The size variation and related implications of mandibles in northern China in the past 7000 years显示文摘To better understand variation of Holocene Chinese mandiblular morphology, a study was conducted on 23 metric traits of Neolithic (n=54), Bronze-Iron Ages (n=184) and modern (n=92) adult male mandibles from northern China. Results indicate that the linear characters of these Chinese mandibles evolved in the past 7000 years. From the Neolithic to Bronze-Iron Ages to present day, the overall size of mandibles decreased. The linear characters of the mandiblular features varied between different time periods. The decrease of thickness and height of the mandibular corpus primarily occurred during the Neolithic to Bronze-Iron Ages. The decrease in main size was during the Bronze-Iron Ages to present day. It is possible that mandibles became thinner before the overall size decreased. Comparisons also indicate that the bottom part of the face may have decreased more greatly in breadth than the upper portion. The decrease in mandible size may be associated with changes in climate and diet, and with changes in the craniums size.LI HaiJun ZHANG QuanChao ZHU Hong 2012Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,4:19
Craniofacial morphological microevolution of Holocene populations in northern China显示文摘In order to better understand microevolutionary processes in Holocene Chinese craniofacial mor- phology, an analysis has been done on 21 metric traits on Neolithic (n=161), Bronze Age (n=423) and modern (n=134) adult male skulls from northern China. The results indicate that the physical characters of these Chinese populations evolved throughout the Holocene. From the Neolithic to Bronze Age to present day, general trends include: cranial and facial sizes decrease; the nose gets narrower and longer; the orbits become narrower and higher; the head is more globular. The expression of the cranial features varies between the different time periods. The decrease in cranial size primarily occurred from the Bronze Age to present day. However, the decrease in facial size, the narrowing of the nose, and the elevation of the orbits took place throughout the Holocene. These traits are likely still evolving. This evolving pattern of the cranial features for the Holocene Chinese populations is similar to that found elsewhere in the world. The decrease in overall craniofacial size is associated with changes in climate and diet. In addition, it is possible that the craniofacial morphological microevolution is controlled by human evolutionary mechanisms.WU XiuJie LIU Wu ZHANG QuanChao ZHU Hong Christopher J. 3Advanced inorganic/polymer hybrid electrolytes for all-solid-state lithium batteries显示文摘Solid-state batteries have become a frontrunner in humankind’s pursuit of safe and stable energy storage systems with high energy and power density.Electrolyte materials, currently, seem to be the Achilles’heel of solid-state batteries due to the slow kinetics and poor interfacial wetting.Combining the merits of solid inorganic electrolytes(SIEs)and solid polymer electrolytes(SPEs),inorganic/polymer hybrid electrolytes(IPHEs)integrate improved ionic conductivity, great interfacial compatibility, wide electrochemical stability window, and high mechanical toughness and flexibility in one material, having become a sought-after pathway to high-performance all-solid-state lithium batteries.Herein,we present a comprehensive overview of recent progress in IPHEs,including the awareness of ion migration fundamentals, advanced architectural design for better electrochemical performance, and a perspective on unconquered challenges and potential research directions. This review is expected to provide a guidance for designing IPHEs for next-generation lithium batteries, with special emphasis on developing high-voltage-tolerance polymer electrolytes to enable higher energy density and three-dimensional(3D)continuous ion transport highways to achieve faster charging and discharging.Xiaoyu JI Yiruo ZHANG Mengxue CAO Quanchao GU Honglei WANG Jinshan YU Zi-Hao GUO Xingui ZHOU 2022Journal of Advanced Ceramics2022,11,6:2
Hemodynamic evaluation of different stent graft schemes in aortic arch covered stent implantation显示文摘Implantation of the left subclavian artery(LSA)stent graft used in fenestration technique of the thoracic endovascular aortic repair(TEVAR)may interfere with the aortic helical blood flow that is believed to have important protective functions against atherogenesis. The present study investigated four different LSA stent graft implantation schemes for their resulted blood flow patterns in the thoracic aortic with hemodynamic computational simulation methods:the flush branch(FB),the protruding branch(PB),the straight cuff branch(SCB)and the cured cuff branch(CCB).The results showed that the PB scheme could slightly enhance helicity of the swirling flow in the aorta, but the other three