1Over-expression of WOX1 Leads to Defects in Meristem Development and Polyamine Homeostasis in Arabidopsis显示文摘In plants,the meristem has to maintain a separate population of pluripotent cells that serve two main tasks,i.e.,self-maintenance and organ initiation,which are separated spatially in meristem.Prior to our study,WUS and WUS-like WOX genes had been reported as essential for the development of the SAM.In this study,the consequences of gain of WOX1 function are described.Here we report the identification of an Arabidopsis gain-of-function mutant wox1-D,in which the expression level of the WOX1(WUSCHEL HOMEOBOX 1) was elevated and subtle defects in meristem development were observed.The wox1-D mutant phenotype is dwarfed and slightly bushy,with a smaller shoot apex.The wox1-D mutant also produced small and dark green leaves,and exhibited a failure in anther dehiscence and male sterility.Molecular evidences showed that the transcription of the stem cell marker gene CLV3 was down-regulated in the meristem of wox1-D but accumulated in the other regions,i.e.,in the root-hypocotyl junction and at the sites for lateral root initiation.The fact that the organ size and cell size in leaves of wox1-D are smaller than those in wild type suggests that cell expansion is possibly affected in order to have partially retarded the development of lateral organs,possibly through alteration of CLV3 expression pattern in the meristem.An S-adenosylmethionine decarboxylase(SAMDC) protein,SAMDC1,was found able to interact with WOX1 by yeast two-hybrid and pull-down assays in vitro.HPLC analysis revealed a significant reduction of polyamine content in wox1-D.Our results suggest that WOX1 plays an important role in meristem development in Arabidopsis,possibly via regulation of SAMDC activity and polyamine homeostasis,and/or by regulating CLV3 expression.Yanxia Zhang Renhong Wu Genji Qin Zhangliang Chen Hongya Gu Li-Jia Qu 2011Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2011,53,6:23
2Blocking meningeal lymphatic drainage aggravates Parkinson’s disease-like pathology in mice overexpressing mutated α-synuclein显示文摘Background:Abnormal aggregation of brainα-synuclein is a central step in the pathogenesis of Parkinson’s disease(PD),thus,it is reliable to promote the clearance ofα-synuclein to prevent and treat PD.Recent studies have revealed an essential role of glymphatic system and meningeal lymphatic vessels in the clearance of brain macromolecules,however,their pathophysiological aspects remain elusive.Method:Meningeal lymphatic drainage of 18-week-old A53T mice was blocked via ligating the deep cervical lymph nodes.Six weeks later,glymphatic functions and PD-like phenotypes were systemically analyzed.Results:Glymphatic influx of cerebrospinal fluid tracer was reduced in A53T mice,accompanied with perivascular aggregation ofα-synuclein and impaired polarization of aquaporin 4 expression in substantia nigra.Cervical lymphatic ligation aggravated glymphatic dysfunction of A53T mice,causing more severe accumulation ofα-synuclein,glial activation,inflammation,dopaminergic neuronal loss and motor deficits.Conclusion:The results suggest that brain lymphatic clearance dysfunction may be an aggravating factor in PD pathology.Wenyan Zou Tinglin Pu Weixi Feng Ming Lu Ying Zheng Renhong Du Ming Xiao Gang Hu 2019Translational Neurodegeneration2019,8,1:17

7Flexoelectric materials and their related applications: A focused review显示文摘Flexoelectricity refers to the mechanical-electro coupling between strain gradient and electric polarization, and conversely, the electro-mechanical coupling between electric field gradient and mechanical stress. This unique effect shows a promising size effect which is usually large as the material dimension is shrunk down. Moreover, it could break the limitation of centrosymmetry, and has been found in numerous kinds of materials which cover insulators, liquid crystals, biological materials, and semiconductors. In this review, we will give a brief report about the recent discoveries in flexoelectricity, focusing on the flexoelectric materials and their applications. The theoretical developments in this field are also addressed. 