| 1 | Network platform for remote structural testing and shared use of laboratories显示文摘This paper presents a network platform developed for remote testing of scaled model or prototype structures and structural elements. The network platform, NetSLab, was developed based on the client/server concept along with a proposed data model and the communication protocols. The platform is capable of transferring the control and feedback data as well as signals among remotely located structural testing laboratories or computers connected by Internet. Several concepts were introduced to develop the platform and to provide relatively easy and friendly interface for applications and further enhancement. Trial and actual tests were successfully carried out at the Hunan University, China and the University of Southern California, USA. | 2 | Frost-heaving pressure in geotechnical engineering materials during freezing process显示文摘Energy and resources including coal, oil, and gas are in demand all over the world. Because these resources near the earth's surface have been exploited for many years, the extraction depth has increased.As mining shafts in the coal extraction process become deeper, especially in western China, an artificial freezing method is used and is concentrated in the fractured rock mass. The frost-heaving pressure(FHP)is directly related to the degree of damage of the fractured rock mass. This paper is focused on FHP during the freezing process, with emphasis on the frost-heaving phenomenon in engineering materials. | 3 | Mass-transport Deposits of the Upper Cretaceous Qingshankou Formation, Songliao Terrestrial Basin, Northeast China: Depositional Characteristics, Recognition Criteria and External Geometry显示文摘Extensive mass transport deposits(MTDs), which form a significant component of the stratigraphic record in ancient and modern deep water systems, mostly distributed in the continental margin of ocean basins worldwide. To date, no large-scale MTDs have been found in Chinese terrestrial basins. Based on integrated analysis of the seismic, drilling, core and logging data, this article report MTDs have been found in Songliao terrestrial basin(SLTB), Northeast China. During the depositional period of the Upper Cretaceous Qingshankou Formation, slope break of lacustrine basins was an ideal discharge place for gravity depositions. Regional sedimentary study of MTDs reveals that Cretaceous-age MTDs in SLTB were deposited in slope-break environments by slide, slump and debris flow, and MTDs were mixed with little turbidite simultaneously. Besides the massive aspect, key features of MTDs are the common presence of deformational structures or softsedimentary deformation, floating shale clasts, boudins, microfaults, distortion beddings, rotated sand debris. Detailed mapping of two three-dimensional(3-D) seismic surveys acquired in Yingtai(YT) and Haituozi(HTZ) areas reveals that MTDs are characterized by chaotic, mounded, and transparent seismic reflection. Growth fault, slope gully and geomorphology of the slope break greatly influenced the sedimentary process and external geometry of MTDs, and as a consequence, MTDs in SLTB exhibit classic fan-like geometry and some special(non-fan-like) external geometry. Furthermore, fanlike MTDs can be divided into three subcategories, including isolated fan, mother-son fan and stacked fan. Non-fan-like MTDs can be divided into two subcategories, strip-like MTDs and faulted-pit MTDs. A new sedimentary model has been built for MTDs in SLTB. | 4 | Interactomic study on interaction between lipid droplets and mitochondria显示文摘An increasing body of evidence shows that the lipid droplet,a neutral lipid storage organelle,plays a role in lipid metabolism and energy homeostasis through its interaction with mitochondria.However,the cellular functions and molecular mechanisms of the interaction remain ambiguous.Here we present data from transmission electron microscopy,fluorescence imaging,and reconstitution assays,demonstrating that lipid droplets physically contact mitochondria in vivo and in vitro.Using a bimolecular fluorescence complementation assay in Saccharomyces cerevisiae,we generated an interactomic map of protein-protein contacts of lipid droplets with mitochondria and peroxisomes.The lipid droplet proteins Erg6 and Pet10 were found to be involved in 75%of the interactions detected.Interestingly,interactions between 3 pairs of lipid metabolic enzymes were detected.Collectively,these data demonstrate that lipid droplets make physical contacts with mitochondria and peroxisomes,and reveal specific molecular interactions that suggest active participation of lipid droplets in lipid metabolism in yeast. | Jing Pu Cheol Woong Ha Shuyan Zhang Jong Pil Jung Won-Ki Huh Pingsheng Liu | 2011 | Protein & Cell2011,2,6: | 9 |

| 9 | Analysis of floral scent emitted from Syringa plants显示文摘Syringa is an important aromatic woody angiosperm that is widely planted in gardens. Its dry flowers are traditionally used to manufacture infusions and spices in China. In this study, the floral volatiles emitted from nine different Syringa species and varieties, viz.S. chinensis, S. protolaciniata, S. oblata, S. oblata var.giraldii, S. oblata var. plena, S. vulgaris ‘Mrs Harry Bickle', S. vulgaris ‘Bright Centennial', S. vulgaris ‘White Spires', and S. vulgaris ‘President Lincoln' were collected by the dynamic headspace technique, and then identified by automated thermal desorption–gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. There were significant differences incomponents and corresponding contents of floral scent emitted from the nine Syringa species and varieties.Among the detected components, b-ocimene exhibited the highest content, accounting for more than 70 % of the floral scent of S. protolaciniata, S. oblata var. giraldii, and S. vulgaris ‘Bright Centennial'. A significant daytime variation of floral scent emitted from S. pekinensis was recorded, especially for benzaldehyde, whose content first increased