| 1 | Advanced Na metal anodes显示文摘Na metal anode, benefiting from its high theoretical capacity and lowest electrochemical potential, is one of the most favorable candidates for future Na-based batteries with high energy density. Dendrite growth, volume change and high reactivity are the formidable challenges in terms of good cycling performance and high Coulombic efficiency as well as an expected safety guarantee of Na metal anode for the practical application. Solid electrolyte interphase(SEI) layer as an indispensable component of a battery,its formation and stability play the critical role in the feasibility of Na metal anode. In this review, we first discuss the current consideration and challenges of Na metal anode, and then summarize several strategies to suppress dendrite growth and improve electrochemical performance, including interface engineering, electrolyte composition, electrode construction, and so on. | 5 | Fish Assemblage Responses to a Low-head Dam Removal in the Lancang River显示文摘Dam removal is becoming an effective approach for aquatic biodiversity restoration in damming river in order to balance the aquatic ecosystem conservation with large-scale cascade damming. However, the effects of dam removal on fish communities in Asian mountainous rivers, which are dominated by Cypriniformes fishes, are still not well known. To determine whether dam removal on a mountainous river benefit restoration of fish diversity, we investigated the response of fish assemblage to dam removal using a before-after-control-impact design in two tributaries of the Lancang River(dam removal river: the Jidu River, and control river: the Fengdian River). Fish surveys were conducted one year prior to dam removal(2012) and three years(2013–2015) following dam removal. We observed rapidly and notably spatio-temporal changes in fish biodiversity metrics and assemblage structure, occurring in the Jidu River within the first year after dam removal. Overall, fish species richness, density and Shannon-Wiener diversity all increased immediately in above-and below-dam sites, and maintained a stable level in subsequent years, compared to unchanged situation in the control river. All sites in the Jidu River experienced shifts in fish composition after dam removal, with the greatest temporal changes occurred in sites below-and above-the former dam, resulting in a temporal homogenization tendency in the dam removed river. | 6 | A General Strategy toward Synthesis of Well-Defined Polypeptides with Complex Chain Topologies显示文摘The precise synthesis of polypeptides with varying chain topologies has attracted significant interest due to their diverse functional applications.However,conventional polymerization of environment-susceptible N-carboxylic anhydride monomers using primary amine initiators suffers from inevitable side reactions,which greatly compromise chain-end fidelity,thereby disabling access to polypeptides with high-order architectures.Herein,we have developed a general and robust strategy based on normal aminemechanism for the synthesis of various topological polypeptides via polymerization of moisture-insensitive and airtolerant N-phenoxycarbonyl-functionalizedα-amino acid precursors using primary amine hydrochloride as initiators.This strategy enabled the synthesis of a block,star,star-block,brush-type,and multiblock(co)polypeptides with desired sequences,predictable molecular weights,low polydispersity,and high-fidelity chain ends even under open-air conditions.Remarkably,the robustness of this approach has been exemplified by the precise synthesis of welldefined photoresponsive decablock copolypeptides,exhibiting a spontaneous morphological evolution from polymersomes to lamellae nanostructures upon light irradiation.This work provides a general and reliable tool for synthesizing polypeptides with varying topologies,shedding light on the development of synthetic polypeptide-based materials. | Lei Li Jie Cen Wenjin Li Wenhao Pan Yuben Zhang Hao Yin Jinming Hu Shiyong Liu | 2022 | CCS Chemistry2022,4,12: | 0 |
| 7 | Unevenly distributed LED light produces distinct behavioral preferences and production performance of broilers显示文摘LED has shown great advantages in poultry husbandry.This study focused on the behavioral preferences and production performance of chicken broilers reared under unevenly distributed yellow LED light.Four pens were divided into two groups adopting respective maximum light intensities(MLIs,60 lx and 30 lx).Because of different distances from the installation position of the LED pipe,each pen was distributed with unevenly distributed light.Each pen consisted of four subzones indicated by their light intensities-high intensity(HI),medium intensity(MI),low intensity(LI)and weak intensity(WI).Four subzones were the same size and provided with a feeder and a drinker,respectively.The