9Electro-optic tuning of a single-frequencyultranarrow linewidth microdisk laser显示文摘Single-frequency ultranarrow linewidth on-chip microlasers with a fast wavelength tunability play a game-changing role in a broad spectrum of applications ranging from coherent communication,light detection and ranging,to metrology and sensing.Design and fabrication of such light sources remain a challenge due to the difficulties in making a laser cavity that has an ultrahigh optical quality(Q)factor and supports only a single lasing frequency simultaneously.Here,we demonstrate a unique single-frequency ultranarrow linewidth lasing mechanism on an erbium ion-doped lithium niobate(LN)microdisk through simultaneous excitation of high-Q polygon modes at both pump and laser wavelengths.As the polygon modes are sparse within the optical gain bandwidth compared with the whispering gallery mode counterpart,while their Q factors(above 10 million)are even higher due to the significantly reduced scattering on their propagation paths,single-frequency lasing with a linewidth as narrow as 322 Hz is observed.The measured linewidth is three orders of magnitude narrower than the previous record in on-chip LN microlasers.Finally,enabled by the strong linear electro-optic effect of LN,real-time electro-optical tuning of the microlaser with a high tuning efficiency of∼50 pm∕100 V is demonstrated.Jintian Lin Saeed Farajollahi Zhiwei Fang Ni Yao Renhong Gao Jianglin Guan Li Deng Tao Lu Min Wang Haisu Zhang Wei Fang Lingling Qiao Ya Cheng 2022Advanced Photonics2022,4,3:4
10Effects of Technological Parameters on Carbothermal Reduction and Nitridation of Zircon显示文摘Carbothermal reduction and nitridation(CRN)of zircon(ZrSiO4)permits obtaining different composites of oxides and nitrides such as ZrO2-Si2N2O and ZrN-Si3N4.The effects of technological parameters(carbon source,reaction temperature,and carbon content)on the reaction rate and product phase composition of CRN of zircon were investigated by TGA and XRD.The results show that:(1)carbon source is an important factor for a rapid reaction,and activated carbon is chosen as the carbon source considering the expect products and reaction rate;(2)reaction temperature has vital effect on reaction rate and product.In case of carbon content above 20%,the zircon phase and m-ZrO2 phase decrease with increasing temperature,while the Zr7N8O4 phase increases firstly and then decreases,and the ZrN phase increases continually;(3)different carbon contents result in different reaction products.The higher the carbon content,the lower the starting temperature for the CRN of zircon.YU Renhong FU Yadong ZHANG Mengmeng WANG Lizhi HONG Quanquan ZHANG Ruohua 2011China's Refractories2011,20,1:3

12Viability of primary cultured retinal neurons in a hyperglycemic condition显示文摘The retina of Wistar rats within 1-3 days of birth were dissociated into a retinal cell suspension using 0.05% trypsin digestion. The cell suspension was incubated in Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium for 24 hours, followed by neurobasal medium for 5-7 days. Nissl staining showed that 79.86% of primary cultured retinal cells were positive and immunocytochemical staining showed that the purity of anti-neurofilament heavy chain antibody-positive cells was 71.53%, indicating that the primary culture system of rat retinal neurons was a reliable and stable cell system with neurons as the predominant cell type. The primary cultured retinal neurons were further treated with 0, 5.5, 15, 25, and 35 mM glucose for 24, 48, and 72 hours. The thiazolyl blue tetrazolium bromide test and flow cytometry showed that with increasing glucose concentration and treatment duration, the viability of retinal neurons was reduced, and apoptosis increased. In particular, 35 mM glucose exhibited the most significant effect at 72 hours. 13Real zeros of the zero-dimensional parametric piecewise algebraic variety显示文摘The piecewise algebraic variety is the set of all common zeros of multivariate splines. We show that solving a parametric piecewise algebraic variety amounts to solve a finite number of parametric polynomial systems containing strict inequalities. With the regular decomposition of semi- algebraic systems and the partial cylindrical algebraic decomposition method, we give a method to compute the supremum of the number of torsion-free real zeros of a given zero-dimensional parametric piecewise algebraic variety, and to get distributions of the number of real zeros in every n-dimensional cell when the number reaches the supremum. This method also produces corresponding necessary and suffcient conditions for reaching the supremum and its distributions. 16Sparse approximate solution of fitting surface to scattered points by MLASSO model显示文摘The goal of this paper is to achieve a computational model and corresponding efficient algorithm for obtaining a sparse representation of the fitting surface to the given scattered data. The basic idea of the model is to utilize the principal shift invariant(PSI) space and the l_1 norm minimization. In order to obtain different sparsity of the approximation solution, the problem is represented as a multilevel LASSO(MLASSO)model with different regularization parameters. The MLASSO model can be solved efficiently by the alternating direction method of multipliers. Numerical experiments indicate that compared to the AGLASSO model and the basic MBA algorithm, the MLASSO model can provide an acceptable compromise between the minimization of the data mismatch term and the sparsity of the solution. 