Rapid afterslip and short-term viscoelastic relaxation following the 2008 M_W7.9 Wenchuan earthquake显示文摘Significant postseismic deformation of the 2008 M W 7.9 Wenchuan earthquake has been observed from GPS data of the first 14 days after the earthquake. The possible mechanisms for the rapid postseismic deformation are assumed to be afterslip on the earthquake rupture plane and viscoelastic relaxation of coseismiclly stress change in the lower crust or upper mantle. We firstly use the constrained least squares method to find an afterslip model which can fit the GPS data best. The afterslip model can explain near-field data very well but shows considerable discrepancies in fitting far-field data. To estimate the effect due to the viscoelastic relaxation in the lower crust, we then ignore the contribution from the afterslip and attempt to invert the viscosity structure beneath the Longmenshan fault where the Wenchuan earthquake occurred from the postseismic deformation data. For this purpose, we use a viscoelastic model with a 2D geometry based on the geological and seismological observations and the coseismic slip distribution derived from the coseismic GPS and InSAR data. By means of a grid search we find that the optimum viscosity is 9×10 18 Pa·s for the middle-lower crust in the Chengdu Basin, 4×10 17 Pa·s for the middle-lower crust in the Chuanxi Plateau and 7×10 17 Pa·s for the low velocity zone in the Chuanxi plateau. The viscoelastic model explains the postseismic deformation observed in the far-field satisfactorily, but it is considerably worse than the afterslip model in fitting the near-fault data. It suggests therefore a hybrid model including both afterslip and relaxation effects. Since the viscoelastic model produces mainly the far-field surface deformation and has fewer degree of freedoms (three viscosity parameters) than the afterslip model with a huge number of source parameters, we fix the viscositiy structure as obtained before but redetermine the afterslip distribution using the residual data from the viscoelastic modeling. The redetermined afterslip distribution becomes physically more reasonable; it is more localized and exhibits a pattern spatially complementary with the coseismic rupture distribution. We conclude that the aseismic fault slip is responsible for the near-fault postseismic deformation, whereas the viscoelastic stress relaxation might be the major cause for the far-field postseismic deformation. | Zhigang Shao Rongjiang Wang Yanqiang Wu Langping Zhang | 2011 | Earthquake Science2011,24,2: | 12
Leaf surface factors of transgenic Bt cotton associated with the feeding behaviors of cotton aphids:A case study on non-target effects显示文摘The present paper reports case study results of the risk assessment of transgenic Bt cotton on a non-target pest, cotton aphid, Aphis gossypii. Several types of techniques, i.e., electrical penetration graph (EPG), light and electron microscopy, bioassays and chemical analysis, were applied to investigate physical and chemical leaf factors of 2 transgenic Bt cotton lines (GK12 and GK19) and their pa-rental non-Bt cotton line (Simian3) associated with searching and feeding behaviors of cotton aphids on leaves or leaf extracts of cotton plants. EPG results showed that there were some differences among behaviors of cotton aphids on 2 Bt cotton and 1 non-Bt cotton lines. Cotton aphids performed similarly to leaf surface extracts from 3 cotton lines; and leaf surface chemicals, mainly volatiles and waxes, were almost identical in the components and concentrations among the cotton lines. However, three cotton lines were quite different from each other in the densities of certain kinds of covering trichomes. Therefore, the relationships between the physical characteristics and the searching behaviors of cotton aphids on the three cotton lines were constructed as the regression equations. Glandular trichomes and covering trichomes with 5 branches influenced the cotton aphids' searching behaviors effectively; and other trichomes with other branches affected aphids in varying ways. These results demonstrated that leaf surface physical factors of transgenic Bt cotton lines different from their parental non-Bt line could affect the penetration behaviors of non-target cotton aphids. Cotton aphids penetrate and feed more easily on two Bt cotton lines than on the non-Bt cotton line. | XUE Kun, DENG Su, WANG RongJiang, YAN FengMing, XU ChongRen College of Life Sciences, Peking University, Beijing 100871, China | 2008 | Science China(Life Sciences)2008,51,2: | 8
