1A feasible strategy for focal cerebral ischemiareperfusion injury: remote ischemic postconditioning显示文摘It is difficult to control the degree of ischemic postconditioning in the brain and other ischemia-sensitive organs.Remote ischemic postconditioning could protect some ischemia-sensitive organs through measures on terminal organs.In this study,a focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury model was established using three cycles of remote ischemic postconditioning,each cycle consisted of 10-minute occlusion of the femoral artery and 10-minute opening.The results showed that,remote ischemic postconditioning significantly decreased the percentage of the infarct area and attenuated brain edema.In addition,inflammatory nuclear factor-κB expression was significantly lower,while anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 expression was significantly elevated in the cerebral cortex on the ischemic side.Our findings indicate that remote ischemic postconditioning attenuates focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury,and that the neuroprotective mechanism is mediated by an anti-apoptotic effect and reduction of the inflammatory response.Qiang Liu Shengnian Zhou Yaodong Wang Fang Qi Yuan Song Siwei Long 2014Neural Regeneration Research2014,9,15:21
2Interface tuning of Cu+/CuO by zirconia for dimethyl oxalate hydrogenation to ethylene glycol over Cu/SiO2 catalyst显示文摘An efficient ZrO2-doped Cu/SiO2 catalyst was fabricated through hydrolysis precipitation method(HP)and used to produce ethylene glycol(EG)through dimethyl oxalate(DMO)hydrogenation.The states for zirconia on copper catalyst and roles in DMO hydrogenation were investigated through various characterization tools,including N2 physical adsorption,XRD,H2-TPR,Methyl glycolate-TPD-MS,XPS,XAES as well.Compared with common ammonia evaporation and co-precipitation methods used in catalyst preparation,this HP method is found to effectively suppress the agglomeration and further size growth of copper nanoparticles by enhancing the interactions between copper and zirconia species.More importantly,uniform distribution of ZrO2 dopant is achieved due to the pseudo-homogeneous reactions in the mixing step of catalyst preparation.A proper amount of zirconium dopant helps achieve the desirable proportion of Cu+/(Cu++CuO)for surface copper species,especially promotes the production of Cu+species originated from Cu-ZrO2 species at the interface of copper and zirconia particles.In comparison with Cu+species formed from copper phyllosilicates reduction,the Cu+sites derived from Cu-ZrO2 species show higher adsorption ability of MG,an important intermediate species in ethylene glycol production.These adsorbed MG molecules further react with atomic hydrogen shifted from adjacent metallic copper surface,leading to a higher catalytic behavior.For the EG production via DMO hydrogenation,the turnover frequency(TOF)normalized by CuO species on CuZr/SiO2 catalyst is 1.8 times than that of traditional Cu/SiO2 counterpart.Due to the enhanced synergy effect between Cu+and Cuo active sites,a lower activation energy of ester hydrogenation on this ZrO2-doped Cu/SiO2 catalyst is believed to be responsible for the significant improvement.Yujun Zhao Huanhuan Zhang Yuxi Xu Shengnian Wang Yan Xu Shengping Wang Xinbin Ma 2020Journal of Energy Chemistry2020,29,10:5
3Differences in response of desert plants of different ecotypes to climate warming:a case study in Minqin, Northwest China显示文摘Globally climates are warming.How do desert plants of different ecotypes respond to the climate change?This paper studied the differing responses to climate warming shown by desert plants of different ecotypes through analyzing the phenology and meteorological data of 22 desert plant species growing in Minqin Desert Botanical Garden in Northwest China during the period 1974–2009.The results indicate:(1)The temperature in the study area has risen quickly since 1974,and plants’growing periods became longer.The spring phenology of mesophytes advanced,and the autumn phenology of xerophytes was delayed;(2)The starting dates of spring phenophase of mesophytes and xerophytes differed significantly and both showed an advancing trend;(3)The spring phenology of mesophytes advanced by more days than that of xerophytes,whereas the autumn phenology of mesophytes was delayed by less days than that of the xerophytes;and(4)Mesophytes are more sensitive than xerophytes to rising temperature in spring and falling temperature in autumn.These findings are of value in plant management and regional introduction of different species.ZhaoFeng CHANG ShuJuan ZHU FuGui HAN ShengNian ZHONG 2012Journal of Arid Land2012,4,2:4
