| 3 | Surface Dyakonov-Cherenkov radiation显示文摘Recent advances in engineered material technologies(e.g.,photonic crystals,metamaterials,plasmonics,etc.)provide valuable tools to control Cherenkov radiation.In all these approaches,however,the particle velocity is a key parameter to affect Cherenkov radiation in the designed material,while the influence of the particle trajectory is generally negligible.Here,we report on surface Dyakonov-Cherenkov radiation,i.e.the emission of directional Dyakonov surface waves from a swift charged particle moving atop a birefringent crystal.This new type of Cherenkov radiation is highly susceptible to both the particle velocity and trajectory,e.g.we observe a sharp radiation enhancement when the particle trajectory falls in the vicinity of a particular direction.Moreover,close to the Cherenkov threshold,such a radiation enhancement can be orders of magnitude higher than that obtained in traditional Cherenkov detectors.These distinct properties allow us to determine simultaneously the magnitude and direction of particle velocities on a compact platform.The surface Dyakonov-Cherenkov radiation studied in this work not only adds a new degree of freedom for particle identification,but also provides an all-dielectric route to construct compact Cherenkov detectors with enhanced sensitivity. | Hao Hu Xiao Lin Liang Jie Wong Qianru Yang Dongjue Liu Baile Zhang Yu Luo | 2022 | eLight2022,2,1: | 1 |
| 4 | Therapeutic effects of a novel BAFF blocker on arthritis显示文摘B-cell targeted therapy is effective for autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis(RA),although there are setbacks in RA clinical trials.In this study,we designed a novel B-cell activating factor(BAFF)antagonist:BAFF-Trap,a recombinant glycoprotein with BAFF-binding domains of two BAFF receptors(TACI and Br3)linked to Fc domain of human IgG1.Unlike TACI-Fc,BAFF-Trap bound BAFF but not APRIL(a proliferation-inducing ligand),and significantly suppressed the development of collagen-induced arthritis and adjuvant-induced arthritis.Furthermore,BAFF-Trap inhibited proinflammatory cytokine expression,ameliorated joint damage and suppressed B-and T-cell activation.BAFF-Trap reduced dendritic cells in joints,and increased regulatory T cell,regulatory B-cell,and M2 macrophage.The function of BAFF-Trap was related to inhibition of canonical and noncanonical NF-κB activation.Thus,BAFF-Trap may be a valuable agent for the effective treatment of RA. | Bailing Zhou Hailong Zhang Xiaoqing Su Yi Luo Xiaopeng Li Chaoheng Yu Qibing Xie Xuyang Xia Gu He Li Yang | 2019 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2019,4,1: | 1 |
| 5 | A metamaterial-free fluid-flow cloak显示文摘The model of ide al fluid flow around a cylindrical obstacle exhibits a long-established physical picture,where originally straight streamlines are deflected over the whole space by the obstacle.Inspired by transformation optics and metamaterials,recent theories have proposed the concept of fluid cloaking,which is able to recover the straight streamlines,as if the obstacle did not exist.However,such a cloak,similar to all previous transformation-optics-based devices,relies on complex metamaterials with inhomogeneous parameters and is difficult to implement.Here we deploy the theory of scattering cancellation and report on the experimental realization of a fluid-flow cloak without metamaterials.This clo ak is realized by engineering the geometry of the fluid channel,which effectively cancels the dipole-like scattering of the obstacle.The clo aking effect is demonstrated through the direct observation of recovered straight streamlines in the fluid flow.Our work sheds new light on conventional fluid control and may find application in microfluidic devices. | Fuyang Tay Youming Zhang Hongyi Xu Honghui Goh Yu Luo Baile Zhang | 2022 | National Science Review2022,9,9: | 0 |
| 6 | Meta-Analysis of Polymerase Chain Reaction in the Detection of Human Leptospirosis显示文摘Leptospirosis,a major zoonotic disease widespread in the world,would infect humans and other animals by direct contacting with the soil or water contaminated by the pathogenic leptospires.This report analyzes the accuracy of polymerase chain reaction(PCR)assay used in the detection of leptospira specific genes in humans.Seventeen published articles which included 2526 samples satisfied all inclusion standards and were applied to meta-analysis.Pooled sensitivity and specificity were 0.73(95%CI 0.70-0.76)and 0.94(95%CI 0.93-0.95),respectively.Heterogeneity was statistically significant among studies,but none of the sources for heterogeneity(disease stage,PCR type,targeted genes)could adequately interpret this finding.Meta-regression advised that real-time PCR(qPCR)targeted 16 s rRNA would be the best choice for early detection of cases during the acute stage of the disease and was accounted as a good screening tool in all stages of the disease. | MA Lina MA Ya LUO Bailing MA Bishu YAN Jie LIN Xu'ai | 2020 | Wuhan University Journal of Natural Sciences2020,25,5: | 0 |
