| 8 | The molecular basis for ethnic variation and histological subtype differences in prostate cancer显示文摘Prostate cancer is a common malignancy among men in Western countries. Recently the morbidity and mortality of prostate cancer increase dramatically in several oriental countries including China. Rapidly evolving technology in molecular biology such as high-throughput sequencing and integrative analysis of genomic and transcriptomic landscapes have enabled the identification of key oncogenic events for prostate cancer initiation, progression and resistance to hormonal therapy. These surging data of prostate cancer genome also provide insights on ethnic variation and the differences in histological subtype of this disease. In this review, differences in the incidence of prostate cancer and the prevalence of main genetic alterations between Asian and Western populations are discussed. | 12 | Meet Guest Editor显示文摘Dr. Huang earned his medical degree from Anhui Medical University, and obtained a Master's degree in pharmacology from Beijing Institute of Radiation Medicine. He came to the US in 1987 and earned his PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from NYU School of Medicine in 1991. He was a Leukemia Society of America Postdoctoral Fellow at NYU and Yale University. He did his residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at NYU and fellowship in Oncologic Surgical Pathology at Memorial Sloan- Kettering. He became an assistant professor at the University of Rochester in July 2000 and rose to the rank of full professor in 2007. Dr. Huang moved to UCLA in 2008 to be Professor of Pathology and later Director of Surgical Pathology.
