| 1 | Matrine attenuates oxidative stress and cardiomyocyte apoptosis in doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity via maintaining AMPKα/UCP2 pathway显示文摘Oxidative stress and cardiomyocyte apoptosis are involved in the pathogenesis of doxorubicin(DOX)-induced cardiotoxicity. Matrine is well-known for its powerful anti-oxidant and anti-apoptotic capacities. Our present study aimed to investigate the effect of matrine on DOX-induced cardiotoxicity and try to unearth the underlying mechanisms. Mice were exposed with DOX to generate DOX-induced cardiotoxicity or normal saline as control. H9 C2 cells were used to verify the effect of matrine in vitro.DOX injection triggered increased generation of reactive oxygen species(ROS) and excessive cardiomyocyte apoptosis, which were significantly mitigated by matrine. Mechanistically, we found that matrine ameliorated DOX-induced uncoupling protein 2(UCP2) downregulation, and UCP2 inhibition bygenipin could blunt the protective effect of matrine on DOX-induced oxidative stress and cardiomyocyte apoptosis. Besides, 50-AMP-activated protein kinase α2(Ampkα2) deficiency inhibited matrine-mediated UCP2 preservation and abolished the beneficial effect of matrine in mice. Besides, we observed that matrine incubation alleviated DOX-induced H9 C2 cells apoptosis and oxidative stress level via activating AMPKα/UCP2, which were blunted by either AMPKα or UCP2 inhibition with genetic or pharmacological methods. | 3 | LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb dating and phenocryst EPMA of dikes, Guocheng, Jiaodong Peninsula: Implications for North China Craton lithosphere evolution显示文摘Widespread dike swarm, including diorite-, monzonite-porphyry and lamprophyre, intruded in the al- tered breccia gold deposits along basin marginal faults, Guocheng, Jiaodong Peninsula. Petrography exhibits biotite enclaves in amphibole phenocrysts and the presence of acicular apatites in these dikes. Electron probe microanalyses (EPMA) show that the amphibole and clinopyroxene phenocryst’s mantle in diorite porphyry and lamprophyre respectively has sharply higher MgO (Mg#) and Cr2O3 contents in contrast to their cores. The plagioclase phenocryst in monzonite porphyry has reverse zoning. These results indicate that the magma mixing between mantle-derived mafic and crust-derived felsic magmas occurred in the original process of the dikes. Zircon cathodoluminescence (CL) images show well-developed magmatic oscillatory zones and the acquired LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb weighted mean 206Pb/238U ages are 114±2 Ma (MSDW=1.5) for monzonite porphyry (GS1) and 116±1 Ma (MSDW=0.8) for diorite porphyry (GS2), respectively. Earlier magmatic events in the northwest Jiaodong Peninsula represented by some inherited or captured zircons also occur in these dikes. Magmatic zircons from GS1 and GS2 display consistent chondrite-normalized REE patterns and Nb/Ta values, implying that they may share a similar or same source. HREE enrichment and obvious negative Eu anomalies of these zircons preclude garnet presented in their source. Our results, combined with preciously pub- lished data, indicate that dike intrusion and gold mineralization among quartz vein, altered tectonite and altered breccia gold deposits are broadly contemporaneous throughout the Jiaodong Peninsula. | 4 | Transportation characteristics of δ^(13)C in the plants-soil-bedrock-cave system in Chongqing karst area显示文摘Here we use an analytical method to determine δ13C in local plants and organic matter in the soils above Furong cave,Chongqing,China.We also monitored δ13C in dissolved inorganic carbon(DIC) of drip water,δ13C of active deposits under the drip waters,and the concentration of air CO2(PCO2).Based on these,we preliminarily studied the transportation characteristics of stable carbon isotope(13C) in cave system of the subtropical karst area.The average δ13C value of 27 local plant samples,which belong to 16 families,was -32‰ and the weighted δ13C for surface dry biomass was -33‰.We found that for 54 soil samples collected from 5 soil profiles,δ13C of soil organic matters was -22‰,which could be attributed to the different transportation rates of stable carbon isotopes during the decomposition of plants and organic matters in soils.The relatively lighter 12C tended to transfer into gaseous CO2,which made the relatively heavier 13C concentrated in