1Numerical investigation on the “S” characteristics of a reduced pump turbine model显示文摘The performance of a reversible pump turbine with S-shaped characteristics is of great importance to the transition processes such as start-up and load rejection. In order to predict the S-shaped curve accurately and develop a reliable tool for design improvement, a shear stress transport model (SST) with various numerical schemes for pressure term in the governing equation was investigated in a whole pump turbine including spiral casing, stay vanes, guide vanes, runner and draft tube. Through the computation, it was shown that different zones in the curve should employ different schemes to get the solution converged. Comparison of discharge-speed performance showed that good correspondence is got between experimental data and CFD results. Based on this, internal flow analysis was carried out at three typical operating points representing turbine mode, shut-off mode and reversible pump mode, respectively. 2Pre-oxidation with KMnO4 changes extra-cellular organic matter's secretion characteristics to improve algal removal by coagulation with a low dosage of polyaluminium chloride显示文摘Microcystis aeruginosa was used to study the effect of KMnO4 pre-oxidation on algal removal through coagulation with polyaluminium chloride (PAC).KMnO4 pre-oxidation improved the coagulation efficiency of algal at a low dosage of PAC.The optimal KMnO4 feeding period was in the stationary growth phase of Microcystis aeruginosa.KMnO4 traumatized the algal cells and stimulated cellular release of organic matter,contributing to the pool of extra-cellular organic matter (EOM).KMnO4 also decomposed EOM,especially small molecular weight EOM.Lower concentrations of KMnO4,such as 2 mg/L,induced algae cells to produce moderate amounts of new EOM with molecular weights of 11,280,and 1500 kDa.These relatively large molecules combined easily with PAC,promoting coagulation and removal of algae.High concentrations of KMnO4 lysed algae cells and produced much high-molecular-weight EOM that did not enhance flocculation by PAC at lower dosages.Lei Wang Junlian Qiao Yinghui Hu Lei Wang Long Zhang Qiaoli Zhou Naiyun Gao 2013Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,3:10
3Investigation of the unstable flow phenomenon in a pump turbine显示文摘Instability of pump turbine with S-shaped curve is characterized by large fluctuations of rotational speed during the transient processes.For investigating this phenomenon,a numerical model based on the dynamic sliding mesh method(DSSM)is presented and used to numerically solve the 3D transient flow which is characterized by the variable rotation speed of runner.The method is validated by comparison with measured data for a load rejection process in a prototype pump turbine.The results show that the calculated rotation speed agrees well with the experimental data.Based on the validated model,simulations were performed for the runaway process using an artificially assumed operating condition under which the unstable rotation speed is expected to appear.The results confirm that the instability of runner rotational speed can be effectively captured with the proposed method.Presented results include the time history profiles of unit flow rate and unit rotating speed.The internal flow characteristics in a typical unstable period are discussed in detail and the mechanism of the unstable hydraulic phenomenon is explained.Overall,the results suggest that the method presented here can be a viable alternative to predict the dynamic characteristics of pump turbines during transient processes.YIN JunLian WANG DeZhong WALTERS D.Keith WEI XianZhu 2014Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2014,57,6:8
4A pH-and temperature-sensitive macrocyclic graft copolymer composed of PEO ring and multi-poly(2-(dimethylamino) ethyl methacrylate) lateral chains显示文摘A novel method for the synthesis of macrocyclic graft copolymers was developed through combination of anionic ring-opening polymerization (AROP) and atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP).A linear α,ω-dihydroxyl poly(ethylene oxide) with pendant acetal protected hydroxyl groups (l-poly(EO-co-EEGE)) was prepared first by the anionic copolymerization of ethylene oxide (EO) and ethoxyethyl glycidyl ether (EEGE).Then l-poly(EO-co-EEGE) was cyclized.The crude cyclized product containing the linear byproduct was hydrolyzed and purified by being treated with α-CD.The pure cyclic copolymer [c-poly(EO-co-Gly)] was esterified by reaction with 2-bromoisobutyryl bromide,and then used as ATRP macroinitiators to initiate polymerization of 2-(dimethylamino) ethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA),and a series of pH-and temperature-sensitive macrocyclic graft copolymers composed of a hydrophilic PEO as the ring and PDMAEMA