| 1 | Microstructures of metallic film and diamond growth from Fe-Ni-C system显示文摘The microstructures of metallic film surrounding diamond have been systemically studied using the transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and the atom force microscopy (AFM). The film can be divided into three layers (inner layer near diamond, external layer near graphite and middle layer). The graphite cannot be directly transformed into diamond in the film at HTHP: there exists a parallelrelationship between (111) of γ-(Fe,Ni) and (110) of Fe3C in the inner layer; the sawtooth-like step morphology found by AFM on the film is similar to that of corresponding diamond surface. A new model for diamond growth at HPHT is proposed from the parallel relationship and sawtooth-like step morphology. | 2 | Closed loop control design for the sense mode of micromachined vibratory gyroscopes显示文摘This paper presents a novel design method of force rebalance control for the sense mode of micromachined vibratory gyroscopes.Specific theoretical deductions are performed to identify a precise linear model of the open loop system of the sense mode,which is crucial for the PI controller design.The frequency responses obtained by experimental tests agree well with those calculated with the theoretical model,indicating the accuracy of the theoretical analyses.Experimental results demonstrate that the bandwidth of the closed loop is extended to 94.8 Hz from 2.3 Hz in the open loop and the quadrature signal is suppressed by about 64 dBV in the closed loop system.The overshoot and stable time in the step response of the closed loop system are measured to be about 15% and 35 ms,respectively.The mode-splitting gyroscope with the closed loop controlled sense mode achieves a scale factor of 41.0 mV/deg/s with nonlinearity of 0.09% and asymmetry of 1%,and a bias instability of 4.0 °/h with angle random walk of 0.171 deg/h1/2. | HE ChunHua ZHAO QianCheng LIU YuXian YANG ZhenChuan YAN GuiZhen | 2013 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2013,56,5: | 10 |
| 3 | Irinotecan plus S-1 versus S-1 in patients with previously treated recurrent or metastatic esophageal cancer(ESWN 01):a prospective randomized,multicenter,open-labeled phase 3 trial显示文摘Background:The benefit of systemic treatments in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)which has pro-gressed after chemotherapy is still uncertain and optimal regimens based on randomized trials have not yet been established.We aimed to compare the efficacy of irinotecan plus S-1 with S-1 monotherapy in recurrent or metastatic ESCC patients who had resistance to platinum-or taxane-based chemotherapy.Methods:We conducted a prospective randomized,multicenter,open-label,phase 3 trial in 15 centers across China.Eligible patients were adults with histologically confirmed recurrent or metastatic ESCC,and were randomly assigned(ratio,1:1)to receive either irinotecan plus S-1(intravenous infusion of irinotecan[160 mg/m2]on day 1 and oral S-1[80-120 mg]on days 1-10,repeated every 14 days)or oral S-1 monotherapy(80-120 mg/day on days 1-14,repeated every 21 days)using a central computerized minimization procedure.The primary endpoint was progression-free survival(PFS).Results:Between December 23,2014 and July 25,2016,we screened 148 patients and randomly assigned 123 patients to receive either irinotecan plus S-1 regimen(n=61)or S-1 monotherapy(n=62).After a median follow-up of 29.2 months(95%confidence interval[CI]17.5-40.9 months),the median PFS was significantly longer in the irinotecan plus S-1 group than in the S-1 monotherapy group(3.8 months[95%CI 2.9-4.3 months]vs.1.7 months[95%CI 1.4-2.7 months],hazard ratio=0.58,95%CI 0.38-0.86,P=0.006).The objective response rates were 24.6%in the irinotecan plus S-1 group and 9.7%in the S-1 monotherapy group(P=0.002).The patients in the irinotecan plus S-1 group presented with increased rates of grade 3-4 leukopenia(16.4%vs.0%),neutropenia(14.8%vs.1.6%),and nausea(4.9%vs.0%).No significant difference in grade 3-4 diarrhea and no treatment-related deaths were observed in both groups.Conclusions: The combination of irinotecan with S-1 was similarly tolerable but significantly prolonged PFS compared to S-1 monotherapy as a second- or third-line treatment in patients with recurrent or metastatic ESCC. | Jing Huang Binghe Xu Ying Liu Junxing Huang Ping Lu Yi Ba Lin Wu Yuxian Bai Shu Zhang Jifeng Feng Ying Cheng Jie Li Lu Wen Xianglin Yuan Changwu Ma Chunhong Hu Qingxia Fan Xi Wang | 2019 | Cancer Communications2019,39,1: | 8 |