the soils.On the basis of monitoring of DIC-δ13C in drip waters from July 2009 to June 2010,we found that values in winter months were heavier and values in summer months were lighter in general,the reason of which was that in summer months,both the temperature and the humidity were comparatively higher,resulted in more CO2 with lighter δ13C generated from organic matters decomposition and plants respiration.The average DIC -δ13C value was -11‰,about 11‰ heavier than the δ13C of organic matters in soils,which proved that part of DIC in cave drip water was sourced from dissolution of inorganic carbonate(host rock,with heavier δ13C).As for the δ13C of active deposits at five drip water sites in Furong cave,they had almost the same variation with relatively light values.In other words,these active speleothems were deposited at equilibrium conditions for isotopic fractionation.These results suggest that the carbon isotopic information of speleothems could be used to track the evolution of local vegetation in certain situations. | Li TingYong Li HongChun Xiang XiaoJing Kuo Tz-Shing Li JunYun Zhou FuLi Chen HongLi Peng LingLi | 2012 | Science China Earth Sciences2012,55,4: | 18 |
| 5 | Preliminary results of FeO mapping using Imaging Interferometer data from Chang'E-1显示文摘Information about the variability,and spatial distribution of iron abundance is important to understand lunar geological history and for future resource utilization. In this paper we present a preliminary model to produce an iron abundance map using images taken by an Imaging Interferometer on board the satellite Chang'E-1. Compared with the Clementine UVVIS images,the images from the Chang'E-1 satellite also allowed for the extraction of FeO abundance distributions on the Moon. | 6 | Structure and photocatalytic properties of TiO_2-Graphene Oxide intercalated composite显示文摘TiO2-Graphene Oxide intercalated composite (TiO2-Graphene Oxide) has been successfully prepared at low temperature (80°C) with graphite oxide (GO) and titanium sulfate (Ti(SO4)2) as initial reactants.GO was firstly exfoliated by NaOH and formed single and multi-layered graphite oxide mixture which can be defined as graphene oxide,[TiO]2+ induced by the hydrolysis of Ti(SO4)2 diffused into graphene oxide interlayer by electrostatic attraction.The nucleation and growth of TiO2 crystallites took place at low temperature and TiO2-Graphene Oxide composite was successfully synthesized.Furthermore,the photocatalytic properties of TiO2-Graphene Oxide under the irradiation of UV light were also studied.The results show that the degradation rate of methyl orange is 1.16 mg min-1 g-1(refer to the efficiency of the initial 15 min).Compared with P25 powder,this kind of intercalation composite owns much better efficiency.On the other hand,the reusable properties and stable properties of TiO2-Graphene Oxide intercalated composite are also discussed in this paper.At last,crystalline structure,interface status,thermal properties and microscopic structure of TiO2-Graphene Oxide were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS),thermogravimetric analysis (TGA),field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and high-resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (HRTEM).Also,we have analyzed major influencing factors and mechanism of the composite structures which evidently improve the photocatalytic properties. | ZHANG Qiong HE YunQiu CHEN XiaoGang HU DongHu LI LinJiang YIN Ting JI LingLi | 2011 | Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,3: | 14 |

| 8 | Application of bioactive hydrogels combined with dental pulp stem cells for the repair of large gap peripheral nerve injuries显示文摘Due to the limitations in autogenous nerve grafting or Schwann cell transplantation,large gap peripheral nerve injuries require a bridging strategy supported by nerve conduit.Cell based therapies provide a novel treatment for peripheral nerve injuries.In this study,we first experimented an optimal scaffold material synthesis protocol,from where we selected the 10%GFD formula(10%GelMA hydrogel,recombinant human basic fibroblast growth factor and dental pulp stem cells(DPSCs))to fill a cellulose/soy protein isolate composite membrane(CSM)tube to construct a third generation of nerve regeneration conduit,CSM-GFD.Then this CSM-GFD conduit was applied to repair a 15-mm long defect of sciatic nerve in a rat model.After 12 week post implant