broilers moved freely across the four subzones.No significant differences in body weight(BW),uniformity of final BW and feed conversion ratio(FCR)were observed between the two experimental groups.However,greater feed intake and water intake were found in HI than those in other subzones.The drinking preference changed with age for four subzones and was more likely to appear at the later stage,despite substantial fluctuations within the replicates.The feeding preference was more constant than the drinking preference and appeared mainly at the early and middle stages of this study.These findings could provide implications for broiler production reared under unevenly distributed LED light condition. | Chenghao Pan Minsi Lu Yingping Zhang Yue Yu Qiuyan Lu Yefeng Yang Jinming Pan | 2019 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2019,12,2: | 0 |
| 8 | DEVELOPMENT OF AN AUTOMATIC WEIGHING PLATFORM FOR MONITORING BODYWEIGHT OF BROILER CHICKENS IN COMMERCIAL PRODUCTION显示文摘Bodyweight is a key indicator of broiler production as it measures the production efficiency and indicates the health of a flock.Currently,broiler weight(i.e.,bodyweight)is primarily weighed manually,which is timeconsuming and labor-intensive,and tends to create stress in birds.This study aimed to develop an automatic and stress-free weighing platform for monitoring the weight of floor-reared broiler chickens in commercial production.The developed system consists of a weighing platform,a real-time communication terminal,computer software and a smart phone applet userinterface.The system collected weight data of chickens on the weighing platform at intervals of 6 s,followed by filtering of outliers and repeating readings.The performance and stability of this system was systematically evaluated under commercial production conditions.With the adoption of data preprocessing protocol,the average error of the new automatic weighing system was only 10.3 g,with an average accuracy 99.5%with the standard deviation of 2.3%.Further regression analysis showed a strong agreement between estimated weight and the standard weight obtained by the established live-bird sales system.The variance(an indicator of flock uniformity)of broiler weight estimated using automatic weighing platforms was in accordance with the standard weight.The weighing system demonstrated superior stability for different growth stages,rearing seasons,growth rate types(medium-and slow-growing chickens)and sexes.The system is applicable for daily weight monitoring in floor-reared broiler houses to improve feeding management,growth monitoring and finishing day prediction.Its application in commercial farms would improve the sustainability of poultry industry. | Danni ZHOU Yi ZHOU Pengguang HE Lin YU Jinming PAN Lilong CHAI Hongjian LIN | 2023 | Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering2023,10,3: | 0 |
| 9 | Short-wavelength light induces broiler’s behavioral and physiological syndrome through a misaligned eating rhythm显示文摘Previous work shows that long-wavelength light has a robust circadian rhythmic pattern in the expression of clock genes of chickens,whereas short-wavelength light leads to an arrhythmic oscillation of some clock genes(e.g.,cClock,cCry1,cCry2,cPer2,and cPer3).However,knowledge about the consequences of LED lights on the physiological and behavioral phenotype was still not clear.This experiment hypothesize that short-wavelength light disturbs chicken’s eating rhythm and leads to a wrong time to eat,resulting in metabolic syndrome.“Meihuang”broilers were housed in monochromatic LED blue light,green light,yellow light,red light,or white light with a very low dose(15 lx).Multiply physiological parameters were measured and the 24-h eating behavior was determined.The effects of LED light on physiological status and behavioral phenotype showed a wavelength-dependent manner.Short-wavelength light significantly decreased the level of total triglycerides and total cholesterol but increased triiodothyronine concentration.Inversely,long-wavelength light increased the triglycerides and total cholesterol and reduced the level of triiodothyronine.Further,it was found that short-wavelength light significantly boosted body weight compared with long-wavelength light,despite equivalent levels of food intake.Short-wavelength light induced 23.4%and 14.1%of food consumption during subjective nights,but long-wavelength light did not.These results imply that when chickens eat mattered,not just what they eat.Thus,low as 15 lx of blue light exposure during the typical dark period is sufficient to leads an individual to eat at“wrong”time,causing metabolic dysfunction. | Yefeng Yang Qiong Liu Shouyi Wang Li Zeng Chenghao Pan Ahmed Jado Yasser Elhadidi Kai Liu Jinming Pan | 2022 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2022,15,3: | 0 |
