| 1 | Demand response:a strategy to address residential air-conditioning peak load in Australia显示文摘Rapid growth in electricity network peak demand is increasing pressure for new investment which may be used for only a few hours a year.Residential airconditioning is widely believed to be the prime cause of the rise in peak demand but,in the absence of detailed residential demand research,there is no bottom-up empirical evidence to support this supposition or to estimate its impact.This paper first examines the developments in network peak demand,at a national,network distribution,and local distribution feeder level to show recent trends in peak demand.Secondly,this paper applies analytics to the half-hourly consumption data of a sample of Ausgrid’s interval metered customers,combined with local weather data,to develop an algorithm which can recognize air-conditioner use and can identify consumption patterns and peak load.This estimate is then compared to system peaks to determine residential airconditioning’s impact on overall demand.Finally,this paper considers the future impacts of air-conditioning load on peak demand as penetration rates reaches saturation levels and new minimum energy performance standards take effect reducing new units peak impacts. | Robert SMITH Ke MENG Zhaoyang DONG Robert SIMPSON | 2013 | Journal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy2013,1,3: | 10 |
| 2 | Matrilineal History of the Rana longicrus Species Group(Rana,Ranidae,Anura) and the Description of a New Species from Hunan,southern China显示文摘Fieldwork in Jiemuxi National Nature Reserve,Hunan,China,discovered morphologically indistinguishable groups of brown frogs that bred at different,exclusive times of the year.A principal components analysis of morphometric data,molecular analyses,and the exclusive breeding season suggested the occurrence of two species.The population that breeds during the winter was found to be an undescribed species and was subsequently described as Rana jiemuxiensis sp.nov.The new cryptic species can be identified from its congeners at the same locality by having a different breeding season and a divergent DNA barcode.Six major lineages of brown frogs were resolved with high nodal support.Rana japonica,R.chaochiaoensis,R.omeimontis,and R.jiemuxiensis have independent maternal lineages.Rana hanlunica and R.maoershanensis have essentially identical maternal lineages and they appear to represent the same species.The validity of the species R.longicrus,R.zhenhaiensis,and R.culaiensis and their genealogical relationships are not resolved and deserve further study.The genealogy indicates that sympatric cryptic lineages probably widely exist in the R.longicrus group.This highlights the importance of future more fine-scaled samplings and the inclusion of nuclear genes. | Fang YAN Ke JIANG Hongman CHEN Ping FANG Jieqiong JIN Yi LI Shaoneng WANG Robert W.MURPHY Jing CHE Yaping ZHANG | 2011 | Asian Herpetological Research2011,2,2: | 8 |
| 3 | Phylogenetic Relationships of the Genus Paramesotriton(Caudata: Salamandridae) with the Description of a New Species from Qixiling Nature Reserve, Jiangxi, Southeastern China and a Key to the species显示文摘The matrilineal genealogy of the genus Paramesotriton is hypothesized based on DNA sequences from mitochondrial NADH subunit two(ND2) and its flanking tRNAs(tRNATrp and a partial tRNAAla). The genealogy identifies a highly divergent, unnamed lineage from Qixiling Nature Reserve, Jiangxi, China and places it as the sister taxon of P. chinensis. The newly discovered population differs from other congeners by several features of external morphology including having large clusters of dark brown conical warts on the dorsum of the head, lateral surface of the body and dorsolateral ridges. Its intermittent dorsal vertebral ridge is the same color as other parts of the dorsum and tail narrows gradually from the base to the tip. Further, the new population differs from all congeners by an uncorrected P-distance of more than 9.38% in ND2. | 8 | Highlights of the 2nd International Symposium on Tribbles and Diseases: tribbles tremble in therapeutics for immunity, metabolism, fundamental cell biology and cancer显示文摘The Tribbles(TRIB) family of pseudokinase proteins has been shown to play key roles in cell cycle, metabolic diseases, chronic inflammatory disease, and cancer development. A better understanding of the mechanisms of TRIB pseudokinases could provide new insights for disease development and help promote TRIB proteins as novel therapeutic targets for drug discovery. At the 2 nd International Symposium on Tribbles and Diseases held on May 7–9, 2018 in Beijing, China, a group of leading Tribbles scientists reported their findings and ongoing studies about the effects of the different TRIB proteins in the areas of immunity, metabolism, fundamental cell biology and cancer. Here, we summarize important and insightful overviews from 4 keynote lectures, 13 plenary lectures and 8 short talks that took place during this meeting.
