10Peculiarities of gender disambiguation and ordering of non-English authors’names for Economic papers beyond core databases显示文摘Purpose:To supplement the quantitative portrait of Ukrainian Economics discipline with the results of gender and author ordering analysis at the level of individual authors,special methods of working with bibliographic data with a predominant share of non-English authors are used.The properties of gender mixing,the likelihood of male and female authors occupying the first position in the authorship list,as well as the arrangements of names are studied.Design/methodology/approach:A data set containing bibliographic records related to Ukrainian journal publications in the field of Economics is constructed using Crossref metadata.Partial semi-automatic disambiguation of authors’names is performed.First names,along with gender-specific ethnic surnames,are used for gender disambiguation required for further comparative gender analysis.Random reshuffling of data is used to determine the impact of gender correlations.To assess the level of alphabetization for our data set,both Latin and Cyrillic versions of names are taken into account.Findings:The lack of well-structured metadata and the poor use of digital identifiers lead to numerous problems with automatization of bibliographic data pre-processing,especially in the case of publications by non-Western authors.The described stages for working with such specific data help to work at the level of authors and analyse,in particular,gender issues.Despite the larger number of female authors,gender equality is more likely to be reported at the individual level for the discipline of Ukrainian Economics.The tendencies towards collaborative or solo-publications and gender mixing patterns are found to be dependent on the journal:the differences for publications indexed in Scopus and/or Web of Science databases are found.It has also been found that Ukrainian Economics research is characterized by rather a non-alphabetical order of authors.Research limitations:Only partial authors’name disambiguation is performed in a semi-automatic way.Gender labels can be derived only for authors declared by full First names or gender-specific Last names.Practical implications:The typical features of Ukrainian Economic discipline can be used to perform a comparison with other countries and disciplines,to develop an informed-based assessment procedure at the national level.The proposed way of processing publication data can be borrowed to enrich metadata about other research disciplines,especially for non-English speaking countries.Originality/value:To our knowledge,this is the first large-scale quantitative study of Ukrainian Economic discipline.The results obtained are valuable not only at the national level,but also contribute to general knowledge about Economic research,gender issues,and authors’names ordering.An example of the use of Crossref data is provided,while this data source is still less used due to a number of drawbacks.Here,for the first time,attention is drawn to the explicit use of the features of the Slavic authors’names.Olesya Mryglod Serhii Nazarovets Serhiy Kozmenko 2023Journal of Data and Information Science2023,8,1:0
11Immunophenotypic characteristics of multipotent mesenchymal stromal cells that affect the efficacy of their use in the prevention of acute graft vs host disease显示文摘BACKGROUND Multipotent mesenchymal stromal cells(MSCs)are widely used in the clinic due to their unique properties,namely,their ability to differentiate in all mesenchymal directions and their immunomodulatory activity.Healthy donor MSCs were used to prevent the development of acute graft vs host disease(GVHD)after allogeneic bone marrow transplantation(allo-BMT).The administration of MSCs to patients was not always effective.The MSCs obtained from different donors have individual characteristics.The differences between MSC samples may affect their clinical efficacy.AIM To study the differences between effective and ineffective MSCs.METHODS MSCs derived from the bone marrow of a hematopoietic stem cells donor were injected intravenously into allo-BMT recipients for GVHD prophylaxis at the moment of blood cell reconstitution.Aliquots of 52 MSC samples that were administered to patients were examined,and the same cells were cultured in the presence of peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMCs)from a third-party donor or treated with the pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1β,IFN and TNF.Flow cytometry revealed the immunophenotype of the nontreated MSCs,the MSCs cocultured with PBMCs for 4 d and the MSCs exposed to cytokines.The proportions of CD25-,CD146-,CD69-,HLA-DR-and PD-1-positive CD4+and CD8+cells and the distribution of various effector and memory cell subpopulations in the PBMCs cocultured with the MSCs were also determined.RESULTS Differences in the immunophenotypes of effective and ineffective MSCs were observed.In the effective samples,the mean fluorescence intensity(MFI)of HLAABC,HLA-DR,CD105,and CD146 was significantly higher.After MSCs were treated with IFN or cocultured with PBMCs,the HLA-ABC,HLA-DR,CD90 and CD54 MFI showed a stronger increase in the effective MSCs,which indicated an increase in the immunomodulatory activity of