1Clinicopathological and prognostic analysis of 429 patients with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma显示文摘AIM:To understand the clinicopathological characteristics and treatment selections and improve survival and provide valuable information for patients with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma(ICC). METHODS:We retrospectively evaluated 5311 liver cancer patients who received resection between October 1999 and December 2003.Of these,429(8.1%)patients were diagnosed with ICC,and their clinicopathological, surgical,and survival characteristics were analyzed. RESULTS:Upper abdominal discomfort or pain(65.0%), no symptoms(12.1%),and hypodynamia(8.2%)were the major causes for medical attention.Laboratory tests showed 198(46.4%)patients were HBsAg positive, 90(21.3%)hadα-fetoprotein>20μg/L,50(11.9%) carcinoembryonic antigen>10μg/L,and 242(57.5%) carbohydrate antigen 19-9(CA19-9)>37 U/mL.Survival data was available for 329(76.7%)patients and their mean survival time was 12.4 mo.The overall survival of the patients with R0,R1 resection and punching exploration were 18.3,6.6 and 5.6 mo,respectively. Additionally,CA19-9>37 U/mL was associated with lymph node metastases,but inversely associated withcirrhosis.Multivariate analysis indicated that radical resection,lymph node metastases,macroscopic tumor thrombi and size,and CA19-9 were associated with prognosis. 2Risk factors for early recurrence of small hepatocellular carcinoma after curative resection显示文摘BACKGROUND:Poorer prognosis is seen in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after curative hepatic resection with early recurrence (≤1 year) than in those with late recurrence (>1 year).This study aimed to identify risk factors for postoperative early recurrence of small HCC (≤3 cm in diameter).METHODS:The study population consisted of 158 patients who underwent curative resection for small HCC between January 2002 and July 2004.Risk factors for early recurrence were analyzed.RESULTS:Thirty-three (20.8%) patients developed early recurrence after surgery.Univariate analysis showed the following significant risk factors for early recurrence in small HCC:serum alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) level >100 ng/ml,lack of tumor capsule formation,microscopic vascular invasion,high Edmonson-Steiner grades,and cytokeratin-19 (CK-19) expression (P<0.05).Multivariate stepwise logistic regression analysis showed that serum AFP level >100 ng/ml (odds ratio 2.561,95% confidence interval 1.057 to 6.206,P=0.037) and microscopic vascular invasion (odds ratio 4.549,95% confidence interval 1.865 to 11.097,P=0.001) were independent factors.CONCLUSIONS:Postoperative early recurrence is related to serum AFP level >100 ng/ml and microscopic vascular invasion in patients with small HCC.Adjuvant therapy and careful follow-up are required for patients with these risk factors.Zhou, Yan-Ming Yang, Jia-Mei Li, Bin Yin, Zheng-Feng Xu, Feng Wang, Bin Xu, Wen Kan, Tong 2010Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2010,9,1:24
3Identification of coastal wetlands of international importance for waterbirds:a review of China Coastal Waterbird Surveys 2005–2013显示文摘Background:China's coastal wetlands belong to some of the most threatened ecosystems worldwide.The loss and degradation of these wetlands seriously threaten waterbirds that depend on wetlands.Methods:The China Coastal Waterbird Census was organized by volunteer birdwatchers in China's coastal region.Waterbirds were surveyed synchronously once every month at 14 sites,as well as irregularly at a further 18 sites,between September 2005 and December 2013.Results:A total of 75 species of waterbirds met the 1 % population level Ramsar listing criterion at least once at one site.The number of birds of the following species accounted for over 20 % of the total flyway populations at a single site:Mute Swan(Cygnus olor),Siberia Crane(Grus leucogeranus),Far Eastern Oystercatcher(Haematopus osculans),Bar-tailed Godwit(Limosa lapponica),Spotted Greenshank(Tringa guttifer),Great Knot(Calidris tenuirostris),Spoon-billed Sandpiper(Calidris pygmeus),Saunders' s Gull(Larus saundersi),Relict Gull(Larus relictus),Great Cormorant(Phalacrocorax