1High-entropy ceramics:Present status,challenges,and a look forward显示文摘High-entropy ceramics (HECs) are solid solutions of inorganic compounds with one or more Wyckoff sites shared by equal or near-equal atomic ratios of multi-principal elements.Although in the infant stage,the emerging of this new family of materials has brought new opportunities for material design and property tailoring.Distinct from metals,the diversity in crystal structure and electronic structure of ceramics provides huge space for properties tuning through band structure engineering and phonon engineering.Aside from strengthening,hardening,and low thermal conductivity that have already been found in high-entropy alloys,new properties like colossal dielectric constant,super ionic conductivity,severe anisotropic thermal expansion coefficient,strong electromagnetic wave absorption,etc.,have been discovered in HECs.As a response to the rapid development in this nascent field,this article gives a comprehensive review on the structure features,theoretical methods for stability and property prediction,processing routes,novel properties,and prospective applications of HECs.The challenges on processing,characterization,and property predictions are also emphasized.Finally,future directions for new material exploration,novel processing,fundamental understanding,in-depth characterization,and database assessments are given.Huimin XIANG Yan XING Fu-zhi DAI Hongjie WANG Lei SU Lei MIAO Guojun ZHANG Yiguang WANG Xiwei QI Lei YAO Hailong WANG Biao ZHAO Jianqiang LI Yanchun ZHOU 2021Journal of Advanced Ceramics2021,10,3:28
2Changing patterns and survival improvements of young breast cancer in China and SEER database, 1999-2017显示文摘Objective: Breast cancer in young females was usually considered more aggressive and requires aggressive therapy. We investigated whether early detection and improved treatments changed the patterns of characteristics,management and outcomes of young breast cancer patients over time.Methods: Females under 40 years of age diagnosed with breast cancer during the periods 1999-2017 and1999-2015 were identified in the Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center(FUSCC) and the population-based Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results(SEER) registry, respectively. Clinicopathologic characteristics and treatment information were collected. Patients diagnosed before 2013 were followed up.Results: The proportions of young breast cancer patients were 15.0% and 5.3% in the FUSCC and SEER cohorts, respectively. In the FUSCC cohort, there was a significant increase in the proportion of ductal carcinoma in situ(DCIS)(from 8.8% to 16.9%;P<0.0001) and it remained stable in SEER cohort. The proportion of T1-stage tumors increased dramatically in the FUSCC cohort(from 35.3% to 41.9%;P=0.008), whereas it decreased in SEER cohort(from 42.4% to 33.0%;P<0.0001). The percentage of estrogen receptor(ER)-positive cancers was consistently increased in both the invasive ductal carcinoma(IDC) and DCIS patients in the two cohorts. Breastconserving surgery and immediate implant reconstruction after mastectomy both exhibited increased use over time in the FUSCC cohort. Both the FUSCC and SEER cohorts showed a significantly better prognosis in the recent time period.Conclusions: With the increased early-stage and ER-positive diseases in young patients as well as better systemic treatment strategies, improved survival has been observed in recent years. 5A review of the phytochemistry and pharmacological activities of Ephedra herb显示文摘Ephedra herb is a traditional Chinese medicine with a long history. Conventionally, it was used as a folk phytomedicine in many ancient medical books and traditional prescriptions. Up to date, a variety of specific ingredients have been found in Ephedra herb, mainly including alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, polysaccharides, organic acids, volatile oils, and many other active compounds. These components from Ephedra herb account for its use as the accurate treatment of cold, cough, cardiovascular and immune system disease, cancer, microbial infection, and other diseases. Moreover, with the fast development of novel chemistry and medicine technology, new chemical constituents and pharmacological effects of Ephedra herb are increasingly identified, demonstrating their great potential for various diseases treatment. Therefore, further detailed understanding and investigation of this ancient herb will offer new opportunities to develop novel therapeutics. 