1Combined effects of snow depth and nitrogen addition on ephemeral growth at the southern edge of the Gurbantunggut Desert,China显示文摘Water and nitrogen(N) inputs are considered as the two main limiting factors affecting plant growth.Changes in these inputs are expected to alter the structure and composition of the plant community,thereby influencing biodiversity and ecosystem function.Snowfall is a form of precipitation in winter,and snow melting can recharge soil water and result in a flourish of ephemerals during springtime in the Gurbantunggut Desert,ChinaA bi-factor experiment was designed and deployed during the snow-covering season from 2009 to 2010.The experiment aimed to explore the effects of different snow-covering depths and N addition levels on ephemerals.Findings indicated that deeper snow cover led to the increases in water content in topsoil as well as density and coverage of ephemeral plants in the same N treatment;by contrast,N addition sharply decreased the density of ephemerals in the same snow treatment.Meanwhile,N addition exhibited a different effect on the growth of ephemeral plants:in the 50% snow treatment,N addition limited the growth of ephemeral plants,showing that the height and the aboveground biomass of the ephemeral plants were lower than in those without N addition;while with the increases in snow depth(100% and 150% snow treatments),N addition benefited the growth of the dominant individual plants.Species richness was not significantly affected by snow in the same N treatment.However,N addition significantly decreased the species richness in the same snow-covering depth.The primary productivity of ephemerals in the N addition increased with the increase of snow depth.These variations indicated that the effect of N on the growth of ephemerals was restricted by water supply.With plenty of water(100% and 150% snow treatments),N addition contributed to the growth of ephemeral plants;while with less water(50% snow treatment),N addition restricted the growth of ephemeral plants.LianLian FAN Yan LI LiSong TANG Jian MA 2013Journal of Arid Land2013,5,4:19
2Genome-wide analysis of NDR1/HIN1-like genes in pepper(Capsicum annuum L.)and functional characterization of CaNHL4 under biotic and abiotic stresses显示文摘Plant NDR1/HIN1-like(NHL)genes play an important role in triggering plant defenses in response to biotic stresses.In this study,we performed a genome-wide identification of the NHL genes in pepper(Capsicum annuum L.)and characterized the functional roles of these CaNHL genes in response to abiotic stresses and infection by different pathogens.Phylogenetic analysis revealed that CaNHLs can be classified into five distinct subgroups,with each group containing generic and specific motifs.Regulatory element analysis showed that the majority of the promoter regions of the identified CaNHLs contain jasmonic acid(JA)-responsive and salicylic acid(SA)-responsive elements,and transcriptomic analysis revealed that CaNHL genes are expressed in all the examined tissues of pepper.The CaNHL1,CaNHL4,CaNHL6,CaNHL10,CaNHL11,and CaNHL12 genes were significantly upregulated under abiotic stress as well as in response to different pathogens,such as TMV,Phytophthora capsici and Pseudomonas syringae.In addition,we found that CaNHL4 localizes to the plasma membrane.CaNHL4-silenced pepper plants display significantly increased susceptibility to TMV,Phytophthora capsici and Pseudomonas syringae,exhibiting reduced expression of JA-related and SA-related genes and reduced ROS production.However,transient overexpression of CaNHL4 in pepper increases the expression of JArelated and SA-related genes,enhances the accumulation of ROS,and inhibits the infection of these three pathogens.Collectively,for the first time,we identified the NHL genes in pepper and demonstrated that CaNHL4 is involved in the production of ROS and that it also regulates the expression of JA-related and SA-related genes in response to different pathogens,suggesting that members of the CaNHL family play an essential role in the disease resistance of pepper.Changyun Liu Haoran Peng Xinyu Li Chaolong Liu Xing Lv Xuefeng Wei Aihong Zou Jian Zhang Guangjin Fan Guanhua Ma Lisong Ma Xianchao Sun 2020Horticulture Research2020,7,1:2
3CH_4 oxidation to oxygenates with N_2O over iron-containing Y zeolites:Effect of preparation显示文摘Developing effective iron-incorporated zeolites and determining their active centers for the direct oxidation of CH_4 to oxygenates have remained challenging topics so far.In this paper,we successfully prepare the highly-dispersed iron supported Y zeolites by a facile solid-state ion-exchange method with ferrocene,which was conducted under water-free conditions followed by a series of calcination.Moreover,extra-framework dinuclear Fe^(2+)complexes are identified as so-called activeα-iron sites on zeolites.ICP-OES,N_2 adsorption–desorption test,X-ray diffraction,solid-state^(27)Al NMR,N_2O titration,TEM,EPR and^(57)Fe M?ssbauer spectra were carried out to characterize properties of sample structure,acid sites,as well as the supported iron species.Characterization results indicate that high-temperature treatments have no effect on the typical structure feature of zeolites.Compared with catalysts synthesized by conventional impregnation,the samples prepared by the facile approach possess abundant dinuclear Fe^(2+)complexes but no Fe_2O_3 bulks and show weak acidity.These lead to a higher oxygenate selectivity in CH_4 oxidation to oxygenates.Remarkably,the oxygenate(HCHO and CH_3OH)selectivity of 6.5% at 375°C can be eventually obtained.Jing Zhu Lisong Fan Lina Song Fengqiu Chen Dangguo Cheng 2018Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2018,26,10:1
