1Multitime scale variations of sea surface temperature in the China seas based on the HadISST dataset显示文摘The variability of the sea surface temperature(SST) in the China seas has been studied in seasonal,interannual and interdecadal scales based on the monthly data of HadISST spanning from 1870 to 2007. The main results obtained are SST in the China offshore changes most actively at the seasonal scale with the intensity diminishing from north to south,as the temperature differences between summer and winter reaching 17 and 4 C in the northern and southern areas,respectively. Moreover,seasonal variation near the coastal regions seems relatively stronger than that far from the coastline;significant interannual variations are detected,with the largest positive anomaly occurring in 1998 in the overall area. But as far as different domains are concerned,there exists great diversity,and the difference is also found between winter and summer. Differed from the seasonal variations,where the strongest interannual variability takes place,resides to the south of that of the seasonal ones in the northern section,nevertheless in the South China Sea,the most significant interannual variability is found in the deep basin;interdecadal changes of summer,winter and annual mean SST in different domains likewise present various features. 2Stretching and imaging studies of single DNA molecules显示文摘DNA molecules were stretched on silanized mica surface with the molecular combing technique, and detected with fluorescence microscopy and atomic force microscopy. Meantime, DNA molecules were stretched with a modified dynamic molecular combing technique and studied with atomic force microscopy. The results indicate that, compared with the dynamic molecular combing technique, the modified dynamic molecular combing technique has advantages of less-sample demand and less contamination to sample; as compared with the molecular combing technique, it has better aligning effect and reproducibility. 3Laser performance of the SG-Ⅲ laser facility显示文摘SG-Ⅲ laser facility is now the largest laser driver for inertial confinement fusion research in China. 6Chiral plasmonics and enhanced chiral light-matter interactions显示文摘Chirality, which describes the broken mirror symmetry in geometric structures, exists macroscopically in our daily life as well as microscopically down to molecular levels. Correspondingly, chiral molecules interact differently with circularly polarized light exhibiting opposite handedness(left-handed and right-handed). However, the interaction between chiral molecules and chiral light is very weak. In contrast, artificial chiral plasmonic structures can generate 'super-chiral' plasmonic near-field, leading to enhanced chiral light-matter(or chiroptical) interactions. The 'super-chiral' near-field presents different amplitude and phase under opposite handedness incidence, which can be utilized to engineer linear and nonlinear chiroptical interactions. Specifically,in the interaction between quantum emitters and chiral plasmonic structures, the chiral hot spots can favour the emission with a specific handedness. This article reviews the state-of-the-art research on the design, fabrication and chiroptical response of different chiral plasmonic nanostructures or metasurfaces. This review also discusses enhanced chiral light-matter interactions that are essential for applications like chirality sensing, chiral selective light emitting and harvesting. 7A preliminary study on the response of marine primary production to monsoon variations in the South China Sea Basic characteristics显示文摘Seasonal,interannual and interdecadal variations of monsoon over the South China Sea (SCS) directly influence the ocean circulation and the mass transport process,etc.,especially the changes of horizontal circulation pattern and upwelling area. These changes directly influence the nutrient transport and the photosynthesis of phytoplankton,which induce the change of the marine ecosystem in the SCS,including the change of marine primary production in this sea area. On the basis of climatic data for long-time series and primary production estimated by remote sensing,the multi-time scale variations of monsoon,seasonal and interannual variations of primary production,and the response of primary production to monsoon variations were analyzed. Furthermore,the spatio-temporal variations of primary production in different sea areas of the SCS and their relations to the monsoon variations were given. The results showed that the strong southwesterly prevailed over the SCS in summer whereas the vigorous northeasterly in winter. The seasonal primary production in the entire sea area of the SCS also produced a strong peak in winter and a subpeak in summer. And the seasonal primary production distributions displayed different characteristics in every typical sea area. The variations of the annual and summer averaged primary production in the entire sea area of the SCS showed almost the same rising trend as the intensity of the summer monsoon. Especially for 1998,the summer monsoon reached almost the minimum in the past 54 a when the primary production was also found much lower than any other year (1999-2005). The responses of annual primary production to monsoon variation were displayed to different extent in different sea areas of the SCS; especially it was better in the deep sea basin. 