6Salvianolate Reduces Murine Myocardial Ischemia and Reperfusion Injury via ERK1/2 Signaling Pathways in vivo显示文摘Objective:To analyze the effects of salvianolate on myocardial infarction in a murine in vivo model of ischemia and reperfusion(l/R) injury.Methods:Myocardial l/R injury model was constructed in mice by 30 min of coronary occlusion followed by 24 h of reperfusion and pretreated with salvianolate 30 min before l/R(SAL group).The SAL group was compared with SHAM(no l/R and no salvianolate),l/R(no salvianolate),and ischemia preconditioning(IPC) groups.Furthermore,an ERK1/2 inhibitor PD98059(1 mg/kg),and a phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase(PI3-K) inhibitor,LY294002(7.5 mg/kg),were administered intraperitoneal injection(i.p) for 30 min prior to salvianolate,followed by l/R surgery in LY and PD groups.By using a double staining method,the ratio of the infarct size(IS) to left ventricle(LV) and of risk region(RR) to LV were compared among the groups.Correlations between IS and RR were analyzed.Western-blot was used to detect the extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2(ERK1/2) and protein kinase B(AKT) phosphorylation changes.Results:There were no significant differences between RR to LV ratio among the SHAM,l/R,IPC and SAL groups(P>0.05).The SAL and IPC groups had IS of 26.1%± 1.4%and 22.3%±2.9%of RR,respectively,both of which were significantly smaller than the l/R group(38.5%±2.9%of RR,P<0.05,P<0.01,respectively).Moreover,the phosphorylation of ERK1/2 was increased in SAL group(P<0.05),while AKT had no significant change.LY294002 further reduced IS,whereas the protective role of salvianolate could be attenuated by PD98059,which increased the IS.Additionally,the IS was not linearly related to the RR(r=0.23,0.45,0.62,0.17,and 0.52 in the SHAM,l/R,SAL,LY and PD groups,respectively).Conclusion:Salvianolate could reduce myocardial l/R injury in mice in vivo,which involves an ERK1/2 pathway,but not a PI3-K signaling pathway.QI Jian-yong YU Juan HUANG Dong-hui GUO Li-heng WANG Lei HUANG Xin HUANG Hai-ding ZHOU Miao ZHANG Min-zhou Jiashin Wu 2017Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2017,23,1:14
7Impact of Cardiovascular Disease Deaths on Life Expectancy in Chinese Population显示文摘Objective We aimed to analyze the impact of cardiovascular disease(CVD) deaths on life expectancy(LE) in Chinese population and estimate the percentage reduction in CVD mortality needed to increase LE by 1 year from the current level, a national target of health improvement. Methods We used life tables, cause-elimination life tables, and age decomposition of LE with corrected mortality data from the National Disease Surveillance System in 2010. Results LE at birth of Chinese people was 73.24 years in 2010. Women had a longer LE than men, and urban population had a longer LE than rural population. CVD deaths resulted in a 4.79-year LE loss and premature deaths in people aged 25 to 64 years were responsible for a substantial part of LE loss from CVD. Death from ischemic heart disease and cerebrovascular diseases accounted for 69.2% of LE loss from CVD deaths and death from cerebrovascular diseases was the largest contributor. In rural men, 51.1% LE loss from CVD deaths was caused by cerebrovascular diseases. If there were no changes in mortality rates for all other diseases, a 27.4% reduction in CVD mortality would increase LE by 1 year in Chinese population. Conclusion There is a considerable impact of CVD deaths on LE. A 1-year LE increase in the future requires at least a 27.4% reduction in CVD mortality from the current level. 