1Evaluation of Surface Relative Humidity in China from the CRA-40 and Current Reanalyses显示文摘Recently,the China Meteorological Administration(CMA)released a new Global Atmospheric Reanalysis(CRA-40)dataset for the period 1979−2018.In this study,surface relative humidity(RH)from CRA-40 and other current reanalyses(e.g.,CFSR,ERA5,ERA-Interim,JRA-55,and MERRA-2)is comprehensively evaluated against homogenized observations over China.The results suggest that most reanalyses overestimate the observations by 15%−30%(absolute difference)over the Tibetan Plateau but underestimate the observations by 5%−10%over most of northern China.The CRA-40 performs relatively well in describing the long-term change and variance seen in the observed surface RH over China.Most of the reanalyses reproduce the observed surface RH climatology and interannual variations well,while few reanalyses can capture the observed long-term RH trends over China.Among these reanalyses,the CFSR does poorly in describing the interannual changes in the observed RH,especially in Southwest China.An empirical orthogonal function(EOF)analysis also suggests that the CRA-40 performs better than other reanalyses to capture the first two leading EOF modes revealed by the observations.The results of this study are expected to improve understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the current reanalysis products and thus facilitate their application.Jingpeng ZHANG Tianbao ZHAO Zhi LI Chunxiang LI Zhen LI Kairan YING Chunxiang SHI Lipeng JIANG Wenyu ZHANG 2021Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2021,38,11:4
2Drug-eluting intraocular lens with sustained bromfenac release for conquering posterior capsular opacification显示文摘Cataract is the leading cause of visual impairment,and posterior capsular opacification(PCO)is the most common long-term complication of modern cataract surgery,which can cause severe visual impairment after surgery.The proliferation,migration,and epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT)of residual lens epithelial cells(LECs)stimulated by growth factors and cytokines,are the key pathological mechanisms involved in the development of PCO.This study demonstrated that non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug(NSAID),bromfenac,was capable of effectively inhibiting cell migration,overexpression of EMT markers,such as fibronectin(FN),matrix metalloproteinase 2(MMP2),α-smooth muscle actin(α-SMA),and transcription factor Snail,and extracellular signal-regulated kinase(ERK)/glycogen synthase kinase-3β(GSK-3β)signaling induced by transforming growth factor-β2(TGF-β2)in vitro.The inhibitory effect of bromfenac on TGF-β2-induced EMT was also verified on a primary lens epithelial cell model using human anterior capsules.Furthermore,based on ultrasonic spray technology,we developed a drug-eluting intraocular lens(IOL)using poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)(PLGA)with sustained bromfenac release ability for the prevention of PCO development.In the rabbit models of cataract surgery,bromfenac-eluting IOL exhibited remarkable PCO prevention and inflammation suppression effects with excellent biocompatibility.In conclusion,bromfenac can inhibit TGF-β2-induced cell migration and the EMT of LECs via ERK/GSK-3β/Snail signaling.The present study offers a novel approach for preventing PCO through PLGA-based drug sustained-release IOLs.Xiaobo Zhang Kairan Lai Su Li Jing Wang Jiayong Li Wei Wang Shuang Ni Bing Lu Andrzej Grzybowski Jian Ji Haijie Han Ke Yao 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,3:2

11Ocean-atmosphere Teleconnections Play a Key Role in the Interannual Variability of Seasonal Gross Primary Production in China显示文摘Since the 1950s,the terrestrial carbon uptake has been characterized by interannual variations,which are mainly determined by interannual variations in gross primary production(GPP).Using an ensemble of seven-member TRENDY(Trends in Net Land-Atmosphere Carbon Exchanges)simulations during 1951-2010,the relationships of the interannual variability of seasonal GPP in China with the sea surface temperature(SST)and atmospheric circulations were investigated.The GPP signals that mostly relate to the climate forcing in terms of Residual Principal Component analysis(hereafter,R-PC)were identified by separating out the significant impact from the linear trend and the GPP memory.Results showed that the seasonal GPP over China associated with the first R-PC1(the second R-PC2)during spring to autumn show a monopole(dipole or tripole)spatial structure,with a clear seasonal evolution for their maximum centers from springtime to summertime.The dominant two GPP R-PC are significantly related to Sea Surface Temperature(SST)variability in the eastern tropical Pacific Ocean and the North Pacific Ocean during spring to autumn,implying influences from the El Niño-Southern Oscillation(ENSO)and the Pacific Decadal Oscillation(PDO).The identified SST and circulation factors explain 13%,23%and 19%of the total variance for seasonal GPP in spring,summer and autumn,respectively.A clearer understanding of the relationships of China’s GPP with ocean-atmosphere teleconnections over the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean should provide scientific support for achieving carbon neutrality targets.Kairan YING Jing PENG Li DAN Xiaogu ZHENG 2022Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2022,39,8:0
