| 1 | Computed tomography and patient risk:Facts,perceptions and uncertainties显示文摘Since its introduction in the 1970s, computed tomography(CT) has revolutionized diagnostic decision-making. One of the major concerns associated with the widespread use of CT is the associated increased radiation exposure incurred by patients. The link between ionizing radiation and the subsequent development of neoplasia has been largely based on extrapolating data from studies of survivors of the atomic bombs dropped in Japan in 1945 and on assessments of the increased relative risk of neoplasia in those occupationally exposed to radiation within the nuclear industry. However, the association between exposure to low-dose radiation from diagnostic imaging examinations and oncogenesis remains unclear. With improved technology, significant advances have already been achieved with regards to radiation dose reduction. There are several dose optimization strategies available that may be readily employed including omitting unnecessary images at the ends of acquired series, minimizing the number of phases acquired, and the use of automated exposure control as opposed to fixed tube current techniques. In addition, new image reconstruction techniques that reduce radiation dose have been developed in recent years with promising results. | 2 | Whole-genome sequencing to detect mutations associated with resistance to insecticides and Bt proteins in Spodoptera frugiperda显示文摘The fall armyworm(FAW),Spodoptera frugiperda,is a major pest native to the Americas that has recently invaded the Old World.Point mutations in the target-site proteins acetylcholinesterase-1(ace-1),voltage-gated sodium channel(VGSC)and ryanodine receptor(RyR)have been identified in S.frugiperda as major resistance mechanisms to organophosphate,pyrethroid and diamide insecticides respectively.Mutations in the adenosine triphosphate-binding cassette transporter C2 gene(ABCC2)have also been identified to confer resistance to Cry IF protein.In this study,we applied a whole-genome sequencing(WGS)approach to identify point mutations in the target-site genes in 150 FAW individuals collected from China,Malawi,Uganda and Brazil.This approach revealed three amino acid substitutions(A201S,G227A and F290V)of S.frugiperda ace-1,which are known to be associated with organophosphate resistance.The Brazilian population had all three ace-1 point mutations and the 227A allele(mean frequency=0.54)was the most common.Populations from China,Malawi and Uganda harbored two of the three ace-1 point mutations(A201S and F290V)with the 290V allele(0.47-0.58)as the dominant allele.Point mutations in VGSC(T929I,L932F and L1014F)and RyR(I4790M and G4946E)were not detected in any of the 150 individuals.A novel 12-bp insertion mutation in exon 15 of the ABCC2 gene was identified in some of the Brazilian individuals but absent in the invasive populations.Our results not only demonstrate robustness of the WGS-based genomic approach for detection of resistance mutations,but also provide insights for improvement of resistance management tactics in S.frugiperda. | Fang Guan Jianpeng Zhang Huiwen Shen Xingliang Wang Amanda Padovan Tom K.Walsh Wee Tek Tay Karl H.J.Gordon William James Cecilia Czepak Michael Hilary Otim Donald Kachigamba Yidong Wu | 2021 | Insect Science2021，28，3： | 6 |

| 4 | C-reactive protein and radiographic findings of lower respiratory tract infection in infants显示文摘AIM To evaluate the association between C-reactive protein(CRP) and radiological evidence of lower respiratory tract infection(LRTI) in infants.METHODS All patients aged less than 4 years who presented with suspected lower respiratory tract infection,who received a peri-presentation chest radiograph and CRP blood measurement over an 18-mo period were included in the study.Age,gender,source of referral,CRP,white cell count,neutrophil count along with the patients' symptoms and radiologist's report were recorded.RESULTS Three hundred and eleven patients met the inclusioncriteria.Abnormal chest radiographs were more common in patients with elevated CRP levels(P < 0.01).Radiologic signs of LRTI were identified in 73.7% of chest radiographs when a patient had a CRP level between 50-99 mg/L.CRP levels were a better predictor of positive chest radiograph findings for those aged greater than I year compared to those 1 year or less.CONCLUSION CRP may be used in patients with suspected LRTI diagnosis to select those who are likely to have positive findings on chest radiograph,thus reducing unnecessary chest radiographs. | Maria Twomey Hannah Fleming Fiachra Moloney Kevin P Murphy Lee Crush Siobhan B O’Neill Oisin Flanagan Karl James Conor Bogue Owen J O’Connor Michael M Maher | 2017 | World Journal of Radiology2017，9，4： | 2 |

| 8 | WONCA研究论文摘要汇编——利用α达贝泊汀治疗收缩性心力衰竭患者贫血显示文摘背景收缩性心力衰竭伴贫血患者的症状、功能及结局差于不伴贫血的患者。评价ɑ达贝泊汀用于收缩性心力衰竭伴贫血患者的临床效果。方法采用随机、双盲试验。研究者将2 278例收缩性心力衰竭伴轻至中度贫血(血红蛋白水平9.0~12.0 g/dl)患者随机分为接受ɑ达贝泊汀治疗组(血红蛋白目标水平为13 g/dl)和安慰剂组。主要结局为各种原因引起的死亡或因心力衰竭加重导致的住院。结果ɑ达贝泊汀组1 136例患者中有576例(50.7%)出现主要结局;安慰剂组1 142例患者中565例(49.5%)出现主要结局〔ɑ达贝泊汀组HR=1.01,95%CI(0.90,1.13),P=0.87〕。两组间所有次级结局无明显差异。ɑ达贝泊汀的中性作用在所有预设亚组中呈现一致性。致命或非致命性卒中:ɑ达贝泊汀组42例(3.7%),安慰剂组31例(2.7%,P=0.23)。血栓栓塞不良事件:ɑ达贝泊汀组153例(13.5%),安慰剂组114例(10.0%)(P=0.01)。癌症相关不良事件在两组中相似。结论ɑ达贝泊汀并不能改善收缩性心力衰竭伴轻至中度贫血患者的临床结局。研究者的发现不支持这些患者使用ɑ达贝泊汀。 | Karl Swedberg James B.