carbo),Eurasian Spoonbill(Platalea leucorodia),Black-faced Spoonbill(Platalea minor) and Dalmatian Pelican(Pelecanus crispus).A total of 26 sites supported at least one species of which their number met the1 % criterion.Forty-two species met the 1 % criterion in the Yellow River Delta,Shandong;29 at the Cangzhou coast,Hebei and 26 species at the Lianyungang coast,Jiangsu.Conclusions:The results highlight the international importance of China's coastal wetlands for waterbirds.This study also demonstrates that participation of local birdwatchers in waterbird surveys results in data that are invaluable not only for understanding the current status of waterbirds in China's coastal regions but also for waterbird conservation and management.Qingquan Bai Jianzhong Chen Zhihong Chen Guotai Dong Jiangtian Dong Wenxiao Dong Vivian Wing Kan Fu Yongxiang Han Gang Lu Jing Li Yang Liu Zhi Lin Derong Meng Jonathan Martinez Guanghui Ni Kai Shan Renjie Sun Suixing Tian Fengqin Wang Zhiwei Xu Yat-tung Yu Jin Yang Zhidong Yang Lin Zhang Ming Zhang Xiangwu Zeng 2015Chinese Birds2015,,3:20
4Bayesian Reliability Modeling and Assessment Solution for NC Machine Tools under Small-sample Data显示文摘Although Markov chain Monte Carlo(MCMC) algorithms are accurate, many factors may cause instability when they are utilized in reliability analysis; such instability makes these algorithms unsuitable for widespread engineering applications. Thus, a reliability modeling and assessment solution aimed at small-sample data of numerical control(NC) machine tools is proposed on the basis of Bayes theories. An expert-judgment process of fusing multi-source prior information is developed to obtain the Weibull parameters' prior distributions and reduce the subjective bias of usual expert-judgment methods. The grid approximation method is applied to two-parameter Weibull distribution to derive the formulas for the parameters' posterior distributions and solve the calculation difficulty of high-dimensional integration. The method is then applied to the real data of a type of NC machine tool to implement a reliability assessment and obtain the mean time between failures(MTBF). The relative error of the proposed method is 5.8020×10-4 compared with the MTBF obtained by the MCMC algorithm. This result indicates that the proposed method is as accurate as MCMC. 5Prognostic factors in the surgical treatment of caudate lobe hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the short-and long-term outcomes of liver resection for caudate lobe hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).METHODS:We retrospectively analyzed 114 consecutive patients with HCC,originating from the caudate lobe,who underwent resection between January 2001 and January 2007.Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed on several clinicopathologic variables to determine the factors affecting long-term outcome and intrahepatic recurrence.RESULTS:Overall mortality and morbidity were 0% and 18%,respectively.After a median follow-up of 31 mo (interquartile range,11-66 mo),tumor recurrence had occurred in 76 patients (66.7%).The 1-,3-,and 5-year disease-free survival rates were 65.7%,38.1%,and 18.4%,respectively.The 1-,3-,and 5-year overall survival rates were 76.1%,54.7%,and 31.8%,respectively.Univariate analysis showed that subsegmental location of the tumor (45.7% vs 16.2%,P=0.01),liver cirrhosis (12.3% vs 47.9%,P=0.03),surgical margin (18.5% vs 54.6%,P=0.04),vascular invasion (37.9% vs 23.2%,P=0.04) and extended caudate resection (42.1% vs 15.4%,P=0.04) were related to poorer long-term survival.Multivariate analysis showed that only subsegmental location of the tumor,liver cirrhosis and surgical margin were significant independent prognostic factors.CONCLUSION:Hepatectomy was an effective treatment for HCC in the caudate lobe.The subsegmental location of the tumor,liver cirrhosis and surgical margin affected long-term survival.Peng Liu,Jia-Mei Yang,Wen-Yang Niu,Tong Kan,Feng Xie,Dian-Qi Li,Ye Wang,Yan-Ming Zhou,Department of Special Treatment and Liver Transplantation,Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital,Second Military Medical University,Shanghai 200438,China Peng Liu,Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery,Navy General Hospital,Beijing 100037,China 2010World Journal of Gastroenterology2010,16,9:15

7Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Al_2O_3/ZrO_2 Directionally Solidified Eutectic Ceramic Prepared by Laser 3D Printing显示文摘Directionally solidified eutectic ceramics such as(Al)_2O_3/ZrO_2 are promising structural materials for applications in harsh environment with an ultrahigh temperature. In this work, through adopting assistant heating laser 3D printing,(Al)_2O_3/ZrO_2eutectic samples were manufactured with suppressing the formation of cracks. The dependence of the average rod spacing(λav) on the scanning rate(V) follows a relation with λav V0.5= 1 μm1.5s–0.5. Typical eutectic microstructures, so-called complex regular, were analyzed with respect to its evolution with modulating the growth conditions. Formation mechanism of the solidification defect, shrinkage porosity, was discussed and the defect is found to be significantly suppressed by optimizing the solidification parameters. The maximum hardness and fracture toughness are measured to be 16.7 GPa and 4.5 MPa m1/2, respectively. 8Acupuncture accelerates neural regeneration and synaptophysin production after neural stem cells transplantation in mice显示文摘BACKGROUND Synaptophysin plays a key role in synaptic development and plasticity of neurons and is closely related to the cognitive process of Alzheimer’s disease(AD)patients.Exogenous neural stem cells(NSCs)improve the damaged nerve function.The effects of Sanjiao acupuncture on cognitive impairment may be related to the regulation of the NSC microenvironment.AIM To explore the anti-dementia mechanism of acupuncture by regulating the NSC microenvironment.METHODS NSCs were isolated from pregnant senescence-accelerated mouse resistant 1(SAMR1)mice,labeled with BrdU,and injected into the hippocampus of senescence-accelerated mouse prone 8(SAMP8)mice.Eight-month-old senescence-accelerated mice(SAM)were randomly divided into six groups:SAMR1(RC),SAMP8(PC),sham transplantation(PS),NSC transplantation(PT),NSC transplantation with acupuncture(PTA),and NSC transplantation with nonacupoint acupuncture(PTN).Morris water maze test was used to study the learning and memory ability of mice after NSC transplantation.Hematoxylin-eosin staining and immunofluorescence were used to observe the histopathological changes and NSC proliferation in mice.A co-culture model of hippocampal slices and NSCs was established in vitro,and the synaptophysin expression in the hippocampal microenvironment of mice was observed by flow cytometry after acupuncture treatment.RESULTS Morris water maze test showed significant cognitive impairment of learning and memory in 8-mo-old SAMP8,which improved in all the NSC transplantation groups.The behavioral change in the PTA group was stronger than those in the other two groups(P<0.05).Histopathologically,the hippocampal structure was clear,the cell arrangement was dense and orderly,and the necrosis of cells in CA1 and CA3 areas was significantly reduced in the PTA group when compared with the PC group.The BrdU-positive proliferating cells were found in NSC hippocampal transplantation groups,and the number increased significantly in the PTA group than in the PT and PTN groups(P<0.05).Flow cytometry showed that after co-culture of NSCs with hippocampal slices in vitro,the synaptophysin expression in the PC group decreased in comparison to the RC group,that in PT,PTA,and PTN groups increased as compared to the PC group,and that in the PTA group increased significantly as compared to the PTN group with acupointrelated specificity(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Acupuncture may promote nerve regeneration and synaptogenesis in SAMP8 mice by regulating the microenvironment of NSC transplantation to improve the nerve activity and promote the recovery of AD-damaged cells.Lan Zhao Jian-Wei Liu Bo-Hong Kan Hui-Yan Shi Lin-Po Yang Xin-Yu Liu 2020World Journal of Stem Cells2020,12,12:12