8Efficient up-conversion photoluminescence in all-inorganic lead halide perovskite nanocrystals显示文摘Up-conversion photoluminescence(UCPL)refers to the elementary process where low-energy photons are converted into high-energy ones via consecutive interactions inside a medium.When additional energy is provided by intermnal thermal energy in the form of lttice vibrations(phonons),the process is called phonon-assisted UCPL.Here,we report the exceptionally large phonon-assisted energy gain of up to^8kgT(kg is Boltzmann constant,T is temperature)on all-inorganic lead halide perovskite semiconductor colloidal nanocrystals that goes beyond the maximum capabilty of only harvesting optical phonon modes.By systematic optical study in combination with a statistical probability model,we explained the nontrivial phonon-assisted UCPL process in perovskites nanocrystals,where in addition to the strong electron-phonon(light-matter)coupling,other nonlinear processes such as phonon-phonon(matter-matter)interaction also effectively boost the up-conversion efficiency.Andres Granados del Aguila TThu Ha Do Jun Xing Wen Jie Jee Jacob B.Khurgin Qihua Xiong 2020Nano Research2020,13,7:5
9The effect of different layered materials on the tribological properties of PTFE composites显示文摘Two-dimensional(2D)lamellar materials have unique molecular structures and mechanical properties,among which molybdenum disulfide(MoS2)and graphitic carbon nitride(g-C3N4)with different interaction forces served as reinforcing phase for polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)composites in the present study.Thermal stability,tribological and thermomechanical properties of composites were comprehensively investigated.It was demonstrated that g-C3N4 improved elastic deformation resistance and thermal degradation characteristics.The addition of g-C3N4 significantly enhanced anti-wear performance under different loads and speeds.The results indicated that PTFE composites reinforced by g-C3N4 were provided with better properties because the bonding strength of g-C3N4 derived from hydrogen bonds(H-bonds)was stronger than that of MoS2 with van der Waals force.Consequently,g-C3N4 exhibited better thermomechanical and tribological properties.The result of this work is expected to provide a new kind of functional filler for enhancing the tribological properties of polymer composites.Song LI Chunjian DUAN Xiao LI Mingchao SHAO Chunhui QU Di ZHANG Qihua WANG Tingmei WANG Xinrui ZHANG 2020Friction2020,8,3:5
10Spontaneously coherent orbital coupling of counterrotating exciton polaritons in annular perovskite microcavities显示文摘Exciton-polariton condensation is regarded as a spontaneous macroscopic quantum phenomenon with phase ordering and collective coherence.By engineering artificial annular potential landscapes in halide perovskite semiconductor microcavities,we experimentally and theoretically demonstrate the room-temperature spontaneous formation of a coherent superposition of exciton-polariton orbital states with symmetric petal-shaped patterns in real space,resulting from symmetry breaking due to the anisotropic effective potential of the birefringent perovskite crystals.The lobe numbers of such petal-shaped polariton condensates can be precisely controlled by tuning the annular potential geometry.These petal-shaped condensates form in multiple orbital states,carrying locked alternating nphase shifts and vortex-anti vortex superposition cores,arising from the coupling of counterrotating exciton-polaritons in the confined circular waveguide.Our geometrically patterned microcavity exhibits promise for realizing room-temperature topological polaritonic devices and optical polaritonic switches based on periodic annular potentials.Jun Wang Huawen Xu Rui Su Yutian Peng Jinqi Wu Timothy C.H.Liew Qihua Xiong 2021Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,3:4

13A physics-based hydro-geomorphologic simulation utilizing cluster parallel computing显示文摘To conduct a large-scale hydrologic-response and landform evolution simulation at high resolution,a complex physics-based numerical model,the Integrated Hydrology Model(InHM),was revised utilizing cluster parallel computing.The parallelized InHM(ParInHM) divides the simulated area into multiple catchments based on geomorphologic features,and generates boundary-value problems for each catchment to construct simulation tasks,which are then dispatched to different computers to start the simulation.Landform evolution is considered during simulating and implemention in one framework.The dynamical Longest-Processing-Time(LPT) first scheduling algorithm is applied to job management.In addition,a pause-integratedivide-resume routine method is used to ensure the hydrologic validity during the simulation period.The routine repeats until the entire simulation period is finished.ParInHM has been tested in a computer cluster that uses 16 processors for the calculation,to simulate 100 years' hydrologic-response and soil erosion for the 117-km2 Kaho'olawe Island in the Hawaiian Islands under two different mesh resolutions.The efficiency of ParInHM was evaluated by comparing the performance of the cluster system utilizing different numbers of processors,as well as the performance of non-parallelized system without domain decomposition.The results of this study show that it is feasible to conduct a regional-scale hydrologic-response and sediment transport simulation at high resolution without demanding significant computing resources.RAN QiHua SU DanYang FU XuDong WANG GuangQian 2013Science China(Technological Sciences)2013,56,8:3