as side chains (c-PEO-g-PDMAEMA) were obtained.The behavior of pH-and temperature-sensitive macrocyclic copolymers was studied in aqueous solution by fluorescence and dynamic light scattering (DLS).The critical micellization pH values of macrocyclic graft copolymers and their corresponding linear graft copolymers (l-PEO-g-PDMAEMA) were measured.Under the same conditions,the cyclic graft copolymer with the shorter side chains gave the higher critical micellization pH value.The c-PEO-g-PDMAEMA showed the lower critical micellization pH value than the corresponding l-PEO-g-PDMAEMA.The average hydrodynamic diameters (Dh) of the micelles were measured by DLS with the variation of the aqueous solution pH value and temperature.PANG XinChang,JING RongKuan,PAN MuGang & HUANG JunLian Key Laboratory of Molecular Engineering of Polymers,Ministry of Education Department of Macromolecular Science,Fudan University,Shanghai 200433,China 2010Science China Chemistry2010,53,8:6
5Preparation and application of amino functionalized mesoporous nanofiber membrane via electrospinning for adsorption of Cr^(3+) from aqueous solution显示文摘Novel amino(-NH 2) functionalized mesoporous polyvinyl pyrrolidone(PVP)/SiO 2 composite nanofiber membranes were fabricated by a one-step electrospinning method using poly(vinyl alcohol) and tetraethyl orthosilicate(TEOS) mixed with cationic surfactant,cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide(CTAB) as the structure directing agent.Ureidopropyltriethoxysilane was used for functionalization of the internal pore surfaces.The membranes were characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),high-resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM) images,X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),element analyzer and N 2 adsorption-desorption isotherms.The nanofiber diameters,average pore diameters and surface areas were 100-700 nm,2.86 nm and 873.62 m 2 /g,respectively.These mesoporous membranes functionalized with-NH 2 groups exhibited very high adsorptions properties based on the adsorption of Cr 3+ from an aqueous solution.Equilibrium adsorption was achieved after approximately 20 min and more than 97% of chromium ions in the solution were removed.The membrane could be regenerated through acidification.Ahmed A.Taha Junlian Qiao Fengting Li Bingru Zhang 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,4:6
6Extractant(2,3-dimethylbutyl)(2,4,40-trimethylpentyl) phosphinic acid(INET-3) impregnated onto XAD-16 and its extraction and separation performance for heavy rare earths from chloride media显示文摘(2,3-Dimethylbutyl)(2,4,40-trimethylpentyl)phosphinic acid(INET-3) was impregnated onto dry macroporous resins XAD-16 and pretreated XAD-16 with ethyl alcohol and HCl(Pre-XAD-16) to prepare the solvent impregnated resins SIRs-INET-3/XAD-16 and SIRs-INET-3/Pre-XAD-16. The molecular weight distribution of the low molecular weight(LMW) polymers washed off by ethyl alcohol during XAD-16 pretreatment was determined by gel permeation chromatography(GPC). The macroporous resins(XAD-16 & Pre-XAD-16), the corresponding solvent impregnated resins(SIRs-INET-3/XAD-16 &SIRs-INET-3/Pre-XAD-16) and the PVA coated SIRs-INET-3/Pre-XAD-16 with boric acid as cross-linking agent were characterized by FT-IR, SEM-EDS and TGA. The effects of XAD-16 pretreatment and PVA coating technology on RE(III) adsorption equilibrium time, INET-3 losses during extraction and adsorption capacity were investigated. The adsorption kinetics, selectivity and stripping behaviors of SIRs-INET-3/XAD-16 were further studied. The washed off LMW polymers had the Mn of 36,656, Mw of 40,310 and polydispersity coefficient of 1.10. The SIRs-INET-3/XAD-16 had shorter equilibrium time,less INET-3 loss and more Tm(III) adsorption capacity than the SIRs-INET-3/Pre-XAD-16. The PVA coated SIRs-INET-3/Pre-XAD-16 had less INET-3 loss and more Tm(III) adsorption capacity but longer equilibrium time than the uncoated SIRs-INET-3/Pre-XAD-16. The adsorption of RE(III) on the SIRsINET-3/XAD-16 followed the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The Tm(III) accumulative adsorption amounts onto SIRs-INET-3/XAD-16 after eight extraction stages was 23.6 mg/g. The separation factors of adjacent heavy RE(III) β_(Er/Ho), β_(Tm/Er), β_(Yb/Tm) and β_(Lu/Yb) values were 1.76, 2.59, 2.56 and 1.19,respectively. 7A survey analysis of heavy metals bio-accumulation in internal organs of sea shell animals affected by the sustainable pollution of antifouling paints used for ships anchored at some domestic maritime spaces显示文摘Some samples of sea shell animals stuck and multiplied on the bottom (beneath the seawater) coated with antifouling paints were collected at some domestic maritime spaces, and the content of heavy metals was detected through Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectroscopy. Meanwhile, comparison with sea shell animals was made on market for edible use. It shows that the content of heavy metals in internal organs of these marine animals is very high due to the large amount of copper and zinc con- tained in the antifouling paints, and this also does severely harm to sea environment and ecology. 