schemes had less effect on blood flow helicity. The PB scheme produced lowTAWSS,high-OSI and high-RRT around the LSA root, and the FB scheme had similar TAWSS,OSI and RRT in both value and distribution to those in the aorta without LSA stent graft implantation. The SCB and CCB schemes led to less area of high-OSI and high-RRT values along the walls of the LSA branch arteries. The results also showed that the PB scheme would significantly reduce blood supply to the LSA,on the contrary, the CCB scheme enhanced LSA blood supply and less effect on the total blood supply to the three branches of the thoracic aorta. In summary, all of the four schemes have no significant effect on the aortic swirling flow, however,in the terms of TAWSS,OSI,RRT and blood supply to the LSA,the CCB model might be the best option with less area of low-WSS,high-OSI,high-RRT and well blood supply in the LSA.Jingxin Liu Xinyong Cai Yuliang Zhan Hongmin Zhu Haiyong Ao Yizao Wan Honglin Luo Zhiwei Yang Quanchao Zhang 2022Medicine in Novel Technology and Devices2022,,1:0
Analysis of the matrilineal genetic structure of population in the early Iron Age from Tarim Basin,Xinjiang,China显示文摘Ancient mtDNA data of human remains were analyzed from four early Iron Age Tarim Basin sites (Yuansha, Zaghunluq, Sampula and Niya) in the southern Silk Road region. Haplogroup distributions show that ancient Tarim Basin population was comprised of well-differentiated Western and Eastern matrilineal lineages. Some West lineage of Tarim Basin population originated from Near East and Iran region. Of the East lineages, North and Northeast Asia originated lineages were the main components, and a few Southeast Asian lineages also existed, which indicated a more extensive origin and a more complex admixture. The genetic structure of ancient Tarim Basin population is relatively close to the modern populations of Xinjiang, which implied that the early Iron Age is an important period during the formation of the modern Xinjiang population.CUI YinQiu GAO ShiZhu XIE ChengZhi ZHANG QuanChao WANG HaiJing ZHU Hong ZHOU Hui 2009Chinese Science Bulletin2009,54,21:0
Decay stages and meteorological factors affect microbial community during leaf litter in situ decomposition显示文摘Litter microorganisms play a crucial role in the biological decomposition in forest ecosystems;however, the coupling effect of meteorological and substrate changes on it during the different stages of leaf decomposition in situ remains unclear.Hence, according to meteorological factors dynamics,a one-year field litter of Quercus wutaishanica in situ decomposition experiment was designed for four decay stages in a warm temperate forest.Microbial community composition was characterized using Illumina sequencing of fungal ITS and bacterial 16S genes.Bacterial(6.6)and fungal(3.6)Shannon indexes were the largest after 125 days’litter decomposition(October). The relative abundance of Acidobacteria after 342 days and Bacteroidetes after 125 days were 3 and 24 times higher than after 31 days, respectively. Some non-dominant species(bacteria:Firmicutes,Planctomycotes, and Verrucomicrobia;fungi:Chytridiomycota and Glomeromomycota)may be absent or present at different decomposition stages due to litter properties or meteorological factors.Chemoheterotrophy and aerobic-chemoheterotrophy were the dominant bacterial functional groups, and the dominant fungal functional groups were saprotrophs, pathotrophs, and symbiotrophs.Precipitation and relative humidity significantly affected bacteria.Temperature, sunlight intensity, and net radiation significantly affected fungi.Besides, among the relative contributions of changes in bacterial and fungal community structure, leaf litter properties alone explained the variation of 5.51%and 10.63%.Microbial diversity and decay stage directly affected the litter mass-loss rate, with meteorological factors(precipitation, relative humidity, air temperature, and sunlight intensity)being indirect. Our findings highlight the importance of microbial diversity for leaf litter decomposition and the influence of meteorological factors.Haixin Zhang Yimei Huang Shaoshan An Quanchao Zeng Baorong Wang Xuejuan Bai Qian Huang 2023Soil Ecology Letters2023,5,3:0
Metal–organic framework-derived Co_(3)O_(4)modified nickel foam-based dendrite-free anode for robust lithium metal batteries显示文摘For several decades, the promise of implementing of lithium(Li)metal anodes for Li batteries has been a'holy grail'for researchers.Herein,we have proposed a facile design of a MOF-derived Co_(3)O_(4)nanoparticles modified nickel foam,i.e.,Co_(3)O_(4)-NF,as a 3D host to achieve a uniform infusion of the molten Li.The molten Li was uniformly absorbed on the Co_(3)O_(4)-NF host only in 10 s due to its high Li lithiophilicity. The obtained Li-Co_(3)O_(4)-NF composite electrode shows high cycling stability in symmetric cells with low voltage hysteresis even at a high current density of 5 mA/cm2.The full cells of Li-Co_(3)O_(4)-NF/LiFePO_(4)can cycle for more than 500 cycles at 2C without obvious capacity decay.SEM after cycling and in situ optical microscope results suggest that the unique 3D host structure of the Li-Co_(3)O_(4)-NF anode plays key roles on suppressing the dendrite growth and decreasing the local current inhomogeneity. We believe this work might provide a new strategy for fabricating dendrite-free Li metal anodes and facilitate practical applications in Li batteries.Tao Wei Jiahao Lu Pan Zhang Guang Yang Cheng Sun Yanyan Zhou Quanchao Zhuang Yongfu Tang 2023Chinese Chemical Letters2023,34,8:0
