| 1 | A survey on sensor localization显示文摘Localization is one of the fundamental problems in wireless sensor networks (WSNs),since locations of the sensor nodes are critical to both network operations and most application level tasks.Although the GPS based localization schemes can be used to determine node locations within a few meters,the cost of GPS devices and non-availability of GPS signals in confined environments prevent their use in large scale sensor networks.There exists an extensive body of research that aims at obtaining locations as well as spatial relations of nodes in WSNs without requiring specialized hardware and/or employing only a limited number of anchors that are aware of their own locations.In this paper,we present a comprehensive survey on sensor localization in WSNs covering motivations,problem formulations,solution approaches and performance summary.Future research issues will also be discussed. | Jing WANG R. | 4 | Unusual presentation of a pancreatic cyst resulting from osteosarcoma metastasis显示文摘Pancreatic metastases are uncommon. They have been reported in lung cancer, gastrointestinal malignancies, breast cancer, renal cell carcinoma, melanoma, lymphoma and sarcoma, and usually have solid morphology. Cystic metastasis to the pancreas is even more rare with few case reports in the literature. However, with the increasing use of computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging as well as endoscopic ultrasound, more such lesions may be detected. Metastasis to the pancreas from osteosarcoma is highly unusual, but can be seen with the increasing survival of patients with osteosarcoma. We present an extremely rare case of a predominantly cystic lesion of the pancreas, which was diagnosed as metastasis from osteosarcoma. The pathophysiology of the cystic component of the metastasis of osteosarcoma is unknown. Cystic necrotic degeneration of the solid metastasis or pancreatitis secondary to the metastasis with development of associated fluid collection can be considered. | 5 | Critical evaluation of two models of flow cytometers for the assessment of sperm DNA fragmentation:an appeal for performance verification显示文摘Lack of standardized,reproducible protocols and referencO values is among the challenges faced when using new or upgraded versions of instruments in reproductive laboratories and flow cytometry.Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling(TUNEL)assay combined with flow cytometry routinely used for diagnostic measurement of sperm DNA fragmentation(SDF)is a unique example.Any change in the setting of the standard instrument,including upgrades of hardware or software,can lead to different results and may affect clinicians'decision for treatment.Therefore,we compared TUNEL results of SDF obtained from a standard(C6)flow cytometer with a newer version of the same instrument(C6 Plus)and examined the cutoff,sensitivity,and specificity without calibration(adjustment)and after adjustment.Identical sperm preparation and matched acquisition settings were used to examine the performance of two flow cytometers.The strength of agreement of the results between the two observers was also assessed.After adjustment of the settings,overall concordance became high and the two cytometers showed 100%positive and negative predictive value with 100%area under the curve.The overall correlation coefficient observed between C6 and C6 Plus was highly significant(P<0.0001;r=0.992;95%confidence interval[Cl]:0.982-0.997).After adjustment,the two cytometers showed very high precisi on of 98%and accuracy of>99%.The in terobserver agreeme nt on C6 flow cytometer for the two observers was 0.801±0.062 and 0.746±0.044 for C6 Plus.We demonstrated a strong agreement between the samples tested on the two flow cytometers after calibration and established the robustness of both instruments. | Rakesh Sharma Sajal Gupta Ralf Henkel Ashok Agarwal | 2019 | Asian Journal of Andrology2019,21,5: | 3 |
| 6 | 2D-ultrathin MXene/DOXjade platform for iron chelation chemo-photothermal therapy显示文摘An increased demand for iron is a hallmark of cancer cells and is thought necessary to promote high cell proliferation,tumor progression and metastasis.This makes iron metabolism an attractive therapeutic target.Unfortunately,current iron-based therapeutic strategies often lack effectiveness and can elicit off-target toxicities.We report here a dual-therapeutic prodrug,DOXjade,that allows for iron chelation chemo-photothermal cancer therapy.This prodrug takes advantage of the clinically approved iron chelator deferasirox(ExJade®)and the topoisomerase 2 inhibitor,doxorubicin(DOX).Loading DOXjade onto ultrathin 2D Ti_(3)C_(2) MXene nanosheets produces a construct,Ti_(3)C_(2)-PVP@DOXjade,that allows the iron chelation and chemotherapeutic functions of DOXjade to be photo-activated at the tumor sites,while potentiating a robust photothermal effect with photothermal conversion efficiencies of up to 40%.Antitumor mechanistic investigations reveal that upon activation,Ti_(3)C_(2)-PVP@DOXjade serves to promote apoptotic cell death and downregulate the iron depletion-induced iron transferrin receptor(TfR).A tumor pH-responsive iron chelation/photothermal/chemotherapy antitumor effect was achieved both in vitro and in vivo.The results of this study highlight what may constitute a promising iron chelation-based phototherapeutic approach to cancer therapy. | Yunjie Xu Yingwei Wang Jusung An Adam C.Sedgwick Mingle Li Jianlei Xie Weibin Hu Jianlong Kang Sajal Sen Axel Steinbrueck Bin Zhang Lijun Qiao Swelm Wageh Jonathan F.Arambula Liping Liu Han Zhang Jonathan L.Sessler Jong Seung Kim | 2022 | Bioactive Materials2022,7,8: | 2 |
| 7 | A survey on control issues in renewable energy integration and microgrid显示文摘This paper describes the usefulness of renewable energy throughout the world to generate power. Renewable energy adds a remarkable scope in power system. Renewable energy sources act as the prime mover of a microgrid. The Microgrid is a small network of power system with distributed generation (DG) units connected in parallel. The integration challenges of renewable energy sources and the control of microgrid are described in this paper. The varied nature of DG system produces voltage and frequency deviation. The unknown nature of the load produces un-modeled dynamics. This un-modeled dynamic introduces measurable effects on the performance of the microgrid. This paper investigates the performance of the microgrid against different scenarios. The voltage of the microgrid is controlled by using different controllers and their results are also investigated.
