| 1 | Data-Driven Approaches for Spatio-Temporal Analysis:A Survey of the State-of-the-Arts显示文摘With the advancement of telecommunications,sensor networks,crowd sourcing,and remote sensing technology in present days,there has been a tremendous growth in the volume of data having both spatial and temporal references.This huge volume of available spatio-temporal(ST)data along with the recent development of machine learning and computational intelligence techniques has incited the current research concerns in developing various data-driven models for extracting useful and interesting patterns,relationships,and knowledge embedded in such large ST datasets.In this survey,we provide a structured and systematic overview of the research on data-driven approaches for spatio-temporal data analysis.The focus is on outlining various state-of-the-art spatio-temporal data mining techniques,and their applications in various domains.We start with a brief overview of spatio-temporal data and various challenges in analyzing such data,and conclude by listing the current trends and future scopes of research in this multi-disciplinary area.Compared with other relevant surveys,this paper provides a comprehensive coverage of the techniques from both computational/methodological and application perspectives.We anticipate that the present survey will help in better understanding various directions in which research has been conducted to explore data-driven modeling for analyzing spatio-temporal data. | Monidipa Das Soumya K.Ghosh | 2020 | Journal of Computer Science & Technology2020,35,3: | 2 |
| 2 | Facies analysis and paleoenvironmental interpretation of Piacenzian carbonate deposits from the Guitar Formation of Car Nicobar Island,India显示文摘Facies characterization of Piacenzian(late Pliocene) carbonate sediments of the Guitar Formation in Car Nicobar Island, India and the subsequent integration of paleoecological data have been applied to interpret the paleoenvironment of the coralline algal-reef deposits. Thin-section analysis reveals that Amphiroa, Corallina and Jania are the dominant geniculate corallines, while Lithothamnion, Mesophyllum, Phymatolithon, Lithophyllum, Spongites and Lithoporella are the major non-geniculate corallines contributing to the sedimentary facies. Numerous small and larger benthic foraminifera also dominate the biogenic assemblages. Corals, barnacle shells, echinoid spines, fragments of bryozoans, mollusks and ostracodes are the subordinate constituents. Grainstones dominate the studied facies while packstones and boundstones(with wackestone elements) are the sub-lithofacies showing a fair representation. Six carbonate facies presenting a complete reef complex have been distinguished that were deposited in shallow intertidal, back-reef shelf/lagoon, reef and deeper fore-reef shelf settings. Evidences of coralline algal and benthic foraminiferal assemblages, taphonomic signatures of abrasion and fragmentation, grain size, angularity and encrustation indicate a shallow to relatively deeper bathymetric horizon of approximately 10-60 m that corresponds to a regime of high to moderate hydrodynamic conditions. | Amit K.Ghosh Suman Sarkar | 2013 | Geoscience Frontiers2013,4,6: | 2 |

| 9 | Comparative efficacy of a phytogenic feed additive and an antibiotic growth promoter on production performance, caecal microbial population and humoral immune response of broiler chickens inoculated with enteric pathogens显示文摘The aim of this work was to compare the efficacy of a commercially available phytogenic feed additive(PFA) and an antibiotic growth promoter, which was bacitracin methylene disalicylate(BMD), on performance, nutrient retention, caecal colonization of bacteria and humoral immune responses against Newcastle disease in broiler chickens challenged orally with Salmonella enteritidis and Escherichia coli.One-day-old male Cobb 400 broiler chicks(n = 120) were fed with 1) a negative control(NC) diet, which is the basal diet without any added growth promoter, 2) a positive control(PC) diet, the basal diet supplemented with BMD, 500 mg/kg and 3) a diet supplemented with PFA(150 mg/kg) for 39 days and the birds were inoculated with S. enteritidis and E. coli on d 28. Supplementation of PFA improved body weight, feed conversion ratio, retention of N and crude fiber, increased fecal moisture content and decreased digesta transit time as compared with the NC and PC groups(P <0.01). Both the PC and the PFA was found to be equally effective in controlling the surge in numbers of Salmonella and E. coli following oral inoculation of these bacteria as compared with the NC group(P <0.05) at 24 h past inoculation. Caecal content analysis on d 39 indicated lower numbers of Salmonella, E. coli and Clostridium in the PC and PFA groups as compared with the NC group(P <0.05). The number of Lactobacillus in the PFA group was higher than those in the NC and PC groups(P <0.05). Humoral immune response,measured as hemagglutination inhibition titer against Newcastle disease, was better in the PC and PFA groups compared with the NC group(P <0.05) at d 21 but the difference did not last till d 39. The heterophil to lymphocyte ratio was narrower(P <0.001) and alkaline phosphatase activity was higher(P <0.01) in the PFA group as compared with the NC and PC groups on d 39. | 13 | Minimum energy optimal external torque control of human binocular vision显示文摘In this paper,we consider eyes from the human binocular system,that simultaneously gaze on stationary point targets in space,while optimalal skipping from one target to the next,by rotaing their individual gaze drecton.The head is assume fixed on the torso and the rotaing gaze direction of the two eyes are assumed restricted to pass through a point in the visual space.It is further assumed that,individullly the rotations of the two eyes satisfy the well known Listing's law.We formulate and study acombined optimal gaze rotation for the two eyes,by constructing a single Riemanmian metric,on the asociaced parameter space.The goal is to optimally rotate so that the convergent gaze changes between two pre-specified target points in a finite time interval[0,1].The cost function we choose is the total energy,measured by the L2?norm,of the six extenal torques on the binocular system.The torque functions are synthesized by solving an associated*two-point boundary value problem.The paper demonstrates,via simulation,the shape of the optimal gaze trajectory of the focused point of the bin-ocular system.The Euclidean distance between the initial and the final point is compared to the arc:length of the optimal trajectory.The consumed energy.is computed for diferent eye movement chores and discussed in the paper.Via simulation we observe that certain eye movement maneuvers are energy fficicnt and demonstrate that the optimal external torque is a linear function in time.We also explore and conclude that spitting an arbitry opimal eye movement into optimal vergence and version components is not energy fficient although this is how the human oculomotor control seems to operate.Opimal gaze tajectories and opimal extermal torque functions reported in this paper is new. | Bijoy K.Ghosh Bhagya Athukorallage | 2020 | Control Theory and Technology2020,18,4: | 0 |