surgery,at histologic level,we found CSM-GFD conduit could regenerate nerve tissue like neuron and Schwann like nerve cells and myelinated nerve fibers.At physical level,CSM-GFD achieved functional recovery assessed by a sciatic functional index study.In both levels,CSM-GFD performed like what gold standard,the nerve autograft,could do.Further,we unveiled that almost all newly formed nerve tissue at defect site was originated from the direct differentiation of exogeneous DPSCs in CSM-GFD.In conclusion,we claimed that this third-generation nerve regeneration conduit,CSM-GFD,could be a promising tissue engineering approach to replace the conventional nerve autograft to treat the large gap defect in peripheral nerve injuries. | Lihua Luo Yan He Ling Jin Yanni Zhang Fernando P.Guastaldi Abdullkhaleg A.Albashari Fengting Hu Xiaoyan Wang Lei Wang Jian Xiao Lingli Li Jianming Wang Akon Higuchi Qingsong Ye | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,3: | 11 |

| 10 | Plate tectonic control on the formation and tectonic migration of Cenozoic basins in northern margin of the South China Sea显示文摘The tectonic evolution history of the South China Sea(SCS) is important for understanding the interaction between the Pacific Tectonic Domain and the Tethyan Tectonic Domain,as well as the regional tectonics and geodynamics during the multi-plate convergence in the Cenozoic.Several Cenozoic basins formed in the northern margin of the SCS,which preserve the sedimentary tectonic records of the opening of the SCS.Due to the spatial non-uniformity among different basins,a systematic study on the various basins in the northern margin of the SCS constituting the Northern Cenozoic Basin Group(NCBG) is essential.Here we present results from a detailed evaluation of the spatial-temporal migration of the boundary faults and primary unconformities to unravel the mechanism of formation of the NCBG.The NCBG is composed of the Beibu Gulf Basin(BBGB),Qiongdongnan Basin(QDNB),Pearl River Mouth Basin(PRMB) and Taixinan Basin(TXNB).Based on seismic profiles and gravity-magnetic anomalies,we confirm that the NE-striking onshore boundary faults propagated into the northern margin of the SCS.Combining the fault slip rate,fault combination and a comparison of the unconformities in different basins,we identify NE-striking rift composed of two-stage rifting events in the NCBG:an early-stage rifting(from the Paleocene to the Early Oligocene) and a late-stage rifting(from the Late Eocene to the beginning of the Miocene).Spatially only the late-stage faults occurs in the western part of the NCBG(the BBGB,the QDNB and the western PRMB),but the early-stage rifting is distributed in the whole NCBG.Temporally,the early-stage rifting can be subdivided into three phases which show an eastward migration,resulting in the same trend of the primary unconformities and peak faulting within the NCBG.The late-stage rifting is subdivided into two phases,which took place simultaneously in different basins.The first and second phase of the early-stage rifting is related to back-arc extension of the Pacific subduction retreat system.The third phase of the earlystage rifting resulted from the joint effect of slab-pull force due to southward subduction of the proto-SCS and the back-arc extension of the Pacific subduction retreat system.In addition,the first phase of the late-stage faulting corresponds with the combined effect of the post-collision extension along the Red River Fault and slab-pull force of the proto-SCS subduction.The second phase of the late-stage faulting fits well with the sinistral faulting of the Red River Fault in response to the Indochina Block escape tectonics and the slab-pull force of the proto-SCS. | Pengcheng Wang Sanzhong Li Yanhui Suo Lingli Guo Guangzeng Wang Gege Hui M.Santosh Ian D.Somerville Xianzhi Cao Yang Li | 2020 | Geoscience Frontiers2020,11,4: | 10 |

