| 1 | Discovery of the ancient Ordovician oil-bearing karst cave in Liuhuanggou,North Tarim Basin, and its significance显示文摘A typical ancient karst cave is found in the Yijianfang Formation of Ordovician at Liuhuanggou,North Tarim Basin. With an entrance of 4.8 m wide and 20 m high, the Liuhuanggou ancient karst cave extends to NW 315° and has been filled by sediments, which can be classified into three types according to their nature and origin:clastic sediments(gravels),chemical sediments(palaeotravertine),and mixed sediments.Among them, the Paleotravertine and gravels are most common. The palaeotravertine is laminated type and yellowish brown or black in color due to oil inside. When saturated with oil,the palaeotravertine is black.Under microscope, oil mainly accumulates in the cracks between calcite crystals. The filling period of the Liuhuanggou karst cave can be divided into three stages:mixed filling, chemical filling, and clastic(palaeotravertine breccia) filling.Numerous fractures are distributed on one side of the karst cave. The fractures can be as wide as 40 cm and over 40 m long.Fractures of different periods and sizes constitute a fracture network and are all filled with calcite veins.Oil can be found inside the fractures. In the chemical fillings, sulfur is also found, which can indicate the magma influence on karst caves. The existence of sulfur also confirms that the Liuhunggou karst cave was formed in ancient times rather than recently or nowadays.Different from normal sedimentary limestone, the ancient Liuhuanggou karst cave has a distinct isotope fractionation and the depletion of heavy carbon and oxygen isotope.Controlled by the northwest oriented vertical strike-slip shear fault, the karst cave is actually a dissolved vertical fault belt. | ZHONG JianHua MAO Cui LI Yong LI Yang YUAN XiangChun NIU YongBin CHEN Xin HuANG ZhiJuan SHAO ZhuFu WANG PeiJun LI Jia ZHANG DanFeng | 2012 | Science China Earth Sciences2012,55,9: | 4 |
| 2 | Nested hollow architectures of nitrogen-doped carbon-decorated Fe,Co,Ni-based phosphides for boosting water and urea electrolysis显示文摘Tailoring the nanostructure/morphology and chemical composition is important to regulate the electronic configuration of electrocatalysts and thus enhance their performance for water and urea electrolysis.Herein, the nitrogen-doped carbon-decorated tricomponent metal phosphides of FeP4 nanotube@Ni-Co-P nanocage(NC-FNCP)with unique nested hollow architectures are fabricated by a self-sacrifice template strategy.Benefiting from the multi-component synergy, the modification of nitrogen-doped carbon, and the modulation of nested porous hollow morphology,NC-FNCP facilitates rapid electron/mass transport in water and urea electrolysis.NC-FNCP-based anode shows low potentials of 248 mV and 1.37 V(vs.reversible hydrogen electrode)to attain 10 mA/cm^(2) for oxygen evolution reaction(OER)and urea oxidation reaction(UOR),respectively. In addition, the overall urea electrolysis drives 10 mA/cm^(2) at a comparatively low voltage of 1.52 V(vs.RHE)that is 110 mV lower than that of overall water electrolysis,as well as exhibits excellent stability over 20 h.This work strategizes a multi-shell-structured electrocatalyst with multi-compositions and explores its applications in a sustainable combination of hydrogen production and sewage remediation. | Jie Zhang Shoushuang Huang Ping Ning Peijun Xin Zhiwen Chen Qing Wang Kajsa Uvdal Zhangjun Hu | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,3: | 2 |
| 3 | Simultaneous estimation of surface soil moisture and soil properties with a dual ensemble Kalman smoother显示文摘In this paper, a new state-parameter estimation approach is presented based on the dual ensemble Kalman smoother(DEn KS) and simple biosphere model(Si B2) to sequentially estimate both the soil properties and soil moisture profile by assimilating surface soil moisture observations. The Arou observation station, located in the upper reaches of the Heihe River in northwestern China, was selected to test the proposed method. Three numeric experiments were designed and performed to analyze the influence of uncertainties in model parameters, atmospheric forcing, and the model's physical mechanics on soil moisture estimates. Several assimilation schemes based on the ensemble Kalman filter(En KF), ensemble Kalman smoother(En KS), and dual En KF(DEn KF) were also compared in this study. The results demonstrate that soil moisture and soil properties can be simultaneously estimated by state-parameter estimation methods, which can provide more accurate estimation of soil moisture than traditional filter methods such as En KF and En KS. The estimation accuracy of the model parameters decreased with increasing error sources. DEn KS outperformed DEn KF in estimating soil moisture in most cases, especially where few observations were available. This study demonstrates that the DEn KS approach is a useful and practical way to improve soil moisture estimation. | CHU Nan HUANG ChunLin LI Xin DU PeiJun | 2015 | Science China Earth Sciences2015,58,12: | 1 |

| 9 | Phosphorus-doped Fe_(7)S_(8)@C nanowires for efficient electrochemical hydrogen and oxygen evolutions:Controlled synthesis and electronic modulation on active sites显示文摘Developing low-cost,efficient,and stable non-precious-metal electrocatalysts with controlled crystal structure, morphology and compositions are highly desirable for hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions.Herein,a series of phosphorus-doped Fe_(7)S_(8)nanowires integrated within carbon(P-Fe_(7)S_(8)@C)are rationally synthesized via a one-step phosphorization of one-dimensional(1D)Fe-based organicinorganic nanowires. The as-obtained P-Fe_(7)S_(8)@C catalysts with modified electronic configurations present typical porous structure, providing plentiful active sites for rapid reaction kinetics.Density functional calculations demonstrate that the doping Fe_(7)S_(8)with P can effectively enhance the electron density of Fe_(7)S_(8)around the Fermi level and weaken the Fe-H bonding, leading to the decrease of adsorption free energy barrier on active sites. As a result, the optimal catalyst of P-Fe_(7)S_(8)-600@C exhibits a relatively low overpotential of 136 mV for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)to reach the current density of 10 mA/cm^(2),and a significantly low overpotential of 210 mV for oxygen evolution reaction(OER)at 20 mA/cm^(2)in alkaline media. The work presented here may pave the way to design and synthesis of other prominent Fe-based catalysts for water splitting via electronic regulation. | Thanh-Tung Le Xiao Liu Peijun Xin Qing Wang Chunyan Gao Ye Wu Yongjiang Zhangjun Hu Shoushuang Huang Zhiwen Chen | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,15: | 0 |