| 14 | Non-Gaussian normal diffusion in low dimensional systems显示文摘Brownian particles suspended in disordered crowded environments often exhibit non-Gaussian normal diffusion(NGND),whereby their displacements grow with mean square proportional to the observation time and non-Gaussian statistics.Their distributions appear to decay almost exponentially according to“universal”laws largely insensitive to the observation time.This effect is generically attributed to slow environmental fluctuations,which perturb the local configuration of the suspension medium.To investigate the microscopic mechanisms responsible for the NGND phenomenon,we study Brownian diffusion in low dimensional systems,like the free diffusion of ellipsoidal and active particles,the diffusion of colloidal particles in fluctuating corrugated channels and Brownian motion in arrays of planar convective rolls.NGND appears to be a transient effect related to the time modulation of the instantaneous particle’s diffusivity,which can occur even under equilibrium conditions.Consequently,we propose to generalize the definition of NGND to include transient displacement distributions which vary continuously with the observation time.To this purpose,we provide a heuristic one-parameter function,which fits all time-dependent transient displacement distributions corresponding to the same diffusion constant.Moreover,we reveal the existence of low dimensional systems where the NGND distributions are not leptokurtic(fat exponential tails),as often reported in the literature,but platykurtic(thin sub-Gaussian tails),i.e.,with negative excess kurtosis.The actual nature of the NGND transients is related to the specific microscopic dynamics of the diffusing particle. | Qingqing Yin Yunyun Li Fabio Marchesoni Subhadip Nayak Pulak K.Ghosh | 2021 | Frontiers of physics2021,16,3: | 0 |
| 15 | Chaperone-assisted E3 ligase CHIP:A double agent in cancer显示文摘The carboxy-terminus of Hsp70-interacting protein(CHIP)is a ubiquitin ligase and co-chaperone belonging to Ubox family that plays a crucial role in the maintenance of cellular homeostasis by switching the equilibrium of the folding-refolding mechanism towards the proteasomal or lysosomal degradation pathway.It links molecular chaperones viz.HSC70,HSP70 and HSP90 with ubiquitin proteasome system(UPS),acting as a quality control system.CHIP contains charged domain in between N-terminal tetratricopeptide repeat(TPR)and C-terminal Ubox domain.TPR domain interacts with the aberrant client proteins via chaperones while Ubox domain facilitates the ubiquitin transfer to the client proteins for ubiquitination.Thus,CHIP is a classic molecule that executes ubiquitination for degradation of client proteins.Further,CHIP has been found to be indulged in cellular differentiation,proliferation,metastasis and tumorigenesis.Additionally,CHIP can play its dual role as a tumor suppressor as well as an oncogene in numerous malignancies,thus acting as a double agent.Here,in this review,we have reported almost all substrates of CHIP established till date and classified them according to the hallmarks of cancer.In addition,we discussed about its architectural alignment,tissue specific expression,sub-cellular localization,folding-refolding mechanisms of client proteins,E4 ligase activity,normal physiological roles,as well as involvement in various diseases and tumor biology.Further,we aim to discuss its importance in HSP90 inhibitors mediated cancer therapy.Thus,this report concludes that CHIP may be a promising and worthy drug target towards pharmaceutical industry for drug development. | Sunny Kumar Malini Basu Mrinal K.Ghosh | 2022 | Genes & Diseases2022,9,6: | 0 |
| 16 | The interrelationship between cerebral ischemic stroke and glioma: a comprehensive study of recent reports显示文摘Glioma and cerebral ischemic stroke are two major events that lead to patient death worldwide.Although these conditions have different physiological incidences,~10%of ischemic stroke patients develop cerebral cancer,especially glioma,in the postischemic stages.Additionally,the high proliferation,venous thrombosis and hypercoagulability of the glioma mass increase the significant risk of thromboembolism,including ischemic stroke.Surprisingly,these events share several common pathways,viz.hypoxia,cerebral inflammation,angiogenesis,etc.,but the proper mechanism behind this co-occurrence has yet to be discovered.The hypercoagulability and presence of the D-dimer level in stroke are different in cancer patients than in the noncancerous population.Other factors such as atherosclerosis and coagulopathy involved in the pathogenesis of stroke are partially responsible for cancer,and the reverse is also partially true.Based on clinical and neurosurgical experience,the neuronal structures and functions in the brain and spine are observed to change after a progressive attack of ischemia that leads to hypoxia and atrophy.The major population of cancer cells cannot survive in an adverse ischemic environment that excludes cancer stem cells(CSCs).Cancer cells in stroke patients have already metastasized,but early-stage cancer patients also suffer stroke for multiple reasons.Therefore,stroke is an early manifestation of cancer.Stroke and cancer share many factors that result in an increased risk of stroke in cancer patients,and vice-versa.The intricate mechanisms for stroke with and without cancer are different.This review summarizes the current clinical reports,pathophysiology,probable causes of co-occurrence,prognoses,and treatment possibilities. | Mrinal K.Ghosh Dipankar Chakraborty Sibani Sarkar Arijit Bhowmik Malini Basu | 2019 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2019,4,1: | 0 |
