| 1 | Geochronology and significance of volcanic rocks in the Ning-Wu Basin of China显示文摘The Ning-Wu(Nanjing-Wuhu) Basin is one of the most important volcanic basins in the Middle-Lower Yangtze River Valley,eastern China.It consists of four volcanic units,i.e.,the Longwangshan,Dawangshan,Gushan,and Niangniangshan Formations.Their LA-ICP MS U-Pb zircon ages are 134.8±1.8,132.2±1.6,129.5±0.8,and 126.8±0.6 Ma,respectively.Results of this study indicate that all volcanic rocks in the Ning-Wu Basin were formed in the Early Cretaceous from 135 to 127 Ma,lasting 8-10 m.y.No Jurassic volcanic activities occurred in any of the volcanic basins of the Middle-Lower Yangtze River Valley,including the Ning-Wu Basin.These new chronological results provide significant evidence for further study of this region to improve our understanding of Mesozoic tectonic,magmatic,and metallogenic processes of eastern China. | ZHOU TaoFa FAN Yu YUAN Feng ZHANG LeJun QIAN Bin MA Liang YANG XiFei David R COOKE | 2011 | Science China Earth Sciences2011，54，2： | 33 |

| 4 | Current status of imaging in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease显示文摘Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is the most common diffuse liver disease, with a worldwide prevalence of 20% to 46%. NAFLD can be subdivided into simple steatosis and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis. Most cases of simple steatosis are non-progressive, whereas nonalcoholic steatohepatitis may result in chronic liver injury and progressive fibrosis in a significant minority. Effective risk stratification and management of NAFLD requires evaluation of hepatic parenchymal fat, fibrosis, and inflammation. Liver biopsy remains the current gold standard; however, non-invasive imaging methods are rapidly evolving and may replace biopsy in some circumstances. These methods include well-established techniques, such as conventional ultrasonography, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging and newer imaging technologies, such as ultrasound elastography, quantitative ultrasound techniques, magnetic resonance elastography, and magnetic resonancebased fat quantitation techniques. | 7 | Prognostic value of perioperative leukocyte count in resectable gastric cancer显示文摘AIM: To investigate the prognostic significance of perioperative leukopenia in patients with resected gastric cancer.METHODS: A total of 614 eligible gastric cancer patients who underwent curative D2 gastrectomy and adjuvant chemotherapy were enrolled in this study. The relationship between pre- and postoperative hematologic parameters and overall survival was assessed statistically, adjusted for known prognostic factors.RESULTS: The mean white blood cell count(WBC) significantly decreased after surgery, and 107/614(17.4%) patients developed p-leukopenia, which was defined as a preoperative WBC ≥ 4.0 × 109/L and postoperative WBC < 4.0 × 109/L, with an absolute decrease ≥ 0.5 × 109/L. The neutrophil count decreased significantly more than the lymphocyte count. P-leukopenia significantly correlated with poor tumor differentiation and preoperative WBC. A higher preoperative WBC and p-leukopenia were independent negative prognostic factors for survival [hazard ratio(HR) = 1.602, 95% confidence interval(CI): 1.185-2.165; P = 0.002, and HR = 1.478, 95%CI: 1.149-1.902; P = 0.002, respectively] after adjusting for histology, Borrmann type, p TNM stage, vascular or neural invasion, gastrectomy method, resection margins, chemotherapy regimens, and preoperative WBC count. The patients with both higher preoperative WBC and p- leukopenia had a worse prognosis compared to those with lower baseline WBC and no p-leukopenia(27.5 mo vs 57.3 mo, P < 0.001). | 9 | Influence of Coal Nature and Structure on Ash Size Formation Characteristic and Related Pollutant Emissions During CFB Combustion显示文摘The size distribution of coal particles in a Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) boiler plays a crucial role in the complicated combustion, heat exchange and pollutant emissions in such a plat. Therefore, it is fundamental to study the different factors having influence on the size distribution of coal particles. Above all, the coal itself and in particular, the coal combination phenomenon is a very influent factor. In the frame of this work, the coal nature (elementary composition) and coal internal structure (mineral components) are studied in detail. At this intermediary stage, experiments on three typical Chinese coals on a l.5 MWt CFBC pilot plant have been made. Some primary fragmentation tests have also been made in a small lab scale fluidized bed reactor. The results from the hot pilot test show i) the variation of coal ash distributions and other CFB performance data due to the cyclone and the coal characteristics and ii) the variation of desulfurization efficiency with limestone.