9MATLAB-Based Simulation of Buoyancy-Driven Underwater Glider Motion显示文摘The mass configuration of the buoyancy-driven underwater glider is decomposed and defined. The coupling between the glider body and its internal masses is addressed using the energy law. A glider motion model is established, and the corresponding simulation program is derived using MATLAB. The characteristics of the glider motion are explored using this program. The simula- tion results show that the basic characteristic of a buoyancy-driven underwater glider is the periodic alternation of downward and upward motions. The glider's spiral motion can be applied to missions in restricted regions. The glider's horizontal velocity, gliding depth and its motion radius in spiral motion can be changed to meet different application purposes by using different glider parameter designs. 11MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING CHARACTERISTICS AND SURGICAL RESULTS OF ADRENOCORTICOTROPIN-SECRETING PITUITARY ADENOMAS显示文摘Objective To evaluate magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)characteristics and surgical results of adrenocorticotropin(ACTH)-secreting pituitary adenomas.Methods MRI characteristics and relationship between MRI positive rate and surgical results of 266 patients with pathologically confirmed Cushing's disease were analyzed retrospectively.All patients underwent thin-section sagittal and coronal scans of the pituitary gland before and after administration of gadolinium-diethylene triamine pentaacetic acid(Gd-DTPA)on a 1.5 Tesla MRI scanner,and dynamic enhanced MRI was performed in 39 patients.All patients underwent transsphenoidal adenomectomy.Endocrinological examinations and assessments were performed.Results Preoperative MRI revealed normal results in 41(15.4%)cases,microadenoma in 179(67.3%),macroadenoma in 42(15.8%),and huge adenoma in 4(1.5%).Pituitary apoplexy was found in 13(4.9%)cases.Positive rate of ACTH-secreting adenomas was 84.6%(225/266)on MRI scans,and that of small microadenomas was 87.2%(34/39)on dynamic enhanced MRI scans.Preoperative endocrinological tests of 199 cases supported the diagnosis of typical Cushing's disease,while the other 67 cases had atypical endocrinological results.The endocrinological cure rate,remission rate,and inefficacy rate were 85.7%,7.9%,and 6.4%,respectively.There was no difference in the initial endocrinological cure rate between the patients with positive and normal MRI results(90% vs.87.8%,P=0.904).Conclusions Enhanced coronal pituitary MRI is helpful for preoperative localization of ACTH-secreting pituitary microadenoma.Dynamic enhanced MRI may improve detection rate of microadenoma.There is no marked difference in the surgical results for patients with preoperative MRI results indicating presence or absence of microadenoma.Bing Xing Kan Deng Zu-yuan Ren Chang-bao Su Ren-zhi Wang Yi Yang Wen-bin Ma Yong-ning Li 2008Chinese Medical Sciences Journal2008,23,1:9
12Meta-analysis of the efficacy of probiotics in Helicobacter pylori eradication therapy显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the role of probiotics in the standard triple Helicobacter pylori therapy.METHODS:In this meta-analysis,we investigated the efficacy of probiotics in a standard triple H.pylori therapy in adults.Searches were mainly conducted in MEDLINE/Pub Med,EMBASE,and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials.Fourteen studies met our criteria,and the quality of these studies was assessedusing the Jadad scale.We used STATA version 12.0to extract data and to calculate the odds ratios(ORs),which are presented with the corresponding 95%confidence intervals(CIs).The data are presented as forest plots.RESULTS:The pooled ORs for the eradication rates calculated by intention-to-treat analysis and perprotocol analysis in the probiotic group vs the control group were 1.67(95%CI:1.38-2.02)and 1.68(95%CI:1.35-2.08),respectively,using the fixed-effects model.The sensitivity of the Asian studies was greater than that of the Caucasian studies(Asian:OR=1.78,95%CI:1.40-2.26;Caucasian:OR=1.48,95%CI:1.06-2.05).The pooled OR for the incidence of total adverse effects was significantly lower in the probiotic group(OR=0.49,95%CI:0.26-0.94),using the random effects model,with significant heterogeneity(I2=85.7%).The incidence of diarrhea was significantly reduced in the probiotic group(OR=0.21,95%CI:0.06-0.74),whereas the incidence of taste disorders,metallic taste,vomiting,nausea,and epigastric pain did not differ significantly between the probiotic group and the control group.CONCLUSION:Supplementary probiotic preparations during standard triple H.pylori therapy may improve the eradication rate,particularly in Asian patients,and the incidence of total adverse effects.Rong Zhu Kan Chen Yuan-Yuan Zheng Hua-Wei Zhang Jun-Shan Wang Yu-Jing Xia Wei-Qi Dai Fan Wang Miao Shen Ping Cheng Yan Zhang Cheng-Fen Wang Jing Yang Jing-Jing Li Jie Lu Ying-Qun Zhou Chuan-Yong Guo 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,47:9

