4Community Dynamics of Seed Rain in Mixed Evergreen Broad-leaved and Deciduous Forests in a Subtropical Mountain of Central China显示文摘Seed dispersal is a key process within community dynamics.The spatial and temporal variations of seed dispersal andthe interspecific differences are crucial for understanding species coexistence and community dynamics.This might alsohold for the mixed evergreen broadleaved and deciduous forests in the mountains of subtropical China,but until now littleexisting knowledge is available for this question.In 2001,we chose to monitor the seed rain process of our mixed evergreenbroad-leaved and deciduous forest communities in Mount Dalaoling National Forest Park,Yichang,Hubei Province,China.The preliminary analyses show obvious variations in seed rain density,species compositions and timing of seed rain amongfour communities.The average seed rain densities of the four communities are 2.43±5.15,54.13±182.75,10.05±19.30and 24.91±58.86 inds./m^2,respectively;about one tenth the values in other studies in subtropical forests of China.In eachcommunity,the seed production is dominated by a limited number of species,and the contributions from the others aregenerally minor.Fecundity of evergreen broadleaved tree species is weaker than deciduous species.The seed rain of fourcommunities begins earlier than September,and stops before December,peaking from early September to late October.The beginning date,ending date and peak times of seed rain are extensively varied among the species,indicating differenttypes of dispersal strategies.According to the existing data,the timing of seed rain is not determined by the climateconditions in the same period,while the density of seed rain may be affected by the disturbances of weather variations ata finer temporal resolution.Ze-Hao Shen Yuan-Yuan Tang Nan Lü Jun Zhao Dao-Xing Li Gong-Fang Wang 2007Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2007,49,9:9
5Early experiences on living donor liver transplantation in China: multicenter report显示文摘Background Because of the lack of brain death laws in China, the proportion of cadaveric organ donation is low. Many patients with end-stage liver disease die waiting for a suitable donor. Living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) would reduce the current discrepancy between the number of patients on the transplant waiting list and the number of available organ donors. We describe the early experience of LDLT in the mainland of China based on data from five liver transplant centers. Methods Between January 2001 and October 2003, 45 patients with end-stage liver disease received LDLT at five centers in China. The indication and timing, surgical techniques and complications, nonsurgical issues including rejection, infection, and advantages of LDLT in the series were reviewed. Actuarial patient and graft survival rates were calculated by using the Kaplan-Meier product-limit estimate. Statistical analysis was completed by using SPSS 10.0. Results All LDLT recipients were cirrhotic patients, except for one man with fulminant hepatic failure. Among the 45 cases of LDLT, 35 (77.8%) were performed in one center (the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University). The overall 1 and 3 year survival rate of the recipients was 93.1% and 92.0%, respectively. Of the 45 LDLT donors, there were 3 cases of biliary leakage, 2 subphrenic collections, 1 fat liquefaction around the incision and 1 biliary peritonitis after T tube removal. All donors recovered completely. Conclusions LDLT provides an excellent approach to addressing the problem of donor shortage in China even though the operation is complicated, uncompromising and difficult with respect to the safety of the donors and receptors. Despite early technical hurdles having been overcome, perfection of technique is still necessarily. 6Femtosecond-laser sharp shaping of millimeter-scale geometries with vertical sidewalls显示文摘As femtosecond(fs)laser machining advances from micro/nanoscale to macroscale,approaches capable of machining macroscale geometries that sustain micro/nanoscale precisions are in great demand.In this research,an fs laser sharp shaping approach was developed to address two key challenges in macroscale machining(i.e.defects on edges and tapered sidewalls).The evolution of edge sharpness(edge transition width)and sidewall tapers were systematically investigated through which the dilemma of simultaneously achieving sharp edges and vertical sidewalls were addressed.Through decreasing the angle of incidence(AOI)from 0◦to−5◦,the edge transition width could be reduced to below 10µm but at the cost of increased sidewall tapers.Furthermore,by analyzing lateral and vertical ablation behaviors,a parameter-compensation strategy was developed by gradually decreasing the scanning diameters along depth and using optimal laser powers to produce non-tapered sidewalls.The fs laser ablation behaviors were