| 1 | Removal of Ammonia from Wastewater Effluent by Chlorella Vulgaris显示文摘The capability of Chlorella vulgaris to remove nitrogen in the form of ammonia and/or ammonium ions from wastewater effluent in a local wastewater treatment plant (i.e., the Mill Creek Plant in Cincinnati, Ohio, U.S.A.) was studied. The wastewater effluent leaving the plant was found to include high concentra-tions of nitrogen (7.7±0.19 mg/L) (ammonia (NH3) and/or ammonium ion (NH4+)) and total inorganic carbon (58.6±0.28 mg/L) at pH 7, and to be suitable for growing Chlorella vulgaris. When Chlorella vulgaris was cul-tivated in a batch mode under a closed system, half of the nitrogen concentration was dramatically removed in 48 h after a 24-h lag-phase period. Total inorganic carbon concentration also concomitantly decreased during the rapid growth-phase. The total biomass weight gained during the entire cultivation period balanced out well with the total amount of inorganic carbon and nitrogen removed from the culture medium. | 2 | Clear cell papillary renal cell carcinoma: A case report and review of the literature显示文摘Clear cell papillary renal cell carcinoma(ccpRCC) was recently established as a distinct type of epithelial neoplasm by the International Society of Urological Pathology Vancouver Classification of Renal Neoplasia. Here,we report a case of partial nephrectomy for a ccpRCC detected during the routine follow-up of a previously treated liposarcoma in a 70-year-old male patient. The patient was referred to the urology department for a right-sided renal mass(size: 2 cm)detected during routine annual imaging follow-up for a malignant right inguinal fibrous histocytoma and liposarcoma that had been diagnosed 6 and 4 years earlier,respectively,and treated with surgery and adjuvant radiation therapy.Following partial nephrectomy,the renal mass was pathologically diagnosed as ccpRCC,and immunohistochemistry revealed carbonic anhydrase 9(CA9)expression. No recurrences or metastases were detected on follow-up imaging for6 months. | 3 | Surgical treatment outcomes of primary hepatic sarcomas: A singlecenter experience显示文摘BACKGROUND Primary hepatic sarcoma is a rare tumor originated from mesenchymal tissue.There are various pathologic types of primary hepatic sarcoma and the treatment outcome of this tumor was usually disappointing.Unlike hepatocellular carcinoma,outcome of primary hepatic sarcoma is not well-known due to it’s rarity.However,with development of medical technology,surgical treatment may lead to better survival.AIM To investigate the surgical outcomes of primary hepatic sarcoma,we gathered and analyzed the cases of a single institute.METHODS From August 2001 to September 2016,a total of nine patients were surgically treated for primary hepatic sarcoma after exclusion of cases with open and closure,early loss to follow-up and sarcomatoid hepatocellular carcinoma and sarcomatoid cholangiocellular carcinoma.Baseline characteristics,tumor characteristics such as tumor pathology,size and number,surgical and adjuvant treatments were reviewed.Tumor recurrence,and patient survival were analyzed with retrospective approach.RESULTS The enrolled participants included five patients with angiosarcoma and four patients with undifferentiated sarcoma.All patients experienced tumor recurrence at a median of 52 post-operative days.Only two patients survived and the 5-year survival rate was 29.6%.One patient with angiosarcoma who received central hepatectomy for primary tumor and received radiofrequency ablation for recurrent tumor still lives for 11 years.One patient with undifferentiated sarcoma received Rt.lobectomy for primary tumor followed by chemotherapy and radiation therapy still lives around 30 mo even though she got additional operation for recurrent tumor.Two patients who received living donor liver transplantation due to angiosarcoma died.Only adjuvant therapy was associated with survival gain(P=0.002).CONCLUSION Patients with primary hepatic sarcoma may gain survival benefit with surgical resection followed by adjuvant therapy,even though the outcome remains relatively poor. | Sang Jin Kim Jinsoo Rhu Jong Man Kim Gyu Seung Choi Jae-Won Joh | 2021 | World Journal of Hepatology2021,13,5: | 3 |

| 16 | Significant enhancement of photoresponsive characteristics and mobility of MoS2-based transistors through hybridization with perovskite CsPbBr3 quantum dots显示文摘Inorganic perovskite CsPbBr3 quantum dots (QDs) are potential nanoscale photosensitizers;moreover,two-dimensional (2-D) molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) has been intensively studied for application in the active layers of optoelectronic devices.In this study,heterostructures of 2D-monolayered MoS2 with zero-dimensional functionalized CsPbBr3 QDs were prepared,and their nanoscale optical characteristics were investigated.The effect of n-type doping on the MoS2 monolayer after hybridization with perovskite CsPbBr3 QDs was observed using laser confocal microscope photoluminescenca (PL) and Raman spectra.Field-effect transistors (FETs) using MoS2 and the MoS2-CsPbBr3 QDs hybrid were also fabricated,and their electrical and photoresponsive characteristics were investigated in terms of the charge transfer effect.For the MoS2-CsPbBr3 QDs-based FETs,the field effect mobility and photoresponsivity upon light irradiation were enhanced by ~ 4 times and a dramatic ~ 17 times,respectively,compared to the FET prepared without the parovskite QDs and without light irradiation.It is noteworthy that the photoresponsivity of the MoS-2-CsPbBr3 QDs-based FETs significantly increased with increasing light power,which is completely contrary to the behavior observed in previous studies of MoS2-based FETs.The increased mobility and significant enhancement of the photoresponsivity can be attributed to the n-type doping effect and efficient energy transfer from CsPbBr3 QDs to MoS2.The results indicate that the optoelectronic characteristics of MoS2-based FETs can be significantly improved through hybridization with photosensitive parovskite CsPbBr3 QDs. | Taeho Noh Heung Seob Shin Changwon Seo Jun Young Kim Jongwon Youn Jeongyong Kim Kwang-Sup Lee Jinsoo Joo | 2019 | Nano Research2019,12,2: | 1 |