14The USDA cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) collection: genetic diversity, population structure, genome-wide association studies, and core collection development显示文摘Germplasm collections are a crucial resource to conserve natural genetic diversity and provide a source of novel traits essential for sustained crop improvement.Optimal collection,preservation and utilization of these materials depends upon knowledge of the genetic variation present within the collection.Here we use the high-throughput genotyping-by-sequencing(GBS)technology to characterize the United States National Plant Germplasm System(NPGS)collection of cucumber(Cucumis sativus L.).The GBS data,derived from 1234 cucumber accessions,provided more than 23 K high-quality single-nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)that are well distributed at high density in the genome(~1 SNP/10.6 kb).The SNP markers were used to characterize genetic diversity,population structure,phylogenetic relationships,linkage disequilibrium,and population differentiation of the NPGS cucumber collection.These results,providing detailed genetic analysis of the U.S.cucumber collection,complement NPGS descriptive information regarding geographic origin and phenotypic characterization.We also identified genome regions significantly associated with 13 horticulturally important traits through genome-wide association studies(GWAS).Finally,we developed a molecularly informed,publicly accessible core collection of 395 accessions that represents at least 96%of the genetic variation present in the NPGS.Collectively,the information obtained from the GBS data enabled deep insight into the diversity present and genetic relationships among accessions within the collection,and will provide a valuable resource for genetic analyses,gene discovery,crop improvement,and germplasm preservation.Xin Wang Kan Bao Umesh K.Reddy Yang Bai Sue A.Hammar Chen Jiao Todd C.Wehner Axel O.Ramírez-Madera Yiqun Weng Rebecca Grumet Zhangjun Fei 2018Horticulture Research2018,5,1:7

17External fixation is more suitable for intra-articular fractures of the distal radius in elderly patients显示文摘The purpose of this study was to compare the functional outcomes,psychological impact,and complication rates associated with external fixation and volar or dorsal plating in relation to the functional parameters following treatment of intra-articular fractures of the distal radius(IFDR) in patients older than 65 years.We hypothesized that using volar or dorsal plating would improve functional outcomes,but that it would be associated with more complications and equivalent functional outcomes when compared with the external fixation group.A total of 123 consecutive patients suffering from IFDR were recruited into the study.The patients were measured for clinical,radiological,and psychosocial functioning outcomes and were followed up after 1 week and 3,6 and 12 months.After 3 months,the plating group had better pronation(P=0.001),supination,(P=0.047) and extension(P=0.043) scores.These differences were somewhat attenuated by6 months and disappeared at 1 year.The plating group had a greater occurrence of wound infection(P=0.043),tendonitis,(P=0.024) and additional surgery compared with the external fixation group.The only TNO-AZL Adult Quality of Life scores in the plating group that were lower than those in the external fixation group were in the 'gross motor' category(walking upstairs,bending over,walking 500 yards; P=0.023).Internal fixation was more advantageous than external fixation in the early rehabilitation period; after 1 year the outcomes were similar.The plating group showed significantly higher levels of wound infection and tendonitis and had a greater need for additional surgeries.Chuang Ma Qiang Deng Hongwei Pu Xinchun Cheng Yuhua Kan Jing Yang Aihemaitijiang Yusufu Li Cao 2016Bone Research2016,4,1:7