4New ZnCe catalyst encapsulated in SBA-15 in the production of 1,3-butadiene from ethanol显示文摘ZnO-CeO2/SBA-15 catalysts were prepared by two kinds of solid-state grinding method and used for the production of 1,3-butadiene(1,3-BD) from ethanol.A mixture of SBA-15(with or without organic template) and metal precursors were ground in solid-state.The obtained catalysts were characterized by TG,N2 adsorption-desorption,TEM,XRD,Py-FTIR and NH_3-TPD techniques.Superior dispersion of metal oxides and more exposed acid sites were achieved on the catalyst lOZn_1Ce_5-AS with the presence of organic template in SBA-15 during the solid-state grinding process.The catalytic performance was evaluated in a fixed-bed reactor and a 1,3-butadiene selectivity of as high as 45% is achieved.This is attributed to the coupling effect of Zn and Ce species in the mesopores of SBA-15,in which Zn promotes ethanol dehydrogenation and Ce enhances aldol-condensation,respectively.Additionally,solvent-free method inspires new catalyst synthesis strategy for the production of 1,3-butadiene from ethanol.Yujun Zhao Sijia Li Zheng Wang Shengnian Wang Shengping Wang Xinbin Ma 2020Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,2:3

7Hierarchically porous CMC/rGo/CNFs aerogels for leakage-proof mirabilite phase change materials with superior energy thermal storage显示文摘As a kind of essential hydrated salt phase change energy storage materials,mirabilite with high energy storage density and mild phase-transition temperature has excellent application potential in the problems of solar time and space mismatch.However,there are some disadvantages such as supercooling,substantial phase stratification and leakage problem,limiting its further applications.In this work,for the preparation of shaped mirabilite phase change materials(MPcMs),graphene(GO),sodium carboxymethyl cellulose(CMC),and carbon nanofibers(CNFs)were used as starting materials to prepare lightweight CMC/rGO/CNFs carbon aerogel(CGCA)as support with stable shape,high specific surface area,and well-arranged hierarchically porous structure.The results show that CGCA has regular layered plentiful pores and stable foam structure,and the pore and sheet interspersed structure in CGCA stabilizes PcMs via capillary force and surface tension.The hydrophilic aerogels supported MPCMs decrease mirabilite leaking and reduce supercooling to around 0.7-1C.The latent heats of melting and crystallization of CGCA-supported mirabilite phase change materials(CGCA-PCMs)are 157.1 and 114.8 J-g-1,respectively.Furthermore,after 1500 solid-liquid cycles,there is no leakage,and the retention rate of crystallization latent heat is 45.32%,exhibiting remarkable thermal cycling stability.Fenglan CHEN Xin LIU Zhengya WANG Shengnian TIE Chang-An WANG 2022Frontiers of Materials Science2022,16,4:1

10AlGaN/GaN heterostructure field transistor for label-free detection of DNA hybridization显示文摘This paper demonstrates electrical detection of single strand deoxyribonucleic acid (ssDNA) conjugation by AlGaN/GaN hetero-structure field effect transistor (HFET) biological sensors. The probe ssDNA molecules are modified by thiol groups. The immobilization of probe molecules is achieved by S-Au bonding on a thin layer of gold film in the sensing area. The immobilization and hybridization process are firstly implemented on Si surfaces and checked by fluorescent and atomic force microscopy (AFM) imaging. The hybridization process is monitored on AlGaN/GaN HFETs. Time-dependent current change is observed when a matched ssDNA solution is applied, while no response is observed for a mismatched ssDNA sequence. The DNA hybridization process is dominated by the conjugation between matched ssDNA sequences in the first few tens of seconds. 13Gravitational wave astronomy: the current status显示文摘In the centenary year of Einstein's General Theory of Relativity, this paper reviews the current status of gravitational wave astronomy across a spectrum which stretches from attohertz to kilohertz frequencies. Sect. 1 of this paper reviews the historical development of gravitational wave astronomy from Einstein's first prediction to our current understanding the spectrum. It is shown that detection of signals in the audio frequency spectrum can be expected very soon, and that a north-south pair of next generation detectors would provide large scientific benefits. Sect. 2 reviews the theory of gravitational waves and the principles of detection using laser interferometry. The state of the art Advanced LIGO detectors are then described. These detectors have a high chance of detecting the first events in the near future. Sect. 3 reviews the KAGRA detector currently under development in Japan,which will be the first laser interferometer detector to use cryogenic test masses. Sect. 4 of this paper reviews gravitational wave detection in the nanohertz frequency band using the technique of pulsar timing. Sect. 5 reviews the status of gravitational wave detection in the attohertz frequency band, detectable in the polarisation of the cosmic microwave background, and discusses the prospects for detection of primordial waves from the big bang. The techniques described in sects. 