these cells.When PBMCs were cocultured with effective MSCs,the proportions of CD4+and CD8+central memory cells significantly decreased,and the proportion of CD8+CD146+lymphocytes increased more than in the subpopulations of lymphocytes cocultured with MSC samples that were ineffective in the prevention of GVHD;in addition,the proportion of CD8+effector memory lymphocytes decreased in the PBMCs cocultured with the effective MSC samples but increased in the PBMCs cocultured with the ineffective MSC samples.The proportion of CD4+CD146+lymphocytes increased only when cocultured with the inefficient samples.CONCLUSION For the first time,differences were observed between MSC samples that were effective for GVHD prophylaxis and those that were ineffective.Thus,it was shown that the immunomodulatory activity of MSCs depends on the individual characteristics of the MSC population.Nataliya Petinati Nikolay Kapranov Yulia Davydova Alexey Bigildeev Olesya Pshenichnikova Dmitriy Karpenko Nina Drize Larisa Kuzmina Elena Parovichnikova Valeriy Savchenko 2020World Journal of Stem Cells2020,12,11:0
12Helicobacter pylori in gastric cancer: Features of infection and their correlations with long-term results of treatment显示文摘BACKGROUND Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)is a spiral-shaped bacterium responsible for the development of chronic gastritis,gastric ulcer,gastric cancer(GC),and MALTlymphoma of the stomach.H.pylori can be present in the gastric mucosa(GM)in both spiral and coccoid forms.However,it is not known whether the severity of GM contamination by various vegetative forms of H.pylori is associated with clinical and morphological characteristics and long-term results of GC treatment.AIM To establish the features of H.pylori infection in patients with GC and their correlations with clinical and morphological characteristics of diseases and long-term results of treatment.METHODS Of 109 patients with GC were included in a prospective cohort study.H.pylori in the GM and tumor was determined by rapid urease test and by immunohistochemically using the antibody to H.pylori.The results obtained were compared with the clinical and morphological characteristics and prognosis of GC.Statistical analysis was performed using the Statistica 10.0 software.RESULTS H.pylori was detected in the adjacent to the tumor GM in 84.5%of cases,of which a high degree of contamination was noted in 50.4%of the samples.Coccoid forms of H.pylori were detected in 93.4%of infected patients,and only coccoid-in 68.9%.It was found that a high degree of GM contamination by the coccoid forms of H.pylori was observed significantly more often in diffuse type of GC(P=0.024),in poorly differentiated GC(P=0.011),in stage T3-4(P=0.04)and in N1(P=0.011).In cases of moderate and marked concentrations of H.pylori in GM,a decrease in 10-year relapse free and overall survival from 55.6%to 26.3%was observed(P=0.02 and P=0.07,respectively).The relationship between the severity of the GM contamination by the spiral-shaped forms of H.pylori and the clinical and morphological characteristics and prognosis of GC was not revealed.CONCLUSION The data obtained indicates that H.pylori may be associated not only with induction but also with the progression of GC.Marina A Senchukova Olesya Tomchuk Elena I Shurygina 2021World Journal of Gastroenterology2021,27,37:0

19Spontaneous Ca^(2+ )oscillations in subcellular compartments of vascular smooth muscle cells rely on different Ca^(2+) pools显示文摘Spontaneous Ca2+ oscillations in vascular smooth muscle cells have been modeled using a single Ca2+ pool. This report describes spontaneous Ca2+ oscillations dependent on two separate Ca2+ sources for the nuclear versus cytoplas- mic compartments. Changes in free intracellular Ca2+ were monitored with ratiometric Ca2+- fluorophores using confo- cal microscopy. On average, spontaneous oscillations developed in 79% of rat aortic smooth muscle cells that were synchronous between the cytoplasm and nucleus. Reduction of extracellular Ca2+ (< 1 μM) decreased the frequency and amplitude of the cytoplasmic oscillations with 48% of the oscillations asynchronous between the nuclear and cytoplasmic compartments. Similar results were obtained with the Ca2+ channel blockers, nimodipine and diltiazem. Arg-vasopressin (AVP) induced a rapid release of intracellular Ca2+ stores that was greater in the nuclear compartment (4.20 ± 0.23 ratio units, n = 56) than cytoplasm (2.54 ± 0.28) in cells that had spontaneously developed prior oscillations. Conversely, cells in the same conditions lacking oscillations had a greater AVP-induced Ca2+ transient in the cytoplasm (4.99 ± 0.66, n = 17) than in the nucleus (2.67 ± 0.29). Pre-treatment with Ca2+ channel blockers depressed the AVP responses in both compartments with the cytoplasmic Ca2+ most diminished. Depletion of internal Ca2+ stores prior to AVP exposure blunted the nuclear response, mimicking the response of cells that lacked prior oscillations. Spontaneous oscillating cells had a greater sarcoplasmic reticulum network than cells that did not oscillate. We propose that sponta- neous nuclear oscillations rely on perinuclear sarcoplasmic reticulum stores, while the cytoplasmic oscillations rely on Ca2+ influx.Olesya D. FEDORYAK Yvonne SEARLS Irina V.