| 5 | Pertuzumab in combination with trastuzumab and chemotherapy for Chinese patients with HER2-positive metastatic gastric or gastroesophageal junction cancer:a subpopulation analysis of the JACOB trial显示文摘Background:The JACOB trial(NCT01774786)was a double-blinded,placebo-controlled,randomized,multicenter,international,phase III trial evaluating the efficacy and safety of adding pertuzumab to trastuzumab and chemo-therapy in first-line treatment of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2(HER2)-positive metastatic gastric cancer/gastroesophageal junction cancer(GEJC).The aim of this analysis was to investigate efficacy and safety outcomes in the Chinese subpopulation from the JACOB trial.Methods:This post hoc subpopulation analysis included all patients recruited in China's Mainland(n=163;20.9%)between June 2013 and January 2016.The patients were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to receive pertuzumab plus trastuzumab and chemotherapy(pertuzumab group;n=82)or placebo plus trastuzumab and chemotherapy(con-trol group;n=81).Intravenous pertuzumab(840 mg)and trastuzumab(8 mg/kg loading and 6 mg/kg maintenance doses)were given every 3 weeks until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity.Chemotherapy was given as per standard regimens/doses of capecitabine or 5-fluorouracil plus cisplatin.The primary endpoint was overall survival(OS);secondary efficacy endpoints included progression-free survival(PFS),and overall objective response rate(ORR).Results:The median OS was 18.7 months in the pertuzumab group and 16.1 months in the control group(hazard ratio[HR]0.75;95%confidence interval[CI]0.49 to 1.14).The median PFS was 10.5 and 8.6 months in the pertuzumab and control groups,respectively(HR 0.85;95%CI 0.60 to 1.21),and the median ORRs were 68.9%and 55.7%,respectively.The treatment effect in this Chinese subpopulation showed consistency with that in the global ITT population with numerically lower HR for OS and PFS compared with the control group.The safety profiles of the pertuzumab and control groups in this Chinese subpopulation analysis were generally comparable.The most common grade 3-5adverse events were neutropenia,anemia,and leukopenia.However,due to the nature of being a post hoc subgroup analysis,the results presented here are descriptive only and need to be interpreted with caution.Conclusions:OS and PFS were numerically improved by adding pertuzumab to trastuzumab and chemotherapy as first-line treatment in Chinese HER2-positive gastric cancer/GEJC patients,and this regimen demonstrated an acceptable safety profile. | Tianshu Liu Yanru Qin Jin Li Ruihua Xu Jianming Xu Shujun Yang Shukui Qin Yuxian Bai Changping Wu Yixiang Mao Haiyan Wu Yilin Ge Lin Shen | 2019 | Cancer Communications2019,39,1: | 6 |

| 7 | Characterization of bacterial community dynamics in a full-scale drinking water treatment plant显示文摘Understanding the spatial and temporal dynamics of microbial communities in drinking water systems is vital to securing the microbial safety of drinking water.The objective of this study was to comprehensively characterize the dynamics of microbial biomass and bacterial communities at each step of a full-scale drinking water treatment plant in Beijing,China.Both bulk water and biofilm samples on granular activated carbon(GAC) were collected over 9 months.The proportion of cultivable cells decreased during the treatment processes,and this proportion was higher in warm season than cool season,suggesting that treatment processes and water temperature probably had considerable impact on the R2 A cultivability of total bacteria.16 s rRNA gene based 454 pyrosequencing analysis of the bacterial community revealed that Proteobacteria predominated in all samples.The GAC biofilm harbored a distinct population with a much higher relative abundance of Acidobactena than water samples.Principle coordinate analysis and one-way analysis of similarity indicated that the dynamics of the microbial communities in bulk water and biofilm samples were better explained by the treatment processes rather than by sampling time,and distinctive changes of the microbial communities in water occurred after GAC filtration.Furthermore,20 distinct OTUs contributing most to the dissimilarity among samples of different sampling locations and 6 persistent OTUs present in the entire treatment process flow were identified.Overall,our findings demonstrate the significant effects that treatment processes have on the microbial biomass and community fluctuation and provide implications for further targeted investigation on particular bacteria populations. | Cuiping Li Fangqiong Ling Minglu Zhang Wen-Tso Liu Yuxian Li Wenjun Liu | 2017 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,1: | 5 |