14Complete mitochondrial genome of the Japanese snapping shrimp Alpheus japonicus(Crustacea:Decapoda:Caridea):Gene rearrangement and phylogeny within Caridea显示文摘The complete sequence of the mitochondrial genome of the Japanese snapping shrimp Alpheus japonicus Miers(Crustacea:Decapoda:Caridea) is presented here.A comparative analysis based on the currently available mitochondrial genomic data revealed many previously unknown characteristics of the mitochondrial genomes of caridean shrimps.The A.japonicus mitochondrial genome is 16487 bp long and contains the typical set of 37 metazoan genes.The gene arrangements in the mitochondrial genomes of four previously studied carideans(Macrobrachium rosenbergii,M.nipponense,M.lanchesteri and Halocaridina rubra) were found to be identical to the pancrustacean ground pattern;thus,it was considered that gene rearrangements probably did not occur in the suborder Caridea.In the present study,a translocation of the trnE gene involving inversion was found in Alpheus mitochondrial genomes.This phenomenon has not been reported in any other crustacean mitochondrial genome that has been studied so far;however,the translocation of one transfer RNA gene(trnP or trnT) was reported in the mitochondrial genome of Exopalaemon carinicauda.When the ratios of the nonsynonymous and synonymous substitutions rates(Ka/Ks) for the 13 protein coding genes from two Alpheus species(A.japonicus and A.distinguendus) and three Macrobrachium species(M.rosenbergii,M.nipponense,M.lanchesteri) were calculated,the Ka/Ks values for all the protein coding genes in Alpheus and Macrobrachium mitochondrial genomes were found to be less than 1(between 0.0048 and 0.2057),indicating that a strong purification selection had occurred.The phylogenetic tree that was constructed based on the mitochondrial protein coding genes in the genomes of nine related species indicated that Palaemonidae and Alpheidae formed a monophyly and shared a statistically significant relationship,(Palaemonidae+Alpheidae)+Atyidae,at the family level.SHEN Xin LI Xiao SHA ZhongLi YAN BinLun XU QiHua 2012Science China(Life Sciences)2012,55,7:3
15Late Cretaceous-Cenozoic Multi-Stage Denudation at the Western Ordos Block: Constraints by the Apatite Fission Track Dating on the Langshan显示文摘The apatite fission track dating of samples from the Dabashan(i.e., the Langshan in the northeastern Alxa Block) by the laser ablation method and their thermal history modeling of AFT ages are conducted in this study. The obtained results and lines of geological evidence in the study region indicate that the Langshan has experienced complicated tectonic-thermal events during the the Late Cretaceous-Cenozoic. Firstly, it experienced a tectonic-thermal event in the Late Cretaceous(~90–70 Ma). The event had little relation with the oblique subduction of the Izanagi Plate along the eastern Eurasian Plate, but was related to the Neo-Tethys subduction and compression between the Lhasa Block and Qiangtang Block. Secondly, it underwent the dextral slip faulting in the Eocene(~50–45 Ma). The strike slip fault may develop in the same tectonic setting as sinistral slip faults in southern Mongolia and thrusts in West Qinling to the southwest Ordos Block in the same period, which is the remote far-field response to the India-Eurasia collision. Thirdly, the tectonic thermal event existed in the late Cenozoic(since ~10 Ma), thermal modeling shows that several samples began their denudation from upper region of partial annealing zone(PAZ), and the denudation may have a great relationship with the growth of Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau to the northeast. In addition, the AFT ages of Langshan indicate that the main body of the Langshan may be an upper part of fossil PAZ of the Late Cretaceous(~70 Ma). 16Exploring the friction and wear behaviors of Ag–Mo hybrid modified thermosetting polyimide composites at high tem-perature显示文摘Polyimide composites have been extensively used as motion components under extreme conditions for their thermal stability and special self-lubricating performance. In the present study, Ag–Mo hybrids as lubricant fillers were incorporated into thermosetting polyimide to prepare a new type of tribo-materials (TPI-1) at high temperature. Comprehensive investigations at different temperatures reveal that the newly developed TPI-1 exhibits a better reduction in friction and wear rate below 100 ℃, but all of them increase significantly when the bulk temperature exceeds 250℃. The wear mechanisms demonstrated that sandwich-like tribofilms with different layers were established at different temperatures, which was further verified by characterization of scanning electron microscope (SEM), Raman spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscope (TEM). 17Preparation of active carbons from corn stalk for butanol vapor adsorption显示文摘Active carbons(ACs) were prepared through chemical activation of biochar from whole corn stalk(WCS)and corn stalk pith(CSP) at varying temperatures using potassium hydroxide as the activating agent. ACs were characterized via pore structural analysis and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). These adsorbents were then assessed for their adsorption capacity for butanol vapor. It was found that WCS activated at900 °C for 1 h(WCS-900) had optimal butanol adsorption characteristics. The BET surface area and total pore volume of the WCS-900 were 2330 m2/g and 1.29 cm3/g, respectively. 