3Glaucomatous optic neuropathy treatment options:the promise of novel therapeutics,techniques and tools to help preserve vision显示文摘Peripheral vision loss followed by 'tunnel vision' and eventual irreversible blindness is the fate of patients afflicted by various forms of glaucoma including primary open-angle glaucoma(POAG) and normotensive glaucoma(NTG).These complex and heterogeneous diseases are characterized by extensive death of retinal ganglion cells(RGCs) accompanied by retraction and severance of their axonal connections to the brain and thus damage to and thinning of the optic nerve.Since patients suffering from this glaucomatous optic neuropathy(GON) first notice visual impairment when they have lost > 40% of their RGCs,early diagnosis is the key to retard the progression of glaucoma.Elevated intraocular pressure(IOP),low cerebrospinal and/or low intracranial fluid pressure,advancing age,and ethnicity are major risk factors associated with POAG.However,retinal vascular abnormalities and a high sensitivity of RGCs and optic nerve head components to neurotoxic,inflammatory,oxidative and mechanical insults also contribute to vision loss in POAG/GON.Current treatment modalities for POAG and NTG involve lowering IOP using topical ocular drugs,combination drug products,and surgical interventions.Two recently approved multi-pharmacophoric drugs(e.g.,rho kinase inhibitor,Netarsudil;a drug conjugate,Latanoprostene Bunod) and novel aqueous humor drainage devices(i Stent and Cy Pass) are also gaining acceptance for treating POAG/NTG.Neuroprotective and regenerative agents,coupled with electroceutical,mechanical support systems,stem cell transplantation and gene therapy are emerging therapeutics on the horizon to help combat GON.The latter techniques and approaches hope to rejuvenate RGCs and repair the optic nerve structures,thereby providing a gain of function of the visual system for the glaucoma patients.Najam A.Sharif 2018Neural Regeneration Research2018,13,7:4
4An I/Q mixer with an integrated differential quadrature all-pass filter for on-chip quadrature LO signal generation显示文摘A down-conversion in-phase/quadrature(I/Q) mixer employing a folded-type topology,integrated with a passive differential quadrature all-pass filter(D-QAF),in order to realize the final down-conversion stage of a60 GHz receiver architecture is presented in this work.Instead of employing conventional quadrature generation techniques such as a polyphase filter or a frequency divider for the local oscillator(LO) of the mixer,a passive D-QAF structure is employed.Fabricated in a 65 nm CMOS process,the mixer exhibits a voltage gain of 7-8 dB in an intermediate frequency(IF) band ranging from 10 MHz-1.75 GHz.A fixed LO frequency of 12 GHz is used to down-convert a radio frequency(RF) band of 10.25-13.75 GHz.The mixer displays a third order input referred intercept point(IIP_3) ranging from-8.75 to-7.37 dBm for a fixed IF frequency of 10 MHz and a minimum single-sideband noise figure(SSB-NF) of 11.3 dB.The mixer draws a current of 6 mA from a 1.2 V supply voltage dissipating a power of 7.2 mW.Najam Muhammad Amin 王志功 李智群 2015Journal of Semiconductors2015,36,5:2
5A Fuzzy Logic Based Power-Efficient Run-Time Reconfigurable Multicore System显示文摘Increasing demand for better throughput and performance has motivated designers to come up with more sophisticated processors with innovative designs. Such designs for multicore architectures offer large amount of parallelism which is often underutilized and thus becomes overhead and liability. Due to these advancements, there has been a exponential increase in power consumption and heat dissipation of computing devices. Under these circumstances, an ideal system would be a reconfigurable system that can switch off all underutilized resources and work with only required ones. There is a need of reconfigurable computing devices and processors that are smart enough to configure themselves dynamically on runtime to find balance between throughput and power-consumption. This paper proposes a novel fuzzy logic based Dynamic voltage and frequency scaling(DVFS)and power-gating enabled controller which is capable of reducing power-consumption without affecting throughput and overall performance of the system. The design is implemented on Intel processor using Ubuntu as an operating system. 12Environmental degradation and poverty:A bibliometric review显示文摘Understanding the mutual logic between environment and poverty mitigation is vital for achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs).This study conducts a bibliometric review of the available literature on environmental degradation and poverty and summarizes the existing researches.By applying suitable keywords,we retrieved 175 peer-reviewed articles from the Web of Science published between 1993 and 2020.We utilized the visualization of similarity viewer(VOSviewer)for this bibliometric study and classified the leading publications,prominent journals,and institutions.Furthermore,our bibliometric review found a phenomenon in investigation that people are indifference about the impact of environmental degradation on rising poverty levels in poor and developing countries.In terms of contributions,this study classifies 4 leading thematic clusters that identify how environmental degradation increases poverty.By employing text mining analysis,this research connects specific environmental terms accountable for the recent rise in global poverty.We finally recommend that including other databases to strengthen the findings of environmental degradation and poverty is one of the future research directions.Muhammad Ali Khan BURKI Umar BURKI Usama NAJAM 2021Regional Sustainability2021,2,4:1
