| 1 | Ten cities cross-sectional questionnaire survey of children asthma and other allergies in China显示文摘Asthma,rhinitis and eczema(allergic or non-allergic)have increased throughout the world during the last decades,especially among children.Changes in the indoor environment are suspected to be important causes.China has experienced a dramatic change in indoor environmental exposures during the past two decades.However,such changes and their associations with children’s asthma and other health aspects have not been thoroughly studied.China,Children,Homes,Health(CCHH),Phase I,was a cross-sectional questionnaire survey of 48219 children 1–8 years old in 10 Chinese cities during 2010–2012.The questionnaire includes the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood(ISAAC)core health questions and additional questions regarding housing,life habits and outdoor environment.In health analyses,children aged 3–6 years old were included.The prevalences of doctor diagnosed asthma varied from 1.7%to 9.8%(mean 6.8%),a large increase from 0.91%in 1999 and 1.50%in2000.The prevalence of wheeze,rhinitis and atopic eczema(last 12 months)varied from 13.9%to 23.7%,24.0%to 50.8%and4.8%to 15.8%,respectively.Taiyuan had the lowest prevalences of all illnesses and Shanghai the highest,except for wheezewhere the highest value was for Urumqi.We found(1)no obvious association between disease prevalences and ambient PM10concentrations and(2)higher prevalences of disease in humid climates with hot summers and cold winters,but with no centrally heated buildings.Associations between the diseases and economic status as indexed by Gross Domestic Product(GDP)requires further study. | ZHANG YinPing LI BaiZhan HUANG Chen YANG Xu QIAN Hua DENG QiHong ZHAO ZhuoHui LI AnGui ZHAO JiaNing ZHANG Xin QU Fang HU Yu YANG Qin WANG Juan ZHANG Ming WANG Fang ZHENG XiaoHong LU Chan LIU ZhiJian SUN YueXia MO JinHan ZHAO YiLi LIU Wei WANG TingTing NORBCK Dan BORNEHAG Carl-Gustaf SUNDELL Jan | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,34: | 22 |
| 2 | miR-374b-5p suppresses RECK expression and promotes gastric cancer cell invasion and metastasis显示文摘AIM:To profile expression of micro RNAs(mi RNAs)in gastric cancer cells and investigate the effect of mi R-374b-5p on gastric cancer cell invasion and metastasis.METHODS:An mi RNA microarray assay was performed to identify mi RNAs differentially expressed in gastric cancer cell lines(MGC-803 and SGC-7901)compared with a normal gastric epithelial cell line.Upregulation of mi R-374b-5p was newly identified and confirmed via quantitative real-time reverse transcriptionPCR(q RT-PCR).MGC-803 cells were transfected with a synthesized anti-mi R-374b-5p sequence or a control vector using Lipofectamine reagent,or treated with transfection reagent alone or phosphate-buffered saline as controls.Rate of transfection was verified after 48 h by q RT-PCR.Cells were then subjected to transwell migration,wound scratch and cell counting kit-8 assays.A bioinformatic analysis to identify mi R-374b-5p target genes was performed using mi Randa,Pic Tar and Target Scan software.A dual luciferase reporter assay was performed to evaluate the influence of mi R-374b-5p on target gene activation,and q RT-PCR and Western blot were used to evaluate the levels of target m RNA and protein following transfection with mi R-374b-5p antisense oligonucleotides.RESULTS:The microarray profiling revealed downregulation of 14(fold change<0.667;P<0.05)and upregulation of 12(fold change>1.50;P<0.05)mi RNAs in MGC-803 and SGC-7901 cells compared with GES-1 controls.The upregulation of mi R-374b-5p(fold change=1.75 and 1.64 in MGC-803 and SGC-7901,respectively;P<0.05)was confirmed by q RT-PCR.Compared with the control groups,the restoration of mi R-374b-5p expression with anti-mi R-374b-5p significantly suppressed the metastasis,invasion and proliferation of MGC-803 cells.The bioinformatic analysis predicted that the 3’untranslated region(UTR)of reversion-inducing cysteine-rich protein with Kazal motif(RECK)contains three mi R-374b-5p target sequences.RECK was verified as a target gene in a dual luciferase reporter assay showing that activation of RECK 3’UTR-pmir GLO was increased by co-transfection with mi R-374b-5p.Finally,transfection of mi R-374b-5p antisense oligonucleotides increased m RNA and protein levels of RECK in MGC-803cells(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:These findings indicate that upregulation of mi R-374b-5p contributes to gastric cancer cell metastasis and invasion through inhibition of RECK expression. | Juan Xie Zhi-Hui Tan Xia Tang Ming-Shu Mo Yan-Ping Liu Run-Liang Gan Yi Li Li Zhang Guo-Qing Li | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,46: | 15 |