4Influence of extra-framework Al in Fe-MOR catalysts for the direct conversion of methane to oxygenates by nitrous oxide显示文摘Iron-containing zeolites play an important role in the selective oxidation of methane to oxygenates by nitrous oxide.A solid-state ion exchange method is adopted to prepare Fe-MOR zeolite catalysts with different amounts of extra-framework Al.EPR spectra and UV-vis spectra show that the percentage of iron ions in tetrahedral or octahedral coordination increases while those of clustered Fe species decrease by the addition of extra-framework Al species.Nitrous oxide titration reveals that more active Fe centers are formed,which promote the nitrous oxide consumption.The number of active centers in the catalyst with the introduction of extra-framework Al is about four times that of the catalyst without the addition of extra-framework Al.Due to this,there is an increase in the methane conversion,total selectivity and yield of oxygenates.Shenglai Li Lisong Fan Lina Song Dangguo Cheng Fengqiu Chen 2021Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2021,34,5:0

6Comparative transcriptome analysis revealed the influence of sucrose on flavor and taste quality of Coffea arabica and C.canephora varieties显示文摘Coffea arabica(Arabica)and C.canephora(Robusta)are the most popular coffee species in the world,accounting for 99%of overall consumption of coffee beans.Arabica generally possesses better coffee quality than Robusta partly due its higher sucrose content.The flavor and taste(FT)of coffee,as important aspects of coffee quality,are mainly affected by the content of caffeine,phenolic acid and terpenoid compounds,which use sucrose as an important precursor.However,how sucrose affects the coffee FT remains unclear.In this study,coffee beans at different developmental stages from Arabica#161(A161,high-sucrose variety)and Robusta#6(R6,low-sucrose variety)were sampled to perform transcriptomic analysis.Most differentially expressed genes(DEGs)between them were enriched in sucrose-related metabolisms and the FTrelated metabolism processes:caffeine biosynthesis,phenylpropanoid and flavonoid pathway,terpenoid metabolism.Thirty-four candidate DEGs probably contributed to the higher content of sucrose,anthocyanin and linalool in A161,and higher content of caffeine and carotenoid in R6.Generally,sucrose-related metabolisms were strongly associated with FT-related substance accumulation.The content of sucrose and its influence on the downstream secondary metabolism probably play important roles in the FT quality of coffee beans.Our results provide efficient targets for investigation regarding the influence of sucrose on FT quality of coffee beans.Lifang Huang Lisong Hu Yu Fan Xiaoyang Wang Yunping Dong Fupeng Li Yuzhou Long Lin Yan Jie Meng 2021Beverage Plant Research2021,1,1:0
7Angioarchitecture and prognosis of pediatric intracranial pial arteriovenous fistula显示文摘Objective Pial arteriovenous fistulas(PAVFs)are rare and mostly observed in children.However,the overall angioarchitecture,clinical features,treatments and long-term prognosis for pediatric patients remain unclear.Methods Clinical data of consecutive 42 pediatric PAVFs were documented and analysed.According to the differences of age distribution and clinical features,they were split into a younger group(≤3 years old;20 cases)and an older group(3-14 years old;22 cases).Results Their mean age was 4.9±3.9 years,and the mean preoperative modified Rankin Scale(mRS)score was 1.64±1.57.Fourteen patients(33.3%)were asymptomatic,followed by epilepsy(21.4%),intracranial haemorrhage(16.7%),hydrocephalus(9.5%),developmental delay(7.1%),intermittent headache(7.1%)and congestive heart failure(4.8%).Annual bleeding rate and rebleeding rate before treatment reached 3.86%and 3.17%.Poor venous drainage including sinus dynamic obstruction(21 cases,50.0%)and sinus occlusion(17 cases,40.48%)were found with high frequency among these patients.Finally,33 cases were cured(78.57%),and 4 cases faced surgery-related complications(9.52%).During 24-140 months’follow-up,the mean mRS score reduced to 0.57±0.40.However,only 22 cases(52.38%)recovered to absolutely normal,and poor venous drainage was the risk factor for patients’incomplete recovery(p=0.028,Exp(B)=14.692,95%CI 1.346 to 160.392).Compared with the older group,younger group showed more chronic symptoms,more secondary pathological changes,more times treatment and worse prognosis(p=0.013,0.002,0.000 and 0.032,respectively).Conclusions Pediatric PAVF has different angioarchitectures,clinical features and prognoses in different age groups.Poor venous drainage is an important factor leading to poor prognosis,and it accounts for incomplete recovery in nearly half of patients.Jingwei Li Zhenlong Ji Jiaxing Yu Jian Ren Fan Yang Lisong Bian Xinglong Zhi Guilin Li Hongqi Zhang 2023Stroke & Vascular Neurology2023,8,4:0