| 12 | Wheat powdery mildew resistance gene Pm64 derived from wild emmer (Triticum turgidum var.dicoccoides) is tightly linked in repulsion with stripe rust resistance gene Yr5显示文摘Stripe rust and powdery mildew are both devastating diseases for durum and common wheat.Pyramiding of genes conferring resistance to one or more diseases in a single cultivar is an important breeding approach to provide broader spectra of resistances in wheat improvement. A new powdery mildew resistance gene originating from wild emmer(Triticum turgidum var.dicoccoides) backcrossed into common wheat(T. aestivum) line WE35 was identified. It conferred an intermediate level of resistance to Blumeria graminis f. sp. tritici isolate E09 at the seedling stage and a high level of resistance at the adult plant stage. Genetic analysis showed that the powdery mildew resistance in WE35 was controlled by a dominant gene designated Pm64. Bulked segregant analysis(BSA) and molecular mapping indicated that Pm64 was located in chromosome bin 2 BL4-0.50–0.89. Polymorphic markers were developed from the corresponding genomic regions of Chinese Spring wheat and wild emmer accession Zavitan to delimit Pm64 to a 0.55 cM genetic interval between markers WGGBH1364 and WGGBH612, corresponding to a 15 Mb genomic region on Chinese Spring and Zavitan 2 BL, respectively. The genetic linkage map of Pm64 is critical for fine mapping and cloning. Pm64 was completely linked in repulsion with stripe rust resistance gene Yr5. | 14 | Physicochemical Control of the Early Permian Xiangshan Fe-Ti Oxide Deposit in Eastern Tianshan(Xinjiang),NW China显示文摘The Xiangshan mafic-ultramafic complex is one of the major Early Permian mafic-ultramafic intrusions in eastern Tianshan(Xinjiang, NW China), and consists of two major intrusive phases. The first intrusive phase is mainly gabbroic rocks hosting ilmenite mineralization, while the second intrusive phase is mainly lherzoilite associated with Ni-Cu sulfide mineralization. The Xiangshan ilmenite orebodies hosted in the Fe-Ti oxide-bearing gabbro occur along the contact between hornblende gabbros and leucogabbros. The hornblende gabbros and Fe-Ti oxide rich gabbros at Xiangshan are newly dated to be Early Permian(280.1 and 279.2 Ma, respectively). Major and trace element compositions of zircons and whole rocks from Xiangshan hornblende gabbro and Fe-Ti oxide gabbro have been measured by in situ excimer laser ablation ICP-MS. Zircon Ce^(4+)/Ce^(3+) ratios based on lattice-strain model and Ti-in-zircon temperatures of hornblende gabbro and Fe-Ti oxide gabbro of the Xiangshan complex are calculated to evaluate the physicochemical variations during the ilmenite mineralization. Whole-rock geochemistry and zircon trace element geochemistry suggest that Fe-Ti oxide gabbros were formed from a basaltic parent magma which had undergone a transfromation from being H_2O-rich to H_2O-poor. During the magmatic evolution, primitive, H_2O-poor basaltic melts may have been replenished into the system, increasing its solidus temperature and decreasing its oxygen fugacity and H_2O contents. The later ophiolites and I-type granites associated with subduction of the Paleo-Pacific Plate in the Late Triassic, suggest a transition from passive to active continental margins. With the presence of the ongoing westward migration of the Paleo-Pacific Subduction Zone, the sinistral transpressional stress field could play an important role in the intraplate deformation in East Asia during the Late Triassic to Middle Jurassic, being characterized by the transition from the E-W-trending structural system controlled by the Tethys and Paleo-Asian oceans to the NE-trending structural system caused by the Paleo-Pacific Ocean subduction. The continuously westward migration of the subduction zones resulted in the transpressional stress field in East Asia marked by the emergence of the Eastern North China Plateau and the formation of the Andean-type active continental margin from late Late Jurassic to Early Cretaceous(160-135 Ma), accompanied by the development of a small amount of adakites. In the Late Cretaceous(135-90 Ma), due to the eastward retreat of the Paleo-Pacific Subduction Zone, the regional stress field was replaced from sinistral transpression to transtension. Since a large amount of late-stage adakites and metamorphic core complexes developed, the Andean-type active continental margin was destroyed and the Eastern North China Plateau started to collapse. In the Late Cretaceous, the extension in East Asia gradually decreased the eastward retreat of the Paleo-Pacific subduction zones. Futhermore, a significant topographic inversion had taken place during the Cenozoic that resulted from a rapid uplift of the Tibet Plateau resulting from the India-Eurasian collision and the formation of the Bohai Bay Basin and other basins in the East Asian continental margin. The inversion caused a remarkable eastward migration of deformation, basin