| 1 | Effects of applying lactic acid bacteria to the fermentation on a mixture of corn steep liquor and air-dried rice straw显示文摘This study was to determine the fermentation quality of a mixture of corn steep liquor(CSL)(178 g/kg wet basis) and air-dried rice straw(356 g/kg wet basis) after being treated with inoculants of different types of lactic acid bacteria(LAB). The treatments included the addition of no LAB additive(control),which was deionized water; homo-fermentative LAB alone(^(ho)LAB), which was Lactobacillus plantarum alone), and a mixture of homo-fermentative and hetero-fermentative LAB(^(he+ho)LAB), which were L. plantarum, Lactobacillus casei, and Lactobacillus buchneri. The results showed that the inoculation of the mixture of CSL and air-dried rice straw with ^(he+ho)LAB significantly increased the concentration of acetic acid and lactic acid compared with the control(P < 0.05). The addition of ^(he+ho)LAB effectively inhibited the growth of yeast in the silage. The concentration of total lactic acid bacteria in the ^(he+ho)LAB-treated silage was significant higher than those obtained in other groups(P < 0.05). The duration of the aerobic stability of the silages increased from 56 h to >372 h. The control group was the first to spoil, whereas the silage treated with ^(he+ho)LAB remained stable throughout the 372 h period of monitoring. | 3 | Effect of different levels of corn steep liquor addition on fermentation characteristics and aerobic stability of fresh rice straw silage显示文摘The object of this study was to determine the proper mixing ratio of fresh rice straw to corn steep liquor(CSL) to obtain a high protein content silage feed. The following experimental silages were generated: the control(C1), composed of fresh rice straw without CSL additive, mixed with CSL in the ratios of 4:1(C4),3:1(C3) and 2:1(C2). Lactic acid bacteria(LAB) inoculant was applied at the rate of 50 mL/kg(fresh basis)of forage to achieve a final application rate of 1 x 10~6 cfu/g of fresh matter(FM). Duplicate silos for each treatment were opened after 0,3, 7,10,20,30,45 and 60 d for microbiological and chemical analysis. The results showed that the addition of CSL significantly increased crude protein(CP) contents, and decreased neutral detergent fiber(NDF) and acid detergent fiber(ADF) contents of treatments after 60 d of ensiling(P < 0.05). The lactic acid contents in C4 and C3 were significantly higher than that in C1(P <0.05). In summary, mixing fresh rice straw with CSL at addition levels of 4:1(C4) and 3:1(C3) can improve the fermentation quality and nutrient composition of fresh rice straw silage. | 5 | ω-Assisted refinement of α phase and its effect on the tensile properties of a near β titanium alloy显示文摘In this work, the phase transformation sequence during the continuous heating process(3℃/min) was investigated in a near β titanium alloy. The results show that the staring formation of ω phase is about267℃, and the ending precipitation temperature about 386℃ during the heating process. When the heating temperature is greater than 485℃, there are no ω phase detected within the β matrix. Combined with the microstructural characterization, it is found that ω phase facilitates the nucleation of αphase nearby the ω/β interface and has a great effect on the refinement for α phase. As compared with the specimens directly aged, the specimens with ω-assisted refinement of α phase possess high tensile strength, but there is no yield stage detected on their stress-strain curve. | 10 | Efficient DPCA SAR imaging with fast iterative spectrum reconstruction method显示文摘The displaced phase center antenna(DPCA)technique is an effective strategy to achieve wide-swath synthetic aperture radar(SAR)imaging with high azimuth resolution.However,traditionally,it requires strict limitation of the pulse repetition frequency(PRF)to avoid non-uniform sampling.Otherwise,any deviation could bring serious ambiguity if the data are directly processed using a matched filter.To break this limitation,a recently proposed spectrum reconstruction method is capable of recovering the true spectrum from the nonuniform samples.However,the performance is sensitive to the selection of the PRF.Sparse regularization based imaging may provide a way to overcome this sensitivity.The existing time-domain method,however,requires a large-scale observation matrix to be built,which brings a high computational cost.In this paper,we propose a frequency domain method,called the iterative spectrum reconstruction method,through integration of the sparse regularization technique with spectrum analysis of the DPCA signal.By approximately expressing the observation in the frequency domain,which is realized via a series of decoupled linear operations,the method performs SAR imaging which is then not directly based on the observation matrix,which reduces the computational cost from O(N2)to O(N log