Effect of electro-acupuncture combined with psychological intervention on mental symptoms and P50 of auditory evoked potential in patients with internet addiction disorder显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To observe the therapeutic effects of electro-acupuncture(EA) combined with psychological intervention on the symptom of somzatization or obsession and mental symptom of depression or anxiety and P50 of Auditory Evoked Potential(AEP) on internet addiction disorder(IAD).METHODS: One hundred and twenty cases of IAD were randomly divided into an EA group, a psycho-intervention(PI) group and a comprehensive therapy(EA plus PI) group. Patients in the EA group were treated with EA. Patients in the PI group were treated with cognition and behavior therapy. Patients in the EA plus PI group were treated with electro-acupuncture plus psychological intervention. Scores of IAD, scores of the symptom checklist90(SCL-90), latency and amplitude of P50 of AEP were measured before and after treatment.RESULTS: The scores of IAD after treatment significantly decreased in all groups(P < 0.05), and thescores of IAD in the EA plus PI group were significantly lower than those in the other two groups(P < 0.05). The scores of SCL-90 assembled and each factor after treatment in the EA plus PI group significantly decreased(P < 0.05). After treatment in the EA plus PI group, the amplitude distance of S1P50 and S2P50(S1-S2) significantly increased(P < 0.05).CONCLUSION: EA combined with PI could relieve the mental symptoms of IAD patients, and the mechanism is possibly related to the increase of cerebrum sense perception gating function. | Li Hui Jin Rongjiang Yuan Kezhu Zheng Bo Zheng Zhong Luo Ying Ye Hua Huang Bingjie Zhu Tianmin | 2017 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2017,37,1: | 7
Short-term effects of biochar and gypsum on soil hydraulic properties and sodicity in a saline-alkali soil显示文摘Salt and sodicity of saline-alkali soil adversely affect the construction of ecological landscapes and negatively impact crop production. The reclamation potential of biochar(BC,wheat straw biochar applied at\%by weight),gypsum(G,0.4%by weight),and gypsum coupled with biochar(GBC)was examined in this laboratory-based study by evaluating their effects on a saline-alkali soil(silt loam)with no amendment as a control(CK).Saline ice and fresh water(simulated rainfall)were leached through soil columns to investigate changes in salt content, sodium adsorption ratio(SAR),alkalinity, and pH of the leachate and the soil. Results showed that saturated water content and field water capacity(FWC)significantly increased by 4.4%and 5.6%,respectively,in the BC treatment after a short incubation time.Co-application of biochar and gypsum(GBC)increased soil saturated hydraulic conductivity(Ks)by 58.4%,which was also significantly higher than the sole addition.Electrical conductivity(EC)of the leachate decreased sharply after saline ice leaching;subsequent freshwater leaching accelerated the removal of the rest of the salts, irrespective of the amendment application. However, the application of gypsum(G and GB)significantly enhanced the removal of exchangeable Na^+and reduced leachate SAR.After leaching, the soil salt content decreased significantly for all treatments. The application of gypsum resulted in a significantly lower soil pH,exchangeable sodium percentage(ESP),SAR,and alkalinity values than those recorded for the CK and BC treatments. These results demonstrated that the co-application of gypsum and biochar could improve saline-alkali soil hydraulic conductivity and decrease leaching-induced sodicity over a short period. | Yue ZHANG Jingsong YANG Rongjiang YAO Xiangping WANG Wenping XIE | 2020 | Pedosphere2020,30,5: | 6
Hermite variational implicit surface reconstruction显示文摘We propose a new technique for reconstructing surfaces from a large set of unorganized 3D data points and their associated normal vectors. The surface is represented as the zero level set of an implicit vol-ume model which fits the data points and normal constraints. Compared with variational implicit sur-faces,we make use of surface normal vectors at data points directly in the implicit model and avoid of introducing manufactured off-surface points. Given n surface point/normal pairs, the proposed method only needs to solve an n×n positive definite linear system. It allows fitting large datasets effectively and robustly. We demonstrate the performance of the proposed method with both globally supported and compactly supported radial basis functions on several datasets. | PAN RongJiang MENG XiangXu WHANGBO TaegKeun | 2009 | Science in China(Series F)2009,52,2: | 5

A note on the equivalence of three major propagator algorithms for computational stability and efficiency显示文摘It is shown in this note that the three methods, the orthonormalization method, the minor matrix method and the recursive reflection-transmission matrix method are closely related and solve the numerical instability in the original Thomson-Haskell propagator matrix method equally well.Another stable and efficient method based on the orthonormalization and the Langer block-diagonal decomposition is presented to calculate the response of a horizontal stratified model to a plane, spectral wave.It is a numerically robust Thomson-Haskell matrix method for high frequencies, large layer thicknesses and horizontal slownesses. The technique is applied to calculate reflection-transmission coefficients, body wave receiver functions and Rayleigh wave dispersion. | Yanlu Ma Rongjiang Wang Huilan Zhou | 2012 | Earthquake Science2012,25,1: | 2