and then decreased. We studied the scent emitted from the in vitro flowers of S. vulgaris ‘Pres Lincoln'during the process of natural drying. Alcohol compounds were released in the greatest content, and the content of 2-ethyl-1-hexanol accounted for about 40 % of the total release amount. | 10 | Basic and clinical study of increased effect of partial anti-tumor agents by infusing sodium bicarbonate through target artery显示文摘Objective: To observe the influence of pH value on the proliferation of LAK cells and on the killing effect of rIL-2, IFN-ɑ2b, TNF-α, LAK cells and doxorubicin on malignant tumor cells, and investigate the possibility of increasing the efficacy of rIL-2 or IFN-ɑ2b and doxorubicin by infusing sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) through target arteries. Methods: Separating single nucleus cells from peripheral blood of healthy men, and observing the influence of pH on the activation of single nucleus cells by rIL-2. MTT assay was used to measure the killing effect of rIL-2, IFN-ɑ2b and TNF-α on 7404 cells and the increased effect of doxorubicin on rIL-2 and IFN-ɑ2b, the cytotoxity of LAK cells in different pH. Forty-two patients with advanced primary liver cancer were obtained by stratified random, NaHCO3, rIL-2/IFN-ɑ2b and doxorubicin were infused through target arteries. The efficacy was estimated after two cycles. Results: The conditions of pH 7.3 and pH 7.6 in vitro helped the proliferation of LAK cells and the killing effect of rIL-2, IFN-ɑ2b and LAK cells on 7404 cells. In the condition of pH 6.8 there was almost no killing effect for LAK cells. In the condition of pH 7.0, 7.2, 7.4 and 7.6, the killing rate of TNF-α to 7404 cells increased by degrees, and in pH 7.4 the killing effect was the optimum. After two cycles treatments in the 42 patients with advanced primary liver cancer, the response rate (CR+PR) was 88% (37/42). The median overall response and median overall survival were increased , and no complication associated with infusing sodium bicarbonate was observed. | 12 | Self-assembled PEG-b-PDPA-b-PGEM copolymer nanoparticles as protein antigen delivery vehicles to dendritic cells:preparation,characterization and cellular uptake显示文摘Antigen uptake by dendritic cells(DCs)is a key step for initiating antigen-specific T cell immunity.In the present study,novel synthetic polymeric nanoparticles were prepared as antigen delivery vehicles to improve the antigen uptake by DCs.Well-defined cationic and acid-responsive copolymers,monomethoxy poly(ethylene glycol)-block-poly(2-(diisopropyl amino)ethyl methacrylate)-block-poly(2-(guanidyl)ethyl methacrylate)(mPEG-b-PDPA-b-PGEM,PEDG)were synthesized by reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer polymerization of 2-(diisopropylamino)ethyl methacrylate and N-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)amino ethyl methacrylate monomers,followed by deprotection of tert-butyl protective groups and guanidinylation of obtained primary amines.1H NMR,13C NMR and GPC results indicated the successful synthesis of well-defined PEDG copolymers.PEDG copolymers could self-assemble into nanoparticles in aqueous solution,which were of cationic surface charges and showed acid-triggered disassembly contributed by PGEM and PDPA moieties,respectively.Significantly,PEDG nanoparticles could effectively condense with negatively charged model antigen ovalbumin(OVA)to form OVA/PEDG nanoparticle formulations with no influence on its secondary and tertiary structures demonstrating by far-UV circular dichroism and UV-vis spectra.In vitro antigen cellular uptake by bone marrow DCs(BMDCs)indicated using PEDG nanoparticles as antigen delivery vehicles could significantly improve the antigen uptake efficiency of OVA compared with free OVA or the commercialized Alum adjuvant.Moreover,as the surface cationic charges of OVA/PEDG nanoparticle formulations reduced,the uptake efficiency decreased correspondingly.Collectively,our work suggests that guanidinylated,cationic and acid-responsive PEDG nanoparticles represent a new kind of promising antigen delivery vehicle to DCs and hold great potential to serve as immunoadjuvants in the development of vaccines. | Pan Li Junhui Zhou Pingsheng Huang Chuangnian Zhang Weiwei Wang Chen Lia Deling Kong | 2017 | Regenerative Biomaterials2017,4,1: | 2 |
| 13 | Rational design of phosphonate/quaternary amine block polymer as an high-efficiency antibacterial coating for metallic substrates显示文摘Developing advanced technologies to address the bacterial associated infections is an urgent requirement for metallic implants and devices.Here,we report a novel phosphonate/quaternary amine block polymer as the high-efficiency antibacterial coating for metallic substrates.Three pDEMMP-b-pTMAEMA block polymers that bearing identical phosphonate segments(repeat units of 15)but varied cationic segments(repeat units of 8,45,and 70)were precisely prepared.Stable cationic polymer coatings were constructed on TC4 substrates based on the strong covalent binding between phosphonate group and metallic substrate.Robust relationship between the segment chain length of the polymer coating and the antibacterial property endowed to the substrates have been established based on quantitative and qualitative evaluations.Results showed that the antibacterial rate of the modified TC4 surface were 95.8%of S.aureus and 92.9%of E.coli cells attached.Interestingly,unlike the cationic free polymer or cationic hydrogels,the surface anchored cationic polymers do compromise the viability of the attached C2C12 cells but without significant cytotoxicity.In addition,the phosphonate/quate rnary amine block polymers can be easily constructed on titanium,stainless steel,and Ni/Cr alloy with significantly improved antibacterial property,indicating the generality of the block polymer for surface antibacterial modification of bio-metals. | Li Liu Wan Peng Xiao Zhang Jiangmei Peng Pingsheng Liu Jian Shen | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,3: | 2 |
