| 2 | Identification of sea snake meat adulteration in meat products using PCR-RFLP of mitochondrial DNA显示文摘PCR-RFLP based technique for identification of sea snakes in Thai waters was achieved by developing species-specific markers.To distinguish between sea snake species,the PCR products of cytochrome b(Cyt b),12S and 16S rRNA were sequenced and cut with different restriction endonuclease,Alu I and Hinf I.Each enzyme generated different-sized fragments which specific to Cyt b of eight sea snake species.However,the identical pattern was found among Hydrophis group.This result could be resolved by using these enzymes 12S rRNA digestion.This technique was successfully applied to blood,shed skin,raw meat,cooked meat,sea snake-fish binary admixture,and sea snake-pork binary admixture.Hence,it could be applied for identification when sea snake meat adulteration in meat products and sold as meatballs to reduce production costs.Hopefully,this technique would improve sea snake species identification when morphological examination is no longer possible because the animals are already processed.This is very important to track when sea snake species are being hunted and also used to assess the conservation and management of the sea snakes in Thai waters,especially the Gulf of Thailand. | Sunutcha Suntrarachun Lawan Chanhome Montri Sumontha | 2018 | Food Science and Human Wellness2018,7,2: | 3 |

| 6 | Influence of pre-treatment in citric acid solution on physical and mechanical properties of thermally compressed oil palm board显示文摘Oil palm trunk is an excellent raw material for thermally compressed wood board.However,improvements to dimensional stability during water absorption and reduced thickness swelling has been tied to losses in other mechanical properties,especially as the compression temperature is increased.Toward solving this trade-off,we analyzed the effects of a 48 h pre-soak in citric acid solutions(0,5,15,25,or 35%w/v in distilled water)on the physical and mechanical properties of oil palm board compressed at 140℃.The reference benchmark case was compressed at 200℃without pretreatment.The oil palm board raw materials were obtained from outer,middle and inner parts of trunk.The results showed that the oven-dry density of compressed oil palm board made from different parts of trunk increased with thermal compression(maximum pressure 12.26 MPa for 8 min).The citric acid pretreatment improved water absorption and thickness swelling properties of oil palm board thermally compressed at 140℃,consistent with the citric acid concentration.The carboxyl groups in citric acid cross-link with the hydroxyl groups in the wood.However,no significant difference was found between the benchmark(200℃)and pretreatments with 5 or 15%citric acid.The citric acid altered the wood chemistry during hot compressing at 140℃.Static bending strength,modulus of rupture(MOR),and modulus of elasticity(MOE)slightly decreased with the citric acid pretreatment,matching the effects of high temperature compression at 200℃. | Rattana Choowang Montri Suklueng | 2019 | Journal of Forestry Research2019,30,5: | 1 |

| 20 | Idiopathic sclerosing mesenteritis presenting with small bowel volvulus in a patient with antiphospholipid syndrome:A case report显示文摘BACKGROUND Sclerosing mesenteritis is a rare disorder involving inflammation of the mesentery.Its etiology remains unclear,but it is believed to be associated with previous abdominal surgery,trauma,autoimmune disorders,infection,or malignancy.Clinical manifestations of sclerosing mesenteritis are varied and include chronic abdominal pain,bloating,diarrhea,weight loss,formation of an intra-abdominal mass,bowel obstruction,and chylous ascites.Here,we present a case of idiopathic sclerosing mesenteritis with small bowel volvulus in a patient with antiphospholipid syndrome.CASE SUMMARY A 68-year-old female presented with recurrent small bowel obstruction.Imaging and pathological findings were consistent with sclerosing mesenteritis causing mesenteric and small bowel volvulus.Computed tomography scans also revealed pulmonary embolism,and the patient was started on a high dose of corticosteroid and a therapeutic dose of anticoagulants.The patient subsequently improved clinically and was discharged.The patient was also diagnosed with antiphospholipid syndrome after a hematological workup.CONCLUSION Sclerosing mesenteritis is a rare condition,and patients with no clear etiology should be considered for treatment with immunosuppressive therapy. | Papawee Chennavasin Montri Gururatsakul | 2023 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2023,11,14: | 0 |