18Hepatectomy in the treatment of very big primary liver cancer: report of 86 cases显示文摘Objective: To study the indications for resection ofvery big primary liver cancer and the operative re-sults.Methods: From January 1985 to June 1996, 86 pa-tients with very big primary liver cancer (≥15cm indiameter) underwent hepatectomy in our hospital.The volume of bleeding and blood transfusion wasrecorded during the operation. After the operation,the draining quantity from their abdominal cavities,and the days of transfusion and hospitalization wererecorded. The occurrence of complications and sur-vival time of the patient were followed up.Results: The postoperative mortality was 3.48% andthe occurrence rate of complications was 31.40%, whichwas significantly correlated with preoperative lowerlevel of serum albumin or the elevated γ-globulin lev-el and the amount of resected liver tissue. But their liverfunction before operation was fairly good, the 1-, 3-and 5-year survival rates after hepatectomy were58.2%, 35.7% and 17.64%.Conclusions: Patients with very big primary liver can-cer, should be subjected to hepatectomy if their liverfunction before operation are normal and the marginsare distinct between the tumor and liver tissues. 19Ecological vulnerability analysis of Tibetan towns with tourism-based economy: a case study of the Bayi District显示文摘This paper provides a generalizable mode for the ecological vulnerability evaluation for tourism planning and development in high mountain areas.The Bayi District located in southeastern Tibet is taken as a typical town to study the conflict between the protection of natural ecological environment and the exploitation of tourism resources. Based on the Sensitivity-Recovery-Pressure(SRP) framework, a set of vulnerability evaluation systems for plateau tourism regions were developed. The spatial principal component analysis(SPCA), remote sensing and GIS technologies were integrated to apply for spatial quantification of evaluation index system. The ecological vulnerability of the Bayi District was divided into five levels: potential, mild, moderate,severe, and extreme, and our results showed that significantly severe and extreme vulnerability areas were mainly distributed throughout the southwestern and central northern alpine pasture and glacial zones.Potential and mild vulnerability areas were mainly distributed in the vicinity of the Yarlung Zangbo River tributary basin. Then three tourism development and environmental protection zones were classified and appropriate measures for the protection were proposed. 20Characterization of miRNomes in Acute and Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Cell Lines显示文摘Myeloid leukemias are highly diverse diseases and have been shown to be associated with microRNA(miRNA) expression aberrations. The present study involved an in-depth miRNome analysis of two human acute myeloid leukemia(AML) cell lines, HL-60 and THP-1, and one human chronic myeloid leukemia(CML) cell line, K562, via massively parallel signature sequencing. mRNA expression profiles of these cell lines that were established previously in our lab facilitated an integrative analysis of miRNA and mRNA expression patterns. miRNA expression profiling followed by differential expression analysis and target prediction suggested numerous miRNA signatures in AML and CML cell lines. Some miRNAs may act as either tumor suppressors or oncomiRs in AML and CML by targeting key genes in AML and CML pathways. Expression patterns of cell type-specific miRNAs could partially reflect the characteristics of K562, HL-60 and THP-1 cell lines, such as actin filament-based processes, responsiveness to stimulus and phagocytic activity. miRNAs may also regulate myeloid differentiation, since they usually suppress differentiation regulators. Our study provides a resource to further investigate the employment of miRNAs in human leukemia subtyping, leukemogenesis and myeloid development.
