3Ombitasvir, paritaprevir, ritonavir, dasabuvir and ribavirin in cirrhosis after complete destruction of hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘We observed a sustained viral response(SVR) of ombitasvir/paritaprevir/ritonavir, dasabuvir and ribavirin therapy, for 12 wk, in two cases with compensated liver cirrhosis and fully destroyed early hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). Patients were infected with hepatitis C virus(HCV) genotype 1b and were previous null responders/relapsers to interferon-alpha/ribavirin(IFN/RBV). There was a rapid suppression of HCV RNA to undetectable levels within the first two treatment weeks. SVR was achieved even after marked reduction of the RBV dose. The treatment was well tolerated. Both subjects experienced worsening of liver disease during therapy, in different patterns: severe, transient, predominantly direct hyperbilirubinemia without cytolysis(case 1) or progressive increase of aminotransferases(grade 4) without severe hyperbilirubinemia(case 2).Adverse events spontaneously resolved. The patients remained in a good clinical condition without hepatic decompensation. There was no re-occurrence of HCC. 12Delivery of coenzyme Q10 loaded micelle targets mitochondrial ROS and enhances efficiency of mesenchymal stem cell therapy in intervertebral disc degeneration显示文摘Stem cell transplantation has been proved a promising therapeutic instrument in intervertebral disc degeneration(IVDD).However,the elevation of oxidative stress in the degenerated region impairs the efficiency of mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs)transplantation treatment via exaggeration of mitochondrial ROS and promotion of BMSCs apoptosis.Herein,we applied an emulsion-confined assembly method to encapsulate Coenzyme Q10(Co-Q10),a promising hydrophobic antioxidant which targets mitochondria ROS,into the lecithin micelles,which renders the insoluble Co-Q10 dispersible in water as stable colloids.These micelles are injectable,which displayed efficient ability to facilitate Co-Q10 to get into BMSCs in vitro,and exhibited prolonged release of Co-Q10 in intervertebral disc tissue of animal models.Compared to mere use of Co-Q10,the Co-Q10 loaded micelle possessed better bioactivities,which elevated the viability,restored mitochondrial structure as well as function,and enhanced production of ECM components in rat BMSCs.Moreover,it is demonstrated that the injection of this micelle with BMSCs retained disc height and alleviated IVDD in a rat needle puncture model.Therefore,these Co-Q10 loaded micelles play a protective role in cell survival and differentiation through antagonizing mitochondrial ROS,and might be a potential therapeutic agent for IVDD.Junyuan Sun Fei Yang Lianlei Wang Haichao Yu Zhijie Yang Jingjing Wei Krasimir Vasilev Xuesong Zhang Xinyu Liu Yunpeng Zhao 2023Bioactive Materials2023,,5:0

15Renal cell carcinoma presented with a rare case of icteric Stauffer syndrome:A case report显示文摘BACKGROUND Paraneoplastic syndromes remain poorly understood and manifest as multifaceted clinical symptoms,making their diagnosis difficult.Cholestasis can be observed in various malignancies.In rare cases,it can be a paraneoplastic manifestation,most often associated with renal cell carcinoma and other urogenital tumors,as well as with bronchial carcinoma.The classical form of Stauffer syndrome presents with a reversible anicteric increase of cholestatic liver function tests,thrombocytosis,coagulation impairment,and hepatosplenomegaly,without any proven hepatobiliary obstruction or metastases.CASE SUMMARY We report a patient who presented with elevated liver enzymes,cholestatic jaundice,weight loss and pruritus,in whom renal cell carcinoma was incidentally found during hospitalization.Clinical,laboratory,and imaging tests excluded primary hepatic cause or metastatic disease.Jaundice and laboratory abnormalities reversed completely a few months after nephrectomy.This case is an example of the many sides of renal cell carcinoma,and it focuses the clinicians’attention on the differential diagnosis of cholestasis,including Stauffer syndrome and its variant.Thus,the correct diagnosis can be straightforward and the associated malignancy can be treated promptly.All cases should be followed up with a multidisciplinary team.Interleukin(IL)-6 is proposed to contribute to the pathophysiology of the condition.The probable mechanism is proinflammatory activity by the IL-6 cytokine,causing elevation of C-reactive protein and haptoglobin and inhibition of hepatobiliary transporter gene expression,impairing biliary outflow.CONCLUSION Despite being rare,Stauffer syndrome is a potentially reversible paraneoplastic condition,when the primary cause is treatable.This syndrome should be considered by clinicians because of the remediable liver disturbance,after successful treatment of the underlying malignancy.Dimitar R Popov Krasimir A Antonov Evelina G Atanasova Christo P Pentchev Lyuben M Milatchkov Maria D Petkova Krasimir G Neykov Rosen K Nikolov 2022World Journal of Clinical Cases2022,10,25:0
16International scientific communications in the field of colorectal tumour markers显示文摘AIM To analyze scientometrically the dynamic science internationalization on colorectal tumour markers as reflected in five information portals and to outline the significant journals, scientists and institutions.METHODS A retrospective problem-oriented search was performed in Web of Science Core Collection(Wo S), MEDLINE, BIOSIS Citation Index(BIOSIS) and Scopus for 1986-2015 as well as in Dervent Innovations Index(Derwent) for 1995-2015. Several specific scientometric parameters of the publication output and citation activity were comparatively analyzed. The following scientometric parameters were analyzed:(1) annual dynamics of publications;(2) scientific institutions;(3) journals;(4) authors;(5) scientific forums;(6) patents-number of patents, names and countries of inventors, and(7) citations(number of citations to publications by single authors received in WoS, BIOSIS Citation Index and Scopus).RESULTS There is a trend towards increasing publication output on colorectal tumour markers worldwide along with high citation rates. Authors from 70 countries have published their research results in journals and conference proceedings in 21 languages. There is considerable country stratification similar to that in most systematic investigations. The information provided to end users and scientometricians varies between these data-bases in terms of most parameters due to different journal coverage, indexing systems and editorial policy. The lists of the so-called 'core' journals and most productive authors in Wo S, BIOSIS, MEDLINE and Scopus along with the list of the most productive authors-inventors in Derwent present a particular interest to the beginners in the field, the institutional and national science managers and the journal editorial board members. The role of the purposeful assessment of scientific forums and patents is emphasized.