1–5 have already placed significant limits on the strength of gravitational wave sources. Sects. 6 and 7 review ambitious plans for future space based gravitational wave detectors in the millihertz frequency band. 14Stability and Ecological Effects of Main Plant Communities in Minqin Desert Area显示文摘[Objective] To elucidate the change trend in stability and ecological effects of plant communities in desert along with global warming. [Method]The data of site-specific observation on five main plant communities at ten plots in Minqin desert area were used to analyze the stability and ecological effects of desert plant communities by using two indicators vegetation coverage and projective cover degree. [Results] The vegetation coverage of Artemisia arenaria and Ephedra przewalskii,and the projective cover degree of A. arenaria and man-made Haloxylon ammodendron forest decreased remarkably; and the vegetation coverage of Nitraria tangutorum was also decreased to some extent. [Conclusion]( 1) The plant communities with poor vegetation coverage gives a relatively strong stability,while that with high vegetation coverage has a relatively poor stability;( 2) the yearly precipitation is the determinant of vegetation coverage and projective cover degree;( 3) the ecological function is found to be most remarkable in per unit area N. tangutorum,followed by E. przewalskii and N. tangutorum + H. ammodendron,and least in per unit area A. Arenaria. 15A Musculoskeletal Modeling of Hand-foot Crawling with Different Heights显示文摘As a bionic therapy,hand-foot crawling has been reported to be used for the rehabilitation of low back pain.However,there have been few relevant biomechanical studies about this type of exercise.The purpose of this study was to calculate muscle activation and lumbar spinal load based on the examined limb kinematics and kinetics,which associated with hand-foot crawling at the different Centre of Mass(CoM)heights.A total of 14 men performed hand-foot crawling at three CoM heights.The kinematics and kinetics data were collected.One-way repeated measure analysis of variance was used to analyze the efFect of the CoM height on crawling parameters.The crawling data from one subject at the three heights were used to calculate the muscle activation and compressive lumbar load with an OpenSim musculoskeletal model.The CoM heights had no significant effect on kinematics,kinetics or muscle activation.The spinal load was larger at higher heights.Hand-foot crawling was associated with lower trunk muscle activity.This study helps us to understand hand-foot crawling from the perspective of biomechanics.The findings from this study may help physical therapists choose hand-foot crawling as an appropriate exercise for patients with low back pain during early rehabilitation.Meng Li Kuan Wang Wenxin Niu Shengnian Zhang 2020Journal of Bionic Engineering2020,17,3:0
16Mechanical properties and strengthening mechanism of silty sands stabilized with steel slag-based geopolymer binder显示文摘Geopolymer binder has the advantages of early strength,fast solidification,high volume stability,and low permeability.It is beneficial to improve the mechanical performance of silty sands,saving cement consumption and being environmentally friendly.However,the strength improvement of silty sand stabilized with steel slag-based geopolymer was significantly controlled by their material composition and technical parameters.This study conducted a series of unconfined compression tests to investigate the material composition of steel slag-based geopolymer binders and their reasonable mixing ratio for silty sand stabilization.The optimum mixing ratio of precursor(steel slag)to alkaline activator(the combination of Na2SiO3 and CaO)and the optimum dosage of steel slag-based geopolymer for silty sand stabilization were explored.The strengthening mechanism of geopolymer-stabilized silty sands was discussed based on microstructural images and elemental concentrations