| 8 | Dynamics and interactions of blog-based science communication:A case study of blogging activities in China related to 2011 Japanese seismic and nuclear power crisis显示文摘Purpose:This paper tries to understand the dynamics of scientific communication systems during crises by investigating as a case study the blogging activities that took place during the period of the 2011 earthquake and related events in Japan.Interactions between bloggers and registered users are studied quantitatively and qualitatively at Sciencenet.cn,an influential science-related blogosphere in China.Design/methodology/approach:The editors of Sciencenet.cn compiled a special issue of science blog articles under the title Analysis of the Japanese Earthquake.We developed a spider program and downloaded from this special issue the metadata about title,content,publishing time,total read count,reply count and recommendation count,and further collected information about bloggers and recommenders.We then sent a short message to the bloggers who wrote articles on these emergencies,asking for their educational and professional background.Findings:We found that knowledge reflected in the blog articles is strongly related to the educational and professional background of bloggers.Knowledge diffusion is facilitated by interactions,such as recommendations,comments and answers.Interactions via comments and recommendations are of an assortative nature:A blog article is more likelyto be commented on and recommended by those bloggers who write on the same or similar topics than by those writing on a different one.Registered users tend to give comments on articles dealing with the topic that they recommend,and vice versa.Interaction in the intersection of two or three topics is more intense than that within one topic.The impact of blog articles is also influenced by other factors,such as the reputation of the blogger and the type of information they contain.Implications and limitations:It is confirmed that studying blogs is a valid approach within informetric studies.Yet,we only studied one triple(earthquake,tsunami,nuclear disaster)event based on data originating from one Chinese blog website.More events should be studied.Originality/value:Informetric studies based on blogs are still relatively few.Using science blogs and combining comments on a triple event with the knowledge background of bloggers in China is even less common.As such this contribution enhances our knowledge on this new form of science communication activity. | Yuxian LIU Li LIU Ronald ROUSSEAU Yang YANG | 2013 | Chinese Journal of Library and Information Science2013,,1: | 2 |

| 10 | Cloning and expressional analyses of a cinnamoyl CoA reductase cDNA from rice seedlings显示文摘Cinnamoyl CoA reductase (CCR: EC 1.2.1.44), the entry-point enzyme of the lignin specific biosynthetic pathway, catalyzes the conversion of cinnamoyl CoA esters to their corresponding cinnamaldehydes. Multiple sequence alignment showed that the deduced polypeptide shared 70% similarity and 30% sequence identity at the amino acid level with defined CCR genes from other plant species and they all contain the common signature sequences thought to be the catalytic site as well as the putative NADP binding domain. Using a conserved OsCCR cDNA fragment as the probe for library screening, we isolated the genomic DNA that covered the whole coding region of OsCCR with total length of 3045 bp including 4 introns and 5 exons. The open reading frame for our OsCCR gene contains 337 amino acids. Northern blot indicated that OsCCR was expressed in different organs with the highest level found in stems. In situ hybridization results showed that OsCCR mRNA was localized mainly along the vascular bundles in stems and leaves, and also in lateral roots that was differentiating from the tillering node. We conclude that the vascular-localized expression of OsCCR gene may suggest its possible involvement in lignin biosynthesis. | 11 | Integrating a flipped classroom and problem-based learning into ophthalmology education显示文摘Background: Ophthalmology is an important medical science subject, but it is given with insufficient attention in undergraduate medical education. Flipped classroom(FC) and problem-based learning(PBL) are well-known education methods that can be integrated into ophthalmology education to improve students' competence level and promote active learning. Methods: We used a mixed teaching methodology that integrated a FC and PBL into a 1-week ophthalmology clerkship for 72 fourth-year medical students. The course includes two major sessions: FC session and PBL session, relying on clinical and real-patient cases. Written examinations were set up to assess students' academic performance and questionnaires were designed to evaluate their perceptions. Results: The post-course examination results were higher than the pre-course results, and many students gained ophthalmic knowledge and learning skills to varying levels. Comparison of pre-and post-course questionnaires indicated that interests in ophthalmology increased and more students expressed desires to be eye doctors. Most students were satisfied with the new method, while some suggested the process should be slower and the communication with their teacher needed to strengthen.Conclusions: FC and PBL are complementary methodologies.