precisely controlled and coordinated to optimize the parameter compensations in general manufacturing applications.The AOI control together with the parameter compensation provides a versatile solution to simultaneously achieve vertical sidewalls as well as sharp edges of entrances and exits for geometries of different shapes and dimensions.Both mm-scale diameters and depths were realized with dimensional precisions below 10µm and surface roughness below 1µm.This research establishes a novel strategy to finely control the fs laser machining process,enabling the fs laser applications in macroscale machining with micro/nanoscale precisions.Qiuchi Zhu Peixun Fan Nan Li Timothy Carlson Bai Cui Jean-François Silvain Jerry L Hudgins Yong Feng Lu 2021International Journal of Extreme Manufacturing2021,3,4:6

10Effect of Tongxieyaofang decoction on colonic mucosal protein expression profiles in rats with visceral hypersensitivity显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To explore the underlying mechanism of action of Tongxieyaofang decoction in rats with visceral hypersensitivity using proteomics technology.METHODS: Twenty-four female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups: control group, irritable bowel syndrome(IBS) group and Tongxieyaofang treatment group. An IBS model, characterized as visceral hypersensitivity, was established using the odour of mothballs as conditional stimulation and colorectal distension combined with classic physical restraint as non-conditional stimulation. Rats were intragastrically treated with Tongxieyaofang(2 or 4 m L · kg^(-1)· d^(-1))for 4 weeks. On the 45 th day, the rats were dissected and the colonic mucosal proteins were extracted. Differential protein spots were screened by fluorescent two-dimensional differential gel electrophoresis(2 D-DIGE), and identified by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionisation time of flight mass spectrometry(MALDI-TOF-MS). Western blotting experiments were performed to verify the changes observed in 2 D-DIGE and MALDI-TOF-MS.RESULTS: It was found that the visceral sensitivity of rats in the Tongxieyaofang treatment group(4 m L/kg) was lower than that in the IBS group(P <0.01). Sixty-one protein spots were differentially expressed between the IBS group and the Tongxieyaofang treatment group. Of these, 23 spots were upregulated in the Tongxieyaofang treatment group, while 38 spots were downregulated. Three specific proteins were successfully identified from the five protein spots with the most obvious changes. The two upregulated proteins were transgelin(TAGLN) and acetaldehyde dehydrogenase 2(Aldh2) and the downregulated protein was cytokeratin 8(CK8).CONCLUSION: Tongxieyaofang can dose-dependently ameliorate visceral hypersensitivity in rats and the mechanism of action may involve the upregulation of TAGLN and Aldh2 and the downregulation of CK8.Lin Yongjun Ding Ying Lü Bin Liu Nan 2020Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2020,40,2:4
11Polar interaction of polymer host-solvent enables stable solid electrolyte interphase in composite lithium metal anodes显示文摘The lithium(Li) metal anode is an integral component in an emerging high-energy-density rechargeable battery.A composite Li anode with a three-dimensional(3 D) host exhibits unique advantages in suppressing Li dendrites and maintaining dimensional stability.However,the fundamental understanding and regulation of solid electrolyte interphase(SEI),which directly dictates the behavior of Li plating/stripping,are rarely researched in composite Li metal anodes.Herein,the interaction between a polar polymer host and solvent molecules was proposed as an emerging but effective strategy to enable a stable SEI and a uniform Li deposition in a working battery.Fluoroethylene carbonate molecules in electrolytes are enriched in the vicinity of a polar polyacrylonitrile(PAN) host due to a strong dipole-dipole interaction,resulting in a LiF-rich SEI on Li metal to improve the uniformity of Li deposition.A composite Li anode with a PAN host delivers 145 cycles compared with 90 cycles when a non-polar host is employed.Moreover,60 cycles are demonstrated in a 1:0 Ah pouch cell without external pressure.This work provides a fresh guidance for designing practical composite Li anodes by unraveling the vital role of the synergy between a 3 D host and solvent molecules for regulating a robust SEI.Peng Shi Ze-Yu Liu Xue-Qiang Zhang Xiang Chen Nan Yao Jin Xie Cheng-Bin Jin Ying-Xin Zhan Gang Ye Jia-Qi Huang Stephens IfanE L Titirici Maria-Magdalena Qiang Zhang 2022Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,1:3