Molecular genetic analysis of Dongzhou-period ancient human of Helingeer in Inner Mongolia,China显示文摘The mtDNA hypervariable region I(HVR-I)of 10 ancient individuals from Dongzhou-period ancient human populations in Helingeer county of Inner Mongolia were amplified and sequenced to investigate the genetic structure. The relationships between the ancient population and related extant populations,as well as its possible origin at the molecular level, were also studied. Moreover, phylogenetic analysis and multi-dimensional scaling analysis were also performed based on the mtDNA data of the ancient population in Helingeer and the related Eurasian population. The results showed that the ancient population in Helingeer were closer to the northern Asian populations than to the other compared populations in matrilineal lineage.Combining the research results of archaeology and anthropology as well as molecular biology,we inferred that they were nomads who migrated from Mongolia plateau and cis-Baikal region to Helingeer in Inner Mongolia,China.Yuqin FU Chengzhi XIE Han ZHAO Xuelian XU Yinqiu CUI Quanchao ZHANG Hui ZHOU Hong ZHU 2008Frontiers in Biology2008,3,1:0
Recent Progress and Prospects on Dendrite-free Engineerings for Aqueous Zinc Metal Anodes显示文摘Rechargeable zinc-ion batteries with mild aqueous electrolytes are one of the most promising systems for large-scale energy storage as a result of their inherent safety, low cost,environmental-friendliness,and acceptable energy density. However, zinc metal anodes always suffer from unwanted dendrite growth, leading to low Coulombic efficiency and poor cycle stability and during the repeated plating/stripping processes, which substantially restrict their further development and application. To solve these critical issues,a lot of research works have been dedicated to overcoming the drawbacks associated with zinc metal anodes. In this overview, the working mechanisms and existing issues of the zinc metal anodes are first briefly outlined. Moreover,we look into the ongoing processes of the different strategies for achieving highly stable and dendrite-free zinc metal anodes, including crystal engineering, structural engineering, coating engineering, electrolyte engineering, and separator engineering. Finally, some challenges being faced and prospects in this field are provided, together with guiding significant research directions in the future.Jiangmin Jiang Zhiwei Li Zhenghui Pan Shijing Wang Yaxin Chen Quanchao Zhuang Zhicheng Ju Xiaogang Zhang 2023Energy & Environmental Materials2023,6,3:0
Orientation and mobility control of 4HCB organic film for flexible X-ray detectors with high performance显示文摘In comparison to inorganic counterparts, organic semiconducting(OSC)crystalline films are promising for building large-area and flexible ionizing radiation detectors for X-ray imaging or dosimetry due to their tissue equivalence, simple processing and large-scale production accessibility.Fabrication processes,how-ever,hinder the ability to generate aligned and large-area films with high carrier mobility. In this work, the space-confined melt process is used to produce highly orientated 4HCB(4-hydroxycyanobenzene)OSC films with a large area of 15×18 mm^(2).The out-of-plane direction of the 4HCB film is<001>,and the benzene rings are found to be extensively overlapped inside the in-plane direction, according to the XRD patterns. The film exhibits a high resistivity up to 1012cm,and high hole mobility of 10.62 cm^(2)V^(−1)s^(−1).Furthermore,the 4HCB(80μm-thick film)based X-ray detectors can achieve a sensitivity of 93μC Gy air^(−1) cm^(−2)and on/offratio of 157.The device also shows steady flexibility, with no degradation in detecting function after 100 cycles of bending. Finally, the proposed 4HCB film detectors demonstrated a high-resolution X-ray imaging capability. The imaging of several materials with sharp edges(copper and polytetrafluoroethylene)has been obtained. This work has developed a fast but efficient approach for producing large-area,highly oriented OSC films for high-performance X-ray detectors.Meng Xu Menghua Zhu Dou Zhao Sixin Chen Shilin Liu Quanchao Zhang Pei Yuan Binbin Zhang Paul Sellin Wanqi Jie Yadong Xu 2023Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,4:0
