1Synthesis, isolation and characterization of methyl levulinate from cellulose catalyzed by extremely low concentration acid显示文摘A direct synthesis of methyl levulinate from cellulose alcoholysis in methanol medium under mild condition(180 210 C)catalyzed by extremely low concentration sulfuric acid(0.01 mol/L)and the product isolation were developed in this study.Effects of different process variables towards the catalytic performance were performed as a function of reaction time.The results indicated that sulfuric acid concentration,temperature and initial cellulose concentration had significant effects on the synthesis of methyl levulinate.An optimized yield of around 50%was achieved at 210 C for 120 min with sulfuric acid concentration of 0.01 mol/L and initial cellulose concentration below 100 g/L.The resulting product mixture was isolated by a distillation technique that combines an atmospheric distillation with a vacuum distillation where n-dodecane was added to help distill the heavy fraction.The light fraction including mainly methanol could be reused as the reaction medium without any substantial change in the yield of methyl levulinate.The chemical composition and structural of lower heavy fraction were characterized by GC/MS,FTIR,1H-NMR and13C-NMR techniques.Methyl levulinate was found to be a major ingredient of lower heavy fraction with the content over 96%.This pathway is efficient,environmentally benign and economical for the production of pure levulinate esters from cellulose.Hui Li Lincai Peng Lu Lin Keli Chen Heng Zhang 2013Journal of Energy Chemistry2013,22,6:9

5Experimental investigation of liquid water in flow field of proton exchange membrane fuel cell by combining X-ray with EIS technologies显示文摘The flow field is a pivotal part to manage the transport of water and gas in proton exchange membrane fuel cell.However,the reported water measurement methods(e.g.,X-ray and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS))cannot give a comprehensive understanding water distribution in the flow field,resulting in challenges in optimizing the channel design and enhancing fuel cell performance.Therefore,we propose a water measurement method combining the X-ray radiography with EIS to investigate the effect of different operating conditions on the growth law and distribution of liquid water in parallel and serpentine flow fields.The attenuation coefficient of liquid water to X-ray is calibrated with constant tube-current and tubevoltage of X-ray generator.Besides,the parallel flow field with hydrophobic treatment is studied.The results show that the water accumulation of the parallel flow field is far more than the serpentine flow field,and the water content of the middle region is higher than that of other regions in the parallel flow field.Furthermore,operating conditions(cathode inlet gas flow rate,inlet gas humidity,and back pressure)have little effect on the liquid water content of the middle region in the parallel flow field.The polarization curve,EIS result,and X-ray radiography show that the performance and water drainage capacity of the hydrophobic parallel flow field are better than the normal one.TONGSH Chasen LIANG YiQi XIE Xu LI LinCai LIU Zhi DU Qing JIAO Kui 2021Science China(Technological Sciences)2021,64,10:0
6Comparative techno-economic analysis of large-scale renewable energy storage technologies显示文摘Energy storage is an effective way to address the instability of renewable energy generation modes,such as wind and solar,which are projected to play an important role in the sustainable and low-carbon society.Economics and carbon emissions are important indicators that should be thoroughly considered for evaluating the feasibility of energy storage technologies(ESTs).In this study,we study two promising routes for large-scale renewable energy storage,electrochemical energy storage(EES)and hydrogen energy storage(HES),via technical analysis of the ESTs.The levelized cost of storage(LCOS),carbon emissions and uncertainty assessments for EESs and HESs over the life cycle are conducted with full consideration of the critical links for these routes.In order to reduce the evaluation error,we use the Monte Carlo method to derive a large number of data for estimating the economy and carbon emission level of ESTs based on the collected data.The results show that lithium ion(Li-ion)batteries show the lowest LCOS and carbon emissions,at 0.314 US$kWh-1 and 72.76 g CO_(2) e kWh^(-1),compared with other batteries for EES.Different HES routes,meaning different combinations of hydrogen production,delivery and refueling methods,show substantial differences in economics,and the lowest LCOS and carbon emissions,at 0.227 US$kWh^(-1) and 61.63 gCO_(2) e kWh^(-1),are achieved using HES routes that involve hydrogen production by alkaline electrolyzer(AE),delivery by hydrogen pipeline and corresponding refueling.The findings of this study suggest that HES and EES have comparable levels of economics and carbon emissions that should be both considered for large-scale renewable energy storage to achieve future decarbonization goals.Lincai Li Bowen Wang Kui Jiao Meng Ni Qing Du Yanli Liu Bin Li Guowei Ling Chengshan Wang 2023Energy and AI2023,14,4:0
7Heterogeneously-catalyzed aerobic oxidation of furfural to furancarboxylic acid with CuO-Promoted MnO_(2)显示文摘A cost-effective and sustainable noble-metal free catalyst system based on ubiquitously available Mn-Cu bimetallic oxides was served as efficient catalysts for furfural selective oxidation to furancarboxylic acid(FA). Interestingly, Mn_(2)Cu_(1)O_(x)exhibited an excellent furfural conversion of 99% with quantitative selectivity toward FA. Especially, we demonstrate the significant weakening of the Mn-O bonds with the incorporation of CuO into the Mn-Cu oxides, resulting in an improved OLreactivity of Mn_(2)Cu_(1)O_(x), which brings about a higher catalytic activity for furfural oxidation. More importantly, Mn_(2)Cu_(1)O_(x)could exhibit YFA>90% over 5 cycles of reusability test.
