of evaporation and the decrease of discharge, which has a greater effect than on ice-snow melting. (3) Frozen ground tends to be degraded markedly. There is a significant positive correlation be- tween the permafrost thickness and the discharge. 15Preparation and properties of chitosan–metal complex:Some factors influencing the adsorption capacity for dyes in aqueous solution显示文摘Chitosan–metal complexes have been widely studied in wastewater treatment, but there are still various factors in complex preparation which are collectively responsible for improving the adsorption capacity need to be further studied. Thus, this study investigates the factors affecting the adsorption ability of chitosan–metal complex adsorbents, including various kinds of metal centers, different metal salts and crosslinking degree. The results show that the chitosan–Fe( Ⅲ) complex prepared by sulfate salts exhibited the best adsorption efficiency(100%) for various dyes in very short time duration(10 min), and its maximum adsorption capacity achieved 349.22 mg/g. The anion of the metal salt which was used in preparation played an important role to enhance the adsorption ability of chitosan–metal complex. SO_4^(2-) ions not only had the effect of crosslinking through electrostatic interaction with amine group of chitosan polymer, but also could facilitate the chelation of metal ions with chitosan polymer during the synthesis process.Additionally, the p H sensitivity and the sensitivity of ionic environment for chitosan–metal complex were analyzed. 16Crustal thickness and Poisson's ratio beneath the Yunnan region显示文摘A total of 1939 receiver functions were obtained from 732 teleseismic events (M>5.0) recorded at 21 broadband portable seismic stations on the Tengchong, Baoshan and Simao blocks and Yangtze platform. These stations were installed by the Institute of Crustal Dynamics, China Earthquake Administration during 2010 and 2011. Using the H-κ stacking and searching method, crustal thickness and velocity ratio beneath the stations are obtained. Results show that crustal thickness and Poisson's ratio inferred from the velocity ratio clearly vary, and they illustrate block features in deep structures. Except for the Tengchong block, crustal thickness increases from south to north along the same block and from west to east across different blocks. In the Yangtze platform, Poisson's ratio and crustal thickness show a consistent and significant increasing trend from south to north, possibly indicating that crustal thickening is caused mainly by lower crustal variations. In contrast, Poisson's ratio has no significant change within the Baoshan and Simao blocks. Such differences demonstrate that the Jinshajiang-Red River fault is a southern boundary of the South China block. The H-κ results inferred from three portable stations on the Tengchong block show high Poisson's ratios, but they vary clearly with back-azimuth, implying the existence of strong anisotropy in the crustal medium beneath the stations.ZHA XiaoHui LEI JianShe 2013Science China Earth Sciences2013,56,4:6

20Effects of pentachlorophenol on the detoxification system in white-rumped munia(Lonchura striata)显示文摘Pentachlorophenol(PCP), a priority pollutant due to its persistence and high toxicity, has been used worldwide as a pesticide and biocide. To understand the adverse effects of PCP, adult male white-rumped munias(Lonchura striata) were orally administrated commercial PCP mixed with corn oil at dosages of 0, 0.05, 0.5, and 5 mg/(kg·day) for 42 day. Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry(GC–MS) analysis found that PCP was preferentially accumulated in the kidney rather than in the liver and muscle in all exposure groups. To examine the function of CYP1A in pollutant metabolism, we isolated two full-length cDNA fragments(designated as CYP1A4 and CYP1A5) from L. striata liver using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and rapid amplification of cDNA ends. PCP induced the expression of CYP1A5, although no obvious change was observed in CYP1A4 expression. Furthermore, PCP significantly elevated the activities of ethoxyresorufin O-deethylase and methoxyresorufin O-demethylase and decreased the activity of benzyloxy-trifluoromethyl-coumarin, with no significant responses observed in benzyloxyresorufin O-debenzylase. PCP induced significant changes in antioxidant enzyme(superoxide dismutase and catalase) activities and malondialdehyde content, but decreased glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px) and glutathione S-transferase activities and GSH content in the liver of L. striata.