8Recovery of neodymium,dysprosium,and cobalt from NdFeB magnet leachate using an unsymmetrical dialkylphosphinic acid extractant,INET-3显示文摘Rare earths (REs) and Co are critical strategic resources.Their recovery is crucial for ensuring that their supplies are adequate and for reducing environmental pollution.End-of-life NdFeB magnets are important secondary RE sources.The separation of Dy,Nd,and Co from NdFeB leachate using a relatively new extractant (2,3-dimethylbutyl)(2,4,4’-trimethylpentyl)phosphinic acid (INET-3),was investigated in this study.The separation parameters,such as equilibrium pH,phase ratio,INET-3 concentration,and number of counter-current extraction stages,were optimised.The results show that INET-3 can separate Dy,Nd,and Co efficiently.For the preferential extraction of Dy from synthetic iron-free NdFeB leachate,the optimum equilibrium pH is 2.60.Under this condition,separation of Dy from the leachate requires four counter-current extraction stages at A/O (volume ratio of aqueous to organic)=1:2.This is demonstrated by a simulated four-stage counter-current extraction process.At equilibrium pH=2.52and A/O=1:2,98%of Dy is recovered with 95%purity.As to the subsequent separation of Nd from the leachate,nearly 100%is recovered with 99%purity through a simulated three-stage counter-current extraction process at equilibrium pH=5.33 and A/O=1:1.Approximately 95%of Co remains in the raffinate with 99.98%purity.Zhengyu Liu a Jiaming Wu a Xinyu Liu Wen Wanga Ziwei Li Ruijing Xu Yue Ding Junlian Wang 2020Journal of Rare Earths2020,38,10:3

11Weak magnetic field accelerates chromate removal by zero-valent iron显示文摘Weak magnetic field(WMF) was employed to improve the removal of Cr(VI) by zero-valent iron(ZVI) for the first time. The removal rate of Cr(VI) was elevated by a factor of 1.12–5.89 due to the application of a WMF, and the WMF-induced improvement was more remarkable at higher Cr(VI) concentration and higher p H. Fe2+was not detected until Cr(VI) was exhausted, and there was a positive correlation between the WMF-induced promotion factor of Cr(VI) removal rate and that of Fe2+release rate in the absence of Cr(VI) at pH 4.0–5.5. These phenomena imply that ZVI corrosion with Fe2+release was the limiting step in the process of Cr(VI) removal. The superimposed WMF had negligible influence on the apparent activation energy of Cr(VI) removal by ZVI, indicating that WMF accelerated Cr(VI)removal by ZVI but did not change the mechanism. The passive layer formed with WMF was much more porous than without WMF, thereby facilitating mass transport. Therefore,WMF could accelerate ZVI corrosion and alleviate the detrimental effects of the passive layer, resulting in more rapid removal of Cr(VI) by ZVI. 13Review on Applications of 3D Inverse Design Method for Pump显示文摘The 3D inverse design method,which methodology is far superior to the conventional design method that based on geometrical description,is gradually applied in pump blade design.However,no complete description about the method is outlined.Also,there are no general rules available to set the two important input parameters,blade loading distribution and stacking condition.In this sense,the basic theory and the mechanism why the design method can suppress the formation of secondary flow are summarized.And also,several typical pump design cases with different specific speeds ranging from centrifugal pump to axial pump are surveyed.The results indicates that,for centrifugal pump and mixed pump or turbine,the ratio of blade loading on the hub to that on the shroud is more than unit in the fore part of the blade,whereas in the aft part,the ratio is decreased to satisfy the same wrap angle for hub and shroud.And the choice of blade loading type depends on the balancing of efficiency and cavitation.If the cavitation is more weighted,the better choice is aft-loaded,otherwise,the fore-loaded or mid-loaded is preferable to improve the efficiency.The stacking condition,which is an auxiliary to suppress the secondary flow,can have great effect on the jet-wake outflow and the operation range for pump.Ultimately,how to link the design method to modern optimization techniques is illustrated.With the know-how design methodology and the know-how systematic optimization approach,the application of optimization design is promising for engineering.This paper summarizes the 3D inverse design method systematically.YIN Junlian WANG Dezhong 2014Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2014,27,3:1