8Performance of transient elastography in assessing liver fibrosis in patients with autoimmune hepatitis-primary biliary cholangitis overlap syndrome显示文摘AIM To investigate the performance of transient elastography(TE) for diagnosis of fibrosis in patients with autoimmune hepatitis-primary biliary cholangitis(AIHPBC) overlap syndrome.METHODS A total of 70 patients with biopsy-proven AIH-PBC overlap syndrome were included. Spearman correlation test was used to analyze the correlation of liver stiffness measurement(LSM) and fibrosis stage. Independent samples Student's t-test or one-way analysis of variance was used to compare quantitative variables. Receiver operating characteristics(ROC) curve was used to calculate the optimal cut-off values of LSM for predicting individual fibrosis stages. A comparison on the diagnostic accuracy for severe fibrosis was made between LSM and other serological scores.RESULTS Patients with AIH-PBC overlap syndrome had higher median LSM than healthy controls(11.3 ± 6.4 k Pa vs 4.3 ± 1.4 k Pa, P < 0.01). LSM was significantly correlated with fibrosis stage(r = 0.756, P < 0.01). LSM values increased gradually with an increased fibrosis stage. The areas under the ROC curves of LSM for stages F ≥ 2, F ≥ 3, and F4 were 0.837(95%CI: 0.729-0.914), 0.910(0.817-0.965), and 0.966(0.893-0.995), respectively. The optimal cut-off values of LSM for fibrosis stages F ≥ 2, F ≥ 3, and F4 were 6.55, 10.50, and 14.45 k Pa, respectively. 10SHRIMP zircon U-Pb dating of the Gangou granitoids,Central Tianshan Mountains,Northwest China and tectonic significances显示文摘Two types of granitoids,highly deformed augen granitoids and undeformed fine-grained granitoids,are widely distributed in Gangou area,Central Tianshan Mountains,Northwest China. The augen granitoids are high-K calc-alkaline characterized by high K2O,Rb,Y and Th,and low Sr and Sr/Y. They also have high contents of large ion lithophile elements (LILE),such as Ba,Rb,K and Th,and relatively low con-tents of high field strength elements (HFSE),such as Zr,Y and Nb. The fine-grained granitoids are calc-alkaline characterized by high Sr,low Y and HREE,similar to adakitic rocks,and with Na2O/K2O<2 (1.76―1.91),high ISr (0.70689―0.70981),and negative εNd(t ) (-2.4―-5.3). High-precision SHRIMP U-Pb zircon dating results indicate that the Gangou augen granitiods were formed at 428 ± 10 Ma,and the fine-grained granitoids were emplaced at 361―368 Ma. 12Metrnl deficiency decreases blood HDL cholesterol and increases blood triglyceride显示文摘Dyslipidemia is a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes.Several adipokines play important roles in modulation of blood lipids.Metrnl is a recently identified adipokine,and adipose Metrnl participates in regulation of blood triglyceride(TG).In this study,we generated Metrnl global,intestine-specific and liver-specific knockout mice,and explored the effects of Metrnl on serum lipid parameters.Global knockout of Metrnl had no effects on serum lipid parameters under normal chow diet,but increased blood TG by 14%,and decreased total cholesterol(TC)by 16%and high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)by 24%under high fat diet.Nevertheless,intestine-specific knockout of Metrnl did not alter the serum lipids parameters under normal chow diet or high fat diet.Notably,liver-specific knockout of Metrnl decreased HDL-C by 24%,TC by 20%and low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)by 16%without alterations of blood TG and nonesterified fatty acids(NEFA)under high fat diet.But deficiency of Metrnl in liver did not change VLDL secretion and expression of lipid synthetic and metabolic genes.We conclude that tissue-specific Metrnl controls different components of blood lipids.In addition to modulation of blood TG by adipose Metrnl,blood HDL-C is regulated by liver Metrnl.Qi Qi Wen-jun Hu Si-li Zheng Sai-long Zhang Ying-ying Le Zhi-yong Li Chao-yu Miao 2020Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2020,41,12:9