N)(where N is the number of range cells),and is therefore more efficient than the time domain method.The sparse regularization scheme,realized via a fast thresholding iteration,has been adopted in this method,which brings the robustness of the imaging process to the PRF selection.We provide a series of simulations and ground based experiments to demonstrate the high efficiency and robustness of the method.The simulations show that the new method is almost as fast as the traditional mono-channel algorithm,and works well almost independently of the PRF selection.Consequently,the suggested method can be accepted as a practical and efficient wide-swath SAR imaging technique. | FANG Jian ZENG JinShan XU ZongBen ZHAO Yao | 2012 | Science China(Information Sciences)2012,55,8: | 2 |

| 14 | Fat deposition deficiency is critical for the high mortality of pre-weanling newborn piglets显示文摘Background: The high mortality of pre-weanling piglets is a dominant challenge which severely restricts the development of pig industry. A number of factors including nutrients imbalance and temperature variation during postnatal period of piglets have been reported to closely associated with the high mortality of postnatal piglets.This study aims to find out the relationship between fat deposition and survival of newborn piglets.Results: There were no differences in organ coefficient and bone density between the surviving and dead piglets(P > 0.05). The body weight and the fat deposition in the dead piglets were lower than the live individuals(P < 0.05).Consistently, the average sizes of white adipocytes in back and abdominal adipose tissues of dead piglets were smaller than the survivals(P < 0.05). The protein expression levels of adipocyte differentiation markers PPARγ and C/EBPα in the back and abdominal adipose tissues were lower in dead piglets compared to live piglets. The mRNA expressions of thermogenic markers PGC1α and PRDM16 in adipose tissues were decreased in the dead piglets(P < 0.05). The microarray of back fat samples from the surviving and dead piglets were conducted; two down-regulated genes namely AAMDC and CASTOR1 were identified from the dead piglets. According to quantitative real-time PCR(RT-PCR) analysis, the mRNA expression of AAMDC decreased, whereas CASTOR1 expression elevated in the dead piglets compared to the surviving piglets(P < 0.05).Conclusions: The fat deposition and adipocyte differentiation in the dead piglets are insufficient compared to the surviving piglets, which may attenuate the thermogenic ability of white adipose tissue(WAT). | 17 | Anti-oxidant anti-inflammatory and antibacterial tannin-crosslinked citrate-based mussel-inspired bioadhesives facilitate scarless wound healing显示文摘The revolutionary role of tissue adhesives in wound closure,tissue sealing,and bleeding control necessitates the development of multifunctional materials capable of effective and scarless healing.In contrast to the use of traditionally utilized toxic oxidative crosslinking initiators(exemplified by sodium periodate and silver nitrate),herein,the natural polyphenolic compound tannic acid(TA)was used to achieve near instantaneous(<25s),hydrogen bond mediated gelation of citrate-based mussel-inspired bioadhesives combining anti-oxidant,anti-inflammatory,and antimicrobial activities(3A-TCMBAs).The resulting materials were self-healing and possessed low swelling ratios(<60%)as well as considerable mechanical strength(up to~1.0 MPa),elasticity(elongation~2700%),and adhesion(up to 40 kPa).The 3A-TCMBAs showed strong in vitro and in vivo anti-oxidant ability,favorable cytocompatibility and cell migration,as well as photothermal antimicrobial activity against both Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli(>90%bacterial death upon near-infrared(NIR)irradiation).In vivo evaluation in both an infected full-thickness skin wound model and a rat skin incision model demonstrated that 3A-TCMBAs+NIR treatment could promote wound closure and collagen deposition and improve the collagen Ⅰ/Ⅲ ratio on wound sites while simultaneously inhibiting the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines.Further,phased angiogenesis was observed via promotion in the early wound closure phases followed by inhibition and triggering of degradation&remodeling of the extracellular matrix(ECM)in the late stage(supported by phased CD31(platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1)PDGF(platelet-derived growth factor)and VEGF(vascular endothelial growth factor)expression as well as elevated matrix metalloprotein-9(MMP-9)expression on day 21),resulting in scarless wound healing.The significant convergence of material and bioactive properties elucidated above warrant further exploration of 3A-TCMBAs as a significant,new class of bioadhesive. | Keke Wu Meimei Fu Yitao Zhao Ethan Gerhard Yue Li Jian Yang Jinshan Guo | 2023 | Bioactive Materials2023,,2: | 1 |