18Effects of dietary tributyrin on intestinal mucosa development,mitochondrial function and AMPK-mTOR pathway in weaned pigs显示文摘Background:The objective of this experiment was to investigate the influence of dietary tributyrin on intestinal mucosa development,oxidative stress,mitochondrial function and AMPK-mTOR signaling pathway.Methods:Seventy-two pigs were divided into two treatments and received either a basal diet or the same diet supplemented with 750 mg/kg tributyrin.Each treatment has six replicates of six pigs.After 14 days,6 pigs from each treatment were selected and the jejunal samples were collected.Results:Results showed that supplemental tributyrin increased(P<0.05)villus height and villus height:crypt depth of weaned pigs.Pigs fed tributyrin had greater(P<0.05)RNA/DNA and protein/DNA ratios than pigs on the control group.The mRNA levels of sodium glucose transport protein-1 and glucose transporter-2 in the jejunum were upregulated(P<0.05)in pigs fed the tributyrin diet.Dietary tributyrin supplementation lowered(P<0.05)the malondialdehyde and hydrogen peroxide(H2O2)content in jejunum,enhanced(P<0.05)the mitochondrial function,as demonstrated by decreased(P<0.05)reactive oxygen species level and increased(P<0.05)mitochondrial membrane potential.Furthermore,tributyrin increased(P<0.05)mitochondrial DNA content and the mRNA abundance of genes related to mitochondrial functions,including peroxisomal proliferator-activated receptor-γcoactivator-1α,mitochondrial transcription factor A,nuclear respiratory factor-1 in the jejunum.Supplementation with tributyrin elevated(P<0.05)the phosphorylation level of AMPK and inhibited(P<0.05)the phosphorylation level of mTOR in jejunum compared with the control group.Conclusions:These findings suggest that dietary supplementation with tributyrin promotes intestinal mucosa growth,extenuates oxidative stress,improves mitochondrial function and modulates the AMPK-mTOR signal pathway of weaned pigs.Chunchun Wang Shuting Cao Zhuojun Shen Qihua Hong Jie Feng Yan Peng Caihong Hu 2020Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2020,11,2:3
19A comparison of summer precipitation structures over the South China Sea and the East China Sea based on tropical rainfall measurement mission显示文摘The three-dimensional structures of summer precipitation over the South China Sea(SCS)and the East China Sea(ECS)are investigated based on tropical rainfall measurement mission(TRMM).The primary results are as follows.First,both the convective and stratiform precipitation rates in the SCS are much higher than those of the ECS.The contribution of the convective cloud precipitation to the surface precipitation is primarily over the SCS and the ECS with a proportion of about 70%,but the contribution of convective cloud precipitation is slightly larger in the SCS than the ECS.The contribution of stratus precipitation is slightly larger in the ECS than that in the SCS.Second,the content of cloud particles and precipitation particles in the ECS in June was greater than that in the SCS,while in July and August,the content of cloud and precipitation particles in the ECS was less than that in the SCS.Third,the latent heat profile of the ECS is quite different from that of the SCS.In June,the peak values of evaporation and condensation latent heating rates in the ECS are greater than those in the SCS.In July and August,however,the peak values of evaporation and condensation latent heating rates in the ECS are about 0.05/h less than those in the SCS.LI Jiangnan YANG Chaofeng LI Fangzhou HE Qihua LI Weibiao 2013Acta Oceanologica Sinica2013,32,11:3
20Integrated radiative and evaporative cooling beyond daytime passive cooling power limit显示文摘Radiative cooling technologies can passively gain lower temperature than that of ambient surroundings without consuming electricity,which has emerged as potential alternatives to traditional cooling methods.However,the limitations in daytime radiation intensity with a net cooling power of less than 150 W·m^(−2) have hindered progress toward commercial practicality.Here,we report an integrated radiative and evaporative chiller(IREC)based on polyacrylamide hydrogels combined with an upper layer of breathable poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-trifluoroethylene)fibers,which achieves a record high practical average daytime cooling power of 710 W·m^(−2).The breathable fiber layer has an average emissivity of over 76%in the atmospheric window,while reflecting 90%of visible light.This IREC possesses effective daytime radiative cooling while simultaneously ensuring evaporative cooling capability,enhancing daytime passive cooling effectively.As a result,IREC presents the practicability for both personal cooling managements and industrial auxiliary cooling applications.An IREC-based patch can assist in cooling human body by 13℃ low for a long term and biocompatible use,and IREC can maintain the temperature of industrial storage facilities such as oil tanks at room temperature even under strong sunlight irradiation.This work delivers the highest performance daytime passive cooling by simultaneous infrared radiation and water evaporation,and provides a new perspective for developing highly efficient,scalable,and affordable passive cooling strategy.Houze Yao Huhu Cheng Qihua Liao Xuanzhang Hao Kaixuan Zhu Yajie Hu Liangti Qu 2023Nano Research Energy2023,2,2:2
