1Soil microbial community structure and function responses to successive planting of Eucalyptus显示文摘Many studies have shown soil degradation after the conversion of native forests to exotic Eucalyptus plantations. However, few studies have investigated the long-term impacts of short-rotation forestry practices on soil microorganisms. The impacts of Eucalyptus successive rotations on soil microbial communities were evaluated by comparing phospholipid fatty acid(PLFA) abundances,compositions, and enzyme activities of native Pinus massoniana plantations and adjacent 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th generation Eucalyptus plantations. The conversion from P. massoniana to Eucalyptus plantations significantly decreased soil microbial community size and enzyme activities, and increased microbial physiological stress. However, the PLFA abundances formed '∪' shaped quadratic functions with Eucalyptus plantation age. Alternatively, physiological stress biomarkers, the ratios of monounsaturated to saturated fatty acid and Gram+ to Gram- bacteria, formed '∩' shaped quadratic functions, and the ratio of cy17:0 to 16:1ω7c decreased with plantation age. The activities of phenol oxidase, peroxidase, and acid phosphatase increased with Eucalyptus plantation age, while the cellobiohydrolase activity formed '∪' shaped quadratic functions. Soil N:P, alkaline hydrolytic nitrogen, soil organic carbon, and understory cover largely explained the variation in PLFA profiles while soil N:P, alkaline hydrolytic nitrogen, and understory cover explained most of the variability in enzyme activity. In conclusion, soil microbial structure and function under Eucalyptus plantations were strongly impacted by plantation age. Most of the changes could be explained by altered soil resource availability and understory cover associated with successive planting of Eucalyptus. 2Regulation of the cellular uptake of nanopartides by the orientation of helical polypeptides显示文摘Controlling the cellular interactio n and internal izatio n of polymer-modified nan oparticles (NPs) is of central importa nee to the developme nt of promisi ng nano medici nes. Here, we describe the use of synthetic polypeptides for NP surface coati ng and regulati on of their cellular uptake behaviors by simply switching the conformation and anchoring orientation. Our results show that gold NPs (AuNPs) coated with a helical poly(Y-(2-(2-(2-methoxyethoxy)ethoxy)ethoxy)esteryl「glutamate)(L-P(EG3Glu)5o) from the C-terminus ((L-C)-AuNPs) exhibit greater zeta potential and more cellular uptake (2.0-5.5 fold higher) than those coated with the same polypeptide but anchored from the N-terminus ((L-N)-AuNPs), or from both the C- and N-terminus at a 1/1 molar ratio ((L-C/L-N)-AuNPs). A similar orientation-regulated cellular internalization pattern is observed in D-P(EG3Glu)50 but not the unstructured DL-P(EG3Glu)5o-rnodified AuNPs, suggesting an important and universal role of the helix-derived macrodipole in cellular uptake. Moreover, this orientation-governed internalization is successfully reproduced in P(EG3Glu)50-coated gold nano rods (AuNRs), and applied to the desig n of doxorubici reloaded polypeptide micelles. Simulation study offers time-resolved in sights regarding the NP-membrane in teracti ons and membrane remodeling. Thus, our study provides a delicate way of regulating the surface chemistry of NPs and the subsequent NP-cell interactions. 4Sea surface height measuring using InSAR altimeter显示文摘Satellite altimetry has been widely used in measuring ocean topography from space.The conventional altimeter system is the nadir radar altimeter system which has the limitations of one-dimensional measurement and is unable to get both high temporal and spatial resolution.The InSAR altimetry system using InSAR altimeter instead of nadir radar altimeter is an improvement which can get both high cross-track and along-track resolution and wide swath.However,the conventional SAR interferometry only can achieve meter level height accuracy.This paper focuses on a method of radar echo-tracking for InSAR altimeter system in order to correct the slant range measurements and finally to improve the height measurement accuracy to several centimeters' level.Radar slant range(from observed pixels to radar antenna) estimation error affects the height measurement accuracy badly,nevertheless not considered in the conventional SAR interferometry.The proposed method is ameliorated based on the traditional echo-model used in nadir radar altimeter system,focusing on the echo signals from observed pixels with different incident angles.Simulations of sea surface height measurements are performed in the last part of this paper,and the conclusions are drawn that,with corrected slant range,the accuracy of InSAR altimetry can be much better than the conventional SAR interferometry.Xiaohong Sui Running Zhang Falin Wu Yang Li Xiaoyun Wan 2017Geodesy and Geodynamics2017,8,4:1
5Molecular simulation of diffusion of rigidity-tuned nanoparticles in biological hydrogels显示文摘The penetration capability of the drug nano-carriers (NCs) in biological hydrogels, such as mucus and tumor interstitial matrix, would typically influence the efficiency of drug delivery. Understanding the effect of the physicochemical property of the drug carriers on their diffusion capability in biological hydrogel becomes important for designing and optimizing the nano-carriers. Here, using a coarse-grained molecular dynamics model, we studied how the rigidity of NCs affected their diffusivity in biological hydrogel. The results showed that semi-elastic NCs have higher diffusivity than the hard and the soft NCs. Furthermore, the affinity between the NCs and biological hydrogels and the size ratio between the hydrogel meshes and NCs have also affected the diffusivity of the NCs. Further analysis revealed the mechanism that the deformation of the NCs dominates their diffusivity. 10Challenges and improvement in management of neonates born to mothers with COVID-19 in China显示文摘Objective:China was the first country suffering from the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and one of the countries with stringent mother-neonate isolation measure implemented.Now increasing evidence suggests that coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)should not be taken as an indication for formula feeding or isolation of the infant from the mother.Methods:We conducted a retrospective cohort study in 44 hospitals from 14 provinces in China to investigate the management of neonates whose mothers have confirmed or suspected COVID-19.In addition,65 members of Chinese Neonatologist Association(CNA)were invited to give their comments and suggestions on the clinical management guidelines for high-risk neonates.Results:There were 121 neonates born to 118 mothers suspected with COVID-19 including 42 mothers with SARS-CoV-2 positive results and 76 mothers with SARS-CoV-2 negative results.All neonates were born by caesarean section,isolated from their mothers immediately after birth and were formula-fed.Five neonates were positive for SARSCoV-2 at initial testing between 36 and 46 h after birth.Regarding the confusion on the clinical management guidelines,58.78%of the newborns were put into isolation,32.22%were subject to PCR tests,and 5.16%and 2.75%received breastfeeding and vaccination,respectively.Conclusion:The clinical symptoms of neonates born to mothers with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 were mild,though five neonates might have been infected in utero or during delivery.Given the favorable outcomes of neonates born to COVID-confirmed mothers,full isolation may not be warranted.Rather,separation of the mother and her newborn should be assessed on a case-by-case basis,considering local facilities and risk factors for adverse outcomes,such as prematurity and fetal distress.Jie Yang Zhuxiao Ren Lingkong Zeng Shiwen Xia Lin Wang Jiayu Miao Zhe Zhao Chuanzhong Yang Xiuyong Cheng Huayan Zhang Yuanfang Zhu Li Liu Xirong Gao Bin Yi Zhenlang Lin Wei Liu Xiaoyu Zhou Benqing Wu Ling Chen Zhankui Li Xuefeng Zhang Wei Lu Lianhong Zhang Xiao Chen Xiaoyun Zhong Falin Xu Jinhui Wu Yong Ji Jiahua Pan Yanxiang Chen Carine Ronsmans Zhichun Feng 2022Frigid Zone Medicine2022,2,2:0