of primary components observed by SEM and EDS.The results show that when the mass ratio of steel slag:Na2SiO3:CaO was 80:35:21,and the steel slag-based geopolymer material was 15%,the silty sand could achieve the best mechanical performance improvement.The microstructural characteristics of geopolymer-stabilized silty sands at different curing ages illustrated that the compactness and integrity of silty sand structures were enhanced over the curing age.The improving cementitious contact among particles and enlarging particle size was responsible for the strength improvement of silty sand.This research can provide a reference for applying steel slag-based geopolymer in silty sand stabilization in engineering practices.Shengnian Wang Zewei Chen Zhijian Wu Leilei Gu Jun Su Zexuan Zhao 2022Emergency Management Science and Technology2022,2,1:0
17Features of animal models of complex partial epilepsy established through unilateral,bilateral and alternate-side kindling at hippocampus of rats显示文摘BACKGROUND: Electrical stimulation kindling model, having epilepsy-inducing and spontaneous seizure and other advantages, is a very ideal experimental animal model. But the kindling effect might be different at different sites. OBJECTIVE: To compare the features of animal models of complex partial epilepsy established through unilateral, bilateral and alternate-side kindling at hippocampus and successful rate of modeling among these 3 different ways. DESIGN: A randomized and controlled animal experiment. SETTING: Department of Neurology, Qilu Hospital, Shandong University. MATERIALS: Totally 60 healthy adult Wistar rats, weighing 200 to 300 g, of either gender, were used in this experiment. BL-410 biological functional experimental system (Taimeng Science and Technology Co.Ltd, Chengdu) and SE-7102 type electronic stimulator (Guangdian Company, Japan) were used in the experiment. METHODS: This experiment was carried out in the Experimental Animal Center of Shandong University from April to June 2004. After rats were anesthetized, electrode was implanted into the hippocampus. From the first day of measurement of afterdischarge threshold value, rats were given two-square-wave suprathreshold stimulation once per day with 400 μA intensity, 1ms wave length, 60 Hz frequency for 1 s duration. Left hippocampus was stimulated in unilateral kindling group, bilateral hippocampi were stimulated in bilateral kindling group, and left and right hippocampi were stimulated alternately every day in the alternate-side kindling group. Seizure intensity was scored: grade 0: normal, 1: wet dog-like shivering, facial spasm, such as, winking, touching the beard, rhythmic chewing and so on; 2: rhythmic nodding; 3: forelimb spasm;4: standing accompanied by bilateral forelimb spasm;5: tumbling, losing balance, four limbs spasm. Modeling was successful when seizure intensity reached grade 5. t test was used for the comparison of mean value between two samples. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Comparison of the successful rate of modeling, the times of stimulation to reach intensity of grade 5, the lasting time of seizure of grade 3 of rats in each group. RESULTS: Four rats of alternate-side kindling group dropped out due to infection-induced electrode loss, and 56 rats were involved in the result analysis. The successful rate of unilateral kindling group, bilateral kindling group and alternate-side kindling group was 55%(11/20),100%(16/16)and 100%(20/20), respectively. The stimuli to reach the grade 5 spasm were significantly more in the bilateral kindling group than in the unilateral kindling group [(30.63±3.48),(19.36±3.47)times,t=8.268,P < 0.01], and those were significantly fewer in the alternate-side kindling group than in the unilateral kindling group [(10.85±1.98)times,t=8.744,P < 0.01]. The duration of grade 3 spasm was significantly longer in the bilateral kindling group than in the unilateral kindling group [(9.75±2.59),(3.21 ±1.58)days,t=8.183,P < 0.01]. Among 20 successful rats of alternate-side kindling group, grade 5 spasm was found in the left hippocampi of 11 rats, but grade 3 spasm in their right hippocampi; Grade 5 spasm was found in the right hippocampi of the other 9 rats, grade 4 spasm in the left hippocampus of 1 rat and grade 3 of 8 rats. CONCLUSION: The speed of establishing epilepsy seizure model by alternate-side kindling is faster than that by unilateral kindling, while that by bilateral kindling is slower than that by unilateral kindling. The successful rate is very high to establish complex partial epilepsy with alternate-side or bilateral kindling.