| 7 | Calcium Signaling is Involved in Negative Phototropism of Rice Seminal Roots显示文摘Calcium ions(Ca2+) act as an intracellular second messenger and affect nearly all aspects of cellular life. They are functioned by interacting with polar auxin transport, and the negative phototropism of plant roots is caused by the transport of auxin from the irradiated side to the shaded side of the roots. To clarify the role of calcium signaling in the modulation of rice root negative phototropism, as well as the relationship between polar auxin transport and calcium signaling, calcium signaling reagents were used to treat rice seminal roots which were cultivated in hydroculture and unilaterally illuminated at an intensity of 100–200 μmol/(m2·s) for 24 h. Negative phototropism curvature and growth rate of rice roots were both promoted by exogenous CaCl2 lower than 100 μmol/L, but inhibited by calcium channel blockers(verapamil and LaCl3), calcineurin inhibitor(chlorpromazine, CPZ), and polar auxin transport inhibitor(N-1-naphthylphthalamic acid, NPA). Roots stopped growing and negative phototropism disappeared when the concentrations increased to 100 μmol/L verapamil, 12.500 μmol/L LaCl3, 60 μmol/L CPZ, and 6 μmol/L NPA. Moreover, 100 μmol/L CaCl2 could relieve the inhibition of LaCl3, verapamil and NPA. The enhanced negative phototropism curvature was caused by the transportation of more auxin from the irradiated side to the shaded side in the presence of exogenous Ca2+. | 8 | Effects of Nitrogen Fertilizer Treatments on Caryopsis Filling and Respiratory Rate of Rice显示文摘An experiment was conducted to study the effects of nitrogen (N) rate and application time on grain filling and respiratory trait of caryopsis in two rice varieties, IR36 and Dali. The treatments were consisted of no N application topdressing at both tillering and booting stages (CK), 6 g/pot of N topdressing at the tillering stage and 2 g/pot of N topdressing at the booting stage, 2 g/pot of N topdressing at the tillering stage and 6 g/pot of N topdressing at the booting stage. The results showed that the proper utilization of N fertilizer can be helpful to maintain the higher water content, higher respiratory rate and higher dehydrogenase activity of rice caryopsis in late filling phase, and prolong the course for filling and maintaining higher respiratory rate and dehydrogenase activity of rice caryopsis. | 10 | Ezrin Promotes the Proliferation, Migration, and Invasion of Ovarian Cancer Cells显示文摘Objective The underlying mechanism of Ezrin in ovarian cancer(OVCA) is far from being understood.Therefore, this study aimed to assess the role of Ezrin in OVCA cells(SKOV3 and Ca OV3) and investigate the associated molecular mechanisms.Methods We performed Western blotting, reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction, MTT, cell colony, cell wound healing, transwell migration and invasion, Rho A and Rac active pull down assays, and confocal immunofluorescence experiments to evaluate the functions and molecular mechanisms of Ezrin overexpression or knockdown in the proliferation and metastasis of OVCA cells.Results The ectopic expression of Ezrin significantly increased cell proliferation, invasiveness, and epithelial–mesenchymal transition(EMT) in OVCA cells. By contrast, the knockdown of endogenous Ezrin prevented OVCA cell proliferation, invasiveness, and EMT. Virulence genes of H. pylori can be categorized into three main classes: those related to adhesion and colonization, those related to gastric mucosal injury, and others. | 17 | Land Use Change and Its Impact on Values of Ecosystem Services in the West of Jilin Province显示文摘According to interpreting the LANDSAT TM/ETM images of 1986 and 2002, the spatial-temporal characteristics of land use changes were analyzed during 16 years base on GIS. In addition, the change of ecosystem services due to land use change was estimated by the method of vaulting global ecosystem services. The result shows that there were rapid increases in the area of cropland, saline-alkaline land, and dramatic decreases in grassland, water area and wetland between 1986 and 2002. The annual value of the ecosystem services was declined from 767.1×108 Yuan/a in 1986 to 624.1×108 Yuan/a in 2002, the estimated annual ecosystem service value declined by 18.6% (i.e. 1.6% per year) between 1986 and 2002.