17Structural basis for the different states of the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 in complex with ACE2显示文摘Dear Editor,Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)has become a severe threat to global health.1 The spike(S)protein on the surface of SARS-CoV-2 exploits angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2)as cellular receptor and mediates the fusion of the viral and the host cell membrane during infection.1,2 The activation of the S protein requires the receptor-binding domain(RBD)binding to the peptidase domain(PD)of ACE2 and the cleavage by host proteases into the N-terminal S1 subunit and the C-terminal S2 subunit.2,3,4 An additional furin cleavage site“RRAR”present in the S1/S2 cleavage region of SARS-CoV-2,which is absent in SARS-CoV that shares about 80%sequence identity with SARS-CoV-2 and caused an epidemic in 2002–2003,might help accelerate the activation of the S protein.S1 consists of the N-terminal domain(NTD),the RBD,subdomain 1 and 2(SD1 and SD2).The RBD adopts two distinct conformations:“up”and“down”.Only the“up”RBD exposes the receptor-binding site.S2,containing the hydrophobic fusion peptide,is responsible for the viral and cell membrane fusion.The molecular mechanism underlying the activation of the S protein of SARS-CoV-2 represents a critical clue for therapeutic development.Here we report the cryo-electron microscopy(cryo-EM)structures of trimeric extracellular domain of the S protein(hereinafter referred to as S)at multiple states and conformations,including the all RBD-locked,activated,S1/S2 trypsin-cleaved,PD of ACE2-bound,and the full-length ACE2-bound states.PD binds to the trimeric S protein with consistent interface,inducing conformational change at adjacent region.The trypsin-digested S protein tends to accommodate more PD molecules.Furthermore,the structure of the S–ACE2–B0AT1 ternary complex indicates that one ACE2 dimer binds two trimeric S proteins simultaneously.These results provide clues for the mechanism of the activation of the S protein of SARS-CoV-2.Renhong Yan Yuanyuan Zhang Yaning Li Fangfei Ye Yingying Guo Lu Xia Xinyue Zhong Ximin Chi Qiang Zhou 2021Cell Research2021,31,6:2
18Effects of Spherical Aggregates Addition on Properties of Al2O3-SiO2 System Castables显示文摘Compared with traditional aggregates,spherical aggregates with high flowability,easy control of particle size distribution and favor of dense packing and so on,are expected to replace traditional aggregates as important raw materials for future high performance refractories. Therefore,investigation of effects of spherical aggregates addition on properties of refractories becomes very meaningful. Using A70 mullite traditional aggregates and A70 mullite spherical aggregates, bauxite homogenization powder,microsilica,and calcium aluminate cement as raw materials,different Al_2O_3-SiO_2system low cement castables were prepared by replacing conventional aggregates with spherical aggregates. The effect of spherical aggregates addition on workability and mechanical properties of castables after heated at different temperatures was researched,and microstructure of the specimen was analyzed by SEM. Compared with traditional irregularly shaped aggregates,spherical aggregates endow castables with better flowability and easy pump ability. By introduction of spherical aggregates into the castables,flowability and pumpability are significantly improved,and water addition and ball completely sunk time are reduced. The introduction of spherical aggregates is favorable to density and cold crushing strength of castables,but unfavorable to CMOR. The effect of spherical aggregates addition on HMOR at1 400 ℃ can be negligible. 19Effect of ZrO_2-nitrides Composite Powder Addition on Oxidation Resistance of Al_2O_3-C Refractories显示文摘Oxidation of carbon is the main problem of Al2O3-C refractories.ZrO2-nitrides composite powder was synthesized through carbothermal reduction and nitridation (CRN) of zircon.The effect of ZrO2-nitrides composite powder addition on oxidation resistance of the Al2O3-C refractories was investigated by measuring the thickness of oxidation layer.Phase compositions of the Al2O3-C refractories before and after oxidation were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD).Results show that the oxidation resistance of the Al2O3-C refractories can be obviously improved by adding the synthesized ZrO2-nitrides composite powder.The formation of mullite and zircon in the oxidation layer results in the densification of oxidation layer,which prevents oxygen diffusion and improves the oxidation resistance of the Al2O3-C refractories.ZHANG Mengmeng YU Renhong ZHOU Ningsheng 2011China's Refractories2011,20,3:2