13Antioxidant Effects of Oats Avenanthramides on Human Serum显示文摘The antioxidant ability of capsules containing oats avenanthramides on human body was evaluated in present study.Healthy people were randomized to supplementation with oats-derived avenanthramides capsules or placebo for 1 mon.Plasma lipid peroxides and antioxidant status were measured.For 8 capsules (containing 3.12 mg avenanthramides) groups,the levels of serum superoxide dismutase (SOD) and reduced glutathione hormone (GSH) were significantly increased by 8.4 and 17.9%,respectively (P<0.05),and malondialdehyde (MDA) level significantly decreased by 28.1%.The total cholesterol (TC),triglyceride (TG),and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels were lowered by 11.1,28.1,and 15.1%,respectively (P<0.05).The high density blood lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels in the same treat was increased by 13.2%.Based on our research,it can be concluded that oats extract containing avenanthramides possessed a high antioxidative activity on humans.It indicated that oat avenanthramides could be used to prevent hyperlipemic and angiocardiopathy.LIU Sen YANG Nan HOU Zhao-hua YAO Yang Lü Li ZHOU Xian-rong REN Gui-xing 2011Agricultural Sciences in China2011,10,8:3
14Shenfuqiangxin Capsule inhibits apoptosis through mitogen-activated protein kinase signal pathway in rats with cardio-renal syndrome induced by infrarenal aortic-clamping显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of Shenfuqiangxin capsule and the underlying mechanism on cardio-renal syndrome(CRS) in rats induced by infrarenal aortic-clamping after renal ischaemia.METHODS: Male Wistar rats underwent infrarenal aortic-clamping after renal ischaemia or sham operation. The surviving CRS rats were divided randomly into three groups: CRS group(CRS + 10 m L·kg-1·d-1pure water by gavage), SFQX group(CRS + 13.2 g crude drug·kg- 1·d- 1Shenfuqiangxin by gavage),and handleregionpeptide(HRP)group(CRS+10mg/kg HRP by vein). Sham operation rats were given10 m L·kg-1·d-1pure water. Treatments were given8 weeks after surgery, which lasted for 4 weeks. Therats were detected for heart structure and function by transthoracic echocardiography. PPR m RNA was detected by Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction(RT-PCR). To determine whether the mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK) signal pathway is included in the heart and kidney protective function of Shenfuqiangxin capsule, MAPK related proteins such as posophorylated C-Jun amino terminal kinase(p-JNK), posophorylated extracellular signal-regulated kinase ?(p-ERK1/2), posophorylated p38(p-p38) were examined by Western Blot.Apoptosis in heart and kidney tissues were detected by d UTP Nick End Labeling staining.RESULTS: Shenfuqiangxin capsule alleviated myocardial apoptosis and inhibited PRR m RNA expression and p-JNK, p-ERK1/2, p-p38 proteins expression in CRS rats.CONCLUSION: All the results suggest that Shenfuqiangxin capsule improves the injured heart and kidney function maybe through inhibition of MAPK response pathway.Wang Lei Wang Zi Yuan Ling Hao Di LüNan Li Xu 2017Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2017,37,1:3
15多种代用资料和模型模拟得到的亚洲季风在8.2ka显著气候影响的证据(英文)显示文摘Given the likelihood of future reductions in the strength of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation(AMOC),it is important to document how changes in the AMOC have altered climate patterns in the past and to assess the skill of coupled climate models in reproducing these teleconnections.Of past abrupt changes in the AMOC,the 8.2 ka event provides a particularly useful case study because its duration,magnitude of AMOC reduction and background climate state are closest to conditions expected in the future.In this research,we present an expanded proxy synthesis of the 8.2 ka event in monsoonal Asia,including new high-resolution lake and bog records,more sites from the East Asia monsoon region and proxies of winter monsoon strength.We compare proxy evidence with a new simulation of the 8.2 ka event using the Community Climate System Model version 3(CCSM3) and prescribing North Atlantic freshwater forcing according to the latest reconstructions.We find clear and objectively-determined evidence for 8.2 ka climate anomalies at nearly all of the fourteen proxy sites,emphasizing the strong and widespread impacts of the event in monsoonal Asia during both summer and winter seasons.The model simulation corroborates that these anomalies,described generally as a weakening of the summer monsoon and strengthening of the winter monsoon,were likely caused by a reduction of the AMOC.Examination of regional anomalies in East Asia reveals some spatial heterogeneity,however,that in the model simulation is caused by contraction of the seasonal migration of the subtropical monsoon front.The duration of climate anomalies at 8.2 ka in monsoonal Asia,both in proxy records and the model simulation,generally matches the duration of the event in Greenland ice core δ^(18)O,further supporting a tight connection to the North Atlantic.MORRILL Carrie WAGNER Amy J OTTO-BLIESNER Bette L ROSENBLOOM Nan 2011地球环境学报2011,2,3:3