14Zika virus infection induces RNAi-mediated antiviral immunity in human neural progenitors and brain organoids显示文摘The re-emergence of Zika virus(ZIKV)in the Western Hemisphere has resulted in global public health crisis since 2015.ZIKV preferentially infects and targets human neural progenitor cells(hNPCs)and causes fetal microcephaly upon maternal infection.hNPCs not only play critical roles during fetal brain development,but also persist in adult brain throughout life.Yet the mechanism of innate antiviral immunity in hNPCs remains largely unknown.Here,we show that ZIKV infection triggers the abundant production of virus-derived small interfering RNAs in hNPCs,but not in the more differentiated progenies or somatic cells.Ablation of key RNAi machinery components significantly enhances ZIKV replication in hNPCs.Furthermore,enoxacin,a broad-spectrum antibiotic that is known as an RNAi enhancer,exerts potent anti-ZIKV activity in hNPCs and other RNAi-competent cells.Strikingly,enoxacin treatment completely prevents ZIKV infection and circumvents ZIKV-induced microcephalic phenotypes in brain organoid models that recapitulate human fetal brain development.Our findings highlight the physiological importance of RNAi-mediated antiviral immunity during the early stage of human brain development,uncovering a novel strategy to combat human congenital viral infections through enhancing RNAi.Yan-Peng Xu Yang Qiu Boya Zhang Guilai Chen Qi Chen Miao Wang Fan Mo Jiuyue Xu Jin Wu Rong-Rong Zhang Meng-Li Cheng Na-Na Zhang Bao Lyu Wen-Liang Zhu Meng-Hua Wu Qing Ye Da Zhang Jiang-Hong Man Xiao-Feng Li Jie Cui Zhiheng Xu Baoyang Hu Xi Zhou Cheng-Feng Qin 2019Cell Research2019,29,4:8
15Robust adaptive repetitive learning control for a class of time-varying nonlinear systems with unknown control direction显示文摘A robust adaptive repetitive learning control method is proposed for a class of time-varying nonlinear systems. Nussbaum-gain method is incorporated into the control design to counteract the lack of a priori knowledge of the control direction which determines the motion direction of the system under any input. It is shown that the system state could converge to the desired trajectory asymptotically along the iteration axis through repetitive learning. 16Measuring high orbital angular momentum of vortex beams with an improved multipoint interferometer显示文摘A multipoint interferometer(MI),uniformly distributed point-like pinholes in a circle,was proposed to measure the orbital angular momentum(OAM)of vortex beams[Phys.Rev.Lett.101,100801(2008)],which can be used for measuring OAM of light from astronomical sources.This is a simple and robust method;however,it is noted that this method is only available for low topological charge because the diffracted intensity patterns for vortex beams with higher OAM will repeat periodically.Here,we propose an improved multipoint interferometer(IMI)for measuring the OAM of an optical vortex with high topological charge.The structure of our IMI is almost the same as the MI,but the size of each pinhole is larger than a point in the MI.Such a small change enables each pinhole to get more phase information from the incident beams;accordingly,the IMI can distinguish any vortex beams with different OAM.We demonstrate its viability both theoretically and experimentally.QI ZHAO MIAO DONG YIHUA BAI YUANJIE YANG 2020Photonics Research2020,8,5:7
17Risk factors for operative morbidity and mortality in gastric cancer patients undergoing total gastrectomy显示文摘AIM: To study the risk factors for morbidity and mortality following total gastrectomy. METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed the record of 125 consecutive patients who underwent tota gastrectomy for gastric cancer at the Second Affi liated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine between January 2003 and March 2008. RESULTS: The overall morbidity rate was 20.8% (27 patients) and the mortality rate was 3.2% (4 patients) Morbidity rates were higher in patients aged over 60 [odds ratio (OR) 4.23 (95% confidence interval (CI 1.09 to 12.05)], with preoperative comorbidity [with vs without, OR 1.25 (95% CI 1.13 to 8.12)], when the combined resection was performed [combined resection vs total gastrectomy only, OR 2.67 (95% C 1.58 to 5.06)].