formation and magmatism. Meanwhile, the basins that mainly developed in the Paleogene resulted in a three-step topography which typically appears to drop eastward in altitude. In the Neogene, the basins underwent a rapid subsidence in some depressions after basin-controlled faulting, as well as the intracontinental extensional events in East Asia, and are likely to be a contribution to the uplift of the Tibetan Plateau. | DMITRIENKO Liudmila V. The results show that when aging at 1000,1080 and 1140°C for different times,the relation of average particle size to time obeys the cube law ( a /2)3= kt,where k is 15.49 × 103,77.5 × 103 and 230.04 × 103 nm3/min,respectively. The particle size distributions are better fit to the LSW theoretical distributions when aging at 1000°C within 1440 min. The activation energy for γ' particles coarsening is determined to be 288.20±1.79 kJ/mol,which correlates well to the diffusion activation energies of Al,Ti,and Nb in the nickel matrix. This indicates that the coarsening of γ' particles is controlled by the diffusion of Al,Ti,and Nb in the nickel matrix. | 18 | Protein adsorption onto diethylaminoethyl dextran modified anion exchanger:Effect of ionic strength and column behavior显示文摘Our previous studies on bovine serum albumin(BSA) adsorption to diethylaminoethyl dextran(DEAE dextran,DexD, grafting-ligand) and DEAE(D, surface-ligand) modified Sepharose FF resins found that all the grafted resins(FF-DexD and FF-D-DexD) exhibited extremely fast uptake rate(effective diffusivity, D_e, D_e/D_O> 1.4),which was six times greater than the ungrafted resins(D_e/D_O < 0.3). In this work, the influence of ionic strength(IS) on 6 typical DEAE dextran-grafted resins was investigated. Bath adsorption equilibria and kinetics, breakthrough, and linear gradient elution experiments were conducted. Commercial DEAE Sepharose FF was used for comparison. It is found that protein adsorption capacities on DEAE dextran-FF resins and the commercial resin decreased with increasing IS, but DEAE dextran-FF resins exhibited much higher capacity sensitivity to salt concentration. Besides, steeper decrease of adsorption capacities could be obtained at higher graftingligand or surface-ligand density. It is worth noting that the facilitating role of surface-ligand to the 'chain delivery' effect was weakened after adding salt, leading to the less improvement in uptake rate by increasing surface-ligand density at higher IS. Although the uptake rates of the DEAE dextran-FF resins increased first and then decreased with increasing IS, they kept the extremely high level of De values(D_e/D_O > 1.1) at the their working/binding IS range. Moreover, the DEAE dextran-FF resin displayed much higher adsorption capacities and De values than commercial ungrafted resin in their working condition. Furthermore, the column results of DEAE dextran-FF resins presented higher dynamic binding capacities than and similar elution ISs with DEAE Sepharose FF to achieve similar(or even higher) recoveries suggest the excellent chromatographic column performance of the DEAE dextran-FF resins. Finally, both high recovery and purity of BSA and γ-globulin could be easily achieved using the typical DEAE dextran-FF column, FF-D60-DexD160, to separate their binary mixtures,by step gradient elution. | 20 | Molecular genetic and genomic analysis of wheat milling and end-use traits in China:Progress and perspectives显示文摘Wheat is the most widely cultivated staple food crop, and multiple types of food derivatives are processed and consumed globally. Wheat grain quality(WGQ) is central to food processing and nutritional value, and is a decisive factor for consumer acceptance and commercial value of wheat cultivars. Hence, improvement in WGQ traits is top priority for both conventional and molecular wheat breeding. In this review we will focus on two important WGQ traits, grain milling and end-use, and will summarize recent progress in China. Chinese scientists have invested substantial effort in molecular genetic and genomic analysis of these traits and their effects on end-use properties. The insights and resources generated have contributed to the understanding and improvement of these traits. As high-quality genomics information and powerful genome engineering tools are becoming available for wheat, more fundamental breakthroughs in dissecting the molecular and genomic basis of WGQ are expected.