16Berberine derivatives with a long alkyl chain branched by hydroxyl group and methoxycarbonyl group at 9-position show improved anti-proliferation activity and membrane permeability in A549 cells显示文摘Berberine(BBR)exhibits diverse bioactivities,including anticancer activity;but its poor druggability limits its applications.In this study,we designed and synthesized a series of 9-0 position modified BBR derivatives aiming to improve its cell permeability and anticancer activity,utilizing a long alkyl chain branched by hydroxyl group and methoxycarbonyl group.Among these compounds,B10 showed 3.6-fold higher intracellular concentration than BBR,as well as 60-fold increased anti-proliferation activity against human lung cancer A549 cells compared with BBR,Treatment with B10(1,2μM)induced apoptosis of A549 cells.Further investigations showed that B10 treatment dose-dependently affected mitochondrial functions,including oxygen consumption rate(OCR),mitochondrial membrane potential(MMP)and the morphology of mitochondria in A549 cells.Therefore,this work offers a new way for BBR structural modification through improving cell membrane permeability to affect mitochondrial functions and potential anti-tumor therapy in the future.Yi Liu Ke-xin Zhu Lei Cao Zhi-fu Xie Min Gu Wei Lü Jing-ya Li Fa-jun Nan 2020Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2020,41,6:2
17Correlation between liquid structure and glass forming ability in glassy Ag-based binary alloys显示文摘The atomic structures of liquid Ag-based binary alloys have been investigated in the solidification process by means of X-ray diffraction. The results of liquid structure show that there is a break point in the mean nearest neighbor distance r1 and the coordination number Nmin for glass-forming liquid, while the correlation radius rc and the coordination number Nmin display a monotone variational trend above the break point. It means glass-forming liquids have a steady changing in structure above liquidus and more inhomogeneous state at liquidus. 18Identification of stable normalization genes for quantitative real-time PCR in porcine articular cartilage显示文摘Background: Expression levels for genes of interest must be normalized with an appropriate reference, or housekeeping gene, to make accurate comparisons of quantitative real-time PCR results. The purpose of this study was to identify the most stable housekeeping genes in porcine articular cartilage subjected to a mechanical injury from a panel of 10 candidate genes. Results: Ten candidate housekeeping genes were evaluated in three different treatment groups of mechanically impacted porcine articular cartilage. The genes evaluated were: beta actin, beta-2-microglobulin, glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase, hydroxymethylbilane synthase, hypoxanthine phosphoribosyl transferase, peptidylprolyl isomerase A (cyclophilin A), ribosomal protein L4, succinate dehydrogenase flavoprotein subunit A, TATA box binding protein, and tyrosine 3-monooxygenase/tryptophan 5-monooxygenase activation protein-zeta polypeptide. The stability of the genes was measured using geNorm, BestKeeper, and NormFinder software. The four most stable genes measured via geNorm were (most to least stable) succinate dehydrogenase flavoprotein, subunit A, peptidylprolyl isomerase A, glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase, beta actin; the four most stable genes measured via BestKeeper were glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase, peptidylprolyl isomerase A, beta actin, succinate dehydrogenase flavoprotein, subunit A; and the four most stable genes measured via NormFinder were peptidylprolyl isomerase A, succinate dehydrogenase flavoprotein, subunit A, glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase, beta actin. Conclusions: BestKeeper, geNorm, and NormFinder all generated similar results for the most stable genes in porcine articular cartilage. 19Co-regulated Protein Functional Modules with Varying Activities in Dynamic PPI Networks显示文摘Current methods for the detection of differential gene expression focus on finding individual genes that may be responsible for certain diseases or external irritants. However, for common genetic diseases, multiple genes and their interactions should be understood and treated together during the exploration of disease causes and possible drug design. The present study focuses on analyzing the dynamic patterns of co-regulated modules during biological progression and determining those having remarkably varying activities, using the yeast cell cycle as a case study. We first constructed dynamic active protein-protein interaction networks by modeling the activity of proteins and assembling the dynamic co-regulation protein network at each time point. The dynamic active modules were detected using a method based on the Bayesian graphical model and then the modules with the most varied dispersion of clustering coefficients, which could be responsible for the dynamic mechanism of the cell cycle, were identified.
